Jonathon Mason - Retirement Specialist - How to start saving for the rest of your life

In todays episode we are talking about things a little different, finances!Jonathon is an insurance broker, retirement specialist who has a sports background like myself playing soccer at the professional level for a couple years before a series of injuries cut his playing career short. Today we sat down and talked about finances, an area of the world I believe a lot of us lack knowledge in, and as a result we lack our our financial security and freedom. Today Jonathon tells his story as well as educates on the value of getting into this world at whatever stage of life you're in!The discussion shifted to common financial mistakes, with Chris pointing out that many individuals lack the discipline and knowledge to create effective financial plans. Jonathan likened financial planning to using a GPS, noting that many navigate their finances without a clear strategy. He identified procrastination and confusion over numerous financial options as major issues, leading to ineffective management and delayed retirement planning. Jonathan also highlighted key mistakes such as being unproactive and overly reliant on employer benefits, which can lead to financial instability, and encouraged seeking independent financial advisors for robust strategies.Jonathan and Chris analyzed Dave Ramsey's financial principles, agreeing with many but identifying key disagreements, particularly regarding the snowball method for debt repayment and the necessity of credit scores. They advocated for permanent life insurance policies as a financial safety net. Jonathan discussed the changing financial landscape, noting the burden of debt many families face today compared to the past.He emphasized the need for tailored financial strategies, especially for higher earners, and expressed confidence in Tony Robbins' financial insights. They concluded by discussing the importance of financial literacy and proactive planning, offering guidance for individuals to evaluate their circumstances and prepare for future challenges. Some books we recommend on the show are: Procrastination Cure - Jeffery CombsHow I Raised Myself from Failure to Success in Selling - Frank BettgerReinventing Yourself - Steve ChandlerLetting Go - David HawkinsThe Original Wall Street Journal - David Kansas  The Power of Zero - David McKnight  Money Master The Game - Tony Robbins (this was my first book and was a massive eye opener!) Get these books and start going on your 90 day sprit now so in 2025 you finally have a grasp on your money and you have your GPS sets with the correct destination and the correct direction along the way. Until next time guys,Let's Turn the page with Chris Page and move into the next chapter of your life!!

Today I'm emphasizing the vital importance of daily movement and maintaining a full range of motion to prevent stiffness and injuries, a contrast to the effortless mobility observed in children. I talk about my own personal experiences of various injuries, illustrating how they can severely impact daily activities and lead to a cycle of compensation that exacerbates further injuries. I also highlight the gradual reduction of range of motion over time, which can leave individuals vulnerable to injuries when engaging in activities requiring greater flexibility.I also discuss the significance of synovial fluid in joint health, produced through movement, and differentiated between flexibility and mobility, noting that many people experience pain due to a lack of awareness regarding their physical limitations. Through my Bulletproof program, my aim is to restore clients' mobility and flexibility, ultimately helping them avoid injuries and enhance their overall movement capabilities.Today's episode was a little bit more educational than story telling so I hope you enjoy the change up of topic and style in today's episode! Talk with you all next week!

Long time no see! I've been MIA from the podcasting game and I apologize, it can be hard to run a podcast, your own coaching business, social media, taxes, clients workouts, exc. But with my new move, time for the podcast once again will be possible and priority for me because I believe one of the best ways I can connect with you all and really share my expertise in personal development is through podcasting in long form content so you can hear how I analyze and articulate my thoughts as I process through them and use these lessons in your own life. Today I'm going over the last 2 years of my life as I'm getting ready to move over to the West Coast of Florida and live in St. Pete and grow my coaching business in that area. In today's podcast I go back to some of the toughest times I went through these last two years: my knee injury, getting kicked out of a friends house and being told by that friend he thinks I'm going to be a failure, having to move back in with my mom, relationship break ups and more. These tough times could've broken me and made me give up on my dreams, instead I talk about how I used these "unfortunate circumstances" and use them to my advantage and how you can do the same in your own life. If you're over on the west coast of Florida hit me up and let's train! If you're just an avid listener I promise to get back to regular podcasting for you and I appreciate your support! Talk soon! Chris Page

In today's episode I am talking with you about what to do after you've started using the motivation continuum and have started to workout consistently but feel like you still don't "look" like you workout. Today we are talking about how to cut the "fat" out of your life. The fat I'm referring to today are the next couple things that can hold someone back from being an averagely fit person to a very fit and happy person. I'm talking about cutting out the people in your life who are keeping you in the same spot. I'm talking about finally overcoming the hurdle of tracking your food and actually understanding what's going in and what's going out. I'm talking about setting proper boundaries so you can create enough space for you to be consistent long enough to see results and you creating boundaries to allow space for the right people to come in your life who aren't going to self sabotage you. I got fired up on this one because I remember having to go through this stage (side note you will continually have to do this as you grow...its not a one off) and how hard it is so Im very passionate about telling you all the truth of what it really takes for you all to live to your highest potential! ITS.ALL.DAY.I hope you enjoy the podcast and if you did please subscribe and review the podcast with 5 stars to help me grow this channel and get bigger and better guests on!

Today's episode is my new way of tackling the question “I have low motivation, what can I do to increase my chances of feeling more motivated?“  (Download your continuum HERE) First thing to understand is that motivation is a feeling which means it comes and goes. It isn't binary; you don‘t just have it or not. Motivation moves up and down a spectrum much like our emotions and feelings do. In today's episode I'm sharing with you my concept around motivation. The spectrum of where motivation can go, the highest order as well as the lowest lows. If you can adopt this concept you will realize that there are certain actions and beliefs that will either keep you at one level of motivation and there are other actions and beliefs that can move you up and down the spectrum. When you realize this you see what maybe has landed you in a low state and also give you the confidence to now know how to move up the levels of motivation to the Highest Order.   Below is a link for you to download the PDF of this continuum so you can print and have easily accessible for you to check back on when you're feeling low. Also attached is a blank continuum that you can use to fill out for any aspect of your life: Sleep Quality, Nutrition, Relationships, exc. I hope you find value from it : )Click HERE!!

