On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about the idea of "hatching a plan" as we move into the New Year.I discuss why it's sometimes important to keep your plans kind of a secret… and how we only want to share those tender ideas with people who will nurture and support them, rather than criticize or crush them. When making new plans, I also suggest slowing down and inviting your Inner Teacher or intuition into the process, using practices like prayer, contemplation, and meditation to quiet your mind first. This helps the plan to be more aligned with our deeper purpose and values, rather than being driven by our ego, attachment to external outcomes, or our fears.I also share how writing down your goals and plans can be a powerful tool, as studies show that people who write down their goals are 42% more likely to achieve them! These handwritten goals not only serve as a "love letter to your future self" - a tangible record of your intentions, progress, and dreams…It's also a way to nurture what matters to you - and by doing so, bringing forth something new that can serve both you and the world around you!KEY POINTS:• Hatching Plans "In Secret"• Invite Divine Guidance• Discipline Leads to Freedom• Writing Goals Down Makes a Difference• Align Your Actions with Purpose• Celebrate Your Accomplishments• Serving Yourself and the World• The Nest - Group Mentoring Program BIO:Karen Kenney is a certified Spiritual Mentor, Writer, Integrative Change Worker, Coach and Hypnotist. Are you ready to unlock the wild wisdom of the animal kingdom? Let's journey through the mystical veil together, as we discover the power of spirit animals and their profound messages. This episode is a spiritual deep dive, an exploration into the symbolic tapestry of nature's wisest creatures, from the powerful bear to the vibrant pheasant. We will discuss the various aspects of our inner beings, such as animal guides who are powerful allies to self-awareness.In the heart of this adventure, you will be guided through a soothing meditation, helping to awaken your intuition and manifest your dreams through the ancient language of Sanskrit mantras. As we strengthen our bond with our own spirit animal, the doors to messages, healing and transformative power will be unlocked. We will also delve into the art of interpreting these messages through shamanic practices. I will further share resources like 'Animal Speak' by Ted Andrews, to help you deepen your understanding of your spirit animal. So, let's embark on this journey together, embracing the wild wisdom of our spirit animals. An inner animal guide or spirit animal can help you in your life, and give you qualities you desire to manifest. An Inner Guide can be a source of inspiration, intuitive and heightened awareness. These inner guides can be discovered deep in one's subconscious. There are different types of Inner Guides such as: the Higher Self, Inner Healer, Inner Teacher, Inner Alchemist, Inner Warrior, Animal Guides as well as Past Life Personalities. In this episode we will connect to an Animal Guide to offer messages and healing. This episode was inspired by A Bear. In my Eastern Massachusetts seaside community and locally in other towns around there has been many sightings of a Bear or Bears. Bears are not native to this area, only further west in Western Massachusetts or North in Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. The Bear visitations have created quite a stir in our local communities. I asked a colleague who is very connected to indigenous and native elders to find out what the significance is of a bears being in places that aren't their natural habitat. He told me the bear medicine shows change and transformation coming to those areas in which it is appearing. I did some research and discovered more about bear medicine. We share our world with animals. They can be our teachers about the lessons we are currently learning in life. There are many interpretations of the symbolism of different animals we can find on the internet as well as in animal Medicine Cards, such as the deck by Jamie Sams or Messages from Your Animal Spirit Guides Oracle Cards: Cards by Stephen Farmer, or the Druid Animal Oracle deck The Druid Animal Oracle Deck by Philip Carr-Gomm , and Stephanie Carr-Gomm.Animals can give us messages, when we spot them in our day to day life. It is especially important to note when an animal that is not native to an area shows up in your life, as did the bear down my street. According to certain Shamanic practices, an animal needs to successively show up in your life 3 times or 3 of the same animal at once to be considered a messenger animal. I often see three crows or ravens (when I'm out west) at a time. The Crow or Raven symbolizes the Planet Saturn known as Shani in Vedic Astrology. So I always say “Hi Shani,” what you got for me today? Usually something karmic is being burned off! So keep your eyes open for what Animal messenger is showing up in your life successively and then go google the meaning, or get some animal cards to interpret the lesson for you.www.jilljardineastrology.comSupport the show
