The main goal of the Society of Saint Pius X is to preserve the Catholic Faith in its fullness and purity, to teach its truths, and to diffuse its virtues, especially through the Roman Catholic priesthood. Authentic spiritual life, the sacraments, and the traditional liturgy are its primary means of bringing this life of grace to souls. Although the traditional Latin Mass is the most visible and public expression of the work of the Society, we are committed to defending Catholic Tradition in its entirety: all of Catholic doctrine and morals as the Church has always defended them. What people need is the Catholic Faith, without compromise, with all the truth and beauty which accompanies it. https://sspx.org

Chris Sallade teaches on Hannah from the book of 1 Samuel in a message entitled, "Our Eyes, God's Eyes: Avoiding Comparison Traps."1 Samuel 1There was a certain man of Ramathaim-zophim of the hill country of Ephraim whose name was Elkanah the son of Jeroham, son of Elihu, son of Tohu, son of Zuph, an Ephrathite. 2 He had two wives. The name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other, Peninnah. And Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.3 Now this man used to go up year by year from his city to worship and to sacrifice to the Lord of hosts at Shiloh, where the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were priests of the Lord. 4 On the day when Elkanah sacrificed, he would give portions to Peninnah his wife and to all her sons and daughters. 5 But to Hannah he gave a double portion, because he loved her, though the Lord had closed her womb. 6 And her rival used to provoke her grievously to irritate her, because the Lord had closed her womb. 7 So it went on year by year. As often as she went up to the house of the Lord, she used to provoke her. Therefore Hannah wept and would not eat. 8 And Elkanah, her husband, said to her, “Hannah, why do you weep? And why do you not eat? And why is your heart sad? Am I not more to you than ten sons?”9 After they had eaten and drunk in Shiloh, Hannah rose. Now Eli the priest was sitting on the seat beside the doorpost of the temple of the Lord. 10 She was deeply distressed and prayed to the Lord and wept bitterly. 11 And she vowed a vow and said, “O Lord of hosts, if you will indeed look on the affliction of your servant and remember me and not forget your servant, but will give to your servant a son, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and no razor shall touch his head.”12 As she continued praying before the Lord, Eli observed her mouth. 13 Hannah was speaking in her heart; only her lips moved, and her voice was not heard. Therefore Eli took her to be a drunken woman. 14 And Eli said to her, “How long will you go on being drunk? Put your wine away from you.” 15 But Hannah answered, “No, my lord, I am a woman troubled in spirit. I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but I have been pouring out my soul before the Lord. 16 Do not regard your servant as a worthless woman, for all along I have been speaking out of my great anxiety and vexation.” 17 Then Eli answered, “Go in peace, and the God of Israel grant your petition that you have made to him.” 18 And she said, “Let your servant find favor in your eyes.” Then the woman went her way and ate, and her face was no longer sad.19 They rose early in the morning and worshiped before the Lord; then they went back to their house at Ramah. And Elkanah knew Hannah his wife, and the Lord remembered her. 20 And in due time Hannah conceived and bore a son, and she called his name Samuel, for she said, “I have asked for him from the Lord.”

