Cari Heibel-Briner, Holistic Business Coach and President at Freedom Coaching, started in the real estate industry in 2001. She has been an entrepreneur since age 22 and was a top producing real estate agent in Minnesota for 10 years. As the CEO of a Brokerage the following 5 years, Cari grew it to the number one real estate office in the state of MN in closed transactions. The agent count went from 80 to over 300 agents and there were over 40 real estate teams running their businesses under Cari's leadership. This combined experience along with her leadership tenure as the previous Director of Expansion for Hergenrother Realty Group has resulted in Cari successfully recruiting over 800 people to the real estate industry and helping to build over 70 real estate teams nationally since 2012. As part of the Hergenrother Realty Group leadership team, she helped expand the team to its current 30 locations across the country with over 220 agents doing over $444M in sales volume annually. Her leadership, training and coaching drove the team's success in addition to her unparalleled recruiting results. In the past 14 months, Cari and the team of Holistic Business Coaches at Freedom Coaching have helped over 350 clients nationally to build bigger and better businesses while improving their lives.   Cari is fiercely committed to her own personal growth and uses all of her challenges and experiences to inspire others to transform their lives. Erin generates 85% of her leads with her Instagram platform, and that number continues to grow year-after-year! You don’t have to reinvent the wheel to build your book of business—as a matter of fact, you shouldn’t. The fundamental methods of lead gen are tried and true. Okay, get this… did you know that people who have a clear vision of what they want their lives to look like in the future and feel connected to that vision ultimately have more fulfilling lives? Yup. Research shows that they save more, make better long-term decisions, and make overall better choices when it comes to living happier and healthier lives.*    This explains something that I’ve understood experientially for years since I started using a mindset tool called the Future Self. I describe what it is and how to use it in a previous episode, and this week, I wanted to bring some other leaders onto the podcast to share their experiences with using this tool because people are having serious life-changing success with it. Sure, you can take my word for it that this thing works (and it does!), but the power of it becomes crystal clear when you hear from other high achievers who are using it.   Today, you’ll hear from five leaders within our organization who are using the Future Self – Erin Torres (COO of Hergenrother Realty Group), Michael Mergell (Director of Growth at Hergenrother Realty Group), Cari Heibel-Briner (President of Coaching at Adam Hergenrother Training), Hallie Warner (Chief of Staff at Adam Hergenrother Companies), and Caitlin Frauton (Director of Marketing at Adam Hergenrother Companies).    Give a listen and let me know what you think. I dare you to not want to implement the Future Self in your own life after this one – it’s pretty much impossible after you’ve heard these 5 stories. And by the way, we provide the Future Self for free on our website and email it to you daily, so it couldn’t be simpler to start using.     Lastly, we’re making a BIG announcement that we can’t wait to share with you!     * If you’re interested in the emerging research that supports the importance of creating a Future Self, you can check out this Facebook Livestream (https://www.facebook.com/cari.heibel/videos/10219673661366377/?__tn__=C-R&eid=ARBPu6dddwt0YxR2ujnixnHmfwgZeIgbzN48C7NHXFVQol6V8GVrs4E8cmZd15jfmto7iMYMQxguFEJE&hc_ref=ARRvVK1e9vIwBri1PHTC3VRwT3hLRvQ5gJ_U7fWdkobfNrTAtjv6Kl4TjjdN1SJlEEY&fref=nf&__xts__[0]=68.ARAuUaRpimEpxbMq5B3DWnER7OCugPI4rhfmnRuH4Y3caOGCdTDlDxLQlMm8z356zvZWdT01RSiuCmSRTck6tz1fyn68CaLuMTZKKYdUm3XxpbSRkR0dmU8QIM7o6VRV0GaTgaRr9XJBSnAJVRlKFT5jlNgmkqGi-xN3p-6A7V8gNNuiOapmFmGis8n5HFuZTqW_Btw2DFEf_Sk-nU4En-7R3m_w0VZ1TIrvUe9-wzncG90WlB0GrJR7VHYXiI7P3coPQHDaLV7tYYBkT56sawPsrKCZYtBmRfpOCVKV90ff9evUQmGkTTgIz4SxZ8yx5LleoQdGHF2BZb_X_pDv) that Cari Heibel-Briner did with psychologist and best-selling author Dr. Benjamin Hardy, who wrote the books Why Willpower Doesn’t Work & Personality Isn’t Permanent. How to Conquer Fear: What You Will Learn: How Adam struggled with weight problems, self-esteem issues, and drug use in high school and learned how to conquer fear How early entrepreneurial efforts led to Adam getting his career rolling by buying his first piece of real estate How Adam learned key lessons about business leadership, success, and embracing new experiences Why learning how to conquer fear led Adam to create his “business meets spirituality” philosophy Why fear becomes a motivator to act, and why controlling your fear helps you take the right action for the outcome you want Why centering yourself helps you accept all experiences, good or bad, as growth opportunities Why your perception and mindset shape how you feel about and react to new experiences How taking control of your mind instead of letting it control you helps you develop discipline How to Conquer Fear and Achieve Success Adam Hergenrother is a multifaceted real estate expert, serial entrepreneur, author, speaker, business coach and host of the Business Meets Spirituality podcast. Early struggles taught Adam the importance of developing the right mindset and welcoming new experiences, even the scary ones. Adam learned how to conquer fear, achieve clarity and