Unleashing The Joker: The Rise, Fall, and Future of UFC's Jay Perrin The 135 lb champion of the 2019 Cage Titans speaks about the UFC run (FEB 2019) Hear what it takes to be a fighter people want to watch and will listen to before he joins the UFC. PERRIN talks about what it takes to be a fighter people want to watch While Perrin may appear to be the same person he was in 2023, he has had a very difficult journey to get there. Perrin says "I FIGHT FOR MORE THAN MYSELF, fights for the city he grew up in.. we all grew up poor without a silver spoon, and if I can do it so can you. You don't need to be some super-gifted athlete you just need to grind hard and when you fall get back up! To anyone who thinks they are down and OUT...YOU NOT!!!!" Perrin's Early Career In his early career, Perrin fought for regional promotions such as Cage Titans and CES MMA. He quickly established himself as a force to be reckoned with, winning his first four professional fights via submission or TKO. However, Perrin faced his first setback in 2018 when he suffered a unanimous decision loss to Richie Santiago at CES MMA 50. Despite the setback, Perrin bounced back with a vengeance, winning his next four fights and capturing the Cage Titans bantamweight title in the process. Perrin's UFC Debut Perrin's hard work and dedication paid off when he received the call to compete in the UFC. His debut came on August 22, 2020, at UFC Fight Night: Munhoz vs. Edgar, where he faced fellow newcomer, Jordan Griffin. Although Perrin lost a close split decision, he showed that he belonged in the UFC with his gritty performance. He proved that he has the heart and determination to succeed at the highest level of MMA. Perrin takes the motivation he receives from his closest friends who cannot be here any longer and turns it into a strength by channeling his higher power: the angels. The UFC has yet to turn Jay down a challenge. Unfortunately being young and hungry with the glory of the biggest stage on the planet in their hands most fighters become gun hoes vs being focused on the long term within the organization. Sadly this leads to 3 fights with 2 losses that can have a very dark blemish on a fighter's value and future as their next contract negotiation approaches. Perrin's fighting style is characterized by his unpredictability and creativity. He is equally comfortable on the feet and on the ground, and he is always looking for ways to surprise his opponents with unorthodox techniques and strategies. Conclusion: The Future Looks Bright for Jay Perrin Jay Perrin is a rising star in the UFC bantamweight division. New Year 2017 MMA ROUND-Up SPECIAL FLASHBACK 2017: Picture this wild ride if you were not there it was one hell of a year to be an MMA journalist traveling to events like the infamous New York Brooklyn Barclay Center where I rolled up and made a studio inside of the Starbucks conducting a live podcast where tons of MMA fans and customers surrounded me to see what was going on. Yet Ariel Helwani walks in an hour later and no one even notices? But I did especially his nasty-looking shoes! This was a significant event if I remember it was UFC 209 where Khabib was supposed to fight Tony Ferguson once again but was scraped and replaced with Al Iaquinta in Tony's place! THAT WASN'T THE TAKE AWAY if you remember.... nope I was there for the DOLLY INCIDENT AND CONOR BEING ARRESTED! I even got to take a replica photo right after he was taken out of the police station in handcuffs. Me and Chris from the MMA Holes (AKA MOS AND JESSY) I'll share the photo on my Twitter for everyone in this thread for the podcast link @XEVilEddieX . Also in 2017, we saw Bisping as our Middleweight Champion in the UFC when I told everyone he would knock Rockhold out...... I was told to try a different profession but now we know how that one ended don't we? The hype for Cris Cyborg inside the UFC was very much alive and terrifying as she was heading into a fight with who was also crowned one of the most dangerous women on the planet at the time in Holly Holm for UFC 219 to close out the year! OH AND DID I FORGET TO MENTION covering the Mayweather vs McGregor Presser that was also held at the BARCLAY Center in Brooklyn New York? Yeah, the one where Conor McGregor compared himself to a black man while wearing a giant white fur coat and throwing dollar bills everywhere and telling Mayweather and his two goons who looked like the dumb monsters from TMNT, to pick it up like "dancers". That PPV passed 4.3 million buys making it the biggest PPV of all time! We also saw Max Holloway defeat Showtime Pettis at Featherweight to become the INTERIM Featherweight Champion when the UFC Stripped McGregor for not immediately signing an agreement to defend the featherweight title