Hey there folks, and welcome back to another exciting episode of Trophy Talk! This week Josh and Colin and joined by none other than Skrilus, hot off of his recent acquisition of the Devil May Cry platinum, to discuss all things trophies, statistics, and PlayStation. We start off the show talking about the recent news surrounding WB Games and the closure of three of their primary studios including Monolith. What does this mean for the future of the IP under the WB banner and do we think the closures were justified? From there we move in to Platinum shout outs pulled from our Discord community before jumping into a whole slew of questions. How do we feel about our current backlog for 2025? Is there one particular game that we already have the platinum in that we want to go back for the DLC and 100%? What are our thoughts on Shuhei Yoshida's departure from PlayStation and Sony? All of these questions fill up a good chunk of time and discussion. Additionally, the crew takes a stab at (with no research) compiling the list of the top 6 most difficult games to Platinum. As you can imagine, there are some familiar names there but some of the nominees might surprise you! Lastly we get into what we've been playing across the month of February. Skrilus goes into more detail on his journey to conquer Devil May Cry, and just what bosses and strategies ended up making the difference for him. Josh earns a staggering 13 Platinum trophies across the month but focuses primarily on Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii and Pacific Drive, and Colin finally completes Star Wars: Outlaws before jumping into another boomer shooter classic in TimeSplitters. Thank you as always for listening to the episode, we hope that you enjoy!

Well hello there everyone and welcome back to another episode of Trophy Talk. In this our second to last episode of 2024, the crew has all assembled together to chat about the games that have been grabbing our attention during the final weeks of the calendar year. And what an exciting end of year it's turning out to be with the game awards announcements, PSN Wrap Ups, and new games still releasing at a steady clip. 2024 will undoubtedly go down as a great year in gaming for many of us. However, while we were intending to talk about our official PS wrap ups during this episode, at the time of recording the roll out of the year in review feature was experiencing significant delays and issues, with most people unable to actually access it as intended on December 10th. The end result is that most of this episode is spent discussing Patreon submitted questions, plat shout outs, and Rage God mentions from our Discord. There's nothing wrong with that though, not in the least, as celebrating this community that we've built and the accomplishments that you all have had is one of the best parts about making Trophy Talk episodes. Topics include, what would change in our trophy hunting habits if we got banned from PSN Profiles, what game we think Trump would be an excellent commentator of, and what movie released this year would have had a great opportunity for a tie in AA game. In terms of our individual hunts and successes, Darryl talks up and praises his time on PS Extra this year with two more titles, Tales of Kenzera: Zau, and Killer Frequency. All the while, Josh continues his vole exterminations while also taking time to become incredibly proficient at a tough rhythm game Spin Rhythm XD. Finally, Colin takes some time to discuss one of his favorite ever GameCube era games in Time Splitters 2. We hope that you all enjoy the content and the episode, thank you for listening!

One of the mighty three Xbox exclusives alongside Halo and Gears. Forza Motorsport / Horizon series have been a staple franchise signalling that Microsoft is insistent to bring its other games to more platforms which is cool. Hi-Fi Rush developer Tango Gameworks gets acquired by Krafton publishing which is great to see devs get picked up rather than let go. The guys talk about the big year that's shaping up for PlayStation in 2025 just… dont believe every rumor you see online about it… like no one knows when a PlayStation Showcase is happening please relax lol Gamescom Opening Night Live is happening next week and we think PlayStation might be there no matter what we'll be streaming the event. Nintendo and Microsoft both had rock-solid presentations during this faux-E3 time of year, and it has some PlayStation fans on their back foot. Why does it seem like Sony is dragging its feet when its competitors are going full steam ahead? Isn't there anything to say? And while many (including some of us on this show) make the argument that its lack of communication doesn't particularly matter in the long run -- PlayStation 5 is doing great as-is -- the consternation is nonetheless growing in the vacuum of silence. Plus: Dragon Quest III HD-2D and a Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Collection are both en route to PS5, as is Hironobu Sakaguchi's Fantasian, while the seventh China Hero Game, Evotinction, is slated for release later this year, Shovel Knight prepares his triumphant return, Bluepoint reconfirms it's working on an original title, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! Did developer Game Science really get shaken-down for $7 million by a DEI consultancy? Will Hollow Knight: Silksong ever actually come out, or is it a myth? Whatever happened to the reconstituted Telltale Games? Has Colin gained full royal status, complete with new honorary titles? Please keep in mind that our timestamps are approximate, and will often be slightly off due to dynamic ad placement. 