It was awarded a R150 million deal by the department to provide communications services with regards to the National Health Insurance and Covid-19. The company is owned by a close associate of the Minister of Health, Zweli Mkhize, who is on special leave pending investigations, notably into the awarding of the contract. Writing in the Daily Maverick today, Myburgh says Scorpio has found that R1 million was siphoned off from the deal to help establish a new hair salon and an upmarket nail franchise owned by the minister's son and daughter-in-law. Two close associates of Health Minister Zweli Mkhize and other third parties are allegedly at the centre of a questionable communications deal from the department of health.  Digital Vibes is an obscure firm controlled by his former personal spokesperson, Tahera Mather, and Naadhira Mitha, his former personal assistant. It received an R150 million for services linked to the department's National Health Insurance programme and government's fight against Covid-19. The Special Investigating Unit has launched as investigation into a tender which the national Department of Health awarded to a small company that is allegedly linked to close associates of Health Minister Zweli Mkhize. The department appointed Digital Vibes, a small KwaZulu-Natal- based communications company, in late 2019 through a contentious closed tender to provide communications services for the government's National Health Insurance (NHI) roll-out. The scope of work was extended in March 2020 to include communications services for Covid-19. To date, the firm obtained orders from the department for Covid-19 projects valued at more than R82-million. We spoke to investigative Journalist at the Daily Maverick, Pieter-Louis Myburgh, who broke the story.

A group of disgruntled ANC secretary general Ace Magashule’s loyalists interrupted the book launch in Johannesburg on Thursday evening. The group from the Free State brought the event to a standstill as they stormed Exclusive Books in Sandton. Their presence resulted in the store's employees removing copies of Myburgh's book from the shelves.

Ons het ook oor fopnuus gesels en hoe aanspreeklikheid lyk binne die joernalistieke wêreld. Pieter-Louis se passie vir die geskiedenis is ’n groot motivering vir hoekom hy skryf en baklei vir ’n beter toekoms in Suid Afrika. Sy konstante soeke vir die waarheid is aansteeklik en sy honger om boelies aan te vat met dit is iets wat ek dink elkeen van ons by hom kan leer.