What Health And Nutrition Really Look Like Traveling

Last week I went to San Diego to visit my Aunt and Cousins for the first time in years! While on my way back from this trip I realized how much people suffer internally when it comes to their thoughts about their health and nutrition when traveling and I wanted to help them with a new framework. Today I talk about how: I didn't log my foodMy routines were somewhat similar when I traveledI had an environment that leaned towards healthy eating and even was adjusted for my way of eatingMy trip involved a lot of walking and exploringTrained 4x on a 7 day trip (so trained more on vacation than at home recently because I actually had the time to workout and I missed it)Still had drinks every nightAte all the foods I wanted which included a massive burger, cake, tacos, exc.Breakfast was the same almost every day just like at home so I had some consistency no matter whatBrought a lot of snacks for the flights like Chomp sticks, protein bars, LMNT PacksTried to eat as healthy as I could at the airportsEven had 2 drinks on the plane ride homeAt a certain point I just stopped even thinking about if I'm hitting enough food or doing enough, that wasn't the point of the trip, the point of the trip was to recharge, explore and have fun. None of those things require a 6 pack to achieve so why care so much about the food and your body when you're on vacation.I was attracting people into my environment just because I was in such a good mood being switched off from work. That is way more magnetic than a sexy body I promise you.I also made a point of trying to be bold while I was on the trip because I know it's going to be a little bit til I get my next planned break to keep me going so if I only have this week I better live it up and squeeze as much out of it as I can, so that way I feel good going into another period of disciplined consistency. If you want to enjoy your trip with food and health then you also need these periods of disciplined consistency where you say no to the foods, drinks, parties, exc. so you are in control of your work:rest ratio and you're not just following along with what everyone else is doing because have different goals than they do.I hope you enjoy the episode and if you do please like and subscribe so you don't miss on the next episode! Also if you're listening please reach out and tell me what you like the most about the show so I can continue to improve it! Til next time!Chris Page

In today's episode I'm talking about TIME! Specifically this new concept I have around time after visiting my grandparents in their retirement community in Pensacola Florida.I realized that even if I live to 100 years old, that doesn't mean I have 100 years to do certain things I want in my life. I only have so much time as a single young adult to do certain things I want in my life. Once I reach a certain age in my 30s I'll be in a relationship, I'll start a family, etc. So this means that the time you have now to go after your goals is limited, its finite! You won't be getting this time back, so we have to take the risks and the chances now in life because those opportunities may never come back. I hope you enjoy the episode and if you do please give this podcast a 5 star review and share it on your social media so others can hear. In today's show I summarize some of the key topics that were shared in another podcast by Chris Williamson and Jordan Peterson. That podcast was 3 hours long! I've condensed the main topics down to around 20 mins and added my own spin to these topics to make them more relatable to the listeners. The main topic and point of this show to challenge all of you to take up a new mental framework that states "You are morally obligated to do great things!". This concept has been lost over the years as our society is getting softer and our everyday lives are getting easier. The reason why you're obligated to do great things is because if you don't you will become bitter when seeing others around you who have taken the challenge and succeeded. When you see them conquer their fears and realize you never faced yours, you will become bitter...And when you become bitter, you bring darkness into the world instead of light. You may think you don't matter but you are part of a collective society and WHAT YOU DO MATTERS! So this podcast is here to motivate and urge you to go after whatever has been calling to you! Take the leap!

I've been gone for almost 3 months here's what happened:I had 2 romantic relationships blow up around this time. They blew up because of me tbh and thinking I could manage both of themI tried to keep one of them alive but it was hurting me more than filling my cup upMy best friends mom got diagnosed with CancerMy mom and her man got married and I officiated the weddingSoccer season ended and I had 2 injuries I had to overcome from the seasonI started my newest certification for OPEX which was 2 hours every Tuesday for 12 weeks and will take me a year to finishMy dad's wife had been sick for the last 2 years and she just passed away a couple weeks agoI let go of the relationship I tried to keep alive and that to me felt like someone in my life just diedHealth complications I've been dealing with all year were persistent during this time of high stressMy business was slowly declining due to the fact that I was declining as a personThe reason I'm making this podcast is to share my struggles with you all so that you can relate and know you're not alone when shit gets hardBut also made this podcast to share how looking back at these last 3 months; a lot of the pain I am going through now could've been avoided if I was able to forgo the immediate pleasure that most of my decisions gave me.The 2 relationships blowing up is really what's taken me out for this long. I did tell both of these people I wasn't looking for anything serious and that I would be talking to other people but the way I handled it was poor and as a result it caused me more pain and griefThese relationships were great in their own ways but they weren't serving me and helping me become the man I want to be or help my business because if my personal life is in turmoil, as a solopreneur that turmoil will effect my business so I have to be hyper vigialant of who I let in and if you're out there trying to work on yourself then you need to be just as vigilant so you can avoid what I've been going throughThe reason I made this podcast is to share my fuckups but also to call out anyone listening who is trying to make improvements in your life and ask them “what remarkably stupid things am I doing right now that I could change, that I would be willing to change?”If you ask that question and really want to know the answer you'll get some answers you don't want to hear.I didn't want to let go of this relationship, its one I've had over the last 3 years of my life (with me from the beginning of my own coaching business) but in order to be the guy who can lead others, make 10k months consistently, be in quality shape, and have positive habits, rituals, friendships in my life then I had to let her go and its one of the hardest things I've doneI'm still hurting from it while recording and will probably still be hurting from it long after this podcast is posted but I'm making this now to share with you all that I'm choosing the harder choice now in life in the hopes that there is something better for me in the future and I urge you to do the sameI've had to do this along my journey plenty of times; first it was giving up junk foods, then it was stopping drinking, then it was putting the weed down, now its let the relationship go….For you it might be a different vice but ask yourself is this vice getting me closer to my goal or just helping me think its okay that I'm never going to reach my targets I've set out?If your vice is only for the latter then this podcast was made for you as a challenge to stop your self destruction for 60 days and then evaluate and see if you want it back in your life or not.I've already started, now it's your turn!

