Mariska van der Klis is presentatrice, redacteur en relatie- en scheidingscoach. Ze werkte voor programma's als ‘Pauw' en ‘Jinek'. In 2009 verscheen haar eerste boek ‘Ja, ik wil!', waarin zij openhartig vertelt over keuzes maken, eerlijkheid, accepteren en andere lastige beslissingen in het leven. Nu komt zij met haar nieuwste boek ‘Finisterre'. Nadat haar jarenlange relatie abrupt ten einde kwam, besloot ze de duizend kilometer lange Via de la Plata te gaan lopen. Jeroen De Pauw is het type TV chef die je doet honger krijgen. Zijn recepten zijn haalbaar om thuis te maken, maar uitdagend genoeg om het boeiend te houden. Net zoals zijn tv programmas. 100% zichzelf, 100% rock en roll en het spat van het scherm af: hij houdt 100% van lekker eten. Deze chef ging naar de hotelschool, werkte in restaurants zoals Comme Chez Soi en Hof Van Cleve, en ging daarna op tour, de wereld rond met artiesten zoals Axelle Red en Hooverphonic. Hij begon een side-gig als TV chef bij de VRT en na wat omzwervingen via VTM en TMF kwam hij bij njam terecht. Hij is ook nog auteur van verschillende kookboeken, ambassadeur voor onder meer Domo en Delhaize en opende in 2018 -long over due- zijn eigen zaak Canape in Tervuren. Contributor: Aaron Lessen MD Educational Pearls: Epinephrine is essential in the treatment of anaphylaxis, but is epinephrine dangerous from a cardiovascular perspective? A 2024 study in the Journal of the American College of Emergency Physicians Open sought to answer this question. Methods: Retrospective observational study at a Tennessee quaternary care academic ED that analyzed ED visits from 2017 to 2021 involving anaphylaxis treated with IM epinephrine. The primary outcome was cardiotoxicity Results: Out of 338 patients, 16 (4.7%) experienced cardiotoxicity. Events included ischemic EKG changes (2.4%), elevated troponin (1.8%), atrial arrhythmias (1.5%), ventricular arrhythmia (0.3%), and depressed ejection fraction (0.3%). Affected patients were older, had more comorbidities, and often received multiple epinephrine doses. Bottom line: All adults presenting with anaphylaxis should be rapidly treated with epinephrine but monitored closely for cardiotoxicity, especially in patients with a history of hypertension and those who receive multiple doses. These results are supported by a 2017 study that found that 9% (4/44) of older patients who received epinephrine for anaphylaxis had cardiovascular complications. Vera describes the impact she felt the allegations published just before the World Cup in The Athletic about her time as manager of the Houston Dash - allegations which she denies - had on Ireland's World Cup campaign, and how she thinks she is now unemployable in the western world.
