In the 1980s, a moral panic swept across America. Parents, prosecutors, and talk show hosts became convinced that devil worshippers were hiding in plain sight, abusing children at daycares, performing ritualistic sacrifices, and corrupting the innocent. Sarah Marshall of You're Wrong About has a new podcast about this period of Satanic Panic called  The Devil You Know. She talks to Ben and Amory about the cultural forces that turned unfounded fears into a nationwide hysteria, and how would the Satanic Panic might have unfolded differently in today's  age of social media. Credits: This episode was produced by Amory Sivertson with assistance from Grace Tatter. It was co-hosted by Ben Brock Johnson and Amory Sivertson, and edited by Meg Cramer. Mix and sound design by Paul Vaitkus.

SO MUCH TO DISCUSS!! Mixologist fave, Kendrick Tucker, Host of I Ken Not Podcast, is back in the mix to talk about all the pop culture goings ons of the week from Grammy awards to Housewives returns from Jail to fake murders and real betrayals in killer outfits.First, the Grammys came and went…shirtless in silk boxers. Kendrick and Mani talk the hits and many misses of the grammy performances. Spoiler: they differ about the shirtless Yukon situation. Also the sit down with Karen Huger and Andy Cohen also came and went after the (former) Grand Dame has exited prison and entered life time recovery…Last, but of course, The Traitors banquet also came and went with a murder to be done in plain sight by a traitor, and a bromance in full bloom that nobody asked for. Mani and Kendrick figure out what Rob is doing, where the Traitors are headed, and give some VERY hot takes about the faithfuls left and who would make good traitors in the future. This episode was bonkers and exposed some low bars and disappointments but, as always, much too discuss. Get in the Mix with us!**Like being in The Mix with Mani? Leave a review/rating! EPISODE 28: WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE DIE | Hospice Nurse Julie McFadden Dying Laughing  with Jessimae Palliative care and hospice nurse Julie McFadden joins Dying Laughing for a calm, honest conversation about death, dying, and what actually matters at the end of life. Jess and Julie break down the real difference between palliative care and hospice, the biggest misconceptions around both, and why a comfortable death is often tied to privilege, access, and timing. They discuss what dying usually looks like in real life, how families can unintentionally make things harder, and what actually helps loved ones die with more dignity and grace. They also explore why death itself is often less scary than we imagine and close with a thoughtful reflection on what may happen to us on a spiritual level when we die. This episode is meant to reduce fear, offer clarity, and help listeners feel more prepared, not just for death, but for living.

Federal agents have descended on Minneapolis in the U.S., and things have gotten chaotic — and deadly. The Trump administration says the agents are there to enforce immigration law, but officers have shot three people so far, killing two, and are using tear gas and smoke on protesters. So today, we're looking at the potential health impacts of tear gas. We'll talk about what we do — and don't — know about potential long-term effects of this stuff. And we're also looking into research on the mental health effects of immigration raids. We speak to Dr. Jennifer Brown, Dr. Carlee Toddes, and Dr. William Lopez. EPISODE 27: THE ANGER STAGE OF GRIEF EXPLAINED Dying Laughing with Jessimae  Anger gets a bad reputation, but it's usually trying to tell you something. In this episode, I dig into the anger stage of grief and why anger is rarely about what we think it's about. We talk about how anger often comes from older, unprocessed pain, how it shows up as control, resentment, or “making deals with the universe,” and why ignoring it usually makes everything worse. I also break down famous angry pop culture characters, why we relate to them, and what they reveal about how society handles rage. Plus, I read listener submissions about the things that make them the most angry, from the deeply personal to the hilariously unhinged. This episode is honest, funny, and uncomfortable in the best way, because anger isn't the problem. Avoiding it is.
