Join us for an inspiring and heartfelt conversation with Fernanda Bertrand, a holistic business coach originally from Brazil. In this episode, Fernanda shares her journey of immigrating to the United States at the age of 16, detailing the initial challenges she faced, including the language barrier, cultural differences, and the sense of isolation. We explore how navigating high school without speaking English helped shape her resilience and adaptability, laying the foundation for her current work in helping entrepreneurial women find their purpose and align their businesses. We then take an intimate look at the often-overlooked struggles behind building a seven-figure business. Fernanda opens up about the vulnerability required to share the real story, the anxiety that can accompany financial success, and the importance of understanding one's true desires beyond monetary achievements. We discuss the dangers of ego traps and the internal misery that can arise from identifying too closely with business titles. Fernanda emphasizes the value of seeking holistic success and inner peace, sharing a pivotal moment that led her to walk away from a seemingly successful business to pursue a more fulfilling life.   Connect with Fernanda:Website: www.fernandabertrand.com Instagram: @fernanda.bertrand Free resource: The Highest Self Method https://carefree-shadow-534.myflodesk.com/pkba3aqfy6   Let's keep the conversation going!Website: martaspirk.com Instagram: @martaspirk Facebook: Marta Spirk Get ready to take notes and elevate your business's presence as we share over 30 visibility-boosting ideas (access it here: www.martaspirk.com/visibility) and introduce a mastermind program designed to keep you accountable and support your entrepreneurial journey. Holly Jean Jackson is a speaker, author, and holistic coach. This means she gives you three in one - a health coach, life coach, and a business coach. In this episode we are focusing on the value of relaunching your book. You put so much blood, sweat, tears, and hair-pulling into publishing a book. But what happens a few years later? Your publisher did their part, you did the signings, the promotions, and then crickets? Let's hope not. You may even be working on your next book, but you still really love your earlier works. There may be a few places that could use an update or a new version done as an audiobook. Have you done all that? Doing an audio version gives you the opportunity for updates. What about the kindle version? Can you update that? What a great way to reopen conversations with fans, clients, and prospects. Holly and Susan talk about the need for an actual marketing plan to relaunch what you did so well the first time. There is always a new way to do it better, and some elements that should be updated.  Listen to this episode of Rooted in Revenue, "You Wrote a Book, Is It Time to Relaunch It?" ----more---- Links from this episode: Holly's Mastermind chat: https://businessnetworkchat.as.me/?appointmentType=38896056 Learn about the Mastermind: https://rb.gy/sj1mry   Follow Holly: https://hollyjeanjackson.com/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/hollyjjackson/ https://www.instagram.com/coachhollyjeanjackson/ https://www.facebook.com/hollyjeanjackson Inspiration Contagion Podcast Inspiration Contagion Book on Amazon TEDx Talk   Follow Susan: https://susanfinch.com/ https://linkedin.com/in/susanmfinch/ Rooted in Revenue on Apple Podcasts DMANC courses on podcasting taught by Susan Finch:    About Holly Jean Jackson: Holly Jean Jackson is a Holistic Business Coach, Speaker, Podcast Host, Author, and founder of Business Builder Throw Down. Tiffany Napper, the Holistic Business Coach, is a blessing to me and I know you are going to adore her, too. In this episode Tiffany is going to ask you to start acting more like a scientist and get really curious with their next goal or project.  She challenges you to ask five questions as you look at a future challenge and notice how it unlocks new paths for success. Tune in so you can hear her unpack the deeper context to each of the questions: 1-What did you learn? 2-How much of that was within your control? 3-What could or would you do differently next time? 4-Is that valuable information to you moving forward? 5-Where would we be without this experience? So join us in our conversation as we learn about creating awareness and acceptance, then taking aligned action, not shaming ourselves. Real talk? As I watched this back I needed it! I hope it blesses you, too! Strategic clarity is the ability to clearly define, quickly adapt, effectively communicate, and properly implement the company's business strategies. It is the opposite of strategic ambiguity. Strategic clarity as a modern term or phrase most likely arises from a very real problem. Holly Jean Jackson is a Holistic Business Coach, Speaker, Podcast Host, Author, and founder of Business Builder Throw Down. “My career spans from technology to communications as well as organizational change, public relations and content strategy. Since 2011, Helen has worked with hundreds of business owners using a proprietary methodology called Love & Badassery, which combines contemporary business strategy, values-based business models, and a hefty dose of what makes you unique. Helen lives on a permaculture farm in the Canadian countryside, which means if you ever hop on a call with her, you might hear roosters. In this episode, Helen and I talk about regenerative business systems vs. sustainable business systems. Whereas sustainability = net-zero, regenerative = more revenue and less output. We can learn a lot about regenerative business design from Helen's business as well as her permaculture principles (hence the carrots). We also talk about:

It's time to stop living small and start busting your way out of the walls keeping you locked inside! Rebellious growth and taking radical steps mean being able to do something out of the ordinary. Feeling stuck is the number one thing that comes up for people who want to feel better in what they're doing. You're in the right place when you start to recognize the same excuses preventing you from going after your big vision. Your breaking points will make you realize that you have not been nurturing your best self. Instead, you've been walling them in, locking them down. [07:56] Bold, Brilliant, Rebellious Feeling like a powerhouse and being resilient in your business means having a solid belief in yourself. How you want to do things is the right way to do it. [08:34] Uncovering Your Inner Rebel Think about the version of yourself that you want to be that you've always had in your mind — your best self. What would it be like to be the boldest version of yourself? What three words would define them? Jamie calls her inner rebel her magnificent self. She is bold, curious, and resilient. You can call it that also, or something else: your best self, your bold self. Your inner rebel is a piece of you.  [11:14] Your Internal Board of Directors We have an internal board of directors that influences our day-to-day.  The CEO is your inner critic.  You can name them. It's helpful to know who's talking within the different voices within you that keep you in your comfort zone. Your inner critic wants to keep you safe, resulting in unproductivity. Tell her to move over and share the table with the bold version of yourself. Allow both your inner critic and bold self to talk to you when you're making leaps for growth in your business. [13:55] Embracing Small Acts of Radical Rebellion It's about releasing what we're supposed to do, who we're supposed to be, and becoming who we were always meant to be. Approach the version of yourself that you never question. Releasing her limits has made Jamie feel unrestrained in how she shows up to her community and her clients. Doing small acts of radical rebellion means going against “what you're supposed to do”— the things that are not true to who you are. [16:13] Taking the First Steps Toward Radical Rebellion Define what a radical act means for yourself. Radical acts are different for different people. Jamie's first act of rebellion resulted in a meltdown. It was tuning her nervous system for what was to come. The first steps will feel radical to you. Don't compare yourself to others; only compare yourself to your own previous versions. Jamie: “Every person has a radical act that they do the first time, then they can decide, ‘You know what, I didn't die. I'm okay. Actually, I feel more powerful because I did that. So I'm going to take the next step.'” Your big vision dream would feel more attainable once you create small acts of rebellion against your limits. Prove it to yourself. Create evidence to release self-doubt and build confidence. [20:10] Approaching the Most Rebellious Version of Yourself Lean into the bold and brilliant version of yourself that you put on the board. Each step of the way will feel radical. For perfectionists, a small act of rebellion is being able to make a mistake and owning it. We are all programs of what we've learned most of our life. Uploading the bold and rebellious version of you into that will require taking small radical acts. [21:58] Taking Quantum Leaps Quantum leaps are enormous jumps in growth. But people who make quantum leaps also make small leaps in between.  These small acts of rebellion give you evidence of your worth and let you make bold moves one after another. [23:44] A Limit Jamie is Still Working Through Jamie is still working through how she feels about the size of her body. A part of her small act of rebellion is being able to see herself in any size and loving it. She went to a cycling class with her friend, where the room was warm. As such, everybody had taken their tank tops off. The thought of receiving judgment for taking her shirt off became a struggle for Jamie at that moment. But, she overcame it and felt free and more comfortable in doing so. She wants to listen to what her body wants her to do and be selfish about it. [28:48] What it Means to be a Rebel Being a rebel is being more of who you are. It's about taking care of yourself first. The more “you” you can be, the more you can create authentic connections.  It will only be possible when you stop playing small and start being bolder and more expansive. Believing in yourself doesn't mean ridding all doubts and negativity. But the goal is for your desires to outweigh your fears. Jamie: “When it comes down to when someone asks me how they can grow their business, what it means to have resilient growth in their business—it is having radical self-trust.” Your business should evolve with you. It's about being more of you to make connections and having the courage to change things up in your offers as you see fit.  [33:04] Identifying Your Limiting Beliefs What is limiting you? What's one radical act you can take to prove against wanting to show up perfectly? Jamie: "The more rebellious we become against our limits, the more we model our world to be more for us."  The more you embrace the bold version of yourself, the more you'll realize and stand in your leadership. Enjoyed this Podcast on Taking Your First Steps Towards Radical Rebellion?  Today is the day that you will become rebellious and embrace a brilliant, bold, and rebellious you: your best self, the one you dream of being. This New Moon is coming in with your fresh start in a powerful way! It's time to listen to that gut feeling and step forward toward everything you've been dreaming of. In today's episode, Holistic Business Coach, Spiritual Counselor, and Reiki Practitioner Denise Maple shares with us her journey of following her own path and how you too can learn to trust those gut feelings. Denise has been in the steady pursuit of spiritual training since childhood, searching for her spiritual home. When she stumbled upon the Chicago Center for Spiritual Living in Chicago in 2008, she realized that she had not only found her home, but also a philosophy for life, Science of Mind. Simply put, Science of Mind teaches the unity of all life. Intentions and ideas flow through a field of consciousness, which actually affects and creates the world around us. This idea is common to the major religions and is supported by the teachings of psychology and quantum physics. Denise believes that the secret to living a successful life is to overcome fears and limiting beliefs and then consciously choose positive and productive thoughts. Meanwhile, she was also hard at work on her coaching business. With today's technology, starting a business is easier than ever before. If you have the drive, you can make incredible things happen. Ashley: “If you believe in yourself, you have a voice, you have a perspective in this world, and you are not willing to settle for anything less than you want — you can really make it happen.” [13:59] Being Bold and Owning Your Voice on Social Media  Social media is a gift. With it, not only can we set up a business easier than ever before, but we can also make them more meaningful.  Take a bold stance on social media. If you don't feel comfortable with the idea of people showing highlight reels all the time, then don't do it yourself.  Set a standard for your own life. It's easier to blame social media for its flaws, but we need to take radical responsibility.  [17:54] Pushing Past Your Limits and Becoming Bold Ashley shares that being bold often boils down to how willing you are to tell the truth.  People are often burdened with shame for the things they want to share. Emotional alchemy is Ashley's way of helping people through this shame.  Think about what you want to share, why you feel shame around it, and how you can take back your personal power.  [20:38] Normalize Honesty and Reality When we normalize honesty, we help and give permission to others to do the same.  