You Need Tough Times to Grow

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 5, 2023 7:28

Since last podcast about getting unexpectedly kicked out of my roommates house I have had a couple podcasts but then went silent for a little bit. The truth is since leaving my old place I've doubled my business and don't have to pay rent so I've made more while saving more. 3x the income all from a situation that at the time looked detrimental to my life and my business. I wanted to make this podcast about moments in my life that looked like something terrible was going to come of it but ended up turning out to be some of the best things that could have happened to me looking back because they forced me to grow. If you want an extraordinary life you have to realize that a life like this comes at a cost and the cost is usually a very painful and tough price to pay. Physically, mentally, financially and spiritually. And if you're not willing to pay these cost then you can't expect to live an extraordinary life. Sometimes the cost of that life means going through hardships that shape you into the person who's made it through such hard times and as a result has come out stronger for it. Maybe there are some stories in your life that you think are the worst thing that's ever happened to you but in time they were pivotal points of growth. And that's what these stories of mine are and how they've shaped me. Story #1 Getting diagnosed with Adrenal Insufficiency at 9 years old-At the time I didn't know much about it, I've only learned more as I've gotten older but Imagine your son is completely healthy and then 7 years into his life he starts slowing down in sports, has no energy, secretly he can't see when he gets up too fast and all the test you are doing are showing no answers to what's going on for 2 years until you find out he's got an auto immune disease that isn't curable and it'll effect the rest of his life… (The story you tell yourself and how you respond to adversity is what truly matters. I remember as a kid just always saying “this isn't going to make me any different than anyone else, if I have to work harder to get to the same level as another kid because my body isn't at 100% so be it.”) Looking back now, that drive to not want this to be a disadvantage for me has always driven me to want to work harder than others, one major issue was throwing up and needing a lot of meds to combat that stress on the body so having this disease actually prevented me from going out and drinking til I threw up and if I didn't have that restriction I don't know how my live would've turned out. Story #2 - College Career not working out the way I thought it would College did not go as planned. It took me 3 years to get some of my first consistent starts for my team. I almost left twice at that point. Almost gotten a DUI and went to hospital for over drinking in my first two years. This was some of the hardest times of my life, alone at college and the one thing I could lean on being soccer was even gone so I struggled. This ultimately led to me finding CrossFit and then ultimately my career though. And throughout there were so many lessons learned with regards to confidence, mental toughness, self belief, and learning to not listen to criticism to name just a few. And these lessons wouldn't have been learned if when I went to school I just started the entire 4 years I was there without having to fight for my spot. It ended extremely well my last season with a scholarship increase and a great run of games during my last season. But the biggest thing I got out of it was pride for not quitting even though I fucking hated it for the majority of the time I was there. I didn't quit when the going got tough. Story #3 - Tearing my knee last year Last year I wanted to challenge myself by making on a team as a field player to show people that with the proper training and nutrition you can be whoever you want to be and so at my first tryout after preparing for it I get into a tackle where me and this player collides…and this collision results in 4 tears in and around my knee; and I'm out for a year.. At the time this was very tough, I had hiking plans paid for and ready to go on a week after this tryout I had to cancel. As a personal trainer I use my body to move around the gym and help others but now I can barely walk, and moving my body is one of my loves and outlets for stress and now I'm going to be stuck on a couch a whole bunch resting as this knee heals for what I thought would be a year. But this injury turned out to be one of the best things that could've happened to me. I got to use stem cells for my knee and to prove to my ortho that I could comeback from  this injury without surgery. I was already learning kneesovertoes training and getting certified to help others heal their knee and I got to be patient 0 when it came to implementing these techniques and principles so I know they work and now because of my injury I can relate to my clients way more because I went through the same thing they did and they also gives them hope that they can comeback if they see me playing again. So I turned an injury that people dub as a “career ender” into a business opportunity that is 70% of the work I do today and I wouldn't have as much success as I do right now if it wasn't for this injury.I hope after hearing this podcast you can believe there is hope for you during your hard time that later on as you reflect you will see how this "terrible time" was a gift for you to grow and upgrade your life!  If you liked this podcast please subscribe the channel so you can help the show grow and allow me to bring bigger and better guest on the podcast as our viewership increases! Talk with you all next week!

