In a major blow to South Dakota’s nascent legal marijuana industry, a circuit court judge ruled that a voter-approved constitutional amendment legalizing adult-use cannabis is unconstitutional. South Dakota voters in November approved Amendment A with 54% in favor as well as Measure 26, which legalized medical marijuana, with 53% in favor. Those victories made South Dakota the first state to simultaneously legalize adult-use and medical marijuana markets. #RedFlag no.1? However, the judge ruled that Amendment A violated a South Dakota law that requires amendments seeking to change the state’s constitution to focus on only one subject. The law also prohibits broad changes to state government. In the end, South Dakota's governor will delay medical cannabis program until 2022. The governor said the delay is necessary because she doesn’t have enough time to study the issue before starting a medical marijuana program this year. *COUGH* BULLSHIT *COUGH* Show Notes: Judge shoots down South Dakota’s adult-use cannabis amendment https://mjbizdaily.com/daily-news/#first-big-tobacco-marijuana-player-pyxus-international-exits-marijuana-and-hemp Guest: Katrina Glogowski, Seattle Attorney & Angel Investor https://www.linkedin.com/in/katrina-glogowski-711a985/ Host: Josh Kincaid, Capital Markets Analyst & host of your cannabis business podcast. https://www.linkedin.com/in/joshkincaid/ Episode 656 of The Talking Hedge: Your Cannabis Business Podcast. Barney Scholes from the People's Vote campaign was our guest on today's show. Barney is the first of a series of interviews that we conducted in London surrounding Brexit, the People's Vote, and a 'No Deal' scenario. We chatted all about the different justifications and arguments surrounding a vote on the final Brexit deal, as well as post-Brexit disaster planning and the lack of responsibility in politics today. We had a great conversation about the possibility that there could be a 'People's Vote' on the Brexit Deal, whether a majority does or can exist in parliament in support of another referendum, and the current Labour party policy on the issue. https://www.facebook.com/streetmicpod/posts/A explosive argument erupted between Brexiteers & Remainers at The People's Vote rally in London on Saturday 19 October 2019. The argument flared up because a young lady was angry in voicing her concerns that 17.4 million people had voted to leave the EU, and a campaign was taking place to overturn a democratic result through a people's vote. Her arguments were countered by many people who disliked her angry approach. Please be advised that you may find some of the comments made in this podcast as offensive.StreetMic will upload a new episode every Sunday. It feels like literally months since the last Marvel film came out, so Sam was absolutely champing at the bit to see the latest offering, Captain Marvel - a title which, if it wasn't referencing a property created in the 60s, would suggest the franchise had expended every single other possible superhero moniker. Danny meanwhile reviews Being Frank: The Chris Sievey Story, an uplifting documentary about the maverick comedian and musician Frank Sidebottom. We also discuss who we would cast in a People's Vote movie, satirist grandee Jon Stewart's upcoming film project, and Marvel's efforts to add to their progressive credentials by announcing their first Asian lead, albeit for a film about a superhero who does kung-fu. Danny gives his take on the Oscar-nominated Can You Ever Forgive Me?, which is also the question the Academy should be posing to the world after failing to reward this good film and bungling most categories in general. Sam meanwhile, in the grip of the flu at the time of the recording, feverishly mumbles his way through reviews of a pair of Netflix originals: Steven Soderbergh's High Flying Birds, a drama about some aspects of professional basketball Sam absolutely does not understand, and Velvet Buzzsaw, a horror-comedy which fearlessly and scathingly calls out the art world as pretentious. Sam will never buy art again. We also discuss Richard Curtis's Beatles film, which looks like a sort of glorious daydream for People's Vote campaigners, and of course we do a deep dive into THE TRENCH. Around 700 thousand people marched through London in October 2018 calling for a 'People's Vote' on the final Brexit deal between the UK and the EU. But what are the chances of it actually happening? The reporters were Sophie Wiggins and Aaron McMillan. Politics at the Edge is produced by the University of East Anglia and is supported by the UEA's Engagement and Innovation Fund.

Beyond the Noise with David Jamieson is a weekly podcast with CommonSpace journalist David Jamieson, where he gets behind the 24/7 outrage-driven social media news circus and gets to heart of issues, trying to find the substance behind the headlines. On this episode Jamieson speaks with Jonathon Shafi, a Scottish socialist activist, about the crisis exploding around Theresa May's withdrawal deal with the EU, which has seen yet more senior ministers resign. They discuss: - 1:10 What does the latest crisis, and the deal itself, tell about the nature of Brexit? - 8:55 Should it be the end of the line for the left's involvement in the so called 'People's Vote'? - 20:32 What have the various response to the meltdown over the deal been from opposition parties? Are they an effective response. - 33:34 What are the next steps for the left in response to the crisis?
