Da Binge Bois return to talk about Demon Slayer season 3 and give our thoughts on how the journey is unfolding thus far. All of Da Bois agree that for some reason the season feels as though it is dragging on and feels as though nothing of consequence has really occurred so far. The Tanjiro hate continues for another season as we admit he can't get anything done without a Hashira super team. Muichiro has his origin story revealing a tragic past and brother who died, but how many times can the series use flashbacks before it gets obnoxious instead of touching? IDK find out this review or reaction thing. Series Synopsis: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge. “Starting now, things are gonna get real flashy!” The premiere of the Swordsmith Village Arc is just two days away – on April 9th – and we're finishing out our reviews of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, ufotable's extraordinary anime adaptation of Kyoharu Gotouge's hit manga, with a look at the show's singular second season. Fresh off the unprecedented success of the Mugen Train film, Season 2 is shaped unlike just about any other anime season out there: An original episode with fan favorite Kyojuro Rengoku, then a 6-episode TV edit of Mugen Train complete with a new theme song and end credits, and finally an all new 11-episode adaptation of the manga's Entertainment District Arc, featuring a double-length premiere and a 1.5x length finale. It's all fantastic, of course, particularly the new material of the Entertainment District Arc, the point in the manga where Gotouge's sense of staging action really comes into focus, giving ufotable more than enough to craft some of the most incredible images ever aired on television. With sound hashira Tengen Uzui, his three wives, and an upper-rank demon split across two separate bodies along for the ride, the Entertainment District Arc is an edge-of-your-seat adventure, and more than worthy of another look ahead of Season 3. We will be back to review the entire Swordsmith Village arc when it finishes airing this summer, and be sure to continue listening to Japanimation Station Season 2 – ufotable/Moon Works – premiering every Tuesday night at 7pm CT on YouTube! Taking one of the shorter arcs of the manga and crafting it into a well-rounded, hard-hitting, tragic film adventure, Mugen Train features some of ufotable's finest animation to date, boasts a killer score by Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina, and turned Kyujuro Rengoku into a worldwide anime icon. This is just about as good as it gets. Come back next Friday for our last Demon Slayer review before Season 3, with our thoughts on Season 2's Entertainment District Arc! In 2001, Spirited Away became the highest-grossing Japanese film of all time. Twenty years later, in the midst of the pandemic, another Japanese release emerged and toppled Spirited Away's box office record. This film wasn't a critical darling or the work of an esteemed auteur. It wasn't even a standalone film. It was a transitional installment of the anime series Demon Slayer (2019–), fitting right between seasons one and two. This 1-hour and 57-minute bridge story made more than 500 million dollars worldwide. The film's American success is almost entirely due to the popularity of season one, streamed on Netflix at the height of the pandemic. In 2001, Spirited Away made $13.7 million in the US. In 2021, Mugen Train made $49.5 million stateside. 20 ago anime was still a niche interest for a small set of avid American fans. Now it is pervasive. Many people in older generations may not realize exactly how popular anime is with younger viewers, but, it is very popular. When students are asked what their favorite films are. Often they can't think of one, but ask, “Can I tell you what my favorite anime is?” While American animation tends to target children, anime is often unexpectedly (and sometimes distressingly) adult to Western eyes. It also draws on vibrant narrative art (manga), which provides a depth of worldbuilding and storytelling often unavailable to Western animation. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba began as a popular manga in 2016. It tells the story of Tanjiro Kamado, a humble woodsman, who provides for his fatherless family by selling charcoal down the mountain in the local village. In the first episode, he returns to find his family killed by a demon. The only survivor of the attack is his sister Nezuko who has been transformed into a demon with a thirst for blood. Rather than killing Nezuko, Tanjiro tames his sister through his hopeful compassion for her, and resolves to find a way to restore her humanity. The series follows Tanjiro as he trains as a demon slayer and seeks a cure for Nezuko. The eponymous monsters of Demon Slayer bear little resemblance to the evil spirits of Christian theology. They are more like the oni of Japanese folklore, wicked or dangerous creatures haunted by the pains of the former human lives. This Postmodern Realities episode is a conversation with JOURNAL author Phil Tallon about his online-exclusive article, “Slaying and Redeeming Demons: Understanding the Anime Film Demon Slayer”. https://www.equip.org/articles/slaying-and-redeeming-demons-understanding-the-anime-film-demon-slayer/Locked articles are online exclusive content that are only available to subscribers. Holy Heck what an episode guys! This might have been an episode on par with AOT's 4th Season, part-one episode 8 if you catch our drift— "nudge nudge". So much happens in this episode it's hard to accumulate everything in this summary and not leave anything out but, we'll try. We pick up right where we left off inside Himeno's bedroom with Denji and Himeno about to have some sexy time, but all of that gets halted by Denji's feelings and instead of bumping uglies they bump fists in a friendship pact to hook each other up with their crushes. Cut to a non-stop whirlwind of action in a train scene much shorter and bloodier than Mugen Train. A massive amount of gun-fu leads to us meeting the Katana Devil and Snake Devil in an out battle on par with Jujutsu Kaisen, and some of our most loved characters up until this point seemingly disappearing out of thin air. But mostly Dan just talked about how sad this episode made him. https://www.linktr.ee/otakuhostclub --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Move over One Piece, anime has a new GOAT on the block...maybe.With its stellar second season in the books and the crown of highest grossing anime films firmly atop its head, Demon Slayer has proven itself to be an absolute FORCE in the anime scene since its debut in April of 2019 and at this point its obvious there's more substance than hype with this one. So what makes this anime so wildly popular? The boys of NICE Entertainment are back in this week's BEAM Me Up podcast to figure out why Demon Slayer is so good. Is it just the animation? The writing? The cool powers? What do Tanjiro and company do that has them on the path to anime's Mount Rushmore? Also, where does Demon Slayer rank among anime out now? How will things look when it's all said and done? Thoughts on Nezuko's new transformation? All that and more on he BEAM Me Up podcast!Join the conversation: Find us on social media (linktr.ee/niceentgroup) and let us know what you think of Demon Slayer!
The train is finally leaving the station on today's episode of Anime Was (Not) A Mistake. Originally released in 2020, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Movie: Mugen Train gave the world some much-needed anime goodness and set multiple box office records. The film focuses on Tanjiro and his friends joining Kyojuro Rengoku, the Flame Hashira, to investigate the strange disappearances that have been happening on the Mugen Train. The Demon Slayers are given a one-way ticket into their dreams courtesy of the villainous Enmu. As the only remaining Lower Rank demon of the Twelve Kizuki, Enmu is determined to consume everyone on board in order to grow stronger. Our heroes must find a way to come back to reality and stop Enmu dead in his tracks. But even if they succeed, a much darker threat is looming just over the horizon... Look - if you get to know me through our streams or the #anime channel on our Discord, it won't take long to learn that I'm not the biggest Shonen fan. I grew up on the likes of DBZ, Bleach, One Piece, and Naruto and I've just read and watched too many of them at this point. Demon Slayer is one that continues to put me on the fence. With perhaps the most boring first season I've ever experienced, Demon Slayer has considerably upped the pace for season 2 and the transitional arc of Mugen Train. The latter of which we'll be tackling in this video. Ace - I mean, Kyojuro Rengoku is a fascinating character and is definitely more than just a big brother character. The spoilers that happen during the Mugen Train film and series tell a familiar story to some of the concepts of sacrifice that Jesus presented during his ministry on earth. So for this one - let's take a look at the flame hashira and see if he can teach us about more than tasty food. Let's talk about it.
