The 2 Old Farts discuss pet peeves and some of their pet peeves - like driving, cell phone use, merging and others. We hope you enjoy!
This week John Kruse chats shares all the details about the "Old Farts" bass tournament he competes in every year at Eastern Washington's Potholes Reservoir. We'll also share an extended award-winning interview with Andrew McKean with Outdoor Life about efforts to restore bison herds in Montana and roadblocks these efforts are facing. Throw in a healthy amount of outdoors news and we've got a great show coming your way! We've also got regional coverage from the Pacific Northwest to include our outdoor news segment, a preview of the Tacoman Fall RV show with Trey Carskadon, and an extended Mack' Minute.
The 2 Old Farts breakdown the Tx State vs Arizona State football game. Plus other talk about college football. Plus an update on Uncle Bobby. He spent most of the week in the hospital. No real diagnosis but he's feeling better and at home today. Yay!
The 2 Old Farts sit down and sort of recap the 1st week of College Football. It's a special time of the year for us. We've been waiting a long, long, long time for this and its finally here. So please, sit back and indulge us. We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoy doing it.
The 2 Old Farts sit down during the Clemson v Georgia Halftime to discuss Week 1 of College Football.
Quick throw back to Fishing Austin and Central Texas-Aaron's spots are his favorite wades. A boat can change the game (as he mentions). John Geirach in his 1994 book Dances with Trout describes a good paddle in his little canoe where he has a fine time catching bass and such back in the days before the surge. Both the rivers he diddles around on are in Aaron's book (Nueces and Guadalupe) The Show-We are going to monthly. We cannot worry about what other podcasts do or what the pundits and experts say is necessary to have a good podcast. That's fine for people who want to follow formulas that make money and content is dictated by what sells. We could do an a-hole POV podcast like that guy joe rogaine or yet another crime podcast but we are hardcore indie. And we are about fish fishing and eating fish. We do not follow any rules and never have. We do not have a narrow niche, we do not have a regular format (we do have a loose framework currently) and try as we might we do not have consistent release dates scheduled precisely. We are punk rock and while our production limitations are not the result of chemicals and ego they are the result of raising families, founding businesses, doing research and dividing our creativity and energy as best we can over any number of projects, in other words doing our thing. And Fish Nerds is one of our things. And so it survives and we keep casting pod and rod! Clay and his ever evolving merry band of helpers have broadcast this pod since 2011! So please enjoy the show, we have made all the segments a bit longer than usual just to tide y'all over. We may get some bonus material done, we made not. One thing that never has changed is we got the best dang listeners in the podcasting universe and we sure appreciate you stopping by to get your ears filled up with fish stuff. Sometimes you don't get what you want. But that's ok. Sometimes there is a reason. Sometimes there isn't. But we have to keep trying. Keep moving forward. Don't stop or stand still because you make a great target. There's a reason why sharks never stop moving. That's why The 2 Old Farts will keep on doing this little podcast. Thank you.
Another rambling episode of The 2 Old Farts. This week it's softball, soccer and heavy metal music. This past week I saw the NWOBH band Saxon w/ co-headliner Uriah Heep!
Memorial Day is the day we honor the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Airwomen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen who did not return home. The holiday dates back to the months immediately following the Civil War when a few towns and cities began honoring their dead. From The 2 Old Farts - to all the families remembering their lost loved ones — we honor you on Memorial Day and every day. You represent the best of America. Thank you for your service and devotion to our country.
The make-up episode from last week (Mother's Day). We are so sorry we missed last week but thank you for still listening and downloading the podcast. It was a busy week and a good week. I found out I was accepted into the National Defense University graduate certificate program for Chief Data Officer. My son-in-law was accepted into the Nazarene Theological Seminary for his master's degree. My middle daughter is into beekeeping and her hive is really starting to thrive (get it?). My youngest daughter salvaged her Statistics course and pulled out a "B." And she finished her Jr year and rolls into her Sr year. Just a lot of things happening. So, stay tuned and listen to the rest of the ramblings of The 2 Old Farts!