In today's episode I talk about something that has been at the cornerstone of my personal growth in all areas of my life! Before I couldn't put words to it in the way I'm able to now looking back over the last 5-7 years of my life. Today's podcast is all about the power of compounding growth over a long enough period of time to achieve the results you're truly after. The struggle most of us face in today's day and age is that waiting for something to happen seems foreign in this instant gratification world we live in. Today I'm going to share a story I had with a fellow coach who was struggling with balancing her career and her soon to be first child. She was questioning whether she should even still coach or not and comparing herself to other lady coaches in the industry who had children and went straight back into work and whether that's something she truly wants or is it something that she is getting pressured into doing from society and the fitness industry. I shared an example of how people wanting business success at all costs is the same as someone wanting to get jacked in the gym as fast as possible so they resort to steroids but don't realize the ramifications that come with a choice like that. Much like most people don't realize the true cost of rapid business success or success in any area for that matter. So I talk about in this podcast the same answer I gave her which was to expand your time horizons and focus on 1% gains and recognize how much the power of compounding will get you what you want without costing you all your energy and life in your early and mid 20s. I hope you enjoy the podcast and if you did please follow this channel for more episodes like this and share on your social media so your friends and family can take these lessons with them as well!  -Chris

Today we have Craig Coles on the show! Craig is a mindset and fitness coach I met at a conference in Arizona a couple months back. I heard his story at the conference and spoke with him and knew two things: 1) His energy is infectious and 2) His story is incredible! Craig was an athlete growing up, he was raised with a chip on his shoulder, a "F**k it" mentality that propelled him in life until he met his first battle with life....cancer. Craig was diagnosed with lymphoma and had a 20% chance to live. I love Craig's approach to combating the diagnoses which we speak about in the show. It really highlights his belief in the fact that no matter what it will all work out but you can't quit! It was during his recovery from cancer that Craig had an out of body experience that opened his eyes and his mind to a level of self awareness that hasn't gone away since! Craig's battles don't end there either; Craig talks about how he's been shot and how he was diagnosed with Cardio Myopathy. This ultimately led to him having to close down his facility, go through a serious depression and have to fight against his own heart to come back to alpha!  Craig brings an energy, a clarity, a truth to how he lives his life and this is how he defines a masculine man, a true alpha, someone who can live in their truth. No matter the consequences. This is what he instils in his clients and the message he will instill with you today! I hope you enjoy the podcast! You can find Craig on Instagram and Facebook @only1craigcoles Please like and subscribe to help the show grow and to make sure you don't miss our next episodes this year!

In today's episode I am talking with a good friend of mine Sean McDevitt a.k.a. The Fitness Shaman about his first book "Hack Your Health!!Sean has been on the podcast before going into his more personal story; in case you missed it I'm going to link it here! We get into the writing process in the beginning of the podcast before we dive into 3-4 main chapters of the book.Sean talks about how writing a book was, "very much a personification of the journey, not the destination" and how writing a book is an exercise into finding ways to stay consistent with the writing process and not getting bogged down with the stress of finishing the whole thing.Sean explains how the book idea came to be during COVID when the clients of the coaching business he has with his Wife Dala (DLD Nation) kept asking him similar questions and Sean started to write all them down and keep in a notebook. One day he took a look at the notebook and thought “we have a book here”. So this book is an expansion of some of the most popular questions that comes up for anyone going through their fitness journey as Sean and Dala have helped coach thousands of clients over the years! As we dive into the writing process one lesson I found valuable in listing to Sean was hearing how well he was able to accept criticism albeit after some bristling with his ego and editors on what should stay and what should go in the book.Sean points out that “the best writers say the editing process is where books really come to life” and how well we can accept and handle criticism (ie. coaching) is how a book our your life can come out. Next in the podcast we dive into Chapter 1 of the book and a sub chapter that was “Mindset Hacks for Navigating an Injury, and Life in General”.The reason I wanted to get into this topic is 2 part; one because I thought it would be helpful for a lot of my clients to hear since about 50% of my clients are going through injuries themselves and two because of how valuable I found it when reflecting on my injury this last year. One of the first lessons Sean shares when it comes to navigating an injury is talked about how Kobe Bryant helped Gordon Hayward overcome his broken leg by focusing on gratitude and what you can be grateful for when injured. He also goes on to share how an injury gives you time to now work on other aspects of your fitness outside of the gym such as nutrition, sleep, lifting footage, exc. And lastly Sean talks about how we can prime our brains to start looking for the positives in our injuries and if we can do this it becomes much easier to get through the injury. In Chapter 2 Hacking Imposter Syndrome some topics include:Why do we even get imposter syndrome in the first place? How can we start to get a hold of our imposter syndrome and quiet that noisy obnoxious roommate that Ariana Huffington talked about in the beginning of this chapter? What is a smile file and the highlight reel we should all have in our phones?-Hacking the Comparison Game to your advantageA 2020 study published in the journal of Nature Communication found that humans have around 6,200 thoughts/dayOf those 6,200 thoughts; 12% or 744 of these thoughts involve making comparisons of some kind….this stat blew my mind

Funny enough we actually ended up rooming together last minute as we headed to the mastermind and ended up hitting it off over the weekend and kept in contact since!A couple months after the mastermind Monte starred on CBS' Big Brother Season 24 and took home 2nd place! This was a huge achievement considering a couple years ago Monty was working at a corporate job as a mechanical engineer not really sure where he was going to take his career next. As he was trying to figure out if he wanted to stay in the corporate space, the world changed....COIVD hit!Because of this Monte was forced to work from home in a sales capacity and was feeling unfulfilled. This is when his fitness journey began.Monte would go to put on about 20lbs of weight and as a result he was approached by others in the gym and took on a side job as a personal trainer for a little bit before transitioning fully into the fitness industry. Monte credits a lot of his growth in and outside of the gym with how much work he's put in Mindset Wise! Monte uses what he's learned through books, coaches and mentors to help his own clients believe they can achieve their fitness goals as well. He speaks about the importance of gratitude, habits, affirmations, and breath work to help keep him grounded when emotions pop up and get a little bit too overwhelming. This was especially important when he was on Big Brother and the house started to get empty towards the end! Monte has a podcast himself on the way to be on the lookout for! If you want to connect with Monte or apply for coaching with him you can follow him @taylord_fit _ And if you want to apply for coaching with Monte you can hit this link!