purpose, and let his passion and joy lead him to success rather than pursuing financial and career success as its own goal. Adam sees himself as a spiritual being having a temporary physical experience, and this philosophy has become the guiding principle that Adam follows in all aspects of his life! Why Do We Fear? As Adam explained during our conversation, “need” is the root of fear. If we didn’t need anything, we wouldn’t fear anything either! Adam believes the secret to learning how to conquer fear is to take control of your mind and recognize the lens through which you are filtering your experiences. Instead of seeing new experiences as “good” or “bad,” Adam believes that all experiences have something valuable to teach us. It’s natural to worry about losing the success we’ve worked so hard for, but that can quickly lead to a “never enough” mentality, where we are always pursuing the next level of achievement. If we instead focus on doing the things we love and feel passionately about, financial success stops being the goal and becomes a natural side effect of pursuing happiness. Fear itself isn’t inherently bad, and in fact it can be a powerful motivator to push us to act! The important thing is to control our fears and decide on the best action to take, rather than giving into fear and letting impulse guide us. Embracing Experiences During our conversation, Adam offered a powerful quote: “Understand, this is hard. This inward journey is harder than making money, it’s harder than any relationship, it’s harder than anything you’ll ever do. But ultimately the reason why you’re here is to evolve your soul. Every experience that you get the opportunity to experience, by definition, was an experience you needed to have.” All of our experiences, both the good and the bad, are valuable! They all have something to teach us that can enrich our lives and help us grow. By being open to what’s happening in the moment, Adam says all the other aspects of your life will fall into place naturally. By not fearing the challenging times, you become more open to the lessons they have to share, and you’re more fully prepared to enjoy the good times. I thought of bringing Adam Hergenrother to Immuno-Palooza, not because he is a physician or a health care provider, more so that he's an ultra-successful person that is purpose-driven and gets things done in his health and life and inspires others to do the same. He takes care of his billion-dollar body like his billion-dollar business empire! Here's a little about Adam (from his website): My story starts when I was a teenager. I was hanging out with the wrong crowd, dabbling in drugs, smoking cigarettes heavily, and using food as a way to escape from life. I was more than 100 pounds overweight, failing classes, and driving a piece-of-crap car. In short, my self-worth was nonexistent. One day my dad found me like that in my room and said, “You have two choices. You can accept where you are or you can change.” That was the day I told myself  “Screw it. No more.” And I decided to change. One year later I was a hundred pounds lighter — physically, mentally, and emotionally. I had shed everything that wasn’t serving me, and I was no longer letting other people dictate who I should be. It was only a couple of years later when I got my first taste of business. I flipped a car with a friend and doubled my initial $500 investment. That was such a powerful lesson for me that within six months I made another $40,000 using the same strategy. I was hooked on business, so right out of college I got a great job. It wasn’t long, however, before I realized my relentless drive to create the biggest life possible would not happen if I was employed by someone else. Real estate piqued my interest when I took that $40,000 from car flipping and invested it in a condo. I had to sell unexpectedly, and it was just enough of a taste of real estate to realize that it was a good match for my relentless drive.  So in 2006, my then-girlfriend, and now beautiful wife, Sarah Ostiguy Hergenrother, and I started the Hergenrother-Ostiguy Group. Our slogan was, “Hard to pronounce, but easy to work with!” Those days were awesome. We borrowed $8,000 to start our business and in the first 30 days spent half of it going to an industry conference. It was the first time I learned that investing in yourself and your own education would provide the biggest return. I then met Gary Keller at a private event in Austin.  After about five minutes of listening to him speak, I was sold. I immediately came back to Vermont and opened a Keller Williams Realty market center. It would prove to be much more challenging than I thought, but I had chosen to step off the sidelines, and into the arena, and it was time to fight for the vision I had.   