It was an absolute pleasure to chat with Australian Idol Grand Finalist Gisella Colletti and her father Luke. Gisella is incredibly talented with an impressive vocal range and a powerful stage presence. We loved hearing Gisella tell us about her journey with Australian Idol, including having Marcia Hines surprise her at her house and performing with fellow Italian Australian, Tina Arena. It was easy to see that the Colletti family is very close knit and value their Italian Australian Identity. Luke and Gisella recounted their 2023 trip to Italy and we discussed the special experience of visiting your ancestral areas in Italy. Gisella is the next generation of Italian Australians and we are so proud of her and the others like her who stay connected to their culture and acknowledge the sacrifices of those who immigrated.

Hi Guys welcome back to TV Reload. Thank for clicking or downloading on todays episode with Scott Tweedie one of the hosts from this years Australian Idol on Channel Seven. Twenty years after Guy Sebastian pipped Shannon Noll to become Australia's first Idol, the international star-making reality TV sensation has returns to Seven and 7 Plus and if you aren't watching you are missing out on some sensational television. Set to be the toughest season yet, with only room for the best of the best, the judges are looking for the complete package: a singer with the sound and style to woo the nation. Hosts Ricki-Lee and Scott Tweedie are back to help make dreams come true and I am delighted to be back talking to him today, We will unpack why this season is better, why Scott slid into Amy Shark's DM'S. We will discuss what Jackie O and Marcia Hines have in common. Scott will share which singer has had millions of views on social media already and what to expect in the coming weeks. Plus a little behind the scenes gossip on why some contestants failed to make it to the next stage. There is so much to unpack with Scott and he is really generous with his time. So sit back and relax as we dive just that little bit deeper into the world of Australian Idol.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Thank for clicking or downloading on today's episode with Marcia Hines. We will be talking about her fabulous return to Australian Idol last night Having taken a break for well over a decade Channel Seven has reimagined the old format and brought the nostalgia back for all those that grew up with Idol as their first singing based reality show. Idol originated from the reality program Pop Idol, which was created by British entertainment executive Simon Fuller. Which has given us artists like Guy Sebastian, Rob Mills, Courtney Act and Pauline. Just to name a couple of my favourites. No matter what you heard about last years soft reboot of the show. I guarantee if you check out episode one you will be addicted. Marcia Hines returning has brought experience and insight to the 2024 panel. That rounds out the right balance of judges improving drastically from last years miss step with Harry Coinnick Jr and Megan Trainor. This years promising young vocalists will also sing in from of Kyle Sandilands and Amy Shark who have really found their feet when it comes to giving critics on the contestants. There is so much to unpack with Marcia, from how the opportunity came up to return? Who out of the former judges (Mark holden and Ian 'Dicko' Dickson) she still speaks too. Plus how the show has changed and why some conflict is important. I will ask about her relationship with Kyle Sandilands and why competition based reality shows have thrown our their tired stereotype's when it comes to judging. Anyway, let's bring Marcia into the podcast, so sit back and relax as we dive just that little bit deeper into the world of Australian television. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

It wasn't a given that Deni Hines would pursue a career a music. Despite her mother, Marcia Hines, being one of the most recognisable pop stars in Australia, Deni had other interests and suffered from performance anxiety in her younger years. But her vocal talent soon got her snapped up as a backing singer for artists like Wa Wa Nee, Peter Blakeley and Kylie Minogue. It was her voice that also saw her hired as the latest frontperson for funk/dance band Rockmelons. In a frank and unflinching interview, Deni shares exactly what she thought of their collaboration and the hits that ensued. She also recalls guesting on "Not Enough Time" by INXS and what Michael Hutchence was like to work with in the studio. Then, after a solo deal in the US fell apart for reasons beyond her control, Deni landed at Mushroom Records and scored a top 5 hit with "It's Alright". She describes the process of putting together her debut album, Imagination, in London and follow-up singles like "I'm Not In Love" and "Delicious", a duet with Don-E that was added to the UK version of the album (retitled Pay Attention). When her time at Mushroom came to an end — following early 2000s single "Frenzy" — Deni went independent, and she talks about her various projects over the past couple of decades, including Water For Chocolate, The Soul Sessions and her upcoming album, due in 2024.Bonus material at chartbeats.com.au/aussieTwitter: @ChartBeatsAU, @TurnAroundOnJoyInstagram: @chartbeatsau, @joyturnbeataroundEmail: chartbeats.au@gmail.com

Welcome! My guest today is Melbourne songstress, songwriter + vocal coach Mezz Coleman, mum of 2 children, aged 16 and 11.Mezz grew up with music all around her. Her parents took a leap of faith and began a music therapy business, her siblings played as did her friends. It was so normal to see people make a living from music. Having been immersed in it from a young age, it was quite organic that Mezz would spend her life making music. She began playing the piano from a young age, dabbled in the flute and guitar. Straight out of high school Mezz went to Uni to study a jazz improv course. Her son was born in her final year of Uni, so Mezz has never experienced her music career without having children.Mezz has released 3 studio albums, Parts of You, Parts of Me in 2010, Words in 2015 and a Christmas Album in 2015. Mezz is currently recording her third studio album, a chamber indie-pop record, produced by Rohan Sforcina (Oh Mercy, Kate Miller Heidke, Ali Barter, Ferla)Adored by folk festival audiences around the country and celebrated as “a musical treasure” (Bendigo Blues & Roots Festival), Mezz has a unique ability to conjure worlds, transporting audiences with her powerful vocals and straight-to-the-heart lyrics. Her career has seen her appear on national television on Carols by Candlelight, and open for the likes of Kimbra, multi-award-winning songwriter Sara Storer and iconic Australian artist Shane Howard (Goanna). When she's not performing her own material, Mezz's experience as a backing vocalist and session vocalist, has given her the opportunity to work with many international and national artists including Nana Mouskouri, Brian McFadden, Marcia Hines, Delta Goodrem, Barry Humphries, John Foreman and the Melbourne Gospel Choir. In 2021 Mezz toured as backing vocalist and keyboard player for The Marrollo Project's “Uninvited: The Songs of Alanis Morissette” .Mezz website / music / linktreePodcast - instagram / websiteMusic heard on todays podcast is from Mezz, used with permissionWhen chatting to my guests I greatly appreciate their openness and honestly in sharing their stories.
