Disney's The Love Bug wasn't just a hit movie—it created one of the most recognizable automotive stars in entertainment history. Long before KITT, the General Lee, or Lightning McQueen, a little Volkswagen Beetle named Herbie captured audiences with personality, charm, and a racing spirit that made generations of car enthusiasts believe their own vehicles might have a soul. In this episode, Rob, Corn Dog, and Bernie revisit the original 1969 classic that launched an entire franchise. From Dean Jones' role as struggling racer Jim Douglas to the villainous Peter Thorndyke and the practical effects that brought Herbie to life, the crew explores what made this Disney film such a phenomenon. They also discuss the movie's racing action, behind-the-scenes movie magic, and why Herbie remains one of the most beloved automotive characters ever created. The Love Bug was a massive box office success, earning more than ten times its production budget and becoming the second-highest-grossing film of 1969. Nearly sixty years later, it still holds up as a fun, family-friendly movie that combines racing, comedy, and heart in a way few automotive films ever have. Join the guys as they celebrate the movie that started it all and revisit one of the greatest car stars ever put on the silver screen. The post K&F Show #369: The Love Bug Movie Review // The Car That Started It All first appeared on The Muscle Car Place.

The Knicks won the NBA Championship, and Chaz and AJ had a big problem with the team montage. Plus, the NBA commissioner is probably an alien. The Rizzuto Show accidentally becomes the FBI of lunch when Rafe embarks on a highly scientific sandwich reconnaissance mission that quickly spirals into one of the greatest culinary betrayals of modern history. After yesterday's LeGrand's sandwich feast, questions remained. Important questions. Questions like: Who ate the last sandwich? Why did Rafe immediately end up at Penn Station? And most importantly, why was every sandwich somehow loaded with onions despite specifically trying to avoid onions? This episode begins with a completely normal discussion about Letterkenny Live coming to town before veering directly into a full-blown sandwich investigation. Rafe reports back from his undercover visit to Penn Station, where he encountered slippery floors, mysterious customers, questionable air conditioning, suspicious fries, and enough onions to launch an international incident. Moon defends his beloved Penn Station while everyone else attempts to determine whether the establishment is a restaurant, a social experiment, or a front for something far stranger. As the evidence piles up, the crew debates bread quality, sandwich chain rankings, air fryers, and whether Jimmy John's bread should be classified as food, flotation device, or building material. Then it's time for Crap on Celebrities, featuring Green Day's upcoming movie New Year's Rev, Christopher Nolan movie rankings, the ongoing Beckham family feud, Home Improvement reboot rumors, and a look at the upcoming Social Network sequel starring Jeremy Strong as Mark Zuckerberg. The chaos continues when the gang dives into a debate over the greatest TV and movie vehicles of the 1980s. The General Lee, Ecto-1, KITT, the Family Truckster, Christine, Ferris Bueller's Ferrari, and more all enter the conversation as Moon somehow finds a way to turn the segment into a masterclass on obscure movie cars nobody else remembers.Along the way you'll also hear:Letterkenny Live excitementBret Michaels coming to townThe world's saddest Penn Station dining roomThe mystery of the fake-bearded customerWhy fries belong in cupsChristopher Nolan argumentsProperty Brothers confusionDavid Beckham's Hollywood honorThe Skarsgård family group chatWeirdly passionate bread discussionsClassic movie car nostalgiaAnd enough sarcasm to power an entire cityIf you're looking for a daily comedy show packed with ridiculous stories, pop culture commentary, food reviews gone wrong, celebrity gossip, and absolutely unnecessary debates about sandwich bread, you've come to the right place. This daily comedy show proves once again that no topic is too small to become a full-blown argument. The Great Work by Sheldon Costa is a debut novel, and it was also Ian's pick for the month of May. The novel follows a man named Gentle Montgomery who is a self styled alchemist living in the American west just before Washington became a state. A salamander or dragon has been seen in the countryside and is driving animals to act strange, causing hallucinations, and water to go bad. Gentle also believes this salamander has killed his friend Liam, and so he sets off with Liam's body, his nephew, Kitt, and their donkey, Abe, in search of the salamander. Gentle believes this creature to be "prima material" which can be used to complete The Great Work and create the Philosophers Stone which can then resurrect Liam. Along the way the encounter a frontier warlord, a town of progressives called the Harmonites, and many other strange things. This novel has a very original plot and we enjoyed reading and discussing it! Next month's pick is Ronnie's, and she choose: Icarus by K. Ancrum.