And if that's the case then you most likely are a mouth breather while you sleep. Why is this a big deal? Because when you breathe through your nose you filter air and retain more oxygen vs when you sleep with your mouth open you are brining in more bacteria, getting less oxygen and causing disruption in your sleep from snoring or sleep apnea which is induced by mouth breathing. In today's episode I break down some of the biggest improvements I've had with my sleep over the past two weeks! If you want to learn more you can check out James Nestor on YouTube to hear more of his podcast where he goes deep into the science of nasal breathing vs mouth breathing. If you are convinced and want to start taping your mouth shut you can click the link below and get your Hostage Tape now! https://www.hostagetape.com/discount/CHRIS75390 See you all next week!

This means that 3 key areas of the brain are formed differently and this causes alcohol to effect an alcoholic much different than someone who just has addictions. Addictions are the result of addictive behaviors and creating a loop of habits that lead you to the addictions you are taking. A lot of this stems from childhood traumas that occur at a young age and this is something we also dove into heavily!! When I say this was one of the most interesting interviews I've ever done I'm not lying! You're playing this comparison game, and as a result, you don't even pay attention to your own grass because you're so concerned about your neighbors and you're looking left and right, and you just end up not being happy and a little bit bitter until you realize a couple things. When it comes to focusing on watering your garden and this idea, it has a lot of relevance to plenty of clients that I've had, and this concept goes across the board. It doesn't have to be just metaphorically speaking, watering garden. You know, how many of us have gone into the gym worrying about what others. Think about us in the gym. It's the same thing. We're going into the gym to work on ourselves. We are watering our own, quote unquote garden our body by putting in daily efforts in daily works. And when we go in to do this, instead of just focusing on doing the reps, doing what's necessary to water our garden, we're focused on the people to our left. We're focused on the people to our right, and we're comparing ourselves because we might have been really excited to lift 40 pounds for the first time today in the gym, and maybe we get that done and we feel pretty accomplished for a couple minutes until a kid who's, I don't know, two or three years younger than you, comes up and hands up, repping whatever you were just doing with seventies instead of forties. Instead of you being happy at the fact that you made progress and that you did the work and you've done everything you needed to do to water your garden at your own pace and be happy and content about the progress. Instead, we now compare our progress to somebody else who we may not even know.Use this podcast as a reminder that true progress comes when we focus on our own progress instead of comparing ourselves to others. Do the daily habits needed to reap the rewards of those efforts later down the line and you'll never regret those efforts or how great your lawn turns out because of these efforts!

How I've Built a Resilient Mindset

Over the last 9 years I've spent a considerable amount of time building a resilient mindset. This was a conscious decision made after going into college and having to face some unexpected hardships my ego wasn't prepared to face.Luckily this was also around the time I discovered Youtube and rabbit holes you can go down. I found a ton of videos around motivation which then turned into mindset talks, podcasts, psychology talks, exc. This is when I started the journey of building a resilient mindset. There were PLENTY of failures along the way but I'm making this podcast because after this year with my knee injury I have been reflecting back and appreciating how well I was able to handle the tough outcome I had to overcome with my knee injury. On top of this I would not be recording this podcast or owning my own coaching business if it wasn't for learning these concepts and methods to truly develop a resilient mindset.Out of all the best concepts out there I have distilled them down to the top 3 I believe are needed if you truly want to create a resilient mindset and share your gift with the world.BE->DO->HAVE-This formula was massive for me when it came to understanding how you actually create change.-Most people have it backwards, most people think it looks like this...HAVE->DO->BE.They think if they had a resilient mind they'd do more things that resilient people and and have a resilient mindset...WRONG!-In order to BE someone with a resilient mind you must first CHOOSE to BE someone who now DOES things resilient people do! And as a result over a long enough timeline you will HAVE a resilient mindset!Make a script-You need to create a set of beliefs and values that you memorize like a script so you can transmute these beliefs and values into your subconscious mind.-Much like a method actor rehearses until they fully embody their character you must do the same with your new Resilient Script!Surround yourself with Resilient People-If you do this, through natural selection either you will rise with the tides or you will get chewed up and spit out.-For most of us, finding a group with people who are only a couple steps ahead of you is the ideal group because it gives you a target to strive for while the group keeps you accountable to the standards you all want to uphold!I hope this podcast helps you build a resilient mindset so you can harness your gift and share it with whoever needs it!

This is a show on History Channel where Special Operations Officers places 30 men and women with no military background through the most intense challenge of their lives as veterans and combat instructors from the Navy SEALs, Green Berets, and Army Rangers drive them to the limits of the human body and mind. The civilians are tested to the limit and very quickly past their limit...The military personnel wanted to see what made someone stay and someone quit!Ross was put through this show right after his new girl interest was killed by an 18 wheeler and his mom got Colin cancer, not exactly the right head space you want to be in going into a show like this but Ross needed something to change in his life.On the this show Ross was given a gift, a lesson to bring home that has changed his life every since! And that lesson that the Veterans taught him was that life doesn't give a shit how you feel and your mind can go WAY further than you think when you are confronted with adversity! Most of us live in comfort and as a result has been soften when it comes to handling discomfort. Thus show taught Ross an invaluable lesson that he has kept with him to this day, It's all about forward movement!Shark Mentality!!!This is the motto Ross lives by now and it has guided him to be the type of coach he is today!I hope you enjoy the show!