There's no need to feel shame about anything. Let your unique traits empower you and move forward.  Ashley strives to be authentic when sharing her story. She wants to be the same whether in person or online.  Jamie: “The more we try to create a facade — this person who's always handling her stuff, never had a bad month, and handles it all without problems, the more we're going to feel this proving energy, this proving that we aren't who we're representing.”  [24:34] How to Start Sharing  There's no need to share anything before you're ready. Don't put yourself through unnecessary trauma.  We tend to feel shame around personal challenges, but when we share our vulnerabilities, we can better connect and relate to people.  Accept that not everyone will understand you. It's not your job to explain or prove anything to them.  [31:25] How to Keep Evolving Evolution needs to start somewhere. We are constantly crumbling and rebuilding.  The braver you are, the better it gets. Stop making yourself small, and fully own who you are.  If you find yourself struggling, ask yourself: What's one small act of rebelliousness you can take?  Ashley: “I had to break the floodgates after the breakup and be ‘look, guys, I'm struggling' because it needed to propel me forward. It was the catalyst to own my story. You need to crumble, let it crumble, and then rebuild.”  [39:26] How Ashley Can Help You Evolve Ashley recently created a program to help women evolve and stand out.  Since your branding is tied to your voice, you need to know what this voice is. It does not need to be perfectly curated, especially if that's not who you are.  [46:44] What Limitless Means to Ashley For Ashley, limitless means there's so much possibility in life. There's no end or limit to growth.  Limitless women will always evolve and seek that next level of opportunity.  About Ashley Ashley Linanne is a branding and marketing mentor empowering women to show up as their full, authentic selves online. What is it that bridges the gap between ambition and achievement? What's the business strategy you need to make that jump from dream to reality? What does it really take to grow? In this ninth episode of The Limitless Podcast, Jamie shares how to live in the gray area between mindset and strategy. She explains why thriving businesses must cultivate a limitless mindset and efficient systems to optimize operations while saving time and money. Finally, she encourages her listeners to reflect on what they and their businesses need to develop a tailored strategy that works for them.  If you want to know how to get into a limitless mindset and create a reliable business strategy — this episode is for you! Here are three reasons why you should listen to this episode: Learn the power of believing in yourself and creating efficient systems to keep your business running smoothly. Understand why it's acceptable — and sometimes beneficial! — not to be at your most productive and creative all of the time.  Discover content planning ideas for your business strategy to engage more clients. Everyone exists for a purpose.  The second is to create systems that will allow you to improve your processes while also allowing you to rest. [06:39] Masculine and Feminine Energy  The masculine energy relates to today's hustle culture. Working around the clock may be essential; however, too much of it can be dangerous to your health. Feminine energy is the power to create meaningful communities inside and around ourselves. You must balance the two energies to find time to rest and maximize your day.  [09:11] Be Kind to Yourself  Your level of creativity varies each day.  People can't perform their best all the time.  When you're feeling overwhelmed, rely on strategies and systems that work for you.  Ideas generally flow in four stages. To learn more about this, tune in to the episode. [11:42] Combining Mindset and Business Strategy When you apply your mindset to your business strategy, cookie-cutter content transforms into a unique branding for your business. Great storytellers tell memorable stories.  Learn to be an excellent storyteller to establish a solid consumer base. [14:04] Posting With a Soul  Create a structure that will allow you to show up regardless of how you feel. When it comes to content planning, one may choose between candy or meal content. Candy content relays easily digestible stories while meal content tackles a deeper narrative.  Listen to the full episode to learn more about applying candy and meal content to your posts. [16:24] Pay Attention to Your Energy Level Consider when you have the energy necessary for content planning.  Focus on only one task instead of doing everything at once.  Time blocking is only feasible as a strategy if you understand your body's rhythm. Jamie explained the relevance of choosing one day per month to focus on producing material for social media sites. However, one is free to create a strategy that works for them. [22:15] Understand Leadership Leaders show up with authenticity and kindness.  Authenticity is accepting that you will not always be at your best. But, regardless of the odds, you choose to rise above the occasion. Jamie: “What I want to encourage you to do is honor the days that you might feel a little distracted and still be there. Because the more authentic you can be, the more we're going to love every side of you. But know that you don't always have to be the same energy each day.”  Listen to the entire podcast to find out the habits you can adopt to boost your performance. Making an impact as a leader means leading by example. [28:39] Own Your Business Growth Instead of relying solely on your business strategy, a leader must be the most powerful influencer in their organization. Word-of-mouth marketing is still the most cost-efficient way to promote your business.  Keeping your business' motor running means allowing the systems you created to work for you even if you're not around.  Tune in to the entire episode to know how Jamie let her business strategy work despite the internet mishap in Colombia.  [33:17] Business and Self-concept Your business is just part of who you are. It does not encompass your entire identity. Honor what you're putting out into the world, regardless of what others think.  [37:24] Have Fun Optimizing  Distance yourself from the outcomes and focus on the significance of turning up no matter what. Jamie: “The strategies won't work if you don't believe in your business. It's unkind to believe so wholly in your business and never have a strategy.” Living in the gray while harnessing mindset and strategy enables you to work in a flow.  [39:22] Reflect on Your Business  Take time to reflect on your entrepreneurial mindset and business strategy.  You can never see growth when there is no engagement with your clients.  