Fast forward and here we are 10 years later. I have built Keller Williams Vermont to one of the top real estate teams in the state, Hergenrother Realty Group the #4 real estate team in the nation, BlackRock Construction is a dominate force in the development space, and Adam Hergenrother Companies is a $1 billion organization by where personal growth and work-life integration come first. Now, I spend my time leading these organizations, writing books, creating podcasts, speaking, and training, so I can teach others how to use business as a conduit for their personal growth. I thrive on taking on physical challenges including Ironman races, Bikram yoga, hiking, white-water rafting, skiing, and more. I fuel my mind and spirit with forty minutes a day of meditation and spend as much time as possible outdoors with my family and friends. All of this is simple, but not easy. Life is hard. Business building is hard. There are daily struggles to overcome. I believe it’s about finding the gift in all of life’s experiences and understanding that through discovering who you are – a spiritual being having a temporary physical experience – that you have the power to unleash joy in everything you do. Adam Hergenrother, My story starts when I was a teenager. In order for an organization to scale and expand to multiple locations successfully, the right right people and systems must be in place. As leaders with an ambition to expand, what are the principles we need to build into our habits and systems to make it happen? Why is clarity such an important thing if you want to succeed? How do we move from a “people business” to a systems business? On this episode, I’m joined by entrepreneur, author, and speaker, Adam Hergenrother to discuss the keys to growth and expansion in real estate.     If you’re extremely purposeful with your time, you can accomplish a lot in a short period. -Adam Hergenrother   Three Things We Learned From This Episode How to focus on what matters as a leader As leaders, we can lose focus with so many things things coming at us. We can solve this by learning to say yes to the right things and cutting off anything else. When we know what really matters to us, it makes it a lot easier for ourselves to be purposeful with our time and make the right decisions.   Why clarity makes us faster and more effective Visionaries are so clear in their head, but we often don’t do enough to articulate it and tell the people around us. Clarity is important because it doesn’t just create power. It also gives us the ability to move faster, quicker and more reliably.     Why leads matter more than anything else The basis of any real estate company is leads. When we hire people, they’re usually looking for leads— and that’s where our coaching should start. When they reach a ceiling in production, that’s when they turn to us for guidance on growing as a person, salesperson and leader.   Guest Bio Adam Hergenrother is an entrepreneur, speaker, author and founder and CEO of Adam Hergenrother Companies. In less than ten years, Adam has built these rapidly growing companies into a $700 million organization through his commitment to thinking big and never giving up. Adam Hergenrother is a widely respected speaker and business coach, as well as the founder and CEO of Hergenrother Realty Group and co-owner and CEO of BlackRock Construction, both companies he turned into thriving enterprises within just 10 years. Adam is an expert in helping business leaders chart a path to success. Success for Adam means more than just wealth, it means going beyond mediocrity in all aspects of his life. At the age of 15, Adam decided that he didn’t want to live a life of mediocrity. He turned his life around and made the conscious decision to excel. Adam made half a million dollars at age 26, but he decided the corporate grind wasn’t for him, so he changed his lifestyle yet again. Adam is a living example of the transformative power of dedication, passion and drive, and his strong focus on his family life serves as the cornerstone for everything he does. Through daily activities like meditation, exercise and journaling, Adam works to maintain a healthy lifestyle and a clear mind. These important rituals help him build momentum and maintain the energy he needs to tackle every challenge… with the goal of exceeding his own high expectations. ————— Are you satisfied with the status quo, or do you hunger for more? More success in your career, more quality time with your family, more balance in your life, a more healthy lifestyle, and more energy and focus? In short, are you satisfied with mediocrity or do you want to break out and excel in every aspect of your life? Adam Hergenrother learned very early on that he wasn’t meant for a mediocre life. At fifteen, Adam was struggling with poor grades, was taking recreational drugs, and was hanging out with the wrong kinds of friends. But Adam realized the path he was on would lead to a life he didn’t want, and so he hit the reset button. He got rid of the bad influences, straightened out his grades, dumped the drugs, and turned to athletics as an outlet (dropping over a hundred pounds in the process). This dedication to personal excellence is the same energy and focus Adam brings to his real estate business. Adam realized he wanted more from his life, and he took the steps needed to achieve his goals. He practices daily rituals like meditation and journaling, so that by the time he starts his workday at 8 a.m., he is energized and ready to conquer. In this episode, Adam shares his personal journey out of mediocrity, as well as key tips, strategies and philosophies that can help other business leaders rise to their potential. Technology is about to create a big shift in the buying and selling process. Will we be replaced by tech? What qualities are desirable in agents during times like this? How can we survive the shift and leverage the tools we now have access to? What will happen to the single agent? In this episode, Adam Hergenrother shares his predictions about the future of the real estate agent. Every real estate company needs to wake up to virtual brokerages, because those are the ones giving freedom to agents. -Adam Hergenrother Three Things We Learned   The entry barrier will be higher but the agents who make it will earn more money The companies that afford the technology to speed up the process while delivering a superior customer experience will make it harder for agents who have only a few sales per year to survive by themselves. As a result, the entry barrier will be higher. In order to survive, agents will need to join teams where they have access to all the technology and training that they can't get with their own money. A side effect of this shift is the fact that agents will be expected to increase their sales after receiving all the support and training needed.   