Climate change is not a belief or a niche theme—it's a 10,000‑year economic shift that reshapes how we should be thinking about energy, food, and materials. In this episode of Sustainability Leaders, Angela Adduci of the BMO Climate Institute speaks with Sanjeev Krishnan, Managing Partner of S2G Investments, about how investors need to rethink capital, risk, and returns in the climate economy. Krishnan explains why traditional venture and private‑equity models often fall short in energy, food, and ocean systems, and why S2G focuses on a “fit‑for‑purpose” framework instead. The conversation explores the growing “missing middle” in climate investment, how systems‑level thinking shapes portfolio construction, and why climate investing is ultimately about turning useful energy into useful materials. As geopolitical tensions persist, Aarathi Krishnan dissects the disconnect between Washington's optimism and Tehran's firm stance on nuclear enrichment. While equities seem to price in a diplomatic resolution, ongoing risks in the Strait of Hormuz could keep war insurance premiums elevated for months. Krishnan warns that a complete collapse of negotiations could send oil prices surging by up to 50%, a scenario major analysts are already monitoring closely.======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day.Subscribe to the Market Minute newsletter - https://schwabnetwork.com/subscribeDownload the iOS app - https://apps.apple.com/us/app/schwab-network/id1460719185Download the Amazon Fire Tv App - https://www.amazon.com/TD-Ameritrade-Network/dp/B07KRD76C7Watch on Sling - https://watch.sling.com/1/asset/191928615bd8d47686f94682aefaa007/watchWatch on Vizio - https://www.vizio.com/en/watchfreeplus-exploreWatch on DistroTV - https://www.distro.tv/live/schwab-network/Follow us on X – https://twitter.com/schwabnetworkFollow us on Facebook – https://www.facebook.com/schwabnetworkFollow us on LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/company/schwab-network/About Schwab Network - https://schwabnetwork.com/about
She came to the US with her first year's tuition and figured the rest out from there. What followed is one of the most grounded quality leadership journeys I have heard - and one we felt was worth bringing back.Swetha Krishnan on Building a Quality Mindset from the Ground UpThis is a rerelease of one of our favourite episodes from two years ago. In today's episode I was joined by Swetha Krishnan. I really wanted to bring this conversation back because Swetha's route into quality was entirely unplanned - and the way she has turned that unplanned start into a clear leadership philosophy is something every quality professional should hear.Swetha came to the US from India to complete a master's in bioengineering at the University of Toledo. She needed work, she needed a visa sponsor, and she found her way into a contractor role at Pfizer in Connecticut doing technical writing and validation. It was not the destination she had mapped out, but two years of being moved from role to role - quality management systems, regulatory content authoring, client-facing support - gave her a cross-functional view of how a pharma company actually operates. From there she moved through roles at Biogen, Sanofi Genzyme, and Alkermes before taking on her current position leading quality across all GXPs at Mural Oncology, a clinical-stage biotech focused on cytokine-based immunotherapies for cancer.Swetha leads with a combination of strategic clarity and genuine warmth. She is honest about the things she struggled with early on - particularly the belief that credibility required having all the answers - and equally clear about what changed that. She talks about the boss at Alkermes who told her she would one day be head of quality before she believed it herself, the nine-month Women Unlimited LEAD program that gave her two external mentors, and the MIT LeadershipSignature course that asked her to examine what in her personal history shapes how she shows up every day.We talk about the following:• How a bioengineering thesis on non-invasive glucose measurement for diabetics led to an unexpected start in quality• Starting as a contractor at Pfizer and what wearing so many hats in two years taught her about the whole product life cycle• Why validation gave her a quality mindset before she had ever formally joined a quality team• The shift from individual contributor to manager to leader of teams - and why it forced her to rethink everything she thought she knew about credibility• The nine-month Women Unlimited LEAD program at Alkermes and the boss who saw her potential before she saw it herself• Quality by design in practice - being involved in CRO selection from the start, not after the contract is signed• How she manages prioritisation, managing up, and keeping her team grounded in a lean, fast-moving clinical-stage