Over the last 9 years I've spent a considerable amount of time building a resilient mindset.This was a conscious decision made after going into college and having to face some unexpected hardships my ego wasn't prepared to face.Luckily this was also around the time I discovered Youtube and rabbit holes you can go down. I found a ton of videos around motivation which then turned into mindset talks, podcasts, psychology talks, exc.This is when I started the journey of building a resilient mindset.There were PLENTY of failures along the way but I'm making this podcast because after this year with my knee injury I have been reflecting back and appreciating how well I was able to handle the tough outcome I had to overcome with my knee injury.On top of this I would not be recording this podcast or owning my own coaching business if it wasn't for learning these concepts and methods to truly develop a resilient mindset.Out of all the best concepts out there I have distilled them down to the top 3 I believe are needed if you truly want to create a resilient mindset and share your gift with the world.BE->DO->HAVE-This formula was massive for me when it came to understanding how you actually create change.-Most people have it backwards, most people think it looks like this...HAVE->DO->BE.They think if they had a resilient mind they'd do more things that resilient people and and have a resilient mindset...WRONG!-In order to BE someone with a resilient mind you must first CHOOSE to BE someone who now DOES things resilient people do! There are 3 different ways we all approach the idea of "success" as we aim to reach our goals. One of the most common is the Have-Do-Be mindset. In this mindset we surmise that "When I HAVE more [time/money/energy/skill, etc..], then I'll do more [insert what you really want to do more of or start doing here], and the happier I'll BE." The other common mindset is the Do-Have-Be mindset. With this mindset, we believe "The more I DO, the more I'll HAVE, and the happier I'll BE." There is however another mindset that is wildly different, and perhaps even a bit counter-intuitive at first glance called the Be-Do-Have mindset. For many, once understood, this mindset can be a much less stressful yet much more rewarding way to live. "That's why they're not you" [Was my reply] We're on a mission to help one million people RISE by 2030 - join the movement at www.myrise.co.uk There are a couple of independent group training facilities in a few other towns that I sometimes trained at in the pre COVID days. Not over the last year or so. All owned by friends in the Fitness Industry and options that sometimes make logistical sense. In Sheffield or Rotherham when we were staying at the in laws. Bakewell for when I was spending the day over there between school runs (my two older boys have half the week over that way with their mum and go to school there). Buxton when I'm driving past at session time and it's nice for a change. All a bit different to what we do, but same end of the spectrum – a group session based programme. I've not been to the South Yorkshire or Bakewell ones for over 16 months. I've done a couple of sessions at Buxton for the first time recently. The other day I was chatting to one of the guys in the session who I've trained along side several times in the past. His entire lower leg was in a large plastic brace. He'd torn his Achilles tendon. And so was doing a modified version of the session that involved only exercises for the mid to upper body. I mentioned that I'd had somewhat similar when I fell off a ladder at work when I was 27 and broke bones in my foot and ankle and strained some ligaments. And everyone thought I was mad when I was back in the next morning just training upper body. I asked how long till he was 100%. “It's a year till I can jump again” he said. “My friends all say that, if they were me, they'd have have a year off and ‘enjoy myself'. “That's why they're not you” I replied. Because from my, experience, the biggest difference between yo-yoing back and forth over the years but not quite getting where we'd like to…………. And getting there and, give or take, maintaining over time……….. Is the way we see ourselves. Our self image. The kind of person we consider ourselves to be. If we consider ourselves to be some who “enjoy my food too much” and that we “really should do some exercise”………. We're probably not going to get the body we want. We can still enjoy our food, of course (I always do)………… And exercise might never be our favourite thing (it's not mine)………… But a change to seeing ourselves as someone who exercises regularly and eats appropriately because of how that ties into what we value……….. And the kind of life we want to live………….. Can become what enables those things to happen. We often get the old Have-Do-Be equation the wrong way around. We think about the thing we want to ‘Have' (more money, slimmer body, etc)……….. Then look at what we need to ‘Do' to get those things. And hope that, by forcing ourselves to do those things, we will start to ‘Be' that kind of person. But lasting success usually comes from changing and evolving who we are (or perceive ourselves to be)………. Many people feel that life happens TO them… I believe that life happens FOR us and what happens depends on the choices we make. I am not here to tell you what to think, believe, or what to do. I am an encourager and a cheerleader for all Mamas and I'm hoping to inspire you to make a different choice than what I'm seeing all around me. Sadly, what I see these days is unhappiness, sad faces, anger, and irritation EVERYWHERE. It breaks my heart. I know things are way different than they were prior to March 2020, but why is the go-to being angry instead of happy? Do we want to just get through life or do we want to enjoy it?I am starting a movement of optimism. A ‘Smiling Through The Chaos’ movement. It is my mission to encourage, inspire, and be a model for all Moms to choose JOY and put a SMILE on their faces. Even if you don’t feel it, do it anyway, give it a try- no harm no foul if it doesn’t work out, but at least you TRIED! Doesn't your attitude switch almost instantly when you smile? It’s tough to be angry or to have a bad day when you have a smile on your face. I learned a strategy within the last year called BE DO HAVE. BE who you want to be NOW, instead of waiting until you HAVE something in order to BE what or where you want. If you want to be happy- then BE happy! Make the conscious decision that you are HAPPY NOW! NOT when something happens- when the pandemic ends, when I go visit so and so, when I go on vacation. NOW! Nobody controls you except YOU. Most people have it opposite and HAVE DO BE.. When the pandemic ends, I will be happy. When I have a bigger house I will be happy. When I have a million dollars I will be secure. I can’t BE whatever it is I want until I HAVE something.If you are waiting until some outside force does something in order for you to be happy, you will never be happy. Once you have that “thing”, you still likely won’t be satisfied… you will look to the next thing and the next and the next. It’s a never ending cycle of dissatisfaction. This is how most people choose to live, though.How about we choose different and BE DO HAVE! BE the person you want to be, do the things that will get you there and you will have it. Nobody and nothing is going to save us. Nothing. Only YOU can choose YOU. Choose to BE who you want to be NOW!If you are waiting to put a smile on your face until everything gets better, that’s a disservice to you and your kids. What makes you think that once you get “there” you will be any different? One of my mentors says “What got you here won’t get you there.” Being the same person, having the same attitude, living the same life won’t get you where you want to go. YOU have to make the choice to BE who you want to be NOW!I hope this resonates with you and you’ll make the choice to join my Movement (see what I did there- haha). Everyone wants to achieve success. The question is: what does "success" really mean and, more importantly, how do you get it? Most of us have taught about success in the wrong way. We have been taught to set goals, create actions to pursue those goals, and then enjoy the rewards. The problem with this model is that it makes your happiness contingent on your results. The challenge with money is when we do not have a healthy relationship with money and that's where we usually deflect it."- Ryan Yokome What do you think about when you hear the word, "money?" What do you feel when you receive your monthly paycheck? Do you have happy thoughts and feeling of relief and relaxation? Or do you have negative thoughts and feel anxious with worry? Today, CEO of Money & Miracles Breakthrough Coaching and the Co-Founder of the Soulful Money Masterclass, Ryan Yokome, shares how we can tap into our own lives to discover and embrace the currency of wellness. Change Your Mindset on Money "When you know who you are and you know yourself and you're comfortable with that, you can go anywhere and do anything because you don't have to be someone that you're not. You can show up as you and it's so liberating and freeing."- Ryan Yokome Each of us has a personal story with money and it begins with our background and our parents' relationship with money. Whether or not their relationship with money was good, if they said something about money or had a certain attitude and behavior towards it, we picked up on that when we were younger. Fortunately, their experience with money does not have to be the same as our story and relationship with money. To help us change our own money story, Ryan explained the concept of Be-Do-Have and its reversal pattern, Have-Do-Be. A majority of us believe that there is a lack of money. However, it is an abundant source of energy that is always available to us. All we have to do is change our thinking and approach to money and do reverse thinking with Have-Do-Be. First believe that you already have the money that you need. Next, do something differently that will allow you to receive that money and finally become that person who has the money. Focus on the Essence of Money "How you tap into a different space of magnetizing money in your life is how you focus on the essence. You focus on the feeling that money will give you if you had those things now. What's the essence? Would you feel more joy, happiness, relaxed? Cause you're not actually after money, but a feeling. "-Ryan Yokome The key to help you change your mindset on money is to focus on the essence of money and what it means to you. How do you feel if you imagine that you already have all the money or monthly paycheck that you need to get to where you want to be? Is it happiness? Relaxation? Success? You don't want money, but a feeling. The feeling that money gives you. As soon as you focus on that feeling, you will change what you do because your actions will be different and you'll become a different person during that process. You want to put all these feelings about money on the table and process the feeling to help make the unconscious conscious. What's your story with money? Is it your story or your family's story? Tap Into The 5 Positive Money Beliefs "The currency of wellness is connection."- John W. Travis, MD, MPH To experience the positive mindset change of currency, Ryan explained the 5 Positive Money Beliefs: 1) Meaning Money is neutral and we are the ones who give it energy and meaning. You can actually experience how your life is changing depending on how you approach money. Money gives meaning when you notice external changes such as where you live, what possessions you have, what food you eat each day etc. People will also give you clues that money is changing your life because they will notice it too. They will notice that there is something different about you. Lastly, because we can change the energy and meaning that money gives us, you decide what your money story is and will be. Life is not based on luck or genes, but the choices that we make and that creates our money story. 2) Relationships Treat money as if it were a person. Now, how would you treat money if you were dating it? How do you treat it when you log into your online bank account or when you get paid? Does it give you happiness or cause you stress? 3) Purpose What is the purpose of money for you? Why do you want to make more money and what do you want to do with it? If you're not giving money a purpose or being intentional with it, then you're not connecting with it. Ryan gave a great example that you connect with your money when you pay your bills because that money helps pay the salaries of the employees of the other business. When you give your money a purpose, you tap into the essence of it and how it makes you feel. 4) Giving Ryan believes that if you give to another person, that you're actually giving back to yourself as well. So if you shift into a different state of love and abundance, you pass that feeling on to other people. Giving the genuine feelings of love and abundance to others is just what many of us need to feel that excitement and purpose for life that we crave. Give compliments, a smile, or a "Have a nice day!" with real feeling the next time you're at the check out counter. 5) Receiving For many of us, it is so much easier to give than to receive because we haven't learned how to receive love. Past relationships and experiences have caused us to feel like we didn't receive the love that we wanted or needed. Because of this, it can be hard to receive love from others or we don't know why other people are tryitng to give us love. Especially in a world of technology, we are starving for true connection with other people, but we don't know how to accept it when it's given to us. When we receive money from work or as a gift from another person, we can practice receiving love and abudance from another source. This source that will help us buy food, pay for a home, and use to help us get to where we want to be in life.
