Check out Richard Rohr's latest book, The Tears of Things, where he explores the wisdom of the prophets and the realities of social sin. In this episode of The Sacred Speaks, I sit down with Father Richard Rohr—one of the most respected spiritual teachers of our time. We dive into the significance of prophecy, the necessity of self-awareness in transformation, and the ways in which religion can both illuminate and obscure the path to truth. Father Rohr shares insights from The Tears of Things, his latest book, which reframes the role of the prophets—not as finger-wagging moralists but as voices crying out against the deep, systemic sins that threaten to unravel society. Our conversation moves through themes of non-dual thinking, the dangers of religious idolatry, and how true spiritual growth requires both inner work and a commitment to the collective good. Throughout the episode, Richard offers deeply personal reflections on his own spiritual journey, the necessity of sadness and self-doubt, and the ongoing process of transformation that never really ends. In this episode, I'm gonna be discussing how to find your inner peace and tranquility through this day and age of society, where everything is about narcissism, control, manipulating, bamboozling, leading people, astray, lying, cheating, deceiving, traumatizing, hurting, abusing, neglecting, and more. We are in a world that is based upon negativity. Everything that is positive is being wiped out of this world as we know it. Society is more about the seven dead sins , and it is about teaching people the right way to do things based upon God standards. How do we as people maneuver in a world full of chaos and destruction. A world were negative. People are turning godly people into lost souls by using their flaws, and perfection against them. By pressuring them to do things that go against everything that is of God to do something negative. And how a lot of people have paid the price as far as a consequences come repercussions, and karma other actions based upon their actions, behavior, choices, and decisions that they've made, based on influence of other people. and why I choose not to even entertain side standards. Sometimes we just have to tune out the noise that is of the world. And not be a part of the world.

Have you ever had someone jump to false conclusions about you based on a single comment or tweet? That's what you call a hasty generalization, and people on both sides of the political and theological aisle have been guilty of committing this logical fallacy, many times resulting in the marginalization of whomever is on the receiving end of the accusation. In this current season of political chaos, how can you speak your mind (and share the truth) without falling into the trap of becoming a victim (or maybe even a perpetrator) of these snap judgments? This week, Frank addresses 10 hot-button topics in a single podcast episode! How will he cram so much in so little time? Hastily! In this lightning fast discussion on politics, religion, and logical fallacies, Frank will answer questions like: Is it racist to care about border security? Does being concerned about racial disparities mean that a person is "woke"? Is it divisive to call out heresy in church? How did Frank respond when someone called him a bigot? Do Christians seem to carry a lot of political influence as of late? What did the "He Gets Us" ad campaign get wrong...again? Later in the episode, Frank responds to an email from a skeptic who made a few hasty generalizations in regards to the previous podcast episode featuring Eric Metaxas. Whether it's political issues like border security and election fraud or theological debates like a young earth versus an old earth, we shouldn't make assumptions without having sufficient information. Want to learn more about how to avoid hasty generalizations? Consider attending the Fearless Faith conference in Xenia, OH this upcoming weekend (February 16-17)! In this enlightening and thought-provoking episode, we delve deep into several contentious issues prevalent in modern society today. From the influence of social media programming and the problematic affordability crisis, to rampant homelessness, changing work ethics, and current immigration trends. We passionately discuss how these factors are shaping our world, and the potential impacts on future generations. We begin by examining the influence of social media and the wider media landscape on our perceptions and interactions, and how this 'programming' shapes our everyday lives. We acknowledge the complexities of our society, revealing that despite technological advancements and seemingly better economies, significant portions of our population still struggle with basic necessities. We highlight the plight of the homeless and the economic divide, asking poignant questions about the true distribution of wealth. Moving forward, our conversation shifts to the evolution of work ethics in this digital era. We contemplate whether the current generation's penchant for digital influence and the avoidance of conventional employment patterns could signal a shift away from traditional nine-to-five jobs. Diving into the tumultuous topic of immigration, we dissect reports of conspicuous immigration trends and question the outcomes. This exploration of immigration brings us to broader discussions about the changing demographics of our society and how that impacts the fabric of the nation. Furthermore, we touch on political developments and the attitudes of those on the left and right of the political spectrum, emphasizing the need for effective messaging for politicians in these times. Aimed at stimulating thought and encouraging deeper reflection, our in-depth discussion on these contentious issues offers valuable insights for anyone interested in understanding the complexities of modern society.

The judicial overhaul being proposed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has united countless Israelis in at least one way: their strong opinions on the matter. To its supporters, the legislation represents a critical need to stand in the way of an activist and unelected judiciary. To its opponents, it is an unforgivable assault on democracy. But is there room for compromise between the two sides, and what is taking place behind the scenes that may be missed by the international news media? In this week's podcast, we are joined by one of Israel's most foremost public intellectuals and a senior fellow at the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem, Yossi Klein Halevi. He is a prominent opponent of the legislation but has also sought to close the gap between Israelis to ensure that disagreement can remain civil and with Israel's best interests always in mind. We're so divided today, whether it's politics, religion, or finances, it's tough trying to make sense of the word where there's so many agendas and attitudes. Some politically motivated, some financial, some just based on our differences. But at the end of the day Rebecca and I want to get to the bottom of our differences and try to uncover not only some of the overlap we can all share as a people, but also, perhaps try to learn from each other's point of view. Here, we take on subjects like the differences between Oregon and California since moving to Oregon a little over 7 years ago, and some of the things we like and don't like about both. We talk about trying to find an appreciation for those rivals and folks who are different from us and celebrating our common base values. We take on the subject of equality vs equity, and what are the differences and similarities, as well as tolerance vs intolerance, and finding the class, grace, and maturity to come together to solve our biggest problems together to help try to elevate regular people and build a stronger middle class. We're trying to find ways in which we can all get along and work together, and I'm not exactly optimistic yet about it! But here, Rebecca and I put on our thinking caps to try to get to the heart of what's going on in our culture and times today. We may never agree on the solutions, hell, we may never even agree on objective reality! But what we should be able to do, at minimal, is to try to agree to put our differences aside so that we can start finding real answers to the issues that are killing the heart and soul of people trying to live in the world today!