The 2 Old Farts had a good week. Stay tuned to listen all about it. From the San Antonio Brahma's game last weekend, to the Blackberry Smoke concert Friday night - we had a great time together. Being with family is so much fun. And being able to spend time with family is even more important. So if you still have your family, please enjoy them. Don't take them for granted. And thank you for your continued listening. Thank you for the downloads. We are so happy to have you sharing our love for this.
John Cadogan. Anything can happen.
Technology will be the death of us, I swear it will. Last week we had a terrible echo on the audio from my dad. It didn't have the echo when he spoke, only in the recording. Now this week, we had no audio issues, unable to do anything on the dashboard of my recording site, to another echo from my dad. It was on and on. HOPEFULLY (and HOPE isn't a plan) - it will all work out this episode. So stay tuned in, we hope you do.
In this episode we have two Hall of Famers Rod Hildebrand & Lou Mathews (Pops), this was an epic episode, with some awesome stories and just plain bowling fun. You will not want to miss this, and Jeff Knopov (AKA: Joe Konopy) was his usual self.. We have all of our usual banter and slapstick. We have Jeff's Menorah Meltdown, Toms Report, as well as Keith's corner!!We appreciate you all listening, just by listening you support us.If you have any questions or ideas please feel free to contact us, we are open to ideas and guest suggestions..Thank You and God Bless!!
The 2 Old Farts want you to remember those who are suffering. Fron the Texas Smokehouse Creek wildfires up in the panhandle to the Francis Scott Key bridge disaster in Baltimore. To those who are struggling in the tough economy. High rent and low pay. You name it. We are here for you and want you to know we care. And if you are a veteran and you need care or help with a claim, reach out to us. We can help you get the help you need. Don't suffer in silence. We got your back!
Rachel and Brad are weenus deep in smut between his book The Summer We Porked and her latest installment in the President High series, Old Farts, Broken Hearts & Revolutionary Warts.
Who doesn't hate daylight savings time? I know I do and so does the better looking of the 2 Old Farts. Frankly we hate it and think it should be abolished? What say you? In today's episode we talk history, Viet Nam, warfare today, failure to learn from history, whiskey, bourbon, single malt whiskey and other various sundry topics. We hope you enjoy!
Apologies for missing last week's episode. My father was a bit sick and I was coming off being sick. These things are harder to shake the older you get. We had a lot to discuss since we didn't record an episode last week. Plus I have been to a lot of concerts these past few weeks with still more to come. Last night at the Pat Green concert, my wife meet the owner of Epic Western, an awesome cocktail in a can company. You should DEFINITELY give them a taste/try. Delicious! Everything else, you will learn when you download and listen to this week's episode of The 2 Old Farts! Enjoy.
Well, the weather outside was more than frightful - it was downright cold the week before last. So listen up 2 Old Farts fans - because you will hear all about the shenanigans that happened last weekend at the Country and Western show! We met a lot of great people on the porch at Floores Country Store. It was cold but we had heaters and bourbon to keep us warm. All except for my mom's butt. But - get it - you will have to listen to it all to hear all about it. Again, we apologize for not being consistent with our podcast and we will endeavor to get better. Please be patient and please stick with us.

Happy New Year to everyone. Thank you for listening to The 2 Old Farts and thank you for listening to us in the New Year. It's been a wild new year for sure. And in the realm of college football, we have a NEW Champion - the Michigan Wolverines! Congratulations. Well deserved. You put on an exhibition in defense against Alabama in the CFP playoffs! And in the realm of Alabama - we lost "The GOAT!" Nick Saban has officially retired after 17 seasons. And in his stead is Kalen DeBoer from the University of Washington Huskies! Welcome aboard. So sit back and enjoy.
In this festive end-of-year episode, Leo gathers some of the veteran hosts of the TWiT network, dubbed "old farts," to reflect on the major tech stories and trends of 2023 while looking ahead to 2024. They debate AI and tech's impact on society, discuss the ups and downs of companies like Twitter, Apple, and SpaceX, reminisce about the early days of computing and the Internet, and more, all with good humor and insight gained from decades in tech. Topics Discussed: The explosion of AI in 2023, from chatbots like ChatGPT to powerful new AI demonstrations. Debate on whether we're nearing AGI (artificial general intelligence) and the societal impacts. The rise and struggles of companies like Facebook/Meta, Netflix, Twitter, Alibaba. Patterns of tech success, failure, and Corey Doctorow's concept of "ensh*tification." Elon Musk: The good (SpaceX, Starlink), bad (Twitter), and unpredictable. Is he still an innovator or has wealth and power corrupted him? Open source, Linux, and big tech's relationship to open ecosystems. Concerns about commercialization diluting open ideals. Looking back on early tech days. How the history of tech contextualizes what's happening today. Nostalgia and optimism for the early Internet days. The revival of space exploration, privatized today by SpaceX and others. What can we expect as we (hopefully) return to the Moon in 2024? Chaos, unpredictability, and the feeling of societal flux as we head into 2024. An uncertain but interesting future awaits. Memorable Quotes: "AI is only dangerous to humans if you give it physical agency in the real world. Combine AI with a robotic dog, and now you got something." - Leo "When are you getting your stupid thing that you wear that has the laser on your hand?" - Jeff to Leo "It's time to hand it over. We're effing up the world. We've done it for centuries. It's time to hand it over." - Jeff on tech leadership "So has anybody played with the Apple ones that have the weird eyeballs?" - Doc on Apple's augmented reality efforts "Chaos is a weird thing. You could have your faucet dripping slowly and almost all of the drips go down and land and that's it, but somehow about a yard off to the one side is a drip" - Steve on increasing chaos Host: Leo Laporte Guests: Jeff Jarvis, Doc Searls, Steve Gibson, and Rod Pyle Download or subscribe to this show at https://twit.tv/shows/this-week-in-tech Get episodes ad-free with Club TWiT at https://twit.tv/clubtwit Sponsors: rocketmoney.com/twit gusto.com/tech Stamps.com promo code TWiT hid.link/twitdemo