biotech• Her 4C model for aspiring quality leaders: challenge, curiosity, collaboration, and compassionSwetha is a thoughtful, pragmatic quality leader who understands how to balance compliance, collaboration and business reality in complex development environments. If you are a quality professional working in an early-stage biotech and trying to build the right systems with limited resources, then this episode is for you. You can watch on LinkedIn Live at 12pm EST today or listen via Apple or Spotify. Thank you Swetha for sharing your incredible journey. Hope everyone enjoys the show.Who This Episode Is For• Quality managers and directors in clinical-stage biotech who are building systems and leading teams without large headcounts or unlimited budgets• Aspiring heads of quality who are in the transition from individual contributor to people leader and finding that shift harder than they expected• Quality professionals who came into the function from validation, technical writing, or another non-traditional route and are still making sense of how it all connects• Senior quality leaders who want a practical framework for developing the next generation on their team• Anyone in pharma or biotech who has ever felt like asking for help put their credibility at riskTimestamps:(00:00) Introduction to Swetha Krishnan and Mural Oncology(05:08) The Importance of Quality in Biotech(11:00) The Role of Quality in Driving Strategy(16:39) Managing Stress and Prioritization(21:55) Self-Development and Continuous Learning(26:44) Advice for Aspiring Quality Leaders

Artificial intelligence is often sold as inevitable — a force that will transform our lives for the better. But Karen Hao believes that story is too simple, and too convenient. An author and journalist, she has spent years investigating the people behind the AI boom. In her book Empire of AI, she argues that the technology is not just being built — it's being shaped by a small group of companies driven by competition and a desire for dominance. In this episode, Krishnan delves into whether she is now an activist as she continues to challenge the idea that AI's future is already written. So, who really decides how AI develops — and is it too late to change course?
Hari Krishnan joins Niels and Cem for a deep exploration of what happens when markets become dominated by flows rather than fundamentals. Drawing on his new paper with Mike Green and Stefan Sturm, Hari explains why rising passive ownership may weaken price discovery, amplify concentration in mega-cap stocks and create conditions for reflexive instability. The conversation expands far beyond indexing, touching on volatility targeting, leverage, dispersion, inflation, government intervention and the growing dependence of the global economy on rising asset prices. Along the way, Cem and Hari debate whether policymakers can continue stabilizing an increasingly fragile system, what could trigger a structural break, and how investors should think about positioning in a world where flows may matter more than fundamentals.-----50 YEARS OF TREND FOLLOWING BOOK AND BEHIND-THE-SCENES VIDEO FOR ACCREDITED INVESTORS - CLICK HERE-----Follow Niels on Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube or via the TTU website.IT's TRUE ? – most CIO's read 50+ books each year – get your FREE copy of the Ultimate Guide to the Best Investment Books ever written here. And you can get a free copy of my latest book “Ten Reasons to Add Trend Following to Your Portfolio” here.Learn more about the Trend Barometer here.Send your questions to info@toptradersunplugged.comAnd please share this episode with a like-minded friend and leave an honest Rating & Review on iTunes or Spotify so more people can discover the podcast.Follow Cem on Twitter.Follow Hari on LinkedIn.Episode TimeStamps: 00:00 - Hari warns about a fragile financial system dependent on a handful of decision-makers01:06 - Niels introduces Hari's new paper with Mike Green and Stefan Sturm03:00 - Why passive investing may weaken the link between fundamentals and prices08:40 - The key assumptions behind the model12:49 - How passive adoption accelerated structural market changes15:11 - Cem explains why markets may now drive the economy rather than reflect it23:38 - Can policymakers control a complex financial system?27:03 - How passive flows amplify mega-cap concentration31:22 - The changing role of dispersion, volatility and positioning41:04 - What the model suggests about instability at high passive ownership levels46:21 - Why 2022 may have been a warning sign51:55 - Inflation, government intervention and the limits of market control55:33 - What could trigger a systemic break?01:07:28 - Political and demographic pressures beneath the system01:10:43 - Hari's portfolio implications: stay long, hedge smartly and own inflation sensitivityCopyright © 2025 – CMC AG – All