making Jose Aldo the Champion Once Again until Max took that fight at UFC 212 where Max finished Aldo and then even went on to do a rematch at UFC 218 and beat him once again. This was also the year that Colby Covington became the loudmouth you all know him as today. When I interviewed him he was actually very nice and there was NO gimmick like there was in 2017 to now! In fact, he became one of the most hated men in the sport and a real target in Brazil when he lit the entire country on fire with just a few words I will not repeat on this show. WELCOME BACK TO ONE OF THE TOP 40 RANKED "MUST FOLLOW IN 2020-2022" PODCASTS According to Multiple Online Websites! Today's show is a special one that I consider to be on my list of "THE BEST OF PURE EVIL MMA PODCAST" And it is from 2017! FLASHBACK SEPTEMBER 29TH 2017 the UFC just headlined UFC 215 Nunes vs Valentina Shevchenko 2 and Jon Jones Finished Daniel Cormier in their rematch fight at UFC 214 with a kick to the head followed by a true PEAK Beatdown from Jones Bones. The MMA community was in its post-McGregor hype and new MMA fans were coming out of every direction making Twitter accounts and trying their best to act like they had been long time fans, the MMA Podcast scene saw a huge rise in new talents as The Fighter And The Kid was at the height of its popularity along with Joe Rogans Fight Companion (if I remember correctly). Suddenly out of nowhere MMA fans began retweeting and sharing with all their friends and fighters these crazy accurate but Flying Circus-type portraits of every upcoming or post-fight and even some popular MMA news being made by a man that no one had ever heard before named Mojahed Fudailat! With a few years under my belt and after finishing broadcasting school I couldn't help myself from reaching out to Mojahed Fudailat to ask for an interview with him about all the success and recognition he was getting in what seemed like an overnight permanent trend that would make so many of us get a good laugh after our long weeks struggling day to day threw life with only MMA being our go-to medicine. These animated shorts were not just stupid parodies but he really nailed down the tiniest of details in every video that showed how well he had been following every headline and picking up on some of the smaller type headlines or stupid actions made by fighters and adding them into these animations. It was the perfect storm at the time due to how strict the MMA community was getting with so many new faces acting like they had been around MMA forever but Mojahed Fudailat putting the tiniest details into every single video he put out only gave him the nod from the biggest names inside the scene like Joe Rogan, Tyron Woodley, and even Dana White Himself! Once I reached out to Mojahed I was honestly surprised by how quickly he was to respond by asking me when we could do it! And to my surprise, no one else had ever even asked him for an interview or to come onto their show for some reason while he was in his prime of gaining millions on millions of views in total from every short animation he was putting out each week! AS REQUESTED, Here is one of my personal favorite GAME TYPE episodes from back in 2015 with TED CZECH and EVil Eddie where you at home could send in your TOP 5 LIST! So when we refer to the "Apocalypse ( When we discussed what kind of an Apocalypse we would be trying to survive in we pictured more like a MAD MAX mixed with "The Walking Dead") Even more interesting, Along with picking your fighters, you must also give a very good reason as to why that fighter would be a good asset to have on your team to survive. THE ONLY RULES OR CAUTIONS FOR PICKING YOUR TEAM: Each fighter must have their own special skill and as we all know... NO ONE IS PERFECT... So maybe you would want McGregor on your team at the time but would his ego leave you for dead? Is it a good idea to have all BIG GUYS? What would be the best weight class that holds all-around qualities for survival? If you can only pick 5 fighters should you at least have one female to have on your team or two because in the end we may have to repopulate the earth with the most elite fighters (of 2016 in this case) so don't be picky If you do have to repopulate earth who would be the best fit to create the next generation of children from your team? Who would be able to get along the best and follow directions without causing any drama that may lead to danger? Who would you pick as the team captain that everyone would respect and could make the best choices for battle, shelter, and handling conflicts or negotiating when running into other small tribes along our way? Who would be able to help the team keep a high spirit when the days turn to weeks the weeks turn to months and then years?