Jamie: “Strategy is understanding how the architects of the internet created the internet; how SEO works, how the algorithms work. All of that is going to be an essential piece of the growth for your business. But we also get to honor who you are.”  Enjoyed this Podcast on Creating Limitless Growth with a Community? She grew up in a small town in Ohio. She is part of a big family, which she sees as a gift wherein there is care and love for each other — a place to fit in. Jamie remembers that she was an A+ student but also had a "mischievous or rebellious" streak. She wasn't afraid to bend the rules when she could.  [11:28] Jamie's Ever-present Curiosity Having grown up in a small town, Jamie always had the core value of being curious, making her want to seek out anything and everything.  For college, she chose to attend Ohio University, and she was the only one from her small town to do so at the time.  Attending Ohio University allowed Jamie to reinvent herself and deepen her curiosity about what she wanted to do in life.  [13:16] First Opportunity for Entrepreneurship At Ohio University, Jamie pursued a degree in magazine journalism. During her college days, she created a digital online magazine called Thread Magazine which ran six times a year. It was the first fashion magazine on her campus.  When establishing Thread Magazine, Jamie learned that the big first step is hard. Instead of putting pressure on herself, she understood that it was time to learn and practice.  She picked up how to unsubscribe from the perfect A+ student mentality from this experience, which also helped her realize the importance of taking care of her health. [16:45] Stepping Foot into Social Media Jamie's first jump into using social media was during her undergraduate days running Thread Magazine. Twitter and Facebook were the commonly used platforms back then.  Pinterest and Instagram were only about to launch.  From her first entrepreneurial experience, she decided to minor in Spanish and marketing.   [18:25] The Move to New York Jamie moved to New York without a job. She heard from others that a New York home address was essential to getting a job in the magazine industry. Her parents were initially baffled by her decision, knowing that living in New York would be expensive. Admittedly, she struggled during her initial years in New York. Jamie couch-crashed upon moving to the city, then eventually stayed in a less-than-ideal apartment.  The New York experience as a fresh graduate was a rite of passage. What's important is that she bet on herself and found her footing and support system. Listen to the full episode to hear more of Jamie's anecdotes about her financial struggles in the Big Apple.  [22:40] Entering the Fashion Industry  Jamie eventually got an internship at Interview Magazine.  Then, she also worked at Henri Bendel for their public relations team. At Henri Bendel's flagship store, Jamie met celebrities and assisted in their shopping during the department store's heyday. Jamie: "I might have been leaving a house in the morning that was the yellow cube of hell. But then I got to slap on some heels…and walk down Fifth Avenue and see, 'Okay, this is the potential.' This is the opportunity that the city can create, where it's just a matter of sticking to my goal, sticking to my desire, and continuing through." A big part of her New York journey was seeing the opportunities everywhere. It could have been overwhelming, but she chose to subscribe to the opportunity.  [24:21] Diving into the Corporate World After working at Henri Bendel, Jamie moved to a corporate setting and ran the social media for Jetsetter, a brand of Tripadvisor, for five years. She supported Jetsetter in navigating content and maximizing their email for revenue and partnerships. At Jetsetter, she worked with Showtime on their television series Billions, and on the drama series Suits. Jamie experienced her first burnout in her social media manager role.  [26:00] Social Media and Businesses There are two foundational groups of businesses that try to use social media.  The first is those who ask the hard-hitting questions about how social media helps their businesses thrive. The other group is those who are excited to build a community with social media. The former, especially with older established brands, took a little bit of convincing to get them aboard to use social media to leverage their business. This is why Jamie became a so-called data nerd, creating spreadsheets to show how to generate new traffic, looking at traffic sources, and turning them into partnerships.  [28:39] Trying Out Entrepreneurship Jamie decided to leave Jetsetter without a job in line. She looked for other work and was offered corporate opportunities, but felt that these were the same as what she had just left. Then, she realized that she could turn her previous freelance work into a career — working as a consultant for TEDx speakers, bestselling authors, and female-owned brands. However, Jamie still experienced burnout, having adopted a “more clients = more money” mindset. [30:11] The Wake-up Call In 2019, Jamie's dad died from complications before his retirement. He was an insurance agent who worked long hours.  From this challenging ordeal, she had two realizations. One was to prioritize her health and help others do the same.  Jamie: "We are meant to live this life, not work to live. We want work to be life-giving." Another was that she already had the toolkit to create a healthy routine, which included meditation and paying attention to her body's needs. [32:41] Deciding to Become a Coach Jamie became a certified health coach in 2019, celebrating her father's legacy through what she does now and finding her meaning and purpose in life. Jamie: "Life-giving because what happens inside our internal thoughts, the mindset, the way we take care of ourselves, absolutely bleeds out into our business, absolutely down to our relationships, and ultimately, how focused we are how much we enjoy things." After sharing about the loss of her father, she found her community.  As a health coach and holistic business coach, it's all about empowerment, not the hustle. [34:54] The Present  Jamie has been an entrepreneur for five years and a coach for three years. Her journey was about owning the process and learning. It took her three years to get to a six-figure earning, but it was more about the people she helped and the impact felt, rather than the money.  Coaching has become her most fulfilling experience. [36:21] The Choice to Share Jamie embraced vulnerability to share her story — showing others that it took a support system, failures, and challenges to get to where she is now. The three main areas allowing Jamie to be a full-time entrepreneur with many avenues include a support system, a strong self-belief, and activating strategies. She translated her learnings to her latest program — Thrive Mastermind. Listen to the full episode and check out the resources section to know more about Thrive Mastermind. Do you have a community where you can be yourself and grow alongside your peers? As busy as you may be, it is essential for entrepreneurs to cultivate community. According to Emily Merrell – founder of Six Degrees Society and this week's guest – entrepreneurs should network every day.  