Here's the thing… Life can be hard sometimes. Now don't get me wrong, life can also be wonderful and full of all magic and miracles and all kinds of incredible things like babies laughing, puppies frolicking, or getting to be on the beach. Yes, there's a lot to show gratitude for… and let's just be real, life can just sometimes be a straight up totally brutal, knock you on your ass kind of journey. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we're talking about how life can be difficult… and even those hard moments are not something we want to skip over. The suffering and the grief comes with the territory and is part of the journey of the human experience. It's in those rough patches that we might want to cut ourselves some slack — give ourselves the room and space to grieve, get upset and move through the range of emotions that may come up so that we can heal. What we don't need when we're working stuff through or out is our own contempt or critiquing. Instead, we need to provide some breathing room, and a little bit of compassionate space for us to simply catch our breath and calm our nervous systems, so we can approach things with calm and curiosity instead of judgment. From my heart to yours, please be more gentle with yourself - extend some grace and tenderness to yourself because as we all know the world could use more of that.KK's Takeaways:Watch Your Mind & Mouth (2:35)Cut Yourself Some Slack (8:39)Slow Down Enough To Notice (13:30)Devil's Advocate vs Inner Teacher (17:45)Karen Kenney is known for her dynamic storytelling, sense of humor, and her no BS approach to Spirituality. A talk by Thanissaro Bhikkhu entitled "Your Inner Teacher"
There is a current of thinking among many spiritual individuals who posit that if the world is illusion, why bother with it? Ignore it. I recognize first and foremost that this is my projection, an idea within me that I'm seeing playing out before me, and so bring it to the Inner Teacher to have it corrected. It is from here that this short reflection emerged. I hope it serves you as much as it is serving me. Blessings, Mony

What is prayer really? Is it asking for things we need or is it diving into complete Trust with our Inner Teacher? Is it begging for things we don't have or is it recognizing what we already have it? We grew up with a limited and fear-based concept of prayer, but when we picked it up again by choice later on we have realized it's one of the most powerful things we can do in this life! Enjoy this one
Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we're talking about the concept of “telling it like it is”. I got to thinking about this because people often say that one of the reasons they like to work with me is that they view me as someone who “Tells It Like It Is”. While I understand what they mean, I think the more accurate description is that, “I tell it like I am.” It would behoove us all to remember that we don't actually see everything how IT really is - but more so, we see it as WE are. That means our perceptions and interpretations are shaped not only by our brain, but also by our thoughts, our feelings, our previous experiences, our identity and our past history. This is why A Course in Miracles says, “Projection Makes Perception”. And if how we “see” the world is affected by our brains and our minds, then it's wicked important which lens we're looking through and which teacher we're choosing to look at it with: Spirit/Love or Ego/Fear. When we look at the world via Ego/Fear, we must recognize that we may be choosing to see ourselves, another person, or our circumstance through an extremely limited point of view or distorted lens. It's through a DSP (Daily Spiritual Practice) that we're able to get in touch with the expansive part of our mind that is always in communion with the Divine. The part of our mind that repeatedly returns to the memory of Love/Source and has access to our Inner Teacher, Infinite Intelligence, and dwells in the space where limitless possibility lives. When we work on transforming who we are from the inside out, we shift the teacher we choose, the lens we use, and the way we see. Over time we learn to look for and “Teach Only Love”, for that is who we really are. KK's Takeaways: • I Was On TV (3:08) • Tell It Like It Is (8:26) • Looking At Outside Authority (14:08) • Projection Makes Perception (20:40) • Unique Perspective (26:29) • Eyes The Portal To The Brain (31:19) • This Is So Powerful (36:41) Karen Kenney is a Certified Spiritual Mentor, Certified Hypnotist, writer, author, speaker, and the host of The Karen Kenney Show Podcast. In today's episode, my guest in conversation and my partner in crime is Mary Schuch. As two survivors of religious trauma who are still #1 Fan of Spirit (TM), we explored Hierophant themes: cultish behaviors, why we engage in them, and how developing an awareness of power dynamics can lead us to new ways of being in teacher-student relationships. We also discussed Mary's relationship to her inner teacher and how it's shifted through being in voluntary learning spaces and committing to her own personal practices. Our conversation was fun, funny, wild, irreverent, and completely non-linear. Listening back, it feels brave to me - questions and ponderings were required and answers were optional. We spoke in metaphors and along the way, there were tons of laughters, detours, thinking on our feet, and, of course, cursing. Here's Mary's bio:Mary describes herself as someone who is committed to showing up for the experience of belonging in a human body.Informed by her upbringing as a homeschooled pastor's kid and the eighth of eleven siblings, Mary is reclaiming her right to exploration and education. She values meditative multidisciplinary living through her practices of writing, music, art, movement, breadmaking, astrology, and being outdoors. Through these avenues, Mary is joyfully emerging as an intuitive and comedic mystic.Mary has spent most of the last decade deep in thought in gardens, on a lobster boat, and more recently, an oyster farm. Each month according to the Sefer Yetzirah has a chush, a sense associated with it. The sense of the month of Tevet is "anger." Of all the twelve "senses" this is the hardest to understand as in almost all cases anger is a very negative trait. Rachel Trugman gave a fascinating class in Denver about Anger Management, based on Rabbi Pliskin's book Anger - the Inner Teacher. Listen here to get a deeper appreciation of the "sense" of anger.

