When it comes to the G-League, no team was under wider microscope than the G-League Ignite team. The team is made up of some of the most talented class of 2021 prospects including guys like Jalen Green, Jonathan Kuminga, Daishen Nix and Isaiah Todd along with legitimate NBA veterans like Jarrett Jack and Brandon Ashley. As a team that may revolutionize the NBA basketball pipeline as a more reliable Segway to the NBA than college basketball or overseas, this team came with high expectations and a lot of things to dissect. On this edition of the podcast, the guys have a roundtable discussion with friends of the show Brooks Warren from the "Hear Me Out Podcast" and Ian Evans from "The Impact w/ Ian Evans Podcast" breaking down some of their biggest takeaways from the Ignite's G-League season. The guys also take a look at the four prospects and talk about the impact of this season on their draft stock, whether college would have been a better option and what we believe these guys could do/be at the next level. We always enjoy having Brooks and Ian on, hope you guys enjoy the content! More NBA and College Basketball coverage ahead! Stay Tuned!
Patrick breaks down his impressions of the Santa Cruz Warriors' loss to the G League Ignite team. Bottom line: if the Warriors get the Minnesota Timberwolves 2021 first-round pick at #4 or #5, they should pray Jonathan Kuminga is still there. It's early but he impressed. Keep tabs on this kid. Jordan Poole scored points but he didn't really show much. Nico Mannion didn't shoot well, but he still looks like a natural-born point guard. And Jeremy Lin and Jarrett Jack should be in the league just for fun!
Sam Esfandiari is joined by Aaron Larsuel to discuss the G-League Bubble Opener between the Walnut Creek Ignite and the Santa Cruz Warriors. Our first impressions of the top prospects Jonathan Kuminga & Jalen Green, Jarrett Jack stories, whether Jordan Poole or Nico Mannion are ready for the NBA and who we've learned most about in Warriors Management this season. This episode we are joined by special guest Justin Jack brother of NBA player Jarrett Jack and host of "The Life Podcast". He joins us and shares his thoughts on various topics including the NBA resuming in Orlando and his life growing up.
All-American, All Big Ten, Gopher Great, and former NBA Player Vincent Grier hopped on the show. Vincent told me about a Charlie Weber event in High School that really put him on the map. At that tournament, Vincent balled out on Amar'e Stoudemire, Jarrett Jack and Carmelo Anthony. After that tournament the High School (Mount Zion Christian Academy) that Amar’e and Jarrett Jack represented instantly recruited Vincent to transfer to the school. This prestigious high school also produced Tracy “TMac” McGrady. After that every School in the country was recruiting Vince minus Duke. He chose to stay close to home so his grandparents wouldn’t miss his first college game at the University of Charlotte. Things didn’t go the way he would have liked and asked for his release, the school wouldn’t grant Vince’s release which forced him to JUCO at Dixie St. and play for Jeff Kidder. After a great year at Dixie St. the offers poured in once again. Vince goes into detailed reasoning as to why he chose Minnesota over Arizona among other schools. His experience with Dan Monson. Why Vincent thinks the Gophers aren’t keeping in state talent and what he thinks they should do to change that. Winning a Gold Medal in Turkey for team USA and how he went from being almost cut to the most important piece of the team. And his NBA playing days with Dwayne Wade, Shaquille O’Neal, Alonzo Mourning, Gary Payton, Jason “White Chocolate” Williams, Antoine Walker and Pat Riley. How Gary Payton almost got him beat up by Alonzo Mourning. The pranks Jason Williams would play on rookies. What it was like guarding going head to head with Dwayne Wade everyday. A must listen!!
Truck brings his #unmatched energy to the show with John Wall of the Washington Wizards and NBA veteran Jarrett Jack.
In a memorable finale to our Shepherd basketball coverage, Nick Arguelles joins us and Marquell Campbell acts as our studio audience as Ryan goes in on a certain opposing player on a certain opposing team as we discuss the final game of the season and the PSAC conference awards. Eventually we talk about Tom Brady and the NFL off-season a bit, the possible Al Michaels to ESPN trade, and whether Bill Walton should call every sports game on Earth. Too much time is spent on the Warriors roster and even more time is spent on Jarrett Jack for some reason. We discuss the best names in sports history. I really don't know how we ended up talking about half of this stuff. The most all-over-the-place episode yet, and that's really saying something.
Episode 2 is here!! This week on The Kaz & Vic Show we're talking potential Anthony Davis destinations, DeMar DeRozan's comments about Toronto and Game 3 of the NBA Finals. Can't forget that we were blessed to speak with point guard Jarrett Jack about his career thus far. Tune in and make sure you go follow @reallifekaz and @countonvic! Knicks behind a Triple double from Jarrett Jack, fall short against the Bulls for the 3 time this season... is it time to tank ?
For the start of the podcast, Frank Ntilikina joins NBC's Kurt Helin to talk about his adjustment to the NBA, how Jarrett Jack and Jeff Hornacek help him out, and how he's getting used to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in the locker room (Ntilikina is helping The Boys & Girls Clubs of America because every time anyone uses #PBJLikeAPro on social media, Jif and Smuckers will donate $1 to the Club). After that, Dan Feldman from NBC Sports joins Kurt to break down the Christmas Day games — Joel Embiid vs. Kristaps Porzingis to open the day (if they can get healthy), then Cavaliers at Warriors, and on through the day until the Timberwolves face the Lakers at the end of the night.
Chris breaks down his Top 5 players in the NBA age 23 and under, and his list comes down to Joel Embiid vs. The Greek Freak. Then, Knicks guard Jarrett Jack joins the show to discuss why he doesn't like super teams, LeBron vs. MJ and a secret conversation that he had with Kevin Durant. Finally, Jason McIntyre is back to tell you why this is LeBron's most impressive season to date.
UCF congrats on undefeated season. Magical season, Great game today. David Lee has a funny story about Kobe putting 61 up on Knicks @MSG. More I read about Aaron Boone, I'm warming up on him.
Cowboys looked like dog doo today. Missing Zeke something fierce. Giants 170 yards of total offense. 2-9 just rolls off the tongue. Can't wait for the Iron Bowl this weekend.
Deshaun Watson what a start to a career. You will be missed. Mr. Porzingis you have been given the golden ticket in NYC. Jets 4-5 this year. Coach Bowles you have my respect.
KP has played 3 games as the Knicks' number one option. How does he look? The Knicks lost a stinker to the Celtics. Does it matter? Jeff Hornacek played Jarrett Jack 18 minutes on Tuesday.