Agents won't be locked geographically anymore With the rise of virtual brokerages, we can now live anywhere in the world as long as we have access to high-speed internet and a showing agent working for us. The only obstacle that stands in the way of this becoming the norm is the price of airplane tickets.   Virtual brokerages will also have a meeting space Working from home has its own struggles. Loneliness and isolation is a real phenomena among remote workers. Plus the agent ends up feeling disconnected from the company and its team. To counter this, many virtual brokerages are now considering investing in meeting places for their co-workers.   The new shift in real estate caused by technological advancements will enhance both the consumer experience and that of the agent. The companies that have the budget to invest in the newest technologies will be the ones who have the leverage. The agents who want to benefit from this shift will have to join a team that gives them all the resources to make the sale (e.g., assistants, coaching and technology). The agents who now look at real estate as a side hustle will probably disappear, but those who want to make a career out if and have the capacity to adapt will actually benefit from the shift. https://youtu.be/elKu8H8x1SY Biggest Takeaways: If you missed our Facebook live event on November 16th, below is the conversation with Matt Green and Mike Duley about how he & The Duley Group (Powered by HRG) closed $50 million dollars in volume their first year in business using social media! Do you want to be like Mike? For 13 years, Mike used to sell large retailers for fortune 200 companies before switching to real estate. One of the things that helped him carve a successful path in the real estate business was his experience with large brands, of how they approach the market, and their market strategy of reaching consumers through social media, which he and his team translated to real estate. Mike did not get to be the Director of Growth for Hergenrother Realty Group and the Founder & CEO of The Duley Group which has locations in Arkansas, Omaha, Kansas City, Charlotte, and North Carolina out of pure luck. At the start of his venture in real estate, Mike figured out that social media is the easiest and most cost-effective way to get through to his audience and get this information to a lot of people. He was purposeful in his approach that when he created the social media platforms, he immediately developed it as The Duley group because that wants to achieve for his organization. That vision gravitated people and made them want to be a part of it. One pivotal moment for this group was when they converted a FSBO and sold her home for $700k by posting a video of it on Facebook with 4,000 friends and highlighting it differently. This young mogul shaped his social media strategy by following people with great engagements and tailored fit it to their team. They took note how to effectively use hash tags, made sure they had a great photographer for sharp contents and has someone that will get involve and engage with their audience. Mike also credits his social media strategy and success with the Keller Williams classes and events that he attended and successful agents that came before him. During his first year, he attended around 20 events, listened, and figured out how he can apply what he learned. Some of his great influencer's are Adam, Tim Howell, Cody Gibson, and The Kristan Cole Network. When it comes to social media strategy, he highly recommends listening to Jeff Wood’s podcast who is doing a great job with his 360 marketing plan. Looking at these people, he realized that social media has to work from recruitment standpoint to working with sellers and buyers achieve their goals. According to Mark King, it takes 13 days for someone to forget you’re in real estate, so Mike emphasized that it’s important that they are sharing their story and sharing it the right way. His team realized that people are going to different social media platforms for different reasons and different platforms also call for different contents, which is why all their postings are being done manually by their marketing managers. These marketing managers also use the social media for their 33 touch. They look up their leads’ social media accounts and utilizes mutual friends to build up the warm connection with these leads. Since social media is dynamic, Mike makes sure that they are investing and learning every day. At the early stage of their business, one of the biggest mistakes that they have made is posting sporadically on all their marketing channels. They took a step back, realized their mishap, and started building their own marketing strategy calendar. They also take their email list of clients and potential leads, upload it on Facebook, and market specifically to that group, which brought them higher ROI at a lesser cost. Facebook Live Events are a great way to organically grow and engage with your audience, and this is being used strategically by the Duley team. One great piece of advice that Mike gave was to be very specific on time. One can’t do it anytime and expect the same level of engagement.