There are times in our lives when we have to make both big and little decisions. Sometimes when faced with these choices, we find ourselves feeling unsure of our direction because of a communication misunderstanding or a lack of detailed information. Other times though, we find ourselves choosing to remain in a state of confusion, allowing our minds to get muddled, all in an effort to avoid what it is that we know we must do or what our Inner Teacher is guiding us to do. It's not that we don't know what the right thing or best choice is, we're just afraid to do it. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we're taking a closer look at how we sometimes choose a state of confusion over making a decision or taking action. We get curious about why we choose to live out the stories we write about ourselves (and others) based on our fear of rejection, abandonment and judgement. The reality is there's no guarantee that things will always work out. Sometimes we just have to make the best decision we can with what we have and be willing to learn from our failures, extend compassion and forgiveness where warranted and keep moving forward. If you find yourself “choosing to be confused”, just know that there are ways out of it and the clarity starts within you. In this video we discuss finding the inner teacher and living a spirit led life. The path to god and self-realization is long and winding. We begin that path in darkness. Lost in maya, not knowing up from down, backwards from forwards, darkness from light. Over time through the lessons of pleasure and pain we start to discern up, forwards, and light. At that point we are able to start moving out of darkness and upward towards the light of ever greater self-realization.Sometimes along the way we are fortunate enough to meet teachers who help expedite our journey. Many teach us what not to be by their negative example, some educate our mind with valuable knowledge, and a few rare beings help liberate our soul.A teacher who imparts liberation has been liberated. They have themselves learned to let the small self-step aside and surrender to god’s will manifesting through them. However, one should never get so caught up in revering a teacher that they forget to revere the god within them. Moreover, one should avoid the idolatry of mistaking a teacher, dogma, organization or method for god.Use methods and learn from teachers in order to realize god within you. A time will come when your ego is tamed and your connection to god firm. When that time comes god will be your guru, and you will need no other.Once the third eye and crown chakras are sufficiently activated you can live your life in constant god communion. God’s will need never be guessed at again. It will always be known, and it will be your choice to either consent or resist. Sometimes our identity as a student can become the enemy of our mastery. When the teacher is put on too much of a pedestal the faithful student can sometimes subconsciously retard their own spiritual growth out of fear of eclipsing the revered teacher. The unperfected teacher may even withhold information and techniques from the student in order to keep the student from ever surpassing them.A realized teacher on the other hand will share all that you can handle and pray you surpass them. Because on the path of mastery only god can be our guru. God is the teacher that we will never surpass but may always strive to become. When we become disciples of god, we let go of all other allegiances.Let neither class, creed, race nor attachment to dogma, organization or teacher stand in your way of living a spirit led life. Strive ceaselessly to know god’s will and establish an unshakeable connection to your higher self, which is but another name for god. Then simply surrender to the path spirit is leading you upon.