0:00:00 - Intro 0:30:51 - Happy Juneteenth Dustin 0:43:53 - Dustin's demise 0:49:39 - Around the NFL RIP? 0:53:18 - Dog pee scandal 1:01:06 - Expectations are the thief of joy 1:03:04 - Corrections 1:08:14 - Horizon at a Nintendo Direct 1:14:33 - Bluepoint's original IP 1:24:51 - Uncharted 2 movie 1:28:45 - PS Portal Update 1:30:58 - Sony will not be at Gamescom 1:33:16 - Sony owned company skipping PS5 publishing 1:39:17 - TimeSplitters rated for PS4 and PS5 1:50:46 - Jedi: Survivor rated for PS4 1:52:02 - Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP release date 1:55:02 - Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition 1:57:05 - Tomba! 2 is being remastered 2:02:24 - What We've Been Playing 2:32:13 - Dragon Quest III HD-2D 2:53:37 - Fantasian is coming to PlayStation 3:04:42 - Evotinction 3:10:41 - Marvel Vs Capcom Fighting Collection 3:19:15 - Shovel Knight news 3:28:07 - How long can Sony keep it low key? 3:39:01 - Does Sony need more games? 3:52:38 - Games journalism ethics 4:07:29 - Toxic Silksong fans 4:16:02 - Where is Telltale Games? 4:18:52 - What happened to video game reviews? With Paper Mario 100 Year Door getting a remaster we have started playing even more games in the Mario RPG genre, like Mario + Luigi Superstar Saga. The rpg Mario games are something special. They show that you can have memorable characters and similar feelings when playing games from completely different genres. Then there were some surprising games that we have recently played as well. Like Pokemon Conquest, a cute Pokemon tactics game that will take 100's of hours to complete as you conquer feudal Japan. Or taking it back to Timesplitters, remember that game? GamesIndustry.biz's James Batchelor and Chris Dring discuss the biggest stories of the past week. First, we discuss the Eidos Montreal layoffs and the cancellation of a new Deus Ex title, as well as the implications for the future of this franchise - and many of the other franchises, such as fan favourite (and Chris favourite) TimeSplitters, whose future depends on the outcome of the Embracer Group restructure. Next, we delve into the changes proposed by Apple to comply with the European Union's Digital Markets App; seemingly opening iOS to third-party app stores, but also introducing new commission fees and complicating the process for mobile developers and publishers who seek to use alternatives to Apple's own systems. Finally, there are the 1,900 layoffs announced across Microsoft's gaming businesses and the potential impact these may have on the various video game sectors in which the company operates. As always, you can get more news, insight and analysis at www.gamesindustry.biz. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
What does a podcast that looks at older stealth / stealthy videos games do after reviewing Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy on its last episode? It goes back 20 years to look at a stealth-action game from 2004 that is often compared to the aforementioned Psi-Ops! We're talking Second Sight! On this episode of Stealth Boom Boom, we look at the formation of developer Free Radical Design and how Redemption was going to be their first game before Timesplitters was even thought about. We also discuss the work of Death In Paradise's Jermain Julien on a behind-the-scenes feature, as well as what David Doak was saying publicly about the studio's number one competition. In our review, you'll hear some chat on enemies with awful peripheral vision, MGS touches like lockers and surveillance cameras, avoidance as an option, how two of us missed quite important in-game prompts, herky-jerky movement, decent and alright and grand stealth sections, optional Resident Evil camera, the Charm (and power) of invisibility, possessing lads, scoping out an area as a ghost fella, psi blasting in secret (?), the inability to simply throw while using Telekinesis, John Vattic being a machine with a gun in his hands, first-person flourishes, a peculiar sniper scope view, another asylum, a very unconvincing street gang, unnecessary training, a compelling twisty-turny sci-fi story, Nigel Thornberry, and toothless & fishy characters that some of us like. After all that, the lads take you through what some of the critics were saying about the game around the time it came out, and then they give their final verdicts on whether Second Sight is a Pass, a Play, or an Espionage Explosion. For those who would like to play along at home, we'll be discussing, reviewing and dissecting Syphon Filter on the next episode of Stealth Boom Boom.IMPORTANT LINKS TO THINGS