Rights Reserved----PLUS: Whenever you're ready... here are 3 ways I can help you in your investment Journey:1. eBooks that cover key topics that you need to know about In my eBooks, I put together some key discoveries and things I have learnt during the more than 3 decades I have worked in the Trend Following industry, which I hope you will find useful. This episode contains discussions of sexual violence, human trafficking and child abuse. Please listen at your discretion.Have you ever read a headline, felt the rage to make a difference, but didn't know where to start? But an 8-year-old girl acted on it and inspired millions to make a difference, no matter how small In this episode, Tara sits down with Sunitha Krishnan, founder of Prajwala, Asia's largest institution combating sex trafficking, and Padma Shri recipient, to discuss her memoir I Am What I Am. Over three decades, Sunitha and her team have rescued more than 32,000 survivors and prevented 18,000 children from entering the sex trade. This is the story behind all of that. She traces her journey from a 17-year-old with no experience walking into red light areas to building one of the most sophisticated rescue and rehabilitation operations in the world. She talks about what a rescue actually looks like on the ground, speaks candidly about her own experience of gang rape at 15 and why she refused to let it become her entire identity. From being beaten up and accused of kidnapping the very children she was rescuing, and when she had to spend 23 days in jail, the stories of her fearlessness are endless.Tara and Sunitha ji also get into the process of writing the book. She spent 13 days in a hotel room alone with her memories, writing for 14 hours every day. She spent two hours being violently ill as her body released what her mind had been holding for decades, but she didn't leave until every last memory was on the page. Courage can also be contagious. Press play and maybe you'll be inspired to take that step you might've been putting off. ‘Books and Beyond with Bound' is the podcast where Tara Khandelwal and Michelle D'costa uncover how their books reflect the realities of our lives and society today. It was a pleasure to host a conversation with Hari Krishnan, Head of Volatility Strategies at SCT Capital, on the changing nature of volatility markets, portfolio hedging, and why commodities may offer increasingly valuable diversification in today's environment. Hari reflects on his book Second Leg Down, which explores practical approaches to tail-risk hedging and the cyclical nature of volatility. He discusses how investors often ignore protection in calm periods, only to rush toward hedges after markets have already repriced risk. That dynamic leads to a broader conversation on planning, budgeting, and approaching hedging as an ongoing portfolio discipline rather than a reactive decision. We then turn to option markets more broadly, including volatility risk premium, skew, and the challenge of protecting against fat-tailed outcomes. Hari explains why moderately out-of-the-money options often embed persistent premium, while deeper tail risks can be difficult to price with confidence. The conversation then shifts to commodities, where Hari sees a differentiated opportunity set. We discuss how producer hedging, end-user demand, and forward-curve dynamics create a very different volatility ecosystem than that in equities. He outlines a strategy focused on gaining long exposure to select commodities while using options structures to reduce carry costs and preserve upside convexity. We close with a discussion on cross-asset dislocations, the recent divergence between oil, gold, and equities, the role of commodities in a world where bonds may be less defensive, and how AI tools are accelerating research, customization, and hypothesis testing across markets. I hope you enjoy this episode of the Alpha Exchange, my conversation with Hari Krishnan.
King Charles heads to Washington at a moment of extraordinary tension. The visit comes just days after an assassination attempt on President Donald Trump - and against the backdrop of a deepening war in Iran, strained UK-US relations, and growing questions about America's global role.In this episode of The Fourcast, Krishnan Guru-Murthy asks whether Britain's most powerful tool, soft power, can hold up in the face of Trump's unpredictable politics. From attacks on the UK Prime Minister and British troops, to disputes over sovereignty and trade, how should the King navigate a meeting with a president who thrives on disruption?Krishnan is joined by Julie Montagu, Countess of Sandwich, Liberal Democrat Europe spokesperson Al Pinkerton, and former UK ambassador to the US Sir David Manning to discuss what's at stake, and whether this royal visit can steady the so-called “special relationship,” or risk making things worse.