In Chapter 13 of A Course in Miracles it says: “You have but two emotions, love and fear… and one you made (Fear/the ego) and one was given you (Love/God).” Love or fear are the only two emotions that we as people fall under. Anything that doesn't fall into the category of Love, automatically lands itself under the guise of fear. Fear can show up as so many things like; shame, blame, jealousy, rage, judgment, and feeling unworthy. There are many different masks that fear wears in reaction to our state of mind. When we're in this reactionary state of fear (and also trauma) we trigger what is known as: The 4 F's: Fight, Flight, Freeze or Fawn. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we're talking about how a story I heard from author and researcher Brene' Brown, inspired this episode of becoming more aware of our fear state so that we can stop ourselves from shrinking down or puffing up out of fear and instead make a conscious choice for Love to “stand on the sacred ground” that God you. One where we can learn to internally diffuse a situation and keep ourselves from reacting in an unkind way that only makes the situation worse. It's kind of a natural animal instinct to make ourselves big or small when we feel threatened or attacked. So it's our job to train our mind to slow down and pause so we can choose how we want to proceed. Are we going to come out swinging or put our dukes up out of fear? Or are we going to listen to our Inner Teacher of spirit and choose love? We can build the muscles that help us to attune and align ourselves to the emotion that was given to us: Love. With the world being how it is in this moment, now is not the time to stick our heads in the sand. If you are here on the planet right now, I believe it's for a reason and a greater purpose. Sometimes, we need to turn to our Spiritual Team to help figure out what that is. When we find ourselves in situations where we feel overwhelmed, defeated, scared, anxious or worried it's helpful to remember the words of Clarissa Pinkola Estés; “We Were Made For These Times”. I believe that our lives have been preparing us for this moment. Sometimes, if you feel not up to the task, we can call upon the strength of the Divine, our Inner Teacher and our Spiritual Team to help us to “act well and wisely”. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we're talking about knowing and stepping into our purpose. What are we adding to the world around us? What is it that we are bringing to the table? One of the things about being a Spiritual Mentor and a writer is that I tend to pay close attention to what's going on around me. I also do my best to watch my own mind (the stories it likes to tell and the meaning that it assigns to everything) like a feckin' hawk! Ha! In today's world, we have to be extra vigilant about what we're consuming - seeing, hearing, reading, thinking and believing - because truth is, we're being fed a constant barrage from all sides about what's “true”. From the time we're kids, to when we finally go out on our own - we're being conditioned by the thought systems of our parents, caretakers, teachers, community, church, and beyond! As adults, it's our job to sift through everything and decide for ourselves where the truth actually lays for each of us. What we're going to keep, toss and call bullshit on. This is a learned skill of discernment that comes from spending time with our Inner Teacher and our Spiritual Team on the regular. Independent and critical thinking has always been wicked important and now more than ever we have to be willing to think for ourselves, even if it means other people you love won't like it. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we're talking about listening to our gut instincts, trusting Divine Intelligence and finding the truth for ourselves in this world where we have access to everyone else's opinions, agendas and version of the events. Something that I often say to my Spiritual Mentoring clients and my friends is, “The Assignment is Alignment.” HA! In order to be aligned with the who, what & where we're supposed to be in life, we need to stop listening to the voice of the ego (aka: the voice of fear). Instead, we need to start listening for the voice of Love - that is our Spiritual Team. Today on the Karen Kenney Show, we take a closer look at what it means to listen to our Inner Teacher and receive our assignment that's trying to be made known to each of us. If we don't slow down, get still and quiet enough to listen to our Spiritual Team, we can't possibly begin to align ourselves with our true path and destination. I want you to go into 2020 with a wicked clear picture of where you're supposed to go, what you're supposed to be doing and what you're supposed to be saying and to whom. My greatest wish is that I want you to be able to do that without the fear, anxiety, worry or depression that comes from trying to rely on your own (human) strength vs. the strength of the Divine within you. Wouldn't it be nice to just be inspired by Love to move through the world with great confidence, compassion and creativity instead? You can begin to transform Your Story to Your Glory with the help of your Inner Teacher and your entire Spiritual Team. Today on the Karen Kenney Show, we're talking about one of those difficult realizations that we often have after we experience the loss of something or someone of great importance to us and what can happen as a result. I've gone through it myself when I was younger and have seen + heard it from enough people over the years - friends and clients who are navigating a death, divorce or destruction of the familiar. You