It is Marvelous in Our Eyes! "This is the Lord's doing; it is marvelous in our eyes." Psalm 118:23 Have you ever stood in amazement, witnessing the glory of an awe-inspiring sunrise, where the sky is painted with strokes of pink and gold? Just as each dawn unfolds its wonder, so too does God weave His marvels into the fabric of our lives. Take a moment to reflect on these divine displays—those precious instances where God's goodness has revealed itself to you. Consider the story of a pearl hidden within an oyster—a rough shell conceals something priceless inside. Sometimes, life burdens us with challenges that seem insurmountable. However, it's often through adversity that God showcases His transformative grace. If you're tempted to overlook your own journey's splendor, remember Matthew 21:42. Your trials can become pivotal points, turning into profound blessings shaped by His loving hands. Matthew 21:42 says, Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures: “'The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes'? Think about keeping a gratitude journal—jotting down those moments when you've felt His touch or seen His provision lighten your path. It doesn't have to be grandiose; sometimes, it's in quiet whispers or subtly opened doors. As Ephesians 3:20 affirms, God is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine. Documenting these encounters fortifies faith and offers encouragement during stormier seasons. And as you write these, let them be a testament like a lamp illuminating not just solitary steps but an entire journey enriched by His presence. Remember C.S. Lewis's words: “Isn't it funny how day by day nothing changes, but when you look back, everything is different?” Let reflection inspire praise and confidence that He will continue painting marvelous stories over every chapter of your life. Rejoice always for Christ's works are truly wondrous before our very eyes! Amen. Romans 8:31 says, "What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?" Prayer for the Day! Heavenly Father, thank You for the marvelous works You have done in my life. Help me to recognize Your hand at work, even in difficult situations. I trust that You can turn my challenges into opportunities for growth and beauty. May my heart be filled with awe as I witness Your greatness. In Jesus' name, Amen. https://maglife.org/ --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/pastor-divineo/support

Enemies Domestic, Book Six in the Lark Chadwick Mystery series: On her first day as White House Press Secretary, Lark Chadwick is confronted on live television by a reporter with an agenda: “Are you, or are you not, planning to abort your unborn child?” His question puts Lark in the crosshairs of extremists on both sides of the highly fraught abortion issue.  Thinking is the whole reason the “What I've Been Reading” segment exists on the podcast. In fact, it's why I read at all. It's gratifying to read things that confirm what you already were thinking, and that can be a worthwhile exercise. But usually the “thinking” to which I refer in this list is the tougher kind — getting outside my comfort zone and considering other possibilities. Sometimes I change my mind, sometimes I don't, and sometimes I just think I need to read another book. In any case, reading done right encourages you to think, and thinking is a good thing — as long as you don't think your way out of fearing God and keeping His commandments. Anyway, this list should give you a notion of what I've been thinking about so far in 2024. Let's get started. 10. Rethinking the Synoptic Problem, David Alan Black and David R. Beck, editors9. Rafiki Morris is my guest for this episode. Rafiki is Muralist/Artist, Writer, Poet, Lecturer Politics: Revolutionary Pan-Africanist and cadre and a Central Committee Member in the All African People's Revolutionary Party. Some of the Works and/or Novels written by Rafiki are “The Call of the Drum”; “The Giant and the Fire”; “Leaving Eden”; War: The Blood in Our Eyes. The subject we discuss is one within philosophical lines, namely: Consciencism, An African World View.  Rafiki takes a deep dive into Consciencism and the principles (egalitarianism, humanism, and collections) upon which this philosophy - coined by Kwame Nkrumah -  is embedded. He posits that "African people have always had some philosophy and the ethical principles of Consciencism, (egalitarianism, humanism, and collectivism) are traceable to the philosophical principles of early communal African life.” He adds that ‘more important is the recognition that Consciencism is not a complete system of thought. Consciencism cannot be completed because its dynamic nature is permanently engaged in the process of becoming.' Other concepts delineated in this record related to consciencism are African personality, dialectical materialism, amongst others. Consciencism is a fundamental ideology for decolonization and liberation of Africa. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/mpilo-nkambule/support