You thought you'd dealt with it. You thought you'd moved on. And then something brought it all back — and you realised you haven't moved as far as you thought. Why is forgiveness so hard? And why does it keep coming undone even when you've tried? In this message, Vijay Krishnan introduces two words that reframe the entire conversation — debt and blood. He unpacks why forgiveness isn't just a choice you make once, why the instinct to hold out for payment is more human than we want to admit, and why something that happened 2,000 years ago outside Jerusalem is still the most powerful answer to the question we can't shake. This is Week 3 of Questions You Can't Shake — a series tackling the questions people carry around but rarely ask out loud.

In this episode of the Innovations and Clinical Implementation podcast recorded at LongevityFest 2025, hosts Dr. Lexi Gonzales and Jessica Carter discuss functional liver health with Dr. Kiran Krishnan—a research microbiologist and globally recognized expert on the human microbiome and co-founded Microbiome Labs. Dr. Krishnan argues that standard enzymes like AST and ALT are late-stage markers of damage, and instead advocates for proactive support using Dose, a clinically validated liquid therapeutic that serves as a foundational tool for metabolic health and reduces pill burden. The conversation explores the vicious cycle between liver dysfunction and dysbiosis—where "leaky gut" increases endotoxin load (measurable via LBP and HDL3) and reduced bile flow drives SIBO—and explains that Dose is uniquely formulated without black pepper to ensure curcuminoids are metabolized locally by the liver for repair rather than being shunted into systemic circulation. Professor Armin Krishnan, an expert in security studies and emerging technologies, discusses the transition toward fifth-generation warfare, where conflict shifts from physical battlefields to psychological manipulation and societal destabilization. Krishnan describes how non-kinetic methods, such as information warfare and digital surveillance, allow actors to achieve political goals without traditional military force. The conversation also explores the chilling possibilities of neurowarfare and directed energy weapons, citing Havana Syndrome as a potential example of remote cognitive interference. Additionally, he examines the rise of a technocratic “shadow government” that utilizes biometrics, AI targeting, and autonomous robotics to enforce control. Ultimately, Krishnan warns that these advancements are leading toward a totalitarian era where the boundaries between the state, technology, and the human body are increasingly blurred. If you've ever felt distant from God or struggled to feel His presence in prayer, this message is for you. In Week 2 of The Prayer Lab, Vijay Krishnan explores how to pray when God feels far away. Looking at Psalm 139 and introducing the Prayer of Examen, this message offers a practical way to reconnect spiritually and become more aware of God's presence in everyday life. Many people ask: Why don't I feel close to God? Is God really with me? How do I reconnect through prayer? This teaching shows how reflective prayer can help you see where God has already been at work in your life — and how He may be closer than you think.

Welcome to Exponential View, the show where I explore how exponential technologies such as AI are reshaping our future. I've been studying AI and exponential technologies at the frontier for over ten years. Each week, I share some of my analysis or speak with an expert guest to make light of a particular topic. To keep up with the Exponential transition, subscribe to this channel or to my newsletter: https://www.exponentialview.co/ ----- In this episode, I sit down with my friend Rohit Krishnan - writer of the Substack newsletter Strange Loop Canon - for a hands-on conversation about what it actually looks like to build with AI agents today. Between us we're burning through tens of billions of tokens a month - I hit nearly 100 million in a single day this week - and we share what we're each running on our own machines. We dig into the quirks and surprising power of tools like OpenClaw, Claude Code, and Cowork, debate why AI remains stubbornly bad at good writing, and zoom out to ask what a world of trillions of agents might actually look like — and what economic infrastructure it will need. We covered: (03:15) What's on your screen right now? (04:30) OpenClaw (06:27) Rohit's agent, Morpheus (11:06) Azeem's agent, R. Mini Arnold (19:25) The analyst is now a machine (22:36) 100 million tokens in a day: the new normal (24:44) Building tools to improve AI writing: Horace and Broca (32:19) Why writing is the hardest eval for LLMs (39:18) Towards a trillion agents (42:09) The agentic economy: coordination, identity, and exchange (46:33) How to get started with OpenClaw (51:18) The hardest leap for new users ----- Where to find me: Exponential View newsletter: https://www.exponentialview.co/ Website: https://www.azeemazhar.