He's one of Em's closest friends and he's back to talk us through his upcoming tour ‘Rob Mills Performs the Songs of Bon Jovi', celebrating 40 years of Bon Jovi. The fact that it just happens to be on at exactly the same time as Em's Outgrown tour needs discussion, so does the fact that when Rob told Em he was doing this tour, her response was “WHY?”. There's also chat around Rob's need for Em to take him clothes shopping, his new moustache, whether he will be revealing his hairless bod on stage and the damage ‘Wicked' has taken on his leg hair. We also dive into comparing both of their shows, what is the Bon Jovi setlist Rob will perform on tour and why Rob needs to update his website address. Plus we talk airline nightmares, how Em played a key role in Rob auditioning for ‘& Juliet' after he expressed zero interest in being a part of it and how much he misses it now that it has wrapped up. Finally promises are made to Em that Rob and his girlfriend Georgie aren't planning on eloping when they head off overseas later this year. Get tickets and more details at robmills.net.au. Thank for clicking or downloading on today's episode with Marcia Hines. We will be talking about her fabulous return to Australian Idol last night Having taken a break for well over a decade Channel Seven has reimagined the old format and brought the nostalgia back for all those that grew up with Idol as their first singing based reality show. Idol originated from the reality program Pop Idol, which was created by British entertainment executive Simon Fuller. Which has given us artists like Guy Sebastian, Rob Mills, Courtney Act and Pauline. Just to name a couple of my favourites. No matter what you heard about last years soft reboot of the show. I guarantee if you check out episode one you will be addicted. Marcia Hines returning has brought experience and insight to the 2024 panel. That rounds out the right balance of judges improving drastically from last years miss step with Harry Coinnick Jr and Megan Trainor. This years promising young vocalists will also sing in from of Kyle Sandilands and Amy Shark who have really found their feet when it comes to giving critics on the contestants. There is so much to unpack with Marcia, from how the opportunity came up to return? Who out of the former judges (Mark holden and Ian 'Dicko' Dickson) she still speaks too. Plus how the show has changed and why some conflict is important. I will ask about her relationship with Kyle Sandilands and why competition based reality shows have thrown our their tired stereotype's when it comes to judging. Anyway, let's bring Marcia into the podcast, so sit back and relax as we dive just that little bit deeper into the world of Australian television. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Rob Mills is no stranger to putting on a show. From Australian Idol and The Singing Bee to Dancing With The Stars, Celebrity Apprentice and 5 years on Neighbours, to name a few... Australia just can't get enough of Millsy sprawled across our TV screens. In the world of musical theatre Millsy has starred in Grease, Hairspray, Legally Blonde, Wicked and lo and behold not only did he play Sam in Ghost, but Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar... Talk about big shoes to fill. Sticking with the theme of putting on a show (the name of his recently released book on manhood, mates and mental health) we talk about all things stepping on stage vs the performance we tend to fall into putting on in our everyday lives. The versions of blokeyness and what it's like for blokes in today's world to navigate what it means to be a man, where to find role models and how can we continue to open up the conversations with and for men to better connect and create social change towards better mental health and better communities. Can you have sex with someone of the same gender and not have it define your life or even your sexuality? Rob 'Millsy' Mills thinks you can. Rob came out about having a threesome with Shane Jenek (aka Courtney Act) to normalise the conversation about sexual fluidity among men. Sean speaks with Rob about growing up with speculation over his sexuality simply because he was in the performing arts, why he decided to share the story about Courtney, how he told his partner about it, and what kind of future he wants for men exploring their sexuality. On the show today… Kim Kardashian's new podcast The System is out in the world and it's already tracking above the likes of Joe Rogan and Meghan Markle. Here's everything you need to know about the launch of her new true crime offering. And our favourite Australia Idol star (yes, we said it) Rob Mills has released a new memoir called Putting On A Show. One excerpt from the book, which tells a story about Courtney Act, a mystery woman and an “orgy”, is already making headlines. So let's get to the bottom of this story as it is an important part of Australia's history. Plus, Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde's former nanny has taken part in a tell-all interview about her time working for the former couple and included screenshots of their text message exchanges. She has made a number of accusations against Olivia and Jason, which they have denied via a joint statement. So now we need to unpack what's been said, the timing of these allegations and why it's only a small part of the story. It's been a pretty busy time lately, but in the days I was in Melbourne, I was so lucky to catch the legendary Rob Mills to record an episode in celebration of his brand new book, Putting on a Show!!! I only got my advance copy 24 hours beforehand and thought I'd give it a quick once over to prepare then go back to read it in more detail afterwards, but I could. not. put. it. down!!! It's such a fabulous (and much needed) exploration of the average Aussie bloke, our shifting and sometimes distorted perceptions of masculinity with Rob's beautiful knack for storytelling and personal anecdotes weaved throughout. There's a reason this man has been so successful in showbiz – he is warm, witty, vulnerable, honest, and open minded all of which comes through in the book. I'll let him tell you more about it himself, but we also get to cover the parts of his pathYAY that you might not have heard as much about between the Australian Idol and Paris Hilton related headlines. You know I love getting into all the chapters we know much less about, and Rob was very obliging and a joy to listen to. I also definitely did that thing where I want to cover SO MUCH all at once – perhaps I shouldn't have read the book in quite so much detail beforehand – so, I probably jump about a bit crazily but hopefully you enjoy nonetheless. CW: Just a quick content warning we do touch on mental health and suicide briefly so listener discretion is advised.