Early release special – recorded at 2-3pm on Wednesday and it was up to date when we pressed ‘send’! THE DEAL is finally here, but what does it mean? What’s in it, who’s going to hate it and can May get it past Parliament, the DUP, the ERG and an increasingly restive populace? Comedian, actor and fellow Brexit sufferer CHRIS ADDISON joins us at the hinge of history to ask where we go from here, the true meaning of vassalage, how we can change the agenda… and how Ollie from ‘The Thick Of It’ would have fitted into our new political reality.PLUS: We go to Tuesday’s #PeoplesVote rally and grab Justine Greening for a quote! What the so-called Taxpayer’s Alliance’s capitulation to whistleblower Shahmir Sanni’s wrongful dismissal suit really means. What would Oliver Postgate’s animated series ‘55 Tufton Street’ be like? Last night was Halloween but there's no trick or treating in this all genuine, all traditional, Scottish podcast. Lesley turns her gimlet gaze on Scotland's less than glorious witch hunting past and explodes some myths. I chip in with a wee bit on the roots of Samhain and memories of the 1950s. We both reflect on what the witch hunts of the 17th century mean to modern Scottish society. Lesley's recent column in the National on the People's Vote, sparked by Pete Wishart's warnings over it, has certainly sparked some debate. She considers not only the importance of the vote itself for the cause of independence but also how the decision by Nicola Sturgeon to support it was apparently taken. The next section on the changing nature of the UK tax system and income inequality is all the fault of Iain McWhirter. As he's done to Lesley so often, he got in first with what I was going to say. So, blame him! Finally, it's hats off to Stuart Cosgrove and the team for bringing C4's new Creative Hub to Glasgow.
Benji Hyer asks: How close to Brexit are we? And, is it fair to force artists to not to swear on stage at music festivals?
On this week's episode, Joe and Marie are joined by Westminster veteran Michael Crick who has just published a new book, Sultan of Swing: The Life of David Butler. Michael joins the podcast to discuss the People's Vote march in London, Nick Clegg's move to Facebook, the murder of Jamal Khashoggi, and the nation's favourite sandwich shape. Hundreds of thousands of people march through London for a referendum on the final Brexit deal, but many on the left remain skeptical. The Saudi Arabia finally admit the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Hosted by James Fox w/ Alex Maskill
As 700,000 people march in favour of a People's Vote, Steve and Cory discuss the lack of progress at a EU leader's summit and why a second referendum seems more likely than a general election. Our theme tune is Plucky Good Times by Dave Depper and James Cram designed our logo.
Ahead of the People’s Vote March we ask: it’s all very well winning a chance to vote again but how do we carry the day? Who do we target, how do we campaign… and what happens if it’s a choice of Deal Or No Deal?Plus: What does the impending fall of Speaker John Bercow mean for Parliament’s role in the Brexit “process”? Are the Met really dragging their feet on investigating the Leave campaign’s alleged cheating because of political pressure? And a surprise guest appearance from Pearse Smith of Our Future Our Choice Northern Ireland, telling us how the whole Brexit mess looks from the perspective of young people who have grown up with the Good Friday Agreement and don’t want to lose it just because Jacob Rees-Mogg thinks Armagh is a large wardrobe.“If the UK is going to remain in a Customs Union, what was the point of this exercise?” – Nina SchickThis week’s REMAINIACS is produced and presented by Andrew Harrison with Ian Dunt, Nina Schick and Naomi Smith. This week we meet the most important people in the whole Brexit mess: the people who voted Leave, now regret it and are fighting hard for a #PeoplesVote. Emma Huckey and Hugh Norris of grassroots group Remainer Now join Alex, Naomi and Andrew for a stirring discussion of why they changed their minds – and their tips on how to persuade wavering Leavers over to our side of the fence. “How did I feel after the Referendum?” says Hugh. “I’d never felt so played in my life.”Plus BREXIT THROUGH THE GIFT SHOP: What can Remainers do to make Theresa May’s Festival of Brexit Britain into the swimming success it so clearly deserves to be? (You can guess where this one goes). The shameful immigration clampdown and the upcoming trade climbdown. Unfortunately, Boris Johnson yet again. Will they agree or not? Hugo also ponders “who is the one person who would suffer the most from another vote?”. Who do you side with - #SuggSoundHugo or #SuggSoundDuncan? Thanks for listening, and please do rate, share and subscribe so others find this podcast. #SuggSound and @HugoSugg on social media.
