Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Dean Macpherson has welcomed the resignation of Independent Development Trust (IDT) CEO Tebogo Malaka, who was suspended following allegations of attempting to bribe a journalist. Macpherson had laid criminal charges against Malaka and spokesperson Phasha Makgolane, citing "sickening" corruption attempts. The move comes after a video surfaced showing Malaka and Makgolane allegedly offering R60,000 to Daily Maverick Investigative journalist, Pieter-Louis Myburgh to suppress negative reporting. Macpherson has requested the IDT board investigate all contracts issued under Malaka's leadership and vowed to restore integrity to the entity. Quel a été le rôle de l'État français dans le déclin des langues locales en France ? Rozenn Milin a mené un travail d'enquête de près de dix ans. Rozenn Milin a travaillé pendant sept ans sur le déclin des langues minoritaires en France et ailleurs dans le monde. L'autrice, née en Bretagne, a été marquée par son histoire familiale. Petite, elle a vu les adultes autour d'elles d'exprimer en breton, sauf lorsque ces derniers s'adressaient aux enfants. Elle s'est alors demandée pourquoi cette langue était-elle « interdite » aux enfants ? À ce moment-là, il y avait plus d'un million de locuteurs du breton. Aujourd'hui, il ne reste que 107 000 locuteurs, selon la dernière étude menée en 2024.  Elle a découvert que toute une génération avait été interdite de parler le breton à l'époque. L'école a joué un rôle prépondérant : les enfants devaient parler le français et étaient sévèrement punis lorsqu'ils parlaient une autre langue que le français : ils étaient alors humiliés et devaient porter le « symbole » un objet lourd, type un sabot de bois, autour du cou.