know, those kinds of situations where you might feel wicked sad to lose the people or pets you love, or you're being forced to face uncomfortable changes in close relationships and accept that your ideas and ideals don't always work out. This resistance and sometimes shock that even though something huge in our life has happened - the world seems to have not gotten the ole' memo. HA! That despite our personal losses, whatever or however significant they may be, Life Goes On. The key lesson for us is to not take it personally, to not take it to heart and get upset with the world around us because it continues to move on, even though we're crushingly sad and temporarily unable to keep up. Understand that it's okay to hit the pause button and step off the treadmill for a little bit. You can take the time you need to grieve that loss, get some support, help or mentoring, and do the work of self-care and self-awareness. There's a natural process that we have to go through - but in the end, we must be willing to surrender the suffering to our Inner Teacher and Spiritual Team and open our hearts and minds to healing - so that gradually, but inevitably - you can begin to transform “Your Story to Your Glory” and step back into the Fearless Flow of your life. Life doesn't always have us travelling in a perfectly straight line. We sometimes change our mind or decide to try something different and don't always know where the heck we're going to end up. Good news is, it's totally cool to think you know where you're meant to go but then still change your mind or direction if and when the time comes for you to pivot. In my own life, I've taken what I call the “Zig-Zag” path. Ha! This pivot or choosing to climb out of that box or space that people have tried placing us in - can sometimes make others wicked uncomfy. Which is why on today's episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I'm inviting you to trust yourself, your Inner Teacher & your Spiritual Team by listening to & following the guidance they give you about when it's time to make a course correction. I'm also (in a super silly + joking way) “giving you the ole' pink permission slip” you think you need to make your pivots with confidence. In this solo episode I’m feeling called to talk about connecting to our own inner teacher, that inner wisdom that lives in our soul. It’s like a GPS that gently waits for us to connect, to answer the call and to trust it. The more we honor it the stronger it gets. This starts with making the time and space, connecting to you soul, to your essence, start listening and trusting. Knowing that the soul will never lead you astray. In this world of megatrends, successful organizations understand that coaching, guiding, and teaching no longer belongs solely to the L&D teams. Leaders need to take up the mantle of learning if they wish to build efficient workforce. But the primary question still remains, How do we engage these ‘busy’ leaders and transform them into tutors? Listen to key ideas from the Head Human resources at Axis bank, Rajkamal Vempati as she talks to Belong’s Evangelist, Aadil Bandukwala about this specific issue and how to tackle it.

Choosing Peace - 8/15/17In this episode, Rev. Deb, Rev. Gayle, and Mari refer to the events in Charlottesville and how we need to ask 'When am I ready to choose peace?" We must teach, i.e. DEMONSTRATE peace so we can learn it. We need to move out of talking about peace, posting to social media about peace, ruminating about peace and into the active choosing within our minds with the Holy Spirit. We are so used to seeking peace out in the world. The ego wants us to resolve the problem in the world. Instead, let us refer to our Inner Teacher and He will guide us in what we must do next. Peace is the way, ALWAYS. HOw much do you desire peace? Do not merely say the words but mean that you do want the peace of God. Now, are you ready to choose peace? Recorded August 15, 2017Your donations help to make this broadcast possible. Thank you!Website - www.miraclesone.org

Show Notes How to connect, honor and trust your inner teacher: Through the physicality of the breath and body: Notice the sensations that arise in the body and listen to their guidance Let the breath lead, and the movement to follow in both your yoga and art-making Tune in to the sensations, emotions, images, that arise. Ask them what form they need to take on and then take that to the journal page. In this way, you give witness to the stuff that comes up. Pay attention to what you are enthusiastic about. Enthusiasm is a sign from your inner teacher that you are on the right track. Resources mentioned in this show: Wisdom of the Heart by Alan Cohen Yoga and the Quest for the True Self by Stephen Cope Want to access your inner teacher now? Here are three ways to do it: 1) Bring your awareness to the physical sensations of the body and notice what signals it's giving you. Then based on that guidance, ask yourself, "what do I need today" and then go do it! 2) Take one small step towards a goal that you enthusiastic about. 3) Do this journal prompt: With your eyes closed, spend a few minutes engaging with the breath. Then bring to mind a question or challenge you've been dealing with in your life. Again, breathe and sit with the question or challenge. Notice any feelings, sensations, images, colors, etc. that arise. After a few moments, take these inklings to your journal. Ask whatever came up what form it needs to take. Listen to that guidance and allow it to transpire on the page. Give witness to what you are feeling Music in Podcast: Intro music: Udu Groove by Neil Middleton End music: Intuition by LoneLady
