Podílel se na God of War, Fortnite, Overwatch, Starcraft 2, Bloodborne, Mass Effect 3 a řadě dalších her.

"Don't play this game before bedtime" is a warning from a review of Carrion , created by the tiny studio of Phobia Games. This reverse-horror game gives players a chance to be the monster, creating destruction in the lab where it escapes captivity. Composer Cris Velasco says he was totally on "Team Monster" as he was creating his soundtrack. Cris created a library of unusual sounds to build the music. He says one of the most enjoyable experiences was getting hold of a container of slime and using it to make all kinds of gushy, wet, slippery sounds, as a reference to the monster's tentacles, which he blended with the live strings and synths. Working with the small team of Phobia Game Studio also gave Cris the chance to fulfill a long-held dream of commissioning an artist to create the cover for the soundtrack album. Cris asked Dan Quintana to design the cover, and the the developers and Cris were thrilled with the result! The soundtrack is available on Chris' Bandcamp . Listen to it

On its surface, GYLT , the new game created by Tequila Works, is a terrifying adventure in which teenage Sally is looking for her missing cousin. But Tequila Works dives into deeper psychological waters, and the game also deals with the effects of bullying. Cris Velasco says both of those concepts gave him plenty of inspiration to create a scary soundtrack, while also incorporating a lush, empathetic sound with the orchestra. GYLT is set in an industrial town in Maine that's seen better times. The developers described it to Cris as "Stephen King crossed with Rime ," one of their earlier games. Cris has provided the soundtracks for many of Tequila Works' games, and he says working with them is always a fantastic experience because they realize that "a happy composer is a productive composer." The soundtrack is available in iTunes, Spotify and other digital outlets. Episode tracklist: All tracks by Cris Valasco, performed by the Czech Republic's Capilano Orchestra GYLT : You're Just

Cris Velasco is an American composer who has worked on video game franchises including Fortnite, Resident Evil, Overwatch, Assassin's Creed, Warhammer, Mass Effect and God of War, and television series such as HULU's Dimension 404 and Freakish. He recently returned to the DARKSIDERS franchise to compose the original score for the third game in the popular series. In DARKSIDERS III players return to an apocalyptic planet Earth, in a hack-n-slash action-adventure. In the game, players take on the role of FURY, the fiercest of the FOUR HORSEMEN OF THE APOCALYPSE, in her quest to hunt down and dispose of the Seven Deadly Sins. The expansive Darksiders III game world is presented as an open-ended, living, free-form planet Earth, dilapidated by war and decay, and overrun by nature. FURY will traverse back and forth between environments, battling other-worldly creatures and unlocking puzzles while advancing the Darksiders story. In this episode, composer Cris Velasco talks about returning to the franchise after co-composing the score for the first Darksiders game. He shares how the main theme organically developed through the selection of key lead instruments as well as with the lead vocalist from the band Niyaz, representing the protagonist, Fury. Velasco also also shares: how and why he chose the waltz to form the backbone for a key boss-fight cue, the delicate conversation he had hiring a vocalist to do heavy-breathing for the score without revealing its context, and, for another boss-fight, how, after missing his window to record with a choir, he was still able to instrumentally convey the religious aspects of the confrontation. You've heard it's murmurings and felt it in your blood and it's finally here! This week the Save Room proudly presents Bloodboys--a Bloodborne dissection. If you're wondering why we're talking about a 3 year old game for an entire episode in 2018--well don't. 1). It's Backlog season and 2). It's a damn good game. In this episode we go deep into our time with Bloodborne discussing gameplay mechanics, our best strategies, our favorite boss moments, and go mad over the game's deeply engrossing (and grotesque) lore. We also compare it to the other Souls games and how this might be one of the most accessible titles FromSoftware has put out to date. If you were on the fence about this game--let the good blood guide your way. We had a lot of fun putting this one together and we hope you hunters have as much fun listening to it. We'd like to thank our sponsors, Soulsborne and Soulslike and their newest brew, Paleblood IPA. It had us feeling limber and kept us hacking and slashing all through the blood frenzy of the night. And of course, thank you all for listening. ---------------------------------------- All music and soundbtytes courtesy of FromSoftware, Bloodborne, and Sony Entertainment. So I entitled this podcast "How to Work with a Music Composer" because it is a mystery to many filmmakers. As visual storytellers we focus so much energy and effort to the moving image. For many of us music is an after thought. What would Jaws, Indiana Jones or Star Wars be without the musical score? With technology it has become more and more affordable to have a beautiful score added to your indie film. A computer can't do it alone, you still need a maestro to compose that music for you.A good score can add a great deal of production value to your little indie film. This is why I invited composer Cris Velasco on the show. Cris and I have worked on many projects together. His music has definitely elevated my projects. Here's some info on the man:Cris Velasco is a multiple award-winning composer of epic orchestral, dark experimental and modern hybrid music scores for video games, film and television. After graduating from UCLA with a degree in Music Composition, Velasco pursued his passion to write music for visual media; his first major release was composing for Sony’s blockbuster God of War. A prolific and versatile composer, Velasco has become one of the most sought-after composers in interactive entertainment, scoring many major titles including Company of Heroes 2, Mass Effect 3, Borderlands 2, ZombiU, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, God of War 3, Tron: Evolution, Borderlands, God of War 2, Darksiders, Clive Barker’s Jericho, and many more.I wanted Cris to go into his creative process and how he likes to work with filmmakers and creatives. Plus you get a bonus "Star Wars" themed music score he created on the Warner Brothers backlot.

If you were an avid arcade player and had access to coins at any time in the early to late 90s, whether it was at your local convenience store, video store or Family Restaurant, chances are you’ll have spent all of your time and quarters (or tokens depending on the place) on a video arcade. More Importantly on a fighting game ... hammering buttons, frantically waggling a joystick to execute a devastating final blow to beat your opponent and pumping your parents pocket change into Street Fighter 2 , Killer Instinct or Mortal kombat. The arcades have all but died out now, but the love for these time consuming franchises has never died, So put away those quarters and enjoy these amazing beats from the greatest console fighting games in this special STAGE of the Retro VGM Revival Hour! Instead of another set of movie reviews this week I decided to make things consistent and come out with something in it's stead. I have a couple video games to review this round as well as one anime. I start things off with Mass Effect 3, hopefully it's as spoiler free as I think it is but if anyone has problems with it you can send an email. I didn't address in detail the controversy with ME3's ending(s) I just discuss my interaction with them. Following ME3 is Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, a good game but I think it shows it's age just a little bit. Overall it has a fun story, but it has two failings that keep this title from being amazing. And lastly I try to talk about Ikki Tousen, but honestly I have little to no idea what it's about and that's after watching 6 episodes. So if it sounded disjointed that's because I was confused and lost. I doubt anyone will be surprised by the score.