In the seventh episode of The Limitless Podcast, Emily joins us to talk about the importance of building your network and your community. We discuss the art of effective networking, which could land you referrals and potential clients. We dive into the advantages of belonging to a community and developing quick problem-solving skills. However, she couldn't see herself becoming a director of events or CMO of the company. She also found that pivoting her career can be costly.  Emily started Six Degrees Society to bring friends from different industries together and share what they do. She used member bios to form diverse groups. She continued to plan these monthly events until 2016 when she realized that this community could become a company.   [11:33] Emily's Motivation for Becoming a Coach Emily's business coach pointed out that her work was about helping and guiding others — the core of what coaches do.  After overcoming her imposter syndrome, Emily used the success of Six Degrees Society to build a coaching business.  Her coaching focuses on helping people grow their businesses through community events and partnerships.  Emily encourages new coaches to be generous and give services to people in exchange for testimonials and feedback.  Practice is invaluable. Practice will improve the way you sell and boost your confidence.  [16:38] Getting Clients as a Newbie Coach Don't be afraid to tell people that you're selling your services.   The fear of selling is often the fear of burdening others with your offer or the fear of rejection.  You cannot promote in the dark. Jamie shares that people usually take seven to 12 interactions before working with someone. Emily: “When in motion, stay in motion. Once you've hooked one person, keep selling. The right clients will find you at the right time, but you also have to fly your flag and let people know you're selling something.”  [18:51] Taking a Chance on Life-Changing Opportunities Emily shares that her parents were entrepreneurs. She liked how it gave them the freedom to spend time with their family without requesting time off.  When she was still in the corporate world, Emily felt guilty for taking time off.  Entrepreneurs can create a healthy environment for themselves.  The pandemic allowed her to leave the Bay Area, create a mastermind group, shift her work virtually, and give her the freedom to work from anywhere.   [22:56] Why Networking is Important Referrals can shorten the number of necessary touchpoints from the usual seven to twelve, down to three to four. Emily shares that she did not have a website when she first started. She gained clients through referrals.  Six Degrees Society started with Emily's close friends, but it has grown to include friends of friends. This helped her build a strong network of referrals.   Emily: “One good experience can change everything. [It's the] same thing with community, it is a lot more fun to do business with people you know and trust, and [you can] also pre-vet it.”  [26:44] Referrals and Social Media Go Hand-In-Hand  Remember that referred clients will always check your website and socials first before working with you.  Your social media marketing needs consistency and accountability.  If you don't know what to put on social media, ask yourself, ‘How would I like people to feel while engaging with my stuff?'  You can also think about what you want others to ask you for.  [29:05] Everyone Needs Community People need community. However, many people don't reach out until they need something. Being in a community can help you grow and learn as your life changes.  A community should not be something you look for when you need something; it should be built naturally over time.  Your problems are not unique. If you open up about them in a community, there's a high chance someone else has had a similar problem.   Learn from others. Accept that we don't need to try to reinvent the wheel ourselves.  Emily: “Build your networking community when you aren't looking for anything and then tap it when you are. People are going to be that much more receptive to help you.” [35:37] Open Up to a Community   Emily notes that groups can be intimidating, sometimes. Some people fear they aren't enough or are too far behind. Emily reminds us that we can soar when we lean on others.  Remember that the five people you surround yourself with can dictate who you are.  [38:39] How to Practice Networking Emily recommends practicing networking every day. It doesn't need to be at a networking event; it can be with the people you meet on the streets.  Every person can be a potential connection. Be open-minded.  Choose networking events that interest you, so you will be able to meet like-minded people.  Emily suggests wearing something that makes you feel empowered and easy to identify during these events. She also recommends setting intentions but lowering expectations. For instance, having the goal to introduce yourself to two people, rather than coming out with a new job.   [43:51] What Limitless Means to Emily For Emily, “limitless” means being able to buy things without fear or scarcity and operating from a place of generosity and abundance.   It's also about being able to react and make life changes freely.   About Emily Emily Merrell is the founder and business coach at Six Degrees Society, co-founder of the Ready Set Coach Program, and podcast host of The Sixth Degree Podcast. As entrepreneurs, we can be really tough on ourselves in an effort to make everything “perfect.” You may think being an overachiever is what it takes to be successful, but in Jamie's experience, it can hinder success instead. Perfectionism, or the good girl mentality, can quickly lead to burnout!  In the sixth episode of The Limitless Podcast, we will discuss how the good girl mentality affects how we do business and stops us from achieving success. It's not about being a martyr and forgetting to take care of ourselves.  [07:24] Stop Trying to be Perfect Working through the good girl mentality starts with perfectionism. Jamie shares having sprinters who spend two and a half hours on just one social media post!  It's not about having perfect posts all the time; it's about showing that you're an active creator. Perfectionism tells us that people will judge us if we're not put together all the time.  Meanwhile, some people may be achieving many things in their life, but they end up forgetting to take care of themselves.  [10:57] How to Know if You Have a Good Girl Mentality Jamie knows someone has a good girl mentality if they say they need to figure things out before joining a program.  