In this episode I share how I healed my knee after my massive injury I had February 3rd, 2022 and how 6 months later August 15th, 2022 I got cleared from my orthopedic surgeon!I honestly can't believe this episode is even a reality. When I first sustained this injury and saw the first set of MRI images I wasn't the most optimistic about the situation. But here's the thing....When I got certified by ATG and Kneesovertoes guy Ben Patrick, I met coaches who had heard of people being able to regenerate their ligaments and avoid surgery. This was massive for me because it let me truly believe that "This is possible".Without that belief, I don't care how good your training program is or how good your recovery protocols are; if you don't believe you will heal then you won't heal.So first ingredient I had was belief.Second ingredient was the stem cells; some people don't believe in stem cells being able to work to heal things but again, I had people in my corner who knew someone who had done it so the conviction these stem cells would work was there. And lastly, the training I did was the best you could've possibly done.WAY BETTER THAN ANY PT CLINIC WOULD'VE DONE FOR YOU GOING THROUGH INSURANCE.After getting certified in ATG I knew I had a winning formula that would produce results because AGAIN....this program has shown to give results when it came to knee rehab and strengthening principles. So when I got the results that my ACL has full fibers across 6 months after that SAME doctor told me "your ACL is fully torn its clear as day" I guess I shouldn't have been surprised but the reality is that no one I know personally has ever heard of something like this after an injury like I had!I wanted to share this story to be that person in your life that showed you "it's possible!". With the right ingredients, knowledge, technology and belief you too can come back from a major setback in record time!!I will be making a program that shows exactly what I did in the last 6 moths to be where I'm at so if you are dealing with a knee injury yourself please DM and lets see if this program can help you too much like it helped me!I hope you enjoy the show!

We met through a mutual friend and we immediately had a connection as we talked about my mushroom experiences and how she's always wanted to try them. I knew if she was open and curious about psychedelics we would get along! Throughout our time in Austin during the event Alex had some of the most thoughtful questions to ask each guest speaker and I could tell she was as inquisitive as I am. But on the podcast as I got to know her a little more I found out the reason she had gotten into this type of work in the first place was because she struggled with an eating disorder in high school. This came as a big shock to me because meeting her for the first time in Austin TX I would've never thought she had struggled with something like that but being in this industry it isn't uncommon that the reason a coach became a coach is because they went through personal struggles, overcame them and now want to help other avoid the same struggles they went through themselves. In this episode we talk about all things fitness and nutrition, we dive heavily into self love, what self loves means, body image, how to admit you need help, what drives Alex to pursue hard things, and so much more! This last year has actually been one of the smoothest years I've had since graduating college even though I had a traumatic injury in the beginning of 2022! I knew this was no coincidence and decided to look back on the last 365 days and ask myself "why was this year different?" See if you've heard my story you know that typically the biggest struggles and challenges I've been working through since turning 23 have been mental and emotional challenges. Whether that be a break up with a girlfriend, my parents divorce, going to therapy, gym drama back when I worked at a CrossFit gym and I always seemed to have a dark period of the year but this year I felt like I never crossed into the darkness; even though I had good reason to go there. Before I go into what could've been the bad I reflected on the podcast about all the good changes I made this year and how they contributed to such a positive 365 days:-I moved into a place with an old friend and was closer to all my other friends and family-I started training friends and family in person and built a community-I got into the healthiest relationship I've ever been in-I continued to grow mentally and business wise-I didn't allow negative people in my ecosystemAll of these things made for a happy life this year where as in the past some of those positives were flipped and on the negative aspects of my life. What's cool to see is that this year I could've easily allowed something that happened to make this year a "bad" one, when I got injured on trail for a soccer team I could've easily let this injury ruin my year. The reason I believe I didn't let this injury hinder my year was because since the age of 23 I have been working on handling my emotions and my mindset through the struggles I had to go through. And I believe that those 4 years of struggle prepared me for the physical and mental battle I'm going through with my injury. That means that all those year were worth it! I share this message to encourage you to take some time and reflect on your last 365 days. What went well? What didn't go well? What surprised you this year?Did you make progress, stay the same, or go backwards? All these questions are useful for you to be able to connect the dots of why each event that happened in your life happened for a reason. But you can only connect the dots looking backwards, and once you can see what happened in your past you can set yourself up better for the future! I hope you enjoy the podcast!

Why You Need Crystal Clear Goals

In today's episode I'm breaking down a conversation I had with a potential client this last week. This potential client ended our conversation saying "lol nvm" after I asked her to get crystal clear on her goals. This potential client also told me the reason she's looking for a new coach is because her last one didn't push her and let her go through the motions, and here I am trying to push her and not go through the motions and she's running away...this is not uncommon! In fact, in my line of work I see people like this all the time. These people are your "yo-yo dieters" who hop from diet to diet or trainer to trainer because they still can't seem to be happy with the results their getting. In this episode I give my opinion on what the solution for this type of person is even if its not what they want to hear. I believe that these people are suffering from unclear goals and unrealistic expectations which is ultimately setting them up for failure. And what they don't realize is that if they hop from trainer to trainer or diet to diet and still don't get the results they want, what's the common denominator? You!Its the fact that you don't actually know what you want, or if you do know what you want but its completely unrealistic and now you've set yourself an unrealistic target you'll never hit so now you're going to be constantly unhappy because you'll never meet your goal.I believe these types of people need to take a step back, look int he mirror and ask themselves "Can I love myself where I'm at right now?" most of the time, the answer is no.And if the answer is "no" right now it'll still be no when you're 5-10 lighter because it has nothing to do with the weight or the level of toneness you achieve, its about how you feel about yourself when you're by yourself. The journey is a life long pursuit, stop thinking that you can short cut the journey by switching to the next fad diet or coach, get clear on your goals and be realistic about how long it's going to take! This is the recipe for success in my opinion and why I shared today's podcast!I hope you enjoy!