Holy Quran

At-Tur is the 52nd Surah of the Quran that has 49 verses and is in the 27th Juz. It is Makki and the 76th chapter revealed to the Holy Prophet (PBUH). In the first verse, God swears by At-Tur (Mount Sinai), and hence the name of the Surah. Mount Sinai is a holy place that is in Palestine. Prophet Moses (AS) talked to God and received the revelation in that mountain. The name At-Tur is mentioned ten time in the Quran. According to Al-Mizan Exegesis of the Quran, the main theme of Surah At-Tur is warning those who show enmity to the truth. It cautions disbelievers about the divine punishment that awaits them on the Resurrection Day, stressing that the punishment is certain. In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful. 1. By the Mount. 2. And a Book inscribed. 3. In a published scroll. 4. And the frequented House. 5. And the elevated roof. 6. And the seething sea. 7. The punishment of your Lord is coming. 8. There is nothing to avert it. 9. On the Day when the heaven sways in agitation. 10. And the mountains go into motion. 11. Woe on that Day to the deniers. 12. Those who play with speculation. 13. The Day when they are shoved into the Fire of Hell forcefully. 14. “This is the Fire which you used to deny. 15. Is this magic, or do you not see? 16. Burn in it. Whether you are patient, or impatient, it is the same for you. You are only being repaid for what you used to do.” 17. But the righteous will be amid gardens and bliss. 18. Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord has spared them the suffering of Hell. 19. Eat and drink happily, for what you used to do. 20. Relaxing on luxurious furnishings; and We will couple them with gorgeous spouses. 21. Those who believed, and their offspring followed them in faith—We will unite them with their offspring, and We will not deprive them of any of their works. Every person is hostage to what he has earned. 22. And We will supply them with fruit, and meat; such as they desire. 23. They will exchange therein a cup; wherein is neither harm, nor sin. 24. Serving them will be youths like hidden pearls. 25. And they will approach one another, inquiring. 26. They will say, “Before this, we were fearful for our families. 27. But God blessed us, and spared us the agony of the Fiery Winds. 28. Before this, we used to pray to Him. He is the Good, the Compassionate.” 29. So remind. By the grace of your Lord, you are neither a soothsayer, nor a madman. 30. Or do they say, “A poet—we await for him a calamity of time”? 31. Say, “Go on waiting; I will be waiting with you.” 32. Or is it that their dreams compel them to this? Or are they aggressive people? 33. Or do they say, “He made it up”? Rather, they do not believe. 34. So let them produce a discourse like it, if they are truthful 35. Or were they created out of nothing? Or are they the creators? 36. Or did they create the heavens and the earth? In fact, they are not certain 37. Or do they possess the treasuries of your Lord? Or are they the controllers? 38. Or do they have a stairway by means of which they listen? Then let their listener produce a clear proof 39. Or for Him the daughters, and for you the sons? 40. Or do you demand a payment from them, and they are burdened by debt? 41. Or do they know the future, and they are writing it down? 42. Or are they planning a conspiracy? The conspiracy will befall the disbelievers 43. Or do they have a god besides God? God transcends what they associate 44. Even if they were to see lumps of the sky falling down, they would say, “A mass of clouds. 45. So leave them until they meet their Day in which they will be stunned 46. The Day when their ploys will avail them nothing; and they will not be helped 47. For those who do wrong, there is a punishment besides that; but most of them do not know 48. So patiently await the decision of your Lord, for you are before Our Eyes; and proclaim the praises of your Lord when you arise 49. And glorify Him during the night, and at the receding of the stars