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/azhar/ Twitter/X: https://x.com/azeem Production by EPIIPLUS1 Production and research: Baba Films, Chantal Smith, Marija Gavrilov. As global supply chains fracture, AI reshapes productivity, and technology becomes a core instrument of national power, India is making an ambitious push to redefine its role in the world economy from IT services provider to deep tech superpower. In the season 2 premiere of TechSurge, host Sriram Viswanathan brings together three defining perspectives to examine how India is positioned to become a global leader in frontier technologies, and what must go right for that vision to succeed. The episode begins with S. Krishnan, Secretary at India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, who outlines how India is treating deep tech as national infrastructure. From the India Semiconductor Mission and AI compute investments to the new RDI (Research, Development & Innovation) framework, Krishnan explains how long-horizon industrial policy is being used to derisk private capital, strengthen domestic design and manufacturing, and accelerate commercialization.Next, former G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant places India's technology ambitions in a global context. As post-WWII institutions weaken and supply chains are redrawn, Amitabh argues that India's decade of structural reforms, digital public infrastructure, and global partnerships has created a historic opening, if India can sustain free enterprise, execution discipline, and state-level reform. Finally, T.K. Kurien, CEO and Managing Partner of Premji Inves, brings the investor and operator lens. Kurien explores why India has excelled at services and business-model innovation but lagged in core technology creation and what it will take to build globally dominant deep tech companies. From patient capital and university-led innovation to focused national bets in AI applications, biotech, and semiconductors, he outlines the path from ambition to execution.Across policy, geopolitics, and capital, one message is clear: India's deep tech future will not be decided by vision alone but by alignment between government direction, private risk-taking, and long-term discipline. If you enjoy this episode, please subscribe and leave us a review on your favorite podcast platform.Sign up for our newsletter at techsurgepodcast.com for updates on upcoming TechSurge Live Summits and future Season 2 episodes.Episode LinksIndia Semiconductor Mission (MeitY): https://www.meity.gov.in/India AI Mission & AI Kosh: https://indiaai.gov.in/National Research Foundation & RDI Scheme: https://anrf.gov.in/Premji Invest: https://www.premjiinvest.com/Timestamps00:00 India's Deep Tech Inflection Point02:05 Industrial Policy as National Infrastructure06:52 Why Government Must Catalyze Product Innovation Beyond IT Services09:13 Building the Ecosystem: Talent, Research, Diaspora Return & Startup Scale13:10 India Semiconductor Mission (ISM): What's Different This Time24:56 ISM 2.0 Plans: Fixing Design Incentives & Unlocking Risk Capital27:15 IndiaAI Mission Explained: Compute, Data (AI Kosh) & Model Development33:09 Global Order Shifts: Supply Chains, Tech Power & Introducing Amitabh Kant41:19 Alliances That Matter: China, Europe/Japan Partnerships & Why the US Is Key54:11 How Government Can Take Risk: Fund-of-Funds, R&D Incentives, and Grand Challenges57:07 Dismantle Red Tape, Build World-Class Infrastructure, 01:00:57 Why Premji Invest Focused on Growth Stage (and What Changed for Early Stage)01:03:16 India vs US Investing: Where Returns Come From and Avoiding Valuation Hype01:05:28 Building India's Startup Ecosystem: Capital, Patience, and Core Tech vs Business Models01:13:41 Three Sectors to Bet On: AI Software/Agents, Biotech Breakthroughs, and Pragmatic Semiconductors
Send a textGrades get the spotlight; the child gets the shadow. We sit down with Manoj Krishnan, founder of the Compass Team, to unpack a different way of helping students thrive—through comprehensive assessments that look at emotional health, cognition, speech and language, hearing, nutrition, and more. Instead of chasing scores and hype, Manoj shows how early, standardized screening plus thoughtful guidance can bring students into the mainstream, reduce stigma, and help families and schools act with clarity. The journey wasn't glamorous. Manoj shares how he moved from corporate roles into social impact, why awareness was the hardest hurdle, and what it took to convince principals and parents to trade a little class time for long-term gains in well-being and behavior. We hear real stories—like a child who needed months of speech therapy after mimicking cartoon