Today we are talking with Matthew aka "Keystologevity" a fellow ATG Coach who shares his journey from an unhealthy kid living in Miami being a massage therapist to a full time content creator and coach using The ATG Principles.Matt started out as we all did in the gym, just wanting to be the biggest baddest bodybuilder in the gym. In his first 3-4 years of training he didn't really see much progress and that was mainly due to the other 23 hours of the day he spent outside of his workouts. His habits were off, his food choices were poor, a regular sleep schedule wasn't even an idea at the time and as a result he had to go through an invasive surgery that removed his appendix from his stomach as he had an infected abscess after the appendix had been burst for who knows how long.Once he was able to fully recover he decided to make some serious lifestyle changes and habits and that included ATG Training Principles, getting rid of the weed, alcohol, and even having to let some friends go to make the changes he wanted. One of the most transformational trips he went on was when he went to Costa Rica in February. Being able to see how the people lived in Costa Rica and being so in touch with the world Matt decided to make some changes to live a more connected life to our world. You can now find Matt walking around Miami Beach, in GREAT Shape, sharing his knowledge with the people at muscle beach Miami, and creating content almost daily sharing what he's learned from ATG. He's been able to grow his IG page almost 33k in about 3-4 months and that doesn't happen unless you go ALL IN!If you want to learn more about Matt you can follow him on IG @keystolegivityMatthew has committed to being honest with himself ever since coming back from Costa Rica and is willing to WANT to hear the answers and do what is necessary to live his happiest life!Matt is a great man to hear and listen too! Today I sit down with Cali native, Benji-Stark Elster.Benji is a 21 year old soccer player who is currently recovering from an ACL injury he had last August.During Benji's soccer career he's had to overcome 3 major knee surgeries to be able to play the sport we both love and a common theme amongst all 3 injuries was that Benji used his time off the field when he was injured to better his life in any way possible.Benji isn't the type of guy who likes to waste time, he even said on today's show when he had his fist knee surgery that the next day he spent hours playing chess just to be able to keep training his mind! One thing Benji and I related on was being able to create new goals while dealing with injuries to keep your mind focused on progress vs stagnation.Benji's injuries were:-Meniscus tear on right knee-Right knee cyst that needed operating on-Left knee ACL TearThe beauty of Benji's and my injury is that we have the tools using ATG to be able to rebuild ourselves so that when we get back on the field we're stronger than we were before. For instance, the first time Benji got injured he used all that time to gain size and strength in his upper body while his lower body was recovering.During his second injury as Benji was coming back he only trained his left side to allow his right leg to heal while at the same time, training his off leg to improve. And lastly with his latest injury he's used this time to create another one of his many businesses which is Freak Athlete Equipment. If you are someone who follows ATG training and this podcast and you are looking to get some of the training tools we use to build our legs up such as:-Nordic Bench Mini-Slant Board-Slant Blocks-Tib Barsexc. You can check out his website and get your pre-orders in now!Link is below!https://freakathleteessentials.com/?sca_ref=2139240.eBia3Z6RDq

The results they've been having, what was causing some of them to drop off, how I built in more accountability and competitiveness which you can do too in order to avoid boredom and burnout! After I breakdown all the strategies used for consistency I started sharing some insights I've had while working with my injured clients and how the perspective of rehabilitation has to be much different than just muscle building or else you'll never make it the whole way without tons of frustration.Today's episode was a shorter one but next week we will have Benji Stark-Elster the creator of Freak Athlete Equipment and we're talking about all the new gear he's been building so be on the lookout!!Chris!

How My Knee Injury Was A Blessing In Disguise

In today's episode I explain the big realization I've had since my knee injury in February. One of my clients asked me "how has things been going since your knee injury?" and my answer may surprise most of you but it was "actually things have been going better!"How can that be?!? My whole goal this year was to make it on a team as field player and get ready for the big move to England in the attempt to make it on a 2nd/3rd division pro team. And on February 2nd at a tryout my ACL/LCL were completely torn as well as partial tears to my PLC complex and hamstring..So how can things be better??In short,Because of my injury I've been forced to put LESS on my plate; soccer training and game day activities have been put on hold. This has allowed me to focus on LESS things but put MORE EFFORT into those things. Before my injury it felt like I was trying to keep 6 plates spinning in my life:-Soccer-Training for Soccer-Training for Aesthetics-My Business-My Relationships-The PodcastAnd the reality was I couldn't sustain it and every once in awhile 1 or 2 of these plates would fall, crash and break all over the floor. Now with my injury I've been forced to put 2 of these plates down-Soccer and Training for Soccer. As a result I've found I'm much better at keeping 4 plates spinning and can keep them up because my FOCUS isn't spread thin. This realization has been something I wanted to share with all of you.The reason you may not be succeeding in the goals you've set out for yourself is because you're spread too thin! You're trying to do it all and the result is you're doing all of it at a low capacity and low success rate.I believe if you take your focus and put in on 3-4 BIG Things you will be much more successful and in this time you may be able to create systems that allow these plates to spin in the future with less and less effort and that will afford you the time and focus to pick up the plates to put down for a little bit and get back to them with the energy and focus needed to be successful at them without burnout and frustration.I hope this episode helps someone out there realize they have WAY too much on their plate like I did and that they don't need a major injury to intervene and have them slow down.Take the lesson I learned the hard way and apply it to your life so you don't have to go through what I am going through now!