He is the author of The Case Against Reality: Why Evolution Hid the Truth from Our Eyes. In this episode, we focus on The Case Against Reality, and the interface theory of perception. We start by discussing the interface theory of perception, shape as an effective code for fitness, different ways of perceiving “reality”, and what is “real”. We address scientific and philosophical objections to the theory, and epistemological approaches that might differ from empirical science. We talk about simulated realities, and discuss if they are really different from what we normally perceive. We talk about the use of psychedelics; and spirits, ghosts, and gods as experiences. We ask if “truth-seeing” organisms could evolve, and if we could ever perceive objective reality. Finally, we talk about breaking the tension between science and spiritual and religious traditions. -- A HUGE THANK YOU TO MY PATRONS/SUPPORTERS: PER HELGE LARSEN, JERRY MULLER, HANS FREDRIK SUNDE, BERNARDO SEIXAS, OLAF ALEX, JONATHAN VISSER, ADAM KESSEL, MATTHEW WHITINGBIRD, ARNAUD WOLFF, TIM HOLLOSY, HENRIK AHLENIUS, JOHN CONNORS, FILIP FORS CONNOLLY, DAN DEMETRIOU, ROBERT WINDHAGER, RUI INACIO, ZOOP, MARCO NEVES, COLIN HOLBROOK, SIMON COLUMBUS, PHIL KAVANAGH, MIKKEL STORMYR, SAMUEL ANDREEFF, FRANCIS FORDE, TIAGO NUNES, ALEXANDER DANNBAUER, FERGAL CUSSEN, HAL HERZOG, NUNO MACHADO, JONATHAN LEIBRANT, JOÃO LINHARES, STANTON T, SAMUEL CORREA, ERIK HAINES, MARK SMITH, JOÃO EIRA, TOM HUMMEL, SARDUS FRANCE, DAVID SLOAN WILSON, YACILA DEZA-ARAUJO, ROMAIN ROCH, DIEGO LONDOÑO CORREA, YANICK PUNTER, ADANER USMANI, CHARLOTTE BLEASE, NICOLE BARBARO, ADAM HUNT, PAWEL OSTASZEWSKI, NELLEKE BAK, GUY MADISON, GARY G HELLMANN, SAIMA AFZAL, ADRIAN JAEGGI, NICK GOLDEN, PAULO TOLENTINO, JOÃO BARBOSA, JULIAN PRICE, EDWARD HALL, HEDIN BRØNNER, DOUGLAS FRY, FRANCA BORTOLOTTI, GABRIEL PONS CORTÈS, URSULA LITZCKE, SCOTT, ZACHARY FISH, TIM DUFFY, SUNNY SMITH, JON WISMAN, MORTEN EIKELAND, DR BYRD, DANIEL FRIEDMAN, WILLIAM BUCKNER, MAU MARIA, PAUL-GEORGE ARNAUD, LUKE GLOWACKI, GEORGIOS THEOPHANOUS, CHRIS WILLIAMSON, PETER WOLOSZYN, DAVID WILLIAMS, ROOFTOWEL, DIOGO COSTA, ANTON ERIKSSON, CHARLES MOREY, ALEX CHAU, AMAURI MARTÍNEZ, CORALIE CHEVALLIER, PEDRO BONILLA, BANGALORE ATHEISTS, LARRY D. What is the true nature of reality? Does the objective reality reported back by our senses paint a complete picture of the true reality? Is it possible that the world we see is not objective reality and it is just an interface to a deeper, true reality. In his book “The Case Against Reality: Why Evolution Hid the Truth from Our Eyes” cognitive scientist Donald Hoffman Challenges leading scientific theories that claim that our senses report back objective reality. He argues that while we should take our perceptions seriously, we should not take them literally. He presents the evolutionary concept of "Fitness Beats Truth" to demonstrate that evolution very probably moulded our minds for fitness rather than accuracy, resulting in the mismatch between "things-in-themselves" and our perceptions of them. In this episode of Bridging the Gaps I speak with professor Donal Hoffman; we discuss his “Interface Theory of Perception” and dig deep on latest research in cognitive science and perception, and how it relates to our understanding of the true nature of reality. Donald Hoffman is a professor of Cognitive Sciences at the University of California, Irvine. He is a cognitive psychologist and popular science author. His research focuses on perception, evolution, and consciousness. We begin by discussing the present understanding of the hard problem of consciousness. Then we talk about Hoffman's view that all main scientific theories, such as Einstein's theory, theories and our present understanding of Quantum Physics and the theory of natural selection, all inform us that our present approach of trying to understand reality is not working. I then ask him that why in his view we have evolved in a manner that we don't see the real underlying reality and we just perceive a superficial realty. We then discuss in detail his theory and ideas about the nature of reality. We touch upon the question that do we live in a simulation. We also discuss Panpsychism. Finally I ask that how the research on the question of the true nature of reality should proceed. Complement this discussion with “From Consciousness to Synthetic Consciousness: From One Unknown to Another Unknown with David Chalmers” available at: https://www.bridgingthegaps.ie/2015/03/from-consciousness-to-synthetic-consciousness-from-one-unknown-to-another-unknown-with-david-chalmers/ And then listen to “Why You Are Not Your Brain?