This mentality can stop people from seeking help because they see it as a weakness.  People with this mentality also tend to be people-pleasing. However, this can easily lead to burnout and overwhelm.  If you continue having this mentality, you will feel caged.  [13:56] How to Change Adrenaline into Nourishment Jamie wants to help entrepreneurs uncage themselves from the good girl mentality so they can prioritize themselves and lean into what they want to do.  Adrenaline is all about the hustle and posting as much as you can. It commonly manifests in our to-do lists.  Every day, you will have four hours of deep focus. Yet, we expect ourselves to work optimally every hour of the day.  Instead of trying to accomplish 20 things on your to-do list, limit it to a maximum of three tasks. These should honor how you're feeling and nurture you.  Start the day with this question: what is the one thing I can do today that will make me feel empowered?  [20:13] It's Not Always Positive You don't need to feel positive and good all the time. Sometimes, it's good for you to feel negative feelings.  If we ignore our feelings, we're not going to be as productive or creative.  Anytime you're hesitating to do something, ask yourself where the need for perfectionism is coming from.  Jamie recommends sitting with this feeling for at least 3 minutes without distractions.  Choose nourishment over adrenaline.  Jamie: “Achieve at the best you can, at the best mental capability that you can be productive — because you're taking care of yourself, not because everyone else is being more productive than you are.”  [23:05] Consistency in Your Own Terms  For masculine energy, consistency is about the output and doing as much as possible.  On the other hand, the feminine energy is all about what will move the needle for you and help you show up every day.  Gurus would teach posting every day, and some would even post more than once a day. For them, consistency means giving up time for content.  Instead of trying to post as much as you can, Jamie recommends just posting five days a week and seeing whether it works for you. She also recommends batching your content.  Content creation is a marketing habit, and you need to define accomplishment and consistency on your own terms.  [28:14] Remember that You're Human Remember that your products and services can change over time. You can redefine your ideal client; it doesn't need to stay the same forever.  If you're trying to please people, you will be trapped in the thinking that you can't change anything in your business.  Remember that you decide your future and how you want to create it.     Jamie: “You decide your future. You decide how you want to create it. No algorithm, no audience member, no client is going to change it because you're the person that shows up every single day within your business and you want to make sure it feels good to you.” [31:18] Lead with Energy Rather Than Strategy  A strategy may be helpful, but it will not win people over. Energy should come first.  You may have the perfect strategy, but if you don't feel good about it, you won't be able to show up consistently.  Know how you want to show up and the impact you want to create.  [35:01] Imperfection is Freedom None of us have everything figured out.  Imperfection allows you to grow the most. If we're “perfect” all the time, we won't learn anything.  Challenges are part of the journey. Instead of feeling defeated, ask yourself what you can learn from the situation.  Accept your imperfections and be able to laugh about them. In the full episode, Jamie shares how you can release expectations with a simple exercise of taking photos.  Jamie: “Imperfection is key. The challenge is the journey — the challenges you face are going to exponentially lead you to success versus never having a hair out of place.”  [38:52] How Jamie Wants to Help You Jamie launched the Social Expansion program to coach people on using multiple social media platforms.  Rather than creating the perfect strategy, Jamie helps clients create an empowered ecosystem around their business.  She guides clients through deconstructing the good girl mentality, coming back to who they are, and how they want to show up in their business.  Enjoyed this Podcast on Creating Limitless Belief in Ourselves? Resources Break free from Instagram dependence with Jamie's Social Expansion 6-week group course! Read about the effects of 20 minutes of exercise on your brainpower in this NCBI paper! Episode Highlights [03:30] Resilience in Success  “Success does not come from continuously winning. Success comes from challenges, comes from figuring out that things aren't working exactly how you want, finding yourself getting stuck sometimes, but also, of course, celebrating those big wins” Resilience is essential to growing a successful business.  Be aware and accept the things that are holding you back.  Embrace the process and learn to bounce back and overcome adversities.  Learn to celebrate the present. This includes sitting with and showing up on the hard days.  [05:46] Your Best Self Is Your Business's Biggest Asset You are your business's lifeblood and life force. You are your business's biggest asset.  It is a must to take care of your mind, body, and spirit. By doing so, you can be your best self. Resilience is actively seeking and dismantling patterns that slow you down, creating new systems, and adjusting your mindsets accordingly.  [06:32] #1: Prioritize Your Health “You are going to get your best creativity, your best energy, and your best problem solving when you take care of your body first.” Your brain is affected by your routines, like your diet and sleep. Resilience comes from within. This is why it is crucial to prioritize your health.  It only takes 10 minutes of movement to change your day.  Take breaks to recharge! You can't be your best self if you're exhausted. [09:22] Incorporating Movement Daily  You do not need an hour-long workout to reap the benefits of your mind. A study has found that it can only take as little as 5 to 20 minutes of movement a day to get your brain working at its best.  You can use the Pomodoro Technique to create breaks during your day. Take a stroll or dance in your living room.  Think about how you plan and execute movement throughout the day. Overextending and overworking yourself can have detrimental effects.  Take breaks. Like a muscle, you can't be using your mind continuously. It needs rest too. [14:28] #2 Think of Failure as a Key to Success Challenges and failures are a part of the road to success. No one can relate to someone who's never struggled. Acknowledge problems but do not dwell on them. Show up and be solution-oriented instead.  The Scarcity vs. Abundance Paradigm: we are neither abundant nor scarce all the time. Our focus should be on finding ways to activate ourselves during scarcity.  