Tough Guys (1986) / Children of Nature (1991) This week we're making way for tomorrow as we saunter out of prison and into the 80s with Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas and break out of the retirement home with Friðrik Þór Friðriksson
As Dazzas celebrates volunteer day and the wonderful contributions across our adventurer community, we hear about Mel's trip to the West-East-side at Campbelltown parkrun and Olly finally shows up to share his visit to Tassie, Collingwood and, well, Shellharbour #inourbudgies
Sex, romance, death and divorce are just four of the subjects the Old Gay Guys explore during this Smart Sex, Smart Love podcast. Bill Lyons, 79; Jessay Martin, 70; Robert Reeves, 80; and Mick Peterson, 67; like to call themselves the “Old Gay Guys,” but that doesn't even come close to describing who they are and the impact they have made on literally millions of lives! The four friends modeled for Men's Health, and “we dropped our pants” when we were asked,” they all laugh about their first “exposure” to celebrity status. They were introduced through Grindr and then began TikTok messages in late 2021. Today, they log some 10.5 million followers on TikTok and close to one million on Instagram. Their audience is mostly women under the age of 35. Asked why they think their biggest fans are the younger generation, they responded, “young people look up to us; they understand our struggles and what we've been through and how it affects their own future.”In this podcast, the Old Gay Guys tell their story, freely discuss their sex lives, help dispel the myths of aging, and talk about their recently released book, “The Old Gays' Guide to the Good Life.”

Hello to all of our fans, friends and family. We are thankful for each and every one of you. It's just another peaceful, easy, Sunday today. And we were able to get another episode in the books. Not much has changed or happened since we last talked. Ok - I take that back. I went to Hawaii for work. It was a nice trip with coworkers who are also friends. It was also nice to be able to visit the USS Arizona memorial and pay our respects. If you make it to Hawaii - that is an absolute bucket-list must see! Again, we are so happy and thankful for you all. And to our Ontario, Canada listener, thank you. That is so awesome. But among this thankfulness comes a hint of sadness. The sadness in knowing that our beloved College Football is coming to an end. The season is half over. Alabama is looking strong. Georgia does too, however, their schedule is mightly weak! Colorado - I see you! Coach Prime is doing an awesome job! Notre Dame, I see you too. Overrated as usual. Well, I need to get this episode "in the can" and published on the socials because I have another concert to attend tonight - The Dropkick Murphys! See ya! The 2 Old Farts

Good morning and Good Afternoon, depending on where you are. Why? Because 1 half (the REALLY better looking of the 2 Old Farts) is away on business and in Germany! What a rare treat it is for me to be here in Germany for work. I really cannot get enough of this beautiful country. I have been stationed in Germany twice throughout my Army career. The 1st time was from 1986 - 1990 and the last time was from 1992 - 1996. I did have a few pit stops in Germany when I was station in Italy from 2001 - 2004 and a few TDY's to Germany while I was stationed with US Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) at Fort Bragg, NC. Lucky me! Well, I cannot get enough of the beer and schnitzel over here! The food is so awesome. The people are just the best and the people that I am working with couldn't be any cooler. I am honored to be working alongside some of the finest cyber professionals that Switzerland has to offer. We hope you enjoy this episode - and I especially hope my Swiss cyber cohorts enjoy this episode and all the others. Take care and Bonjour! IYKYK.