voices, and a teen pushed toward engineering who found his calling in psychology—and the data behind them: tens of thousands of students screened, with up to 40% showing hidden issues that needed attention. We also dive into career guidance that respects both interest and aptitude, pushing back on the “scope” mindset. Not everyone should code, and that's healthy for a society that needs pilots, nurses, technicians, artists, and teachers. For aspiring change-makers, Manoj lays out a practical playbook: build a rainy-day fund, hire people better than you, keep a tight handle on finances, market with integrity, and be prepared for a marathon. Tech and AI can help, but presence matters—especially for first assessments where context and body language count.Along the way, we talk responsible citizenship at home: finish the water you open, take smaller portions to cut waste, switch off lights and fans, queue with consideration—small acts that build the mindset required for inclusive classrooms and stronger communities. Post‑pandemic, Manoj's team is rebuilding with Aspender, a platform supporting learners from grade one to professional life with skills, placements, and holistic development. If you care about mental health in schools, better career fit, and change that lasts, this conversation will give you both a map and the motivation to start. If this resonated, follow the show, share it with a friend, and leave a review—what's one small change you'll try this week?Have you purchased the copy of Inspire Someone Today, yet - Give it a go geni.us/istbook Available on all podcast platforms, including, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, Spotify
Have you ever tried to pray… and run out of words? Maybe you feel awkward, distracted, guilty for not praying more, or unsure if God is even listening. You're not alone. In this first message of The Prayer Lab, Vijay Krishnan explores why prayer feels so instinctive — and yet so difficult. If you've ever wondered: Why pray if God already knows everything? What do I say when I run out of words? Does prayer actually make a difference? This message reframes prayer as relationship, not performance — and shows how Jesus' words in the Lord's Prayer can help us pray in everyday language. Prayer isn't about getting it right. It's about starting.

How did the arrival of colour and film technology transform cinema and its cultural politics? Laurie Taylor explores the intertwined histories of technology, aesthetics, and identity.Swarnavel Eswaran, filmmaker and scholar at Michigan State University, introduces us to the remarkable story of Kodak Krishnan – Eastman Kodak's “man from the East.” Krishnan played a pivotal role in bringing American film technology to India during the mid-20th century, a period when cinema was becoming a powerful medium for shaping ideas of modernity and national pride.Kirsty Sinclair Dootson, Associate Professor in the History of Art department at University College London, is one of the organisers of the Bombay Colour Research Network. Her book The Rainbow's Gravity asked how new colour media transformed the way Britain saw itself and its empire between 1856 and 1968. Her research also examines how colour technologies – from early tinting processes to the vibrant palettes of Bollywood musicals became part of debates over race, class, and cultural representation. Kirsty Sinclair Dootson is one of the academics who has been a New Generation Thinker, on the scheme run by the BBC and the Arts and Humanities Research Council to share research on radio. Sam Krishnan is back to answer my ten questions! He gives me his "boring answer" (his words!) to the question "Who is your favourite Heartbreaker other than Tom?" and then gives me his deep cut answer. He also surprised me with his answer to which artist he'd like to see cover a Tom Petty song. Today's episode is another bonus artist conversation that I had with a young French songwriter who's currently based in England, performing under the name “Bye Lily”. Sam Krishnan started out thinking he was probably going to become a rapper, but through a circuitous route, that we discuss, found his way around to Tom Petty, the guitar, and a very contemporary spin on indie folk music. Sam's debut EP, Voicenotes, features a tribute song to Tom which includes a blazing guitar solo from Jake Thistle. We chatted for a good couple of hours and the first part of this conversation is what you'll be listening to today and as always, I've split out his answers to my ten questions which will drop tomorrow!Song and links mentioned in the episode:My Hero : https://youtu.be/TeFCs0gy3KEVoicenotes EP : https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mdsxl9PR7h0oBcEB_wRJbLDa_5j3s8XmMBuy the EP at Bandcamp : https://byelily.bandcamp.com/album/voicenotesFollow me on social media, like, subscribe, and please, leave a rating if you like the show.Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thetompettyprojectBluesky: https://twitter.com/TomPettyProjectInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/thetompettyprojectYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@thetompettyprojectBoneless Podcast Network : https://boneless-catalogue-player.lovable.appThe theme song is provided by my very best friend Randy Woods. Armin Krishnan is an Associate Professor and Director of Security Studies at East Carolina University, where he teaches foreign policy, international security, and intelligence studies. He has received his MA in Political Science, Sociology, and Philosophy at Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich in 2001, his MA in Intelligence and International Relations at the University of Salford, UK, in 2003, and his PhD in Security Studies at the University of Salford, UK, in 2006. He has worked as a Research Associate at the University of Southampton, UK, before joining the University of Texas at El Paso in 2009 to teach in the Intelligence and National Security Studies program as a Visiting Assistant Professor. In 2013 he joined the Department of Political Science of East Carolina University as a tenure-track faculty. He is the author of many journal articles and six books on different aspects of contemporary warfare, such as military service contracting, autonomous weapons systems, targeted killings, neurowarfare, paramilitary operations, and fifth generation warfare. His current research interests include the political and military implications of blockchain technology, the Havana Syndrome, and hyperwar.
National security and intelligence expert Professor Armin Krishnan returns to the program to break down the rapidly expanding world of directed-energy weapons—systems once written off as science fiction that are now actively shaping modern conflict. He explains how microwave, electromagnetic, and acoustic weapons have moved from experimental prototypes to commercially booming tools of warfare, driven by governments and private defense contractors alike. These technologies are no longer theoretical; they are part of an accelerating global arms race.Krishnan also warns that today's battlefield is no longer limited to militaries. Civilians are increasingly the targets, whether in political hotspots, urban environments, or covert operations where deniability is essential. We explore how this shift in warfare—from fighting soldiers to influencing, disabling, or monitoring populations—signals a profound transformation in national security. This is a conversation for anyone who wants to understand the future of conflict and the technologies quietly reshaping it.See Armin Kirshnan's books including his most recent "Havana Syndrome: A Threat to National Security" at https://www.amazon.com/s?k=armin+kirshnan&i=digital-text&crid=2AM4B6N48QFED&sprefix=armin+kirshnan%2Cdigital-text%2C127&ref=nb_sb_noss_1Links and Offers:See exclusives at https://SarahWestall.Substack.comProtect your assets with a company you can trust - Get the private & better price list - Go to https://SarahWestall.com/MilesFranklinMasterpeace: Protect your body, Remove Heavy Metals including Graphene Oxide and Plastics, and learn more about removing MAC IDs at https://masterpeacebyhcs.com/shop/?ref=11308Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Sriram Krishnan is a venture capitalist who once served as general partner at Andreessen Horowitz. Now, he serves as White House Senior Policy Advisor for AI, where he has helped to develop President Trump's American AI Action Plan. In a live interview with The Conversation host Dasha Burns at POLITICO's AI & Tech Summit, Krishnan discussed what it takes for the United States to win the AI race, how the White House wants to keep “wokeness” out of government-funded AI, and how artificial intelligence will be harnessed, regulated, and contested in the years ahead. “We want to make sure that our ecosystem has market share, and if [China's] Huawei gets market share that means revenue, that means usage, it makes their chips better, it makes them set up to start exporting to other countries,” Krishnan said. Krishnan explains that the era of artificial intelligence is still very new, and while it closely resembles the early days of the internet, the Trump White House is working to make sure everyday Americans can make good use of the technology. “What I think about is how do we get more of what people here are seeing, which is AI making your lives better, making your work better and figuring out how to get us to economic prosperity.” Plus, Playbook managing editor and in-house UK expert Jack Blanchard breaks down the significance of Trump's unprecedented second state visit to Great Britain and the president's close relationship with prime minister Keir Starmer.