Today I had the pleasure of having one of my newest mentors Ben Clarfield come on the show today!Ben and I met for the first time down in Clearwater FL for The ATG Expo about a month ago. Ben is one of three head coaches in The ATG Coaching System to have his Level 3 Certification. He helps Ben Patrick continue to develop The ATG Principles and is in charge of coaches the coaches underneath them which is where I come into play.Ben Clarfield is one of my mentors who has been teaching my The ATG Principles; the principles I have been putting into place to rehab my knee after my major knee injury I sustained at the beginning of the year.Ben Clarfield isn't your ordinary coach, he got his degree in philosophy and was on track to become a professor in a different world if it wasn't for his own knee injuries that happened at the time. Ben also tore ligaments in his knee, for him it was during basketball. And once he went down the rabbit hole of research in order to fix his knee, his educational interest changed slightly from philosophy to human movement, training, rehab, Chales Poliquin, exc. and his whole career path changed. Now after being in the fitness industry as a coach for more than a decade Ben C. has partnered up with Ben P. to and today we sit down and talk about his journey as a coach over the last 10 years. We go from topic to topic sporadically in this episode I'm not gonna lie haha but there's gems in here for people to learn from Ben!We get into philosophy, our knee injuries, genetic potential in athletes and how training can maximize your potential, how intent determines whether your training is rehab/performance/aesthetics, hardware vs. software and so much more!!I hope you enjoy! If you want to follow Ben his Instagram is @theatgcoach

Today we sit down and talk with Brendan Backstrom aka The ATG Sprinter!Brendan and I first met a couple weeks ago at the ATG Expo in Clearwater with Ben Patrick and all the other ATG coaches. Brendan and I connected at the event once I started telling him about knee injury that if you listen to the podcast know about. As he heard about my injury and how I plan on using ATG to build my knee back he couldn't help but relate with all his previous injuries and the journey he's already been on.We didn't get a chance at The ATG Expo to dive into that journey but we do now on today's episode. It's funny that Brendan coined the IG The ATG Sprinter because as you will learn on today's episode, Brendan claims to have been the absolute slowest sprinter at his high school when he was starting. In fact, if it wasn't for his amazing teammates who cheered him on and encouraged him to be better he would've quit a long time ago.As we learn though, effort alone didn't build the man you listen to today, it actually broke him at first.Brendan shares how he had numerous injuries in high school and college from running and soccer because he hadn't spent any time on building his body up to get better at his sports and a result the body started breaking down.First with severe patellar tendonitis that eventually had to be operated on, stress fractures on his shins, a sports hernia in college, as well as a herniated disc in his back all in the space of 5 years...This is enough injuries back to back to break anyones spirit from trying to build themselves back.Brendan talks about this time on the podcast and how important it was for him to watch the language he used, the people he hung around with, and the beliefs he allowed in his head to ensure he stayed optimistic and hopeful he would find a way to get back to the sports he loved pain free. And here comes ATG and Ben Patrick!Brendan found ATG in 2018-2019 and since finding it has gone completely all in with the program, following the principle, and as a result has completely healed all of his previous injuries! He's now stronger than ever, more flexible, more athletic, and more explosive! Now after learning everything he has, he is making a comeback in track and using the ATG Principles to get him there.Brendan's story is truly inspiring for anyone out there with multiple injuries who think they'll never make it back; because he did!Brendan is an example of grit, determination and strategic training to become the best version of himself and is now helping others do the same! You can find Brendan on Instagram @TheATGSprinterI hope you all enjoy the show!

We were able to connect on a lot of goals and passions when it comes to our work as Nutrition Coaches. Today we hear Dom's story about going from a College Athlete to behind a desk working a 9-5 job in the blink of an eye, I know a lot of athletes who go through the same thing. In a matter of a couple months after school Dom lost about 10lbs of muscle due to the fact his life went from highly active to relatively sedentary sitting at a desk all day. Dom lost his drive, he disconnected from his inner athlete and it was showing. Dom knew he needed a change so he started getting back in the gym and focusing on getting out of the house more by running. Dom found his passion again for working out and feeling like an athlete by being able to explore the vast options of exercise now that he wasn't doing required lifts for his team. He realized one way he can express his passion for exercise was to start making his own workouts and experimenting with all type of fitness to see what suited him best. He then took it one step further and got certified to become a personal trainer and a nutrition coach. He was part of some really cool projects like launches to Jupiter and Mars and that was incredibly fulfilling for Joe's ego but this job and this life wasn't who Joe wanted to be. He was living a life he felt like he was "supposed to live" instead of living the life he "wanted to live".After some time living out of alignment with his dreams and goals he found himself coming out of a blackout on the edge of a bridge about to end it all....Luckily for all of us he didn't go through it and rehabilitated himself with the help of his family. We then dive into how Joseph was able to go from almost ending his life to digging himself out of that depression and starting his own business and the successes and failures he had to go through to get his business to where it is and how he's created a business and life that is value based. We talk about our experiences with psilocybin and how it has helped us both focus on our inner voice that guides our values we hold closest versus trying to live your life based on what other people want you to do.And finally we talk about the products that Cured Nutrition offer, Joe was also kind enough to make a promo code for anyone listening to the show to try out some of their amazing products!Use code ALLDAY20 for 20% off any of their products!!If you would like to learn more about Joseph, his company and what they are bringing to the world you can follow him @josephsheehey and Cured Nutrition @curednutrition (They are shadow banned for going against main stream health so you may find their 2nd accounts unless you type in the full name).I had an amazing time talking with Joe today and look forward to continuing our new friendship, I hope you all enjoy the show as much as I did!