Happy Birthday America! We are 247 years young! America - the great social experiment. You may not think it, or believe it, but our country was founded by not just great men, but forward thinking men. Men of vision. One of those men, was our 1st President - George Washington. George Washington said this of America - "The establishment of our new Government seemed to be the last great experiment for promoting human happiness." What a statement. By the way, our Constitution is the only one in the world that guarantees our right to the pursuit of happiness. America and all that it stands for is something that we (the 2 Old Farts) are very proud of. We served this country, in times of peace and in war. We love it - warts and all. There are things that that our founding father's and their ancestors did that we aren't proud of - but we've learned and grown from it. So take some time to celebrate our Republic! And if you be from somewhere else in the world - thank you for listening and downloading our podcast. We thank you. Especially to Canada! You have been very good to us with your frequent downloads. We are truly an international podcast!
The 2 Old Farts want to wish you all a very Happy Father's Day. We recorded it on Father's Day (18 June) but are posting it today on Juneteenth! So Happy Juneteenth everybody! I hope everyone had a wonderful and fantastic father's day yesterday. I know my father and I did. We were able to spend it with each other and our families. We grilled some burgers and sausage, along with jalapeno poppers. My dad made his famous baked beans. We had potato salad, strawberry shortcake, fuit and veggies and chips and dip. It a feast for sure! Oh and don't forget the ice cold beer and Texas sweet tea! We are very grateful for your participation and we hope to hear from you. Please tell us what you like - what you dislike and what you want us to try next. We hope you keep listening because we do enjoy doing what we do.
We reunite with the 'Old Farts' as they embark on a murky delve into the back alleys and second hand book shops of London's East End in search of a most dangerous tome. Based on the brilliant 'Bookhounds of London' sourcebook for Trail of Cthulhu by Kenneth Hite with additional material by Steve Dempsey we veer off course a few times but always return to the gin sodden streets of Whitechapel where death is always lurking somewhere in the shadows. The 2 Old Farts are back after a 2 week hiatus. Last week was my anniversary so we were on vacation. Which fed into Memorial Day. Memorial Day can be kind of a sad time remembering those whom we have lost. Personally, I lost 2 friends: Major Ed Murphy and CW2 Scott Coulter. I worked for Major Murphy while we were stationed in Italy. When I left Italy, he stayed behind and his unit deployed to Afghanistan. I returned to the US where my unit deployed to Iraq. Major Murphy died in a helicopter crash in 2005. I knew CW2 Scott Coulter from my time at Fort Hood. I left Fort Hood to go to Italy. CW2 Coulter deployed from Fort Hood to Iraq in OIF 1. He was killed by a roadside IED in the fall of 2003. He died where I would be stationed just 14 months later. As you will hear, my father, mother and wife and I went to see the Bellamy Brothers last night at The Roundup. It was a great time. My mom enjoys her bourbons! Oh and she loved my candle that I got her for Mother's Day. Oh - and Canada. We've been having quite a few downloads from Canada. So far this month - we've only had 1 download it came from Canada so congratulations! We are so happy to have you listening to us. Thank you!

Do you want alien archeologists to brand Earth the T-shirt and cardboard planet? We neither, so let's get to work quelling the free-farce zone built upon by bumper stickers, bad governance, idiot officials and ideology that can't get past its first foot forward. Expand your inputs (think from the firehose) - AM is a part of unexpected reality, and that's good. Challenge the bubble - Car & Driver is taking down the fake figures supporting e-car efficiency. Ridicule bureaucrats when they say things that don't make sense - racist roads and electric tanks? ...And call out corruption when you see it - Sniffy Joe's White House basement just hired Ford's China-funded battery lobbyist. WT capital F? More to love (perhaps it's time for a diet): cyborgs, hard-boiled eggs, New Jersey-level paranoid, electric NASCAR and quiet Thunderboats, are catalytic thefts being buoyed by the skidplate industry, plus Folk Implosion, Man or Astroman, Mastodon, Cujo, Beck, DJ Shadow, Gruntruck and Bio-Mechanical Degeneration.