SEASON 4 EPISODE 84: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (3:00) SPECIAL COMMENT: Back from a week off just in time to put the podcast on health hiatus...details within today's supersized edition. Plus, befitting the time off, some meta pictures on how Democrats should plan for what they want this country to look like on its 300th anniversary, if it lasts that long. Will we have jailed Trump and gotten back the money he took? Undone his damage? Eliminated the anachronistic idea that Wyoming should have as many senators as California? Let the Supreme Court continue to lie, cheat and steal the democracy from under us? As John Candy said in "Splash": Think big, be big, my friend. MORE IMMEDIATELY: Whaddya mean the Governor of Virginia hasn't been BRIEFED on the way to overturn her state's Supreme Court's usurpation of redistricting? Why the hell not Hakeem Jeffries? Anybody notice Trump is simply rotating the same three lies about Iran? Why are only independent journalists like Garrett Graff still covering the WHCD non-shooting when the New York Times is doing 31 paragraphs on the future of the dinner like anybody gave a crap? AND MOST IMPORTANTLY: stop saying Trump is painting everything GOLD. That color is not GOLD. It is the color of WEE WEE. Say it. Use the clinical terms, use the gutter terms. The gutter terms define this idiot president. Stop saying gold when you mean whizzzzzzzzzzzzzz. B-Block (56:00) ON THE PASSING OF TED TURNER: Hard to believe few of the obituaries mentioned how he also invented 7-day-a-week sports on national television. Or how Jane Fonda kept him from destroying himself in, like, 1982. One particularly harrowing saga had him telling the lowest ranking staffer at CNN's Washington Bureau which way, when he finally decided he'd do it, he'd do it. And this is said with admiration and affection for the man who created the place where I and so many of the figures of the last 45 years began our TV careers. C-Block (1:30:00) ALL TED ALL THE TIME: I was holding back until I was certain I wouldn't jinx him. My beloved first rescue dog, Ted, was up against it last fall. I took him to the University of Florida for life-saving open heart surgery and boy, did they! Eight hours on the table, eight hours of SICU, all for an eight pound dog and now - he's not even on any medications! It's a long story and I would insist it's worth hearing it. And if you have a dog (or know of one) moving from Mitral Valve Disease to Heart Failure, maybe this will provide you with hope - and an option.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Meet Levi — a college professor turned AI developer who spent years building his own real-life Knight Rider replica, and then made KITT actually talk back. His system, AlphaTech AI, uses cameras, facial recognition, GPS, and voice AI to create a fully conversational in-car experience inspired by the show we all grew up watching. The best part? It's available right now for any Knight Rider replica builder who wants to bring KITT to life in their own car. David Kitt released The Big Romance (KIttser's Version) on April 8 via All City's Alchival label. The original record, which has featured in a number of ‘greatest Irish albums' lists, marks its 25th anniversary this year, having been released on June 18, 2001. Following his home-recorded debut Small Moments, 2001's The Big Romance marked Kittser's first experience working in a professional studio. “The bulk of the original album was recorded at Pulse Studios off Camden St. with producer Ken McHugh - owner of many of the synths and samplers and drum machines I dreamt of owning back then. It was such an exciting time to have access to this dream palette of sounds and Ken's skill and talent as a producer/programmer. I was bringing in records from underground electronica and hip hop as references for the sound I was going for and the results were a fusion of more traditional acoustic and electric instruments with electronic sounds and hip-hop flavours that was pretty fresh for the time. It felt like a distillation of all the things I was a fan of. It's a sound I feel I've been honing and crafting ever since.” The record - featuring the singles 'Song From Hope St. (Brooklyn, NY)' and 'You Know What I Wanna Know' - sold 60,000 copies in Ireland alone and marked a major shift in Kitt's life as a musician and performer. Originally released on Warner Music, Kitt says: “The contract I signed back then means they own the rights to the album 'for the universe forever', apparently. Great! I approached them about a vinyl reissue for the 10th and 20th anniversaries and got nowhere. So, for the 25th anniversary, I decided to take matters into my own hands and make a version of the album that I own myself and I'm free to press on vinyl.” The new release features all ten tracks of the original album along with three new tracks and b-side and fan favourite 'Saturdays' - all lovingly and faithfully remade in Ballinskelligs, at Kitt's home studio, with the invaluable help of Ken McHugh and drawing on his 25 years' experience of making records with synths and samplers. “I feel I've landed on a document that has the sonic and emotional DNA of the original - and at times improves on it, a record that will be cherished by fans of the original and would get the seal of approval from my 25-year-old self.” David Kitt will perform The Big Romance in full across two special shows at the National Concert Hall this week (Friday and Saturday, April 10-11), joined by an all-star band featuring Dylan Lynch, Rachael Lavelle, Katie Kim, Ryan Hargadon, Paul G. Smyth, Eamon Brady and Gareth Averill. Buy The Big Romance (Kittser's Version): https://davidkitt.bandcamp.com/album/the-big-romance-kittsers-version

¡HOLA! God helg! Hosted on Acast. Welcome to TV Land: Gank That Drank Takes on "Changing Channels"REBROADCASTWelcome to this episode of Gank That Drank: A Supernatural Drinking Game Podcast. Hosts Krissy Lenz and Nate McWhortor dive into one of Supernatural's most beloved meta episodes—Season 5, Episode 8, "Changing Channels." This November 2009 gem throws Sam and Dean Winchester through a whirlwind of TV genres, from sitcoms to medical dramas, as they face off against the Trickster (spoiler: he's actually the archangel Gabriel). It's a brilliant showcase of Supernatural's ability to blend humor, heart, and mythology while paying homage to classic television.Krissy and Nate break down why "Changing Channels" works so well as both a standalone monster-of-the-week episode and a crucial piece of Season 5's apocalyptic arc. They discuss the show's masterful parodies—from the Full House-style opening to the Grey's Anatomy-inspired Dr. Sexy MD sequences, complete with ridiculous cowboy boots and dramatic back-stabbings. The hosts share their thoughts on which TV genre sequences hit hardest (CSI's pun-heavy crime scene is a particular favorite) and debate whether the episode deserves a spot in Supernatural's top 10. They also explore the deeper themes: Gabriel's plea for Sam and Dean to "play your part," the Cain and Abel allegory that runs throughout the series, and why this episode proved Supernatural deserved to survive beyond Season 5.The drinking game rules for "Changing Channels" are as wild as the episode itself: take two drinks every time the channel changes, sip for "doctor," drink for "nutcracker," and waterfall during the CSI pun-fest. Special shots are reserved for "son of a bitch" and "stat." Additional highlights from this episode:Why showing someone the "weird one-off" episodes is the best way to hook them on a TV seriesDean's guilty pleasure obsession with Dr. Sexy MD and why he knows way too much about itThe genius (and expense) of recreating multiple TV genres in a single 42-minute episodeSam as Knight Rider's KITT—and the uncomfortable trunk implicationsWhy "Changing Channels" represents Supernatural finding its voice and creative confidenceLesson learned: Set boundaries with your family and confront those squabbles—don't let things fester like the Winchester brothers (or archangels, for that matter).Want more Gank That Drank? Chaz and AJ's "On the Board" this morning was all about the most iconic vehicles from TV and movies. (0:00) Former NYC Fire Fighter Dave Russell was on the phone with Chaz and AJ this morning to talk about the big high-rise fire that was happening near the NYC St. Patrick's Day parade. (6:59)The Tribe called in their hillbilly moments for a chance to win tickets to see the Foo Fighters. From hunting squirrels, to crashing through a windshield, and Pablo's public service effort picking up garbage. (17:16) How much would you pay for a single Cheeto? Chaz and AJ revealed in Dumb Ass News the new Guinness World Record amount that was paid for the "Cheetozard." (35:50)Carlos Reyes Jr. from the Bridgeport Fire Department was in studio to demonstrate some of the world's strongest firefighter competition, by lifting a 200 pound fire hydrant over his head, while dressed in full gear. New episode out now! We take another dip into ‘80s television with the season three episode of Knight Rider, “Halloween Knight”. We talk about Michael Knight's investigative style and the ‘80s action of it all, believe the episode did not explain the relationships or develop characters clearly, wonder what exactly their authority and jurisdiction are, and really get into KITT as an entity and how it relates to modern AI and smart devices. We also wonder if this influenced RoboCop, discuss the Hitchcock homages scattered throughout, and really loved all the fashion and hairstyles. We were completely unfamiliar with the premise, and so learned some surprising things along the way, but also perhaps looked too deeply into this action show involving perms, tight pants, and a talking car. Katy is not ashamed to say she watched Supernatural, Carrie shares a fun fact about mariachi performers, Maddy thinks men are oppressed, and Mack's brain is bloodshot. We also talk about how the show gave us “Duloc face”, wonder if David Hasselhoff would have been as successful if he was shorter, think we lost the vision of how AI could be perceived in media, and judge pumpkin carving pretty harshly. Listen to hear more about furries, Jekyll & Hyde, yak hair, Columbo, nehru jackets, Isaac Asimov, and more. SEASON 4 EPISODE 19: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (2:30) SPECIAL COMMENT: Trump is escalating his terror campaign against you. If you oppose him, if you criticize him, if you even question him, he will try to call YOU a terrorist, put YOU on a terrorism BLACKLIST. And if that doesn’t work, ARREST you, and if THAT doesn’t work, invade your state and terrorize IT. On the other hand, he has apparently TACO’d out on his terrorist invasion of Portland now saying “well I mean we’re certainly LOOKING AT IT.” But on the OTHER OTHER hand National Security Presidential Memorandum Seven is not on hold; in it Trump claims the right to prosecute you for domestic terrorist if you express quote “anti-Christianity” or oppose the government in any way. Get you indicted when there is literally no case, like James Comey. Or reenact the McCarthy Era blacklist and try to get you fired, as with Lisa Monaco. Or just label you a domestic terrorist because you called Stephen Miller a "fascist." When Stephen Miller has called 150 million Democrats "fascists." That'll be quite the indictment against Miller. Which reminds me: Fox's Jesse Watters calls Miller a "sexual matador." Which I presume means he winds up getting gored in the groin. And just to bring this up a notch, Trump's insanity is growing and it certainly looks like over the weekend, he wanted his social media followers to believe he can bestow upon them the gift of immortality. Not IMMORALITY, "immortality." The saga of Trump's Med Beds and RFK jr's face. B-Block (34:20) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Isabel Vincent writes the weakest New York Post hit job on me in the history of New York Post hit jobs. The breaking news? An anonymous source says I may have been rude to a waiter in 1997. Marco Rubio bans the president of Colombia, tags him on twitter, tags the wrong guy. And Newt Gingrich complains about Abby Spanberger not voting for a particular bill in the House this month. Maybe because she hasn't been a member of the house since January? (45:47) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: It's Stevie Week! Thirteen years ago tomorrow since I was born again in dogs, when Olivia Nuzzi and I were adopted by a tiny Maltese who opened up a new world to me. C-Block (1:06:00) PART TWO OF STEVIE WEEK: The adventures of Stevie and the five dogs who have followed her, including a cameo appearance from the Gotcha Day Girl herself.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
