We're so excited to welcome our friends, Rhonda & Jason Halbert (R.J. Halbert) to the podcast!Their story goes way back, as Jason first noticed Rhonda when he was just 8 years old, but they didn't start dating until high school. After about a year, Jason knew she was the one.Today, they are authors, creatives, entrepreneurs, and CEOs of a publishing company that has already signed a number of authors. As individuals, they each dislike the restrictions of following rules and are continuously Stepping Out of Line. It's simply a part of their DNA. R.J. Halbert's personal trauma led them to write a trilogy, journaling became such a powerful tool for processing emotions for Rhonda, and their books serve as a way to remember life's defining moments and remain grateful for the journey. In this episode of the Step Out of Line Podcast, “Faith, Creativity, And A Warm Bowl of Mac & Cheese,” we talk about faith, the supernatural strength that helps us face adversity, and the creative process, including how that final 5% of creativity can sometimes unlock the sum of a project, as well as Peri's upcoming author journey, The Peri Project, and more. While R.J. Halbert's books aren't a mirror to their own life experiences, the emotions behind them are. The Goodpasture Chronicles series may be fiction, but the heart of the story remains the same.We first connected with Jason when he appeared on the podcast in 2021, and we've all been friends ever since. Today, Rhonda and Jason are two of Peri's closest mentors, which made this conversation all the more special.

In honor of Valentine's Day, I wanted to make a meal for my favorite Valentine — my Aussie. I made a three-course, all plant-based, high-protein, high-fiber, all-Vegemite meal while wearing Sea Eagles shorts as an ode to how much I love my Aussie. The mac and cheese has:half the calories, and twice the protein as traditional. The plant-based Vegemite Caesar has: half the calories, and three times the protein. And the plant-based Vegemite ice cream has: twice the protein and even some fiber! This was my favorite episode ever to film, and the recipes are some of my best work. I truly hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Ever feel like your body is no longer your own after kids? Or like one more doctor visit will send you over the edge? You're not alone—and you're definitely not broken. In this episode, I'm catching up with Alana, a mom of two, and a rockstar Mindful Weight Loss Academy client who shares her raw, unfiltered story about losing 35 pounds WITHOUT giving up mac and cheese or Starbucks (umm, yes please). We're talking about her wild weight journey through pregnancies, how she bounced back from “rock bottom” moments, and what finally clicked for her when we started working together. We totally bust the myth that you have to cut out carbs, calorie count obsessively, or jump on those diet meds (yup, we talk Ozempic, too). Alana spills exactly how she shifted her mindset, ditched restriction, and started eating like a mindful badass instead—making small, sustainable tweaks that stuck for good.If you've tried ALL. THE. DIETS. and nothing sticks, or you're tired of starting over on Monday, Alana's story is your proof that it is. Grab your coffee (protein shake optional), hit play, and let's chat about how you can make weight loss work for real—without giving up the foods you love or your sanity.xoxo,JackieP.S. This live audience episode at The Perlant is dedicated to the art of food and wine pairings as we look forward to the holiday season. This episode is generously sponsored by the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, which has an incredible connection to this episode's featured guest and has supported his growth and journey from day one. Kevin Mobley, the Chef and Owner of Anna Bell's Kitchen, is honoring his great-grandmother, Anna Bell, by recreating, scaling, and perfecting her delicious recipe for southern Mac & Cheese. You'll hear how Kevin is building this business and maintaining the integrity of his family's recipe that is beautifully tied to a lot of historical context including an interesting throughline to Atlanta. We wanted to see how a group of fellow Atlanta wine professionals would approach the task of pairing wine to such a versatile yet classic dish, so we invited a panel of taste-testers to join us for a tasting who brought their talented, respected palates to the table for this discussion. You'll hear the “why” behind each of the wine pairings, you'll hear some of our favorite traditions of the holiday season, and you'll hopefully get some ideas for doing some wine pairings with your own friends and family at your holiday tables this year. We took a break from the jar this week to watch something new. Was it a joke or was it Joker: Folie a Deux? The world didn't