Be mindful of your mind and body's current state. Ask yourself, "Why am I feeling scarcity?" Then pull yourself out of it.  “The more we talk to ourselves in a positive way, the more we're going to be able to flip that script a little more easily.” [19:59] #3: Embrace the Power of Regular Self-Reflection Review where you spend your time and energy regularly. Self-reflection is how you build resilience in the long term. Self-trust comes from having a more profound inner knowing of who you are. Cultivate a resilience mindset. What does your best self look like?  Reflect on your life so you can address issues you encounter.  Ask yourself, “Where do I feel stuck right now?” Then, try to find an activating step to alleviate your dilemma.  You are the energy of your business, and you want to preserve that. Don't neglect your mental health for your business! [24:40] #4: Creating an Ironclad Structure for your Business Step 1: Do not be dependent on a single channel. Instead, choose your channels and make sure they represent you well. Remember that you are creating an empire of what you do.  You do not have to have a website to start a business. But you have to have one to scale a business.  Step 2: Be inclusive in treating your email subscribers. Make them feel like they are part of an inner circle.  Step 3: Maximize your social media for brand awareness and conversion. Create a structure — an ecosystem for your business — where you allow yourself to be independent and not hold on tightly to one platform.  [31:56] #5: Celebrating Yourself and Savoring Celebrations People are always on the lookout for the next thing and very seldom in the present. We are often only present when in pain.  Celebration is about presence. It's about honoring all the work you've done.  We do not only celebrate big wins. It can be as simple as getting through a workout or getting a fantastic cup of coffee in the morning.  “All of these are wins. All of these tell us and our subconscious that we can keep winning. We can keep celebrating. We're not going to just continue to move into the next stress, the next thing we have to do.” Write down five gratitudes every single day. It gives you a better appreciation of now.  Find people you are ready to celebrate with and will make you want to continue to move. You might have heard that niching down is the key to business success. However, as with all things, the truth is far more complex. Instead of focusing on niching down, you will find more value in visualizing your ideal client and focusing your efforts on them. Placing yourself in your audience's shoes empowers you to create more value for your ideal client. In the second episode of The Limitless Podcast, we dive in on the truth about building your business around a niche. We talk about how the term "niche" takes the aspect of humanity away and why using "ideal client" will serve you more. We share how to develop your ideal audience with clarity and how it can empower your business. Through this episode, you can avoid the common pitfalls in niching down and start making a bigger impact. If you want to learn how to create your ideal client, this episode is for you! Here are three reasons why you should listen to this episode: Learn the critical things to think about when visualizing your ideal client. The term “niche” takes humanity away. The goal of creating a business or content is to help other humans. Instead of "niche," you can use the terms "ideal client" or "target audience." Jamie: “Especially if you are a small business or solopreneur, you want to make sure that the choice of your ideal client and how you create them is going to be an empowering process, not only for your offers but also your content.” [05:39] The Concept of a Niche You have to create content with a specific person in mind. Who can you help the most? Who is going to be most excited about your product or service? Visualize your ideal client in their day-to-day, and identify how to create an intimate connection with them. You can create potent, compelling, and converting content when you have a person in mind.   The goal of creating content is to allow somebody to feel seen and heard. [07:04] Creating an Ideal Client Give your ideal client a name as if they were an imaginary friend. Have regular conversations with them on what guidance you can give them. Start with demographics. Knowing how much they make is also important. But it's crucial not to get too hung up on it. Having an idea of your ideal client's salary range will help you understand what they can afford and be willing to spend on. The most important thing is knowing their behavior. What happens in their daily lives? Then, think about the challenges they face that you can uniquely solve. [12:29] Two Types of Ideal Client Pain Point There are external and internal client pain points you alone can address. As a business coach, Jamie helps clients externally by growing their audience and wealth and internally with imposter syndrome and burnout. Jamie: “So all of this is a part of really getting to create your ideal client, not finding them — you create them. You create this persona so that you can have them in mind.” [14:13] Wanting to be for Everyone There are some common objections against creating an ideal client. The most common is wanting to be for everyone. The idea of wanting to be for everyone comes from a form of scarcity. Jamie: “Within a business, if you want to be for everyone, you are thinking that that tactic or that mindset is going to allow you to make the most money — the opposite is true.” Declaring your presence is not a way to connect with someone at a party. It's better to find something people find relatable to create a connection they'll remember. You are not for everyone. It's best to be there for people who are ready and excited to connect with you. [17:46] The Worry about “Niching Down” It's the idea that you will ostracize another group that you can also help. Keep in mind that there will be different versions of the ideal client you create. Each of us is a multi-level, multi-passionate, and ever-growing person. Defining a person means knowing their behavior and understanding that they will work through many stages. Create different versions of your ideal client with the vision that you can be on the entire journey with them. [20:07 Primary and Secondary Audience Do five content pillars whenever you're creating your content strategy. The three content pillars must go to the money-making and loyal client. One of the other content pillars must go to the audience that might buy from you. It helps to have a primary and secondary audience. The fifth pillar should be your story — the person behind the business. All your content pillars must create a ripple effect for you and your ideal client. [23:48] Common Realizations Upon Creating an Ideal Client Your ideal client may likely be a previous version of yourself. It's a beautiful goal to help your ideal client get to where you're at faster by sharing your own experiences. Defining your ideal client sets a preference for who you would like to continue working with. It's setting a boundary for yourself and a better future for your business. [27:54] Common Pitfalls in Creating a Niche Number one is the notion that you should niche down to one type of content or one thing you're good at. Focusing on doing only one thing is zapping. You are a multi-passionate human who has more than one thing to give. Content creation is an energy exchange. You will know when someone gets lit up by the content they make versus just pushing stuff out. YOU are a significant factor in creating your ideal audience. Resentment comes up when your audience does not respond in the way you want to. You have to know the people that you help intimately to make adjustments. [33:27] Why Creating an Ideal Client Empowers you Call your ideal client, content pillars, and your story your marketing master core. These brand cores are always developing. Create strong relationships, feel energized by your content, and realize you are a creative visionary. Social media is a gift that allows us to connect with people we can help most. Having an ideal client allows you to be more creative, create excitement, and build loyalty. The goal is to create a community around the impact you want to make. We all have limitless potential. We were born blank slates, ready to have all sorts of new experiences and create our lives. But as we go on our individual journeys, we find that our thoughts, beliefs and programming can limit us. Society, well-meaning friends, rivals — all manner of things create limiting beliefs that hold us back from being what we could become. Thus, the first step toward reaching your highest potential is to break down these barriers and focus your mind on the limitless.  In the first episode of The Limitless Podcast, we lay down the three types of limits that hinder your potential. We share examples of how they manifest and what you can do to break free from them. We also introduce the goal and the idea behind the podcast — to create limitless beliefs in our listeners and help you create the life and business of your dreams. Through this episode, you'll learn that you have the power to define yourself and your endless potential. If you want to learn how to break free from limiting narratives and ditch the hustle, this episode is for you! It's nearly impossible to reach tangible outcomes without uncovering the intangible block of limiting beliefs. We all have unlimited potential, but getting there may require some hardship. It's challenging to work through self-imposed limits and limits imposed by others. The idea behind the podcast is to help replace limiting beliefs with limitless beliefs. [03:41] #1: Societal Limits These are the limits that tell us how women and men should behave. Society says that women must be humble and put others first, while male strength is being an emotionless provider. Some things people found to be virtues in the past do not apply today. We consciously or unconsciously subscribe to stereotypes that don't feel good to us. We get to change these limits in our current world. [05:09] Stereotypes on Selling Many female clients find trouble with selling.  There's a preconceived notion that men are the best at closing sales because sales are supposed to be manipulative. Manipulativeness isn't necessarily masculine, and selling can be “feminine.” Sales can be about relationships and community instead. [06:36] How to Break Free from Societal Limits It can be hard to break free from societal limits because society imprinted them on us. To work through these limits, we must understand that we define ourselves — no one else. We have the power to redefine the rules and standards society has set in the past. We get to be the new example and definition of what it means to be a powerful woman. [07:52] #2: Relationship Limits These are the limits imposed by the people surrounding you. The biggest influences on you are the five closest people to you. The creations and people we have around us create what we want for the future. It becomes easy to stay where you are and not take risks because of the status quo. [09:49] When People Set a Limit Against You Tune in to the full episode to hear Jamie's experience of getting no support in pursuing her younger self's dream! When people cast doubt on what your dreams are, it means they would never do it themselves. Jamie: "When someone close to you sets a limit against you, it's not that they think you can't do it — it's simply that they would never do it. So they would never do it; they don't want someone who's close to them to do it." They may think they're preventing you from suffering. Alternatively, they might feel more comfortable if you stay the same. [12:10] How to Counteract Relationship-Imposed Limits Awareness and kindness can counteract this limit. You're capable of whatever you set your mind to. You will get strengthened by finding a community that will support you. It's normal for friction to develop with your relationships when trying to do something new. You can be the new example for the people who told you not to take a risk. A strong belief in yourself is a must before you share the change you want to make with other people. [14:56] #3: Self-Imposed Limits These are limits we don't realize subconsciously or put on ourselves.   It's the most difficult to overcome because we tend to go back to what's comfortable. The surprising reality: all limits are self-imposed. Jamie: "All limits are self-imposed. We get to decide how much weight relationships and societal limits have an effect on us." [16:06] Overcome Self-Imposed Limits; Create Limitless Beliefs The podcast is about overcoming self-imposed limits, flipping them, and making them limitless. A growth mindset, strategy, physical and mental health, growth, and love allow us to break free from self-imposed limits. The true act of being limitless for Jamie is creating the podcast. It took her more than five years to finally do it because of the limiting narrative she told herself. We don't need to reach a predetermined version of ourselves before allowing ourselves to follow our heart's desires. The notion of “being ready” is undefinable. Jamie: “It's the fallacy of being accomplished that prevents us from accomplishing all that we've ever wanted.” [20:17] Content Planning Sprints Jamie leads workshops in the Content Planning Sprints. The program contains content strategy and involves community building. It is a two-and-a-half-hour workshop that can help you create content worthy of sharing. Content Planning Sprints are typically on Wednesdays at 10 am or 2 pm EST. Enjoyed this Podcast on Creating Limitless Belief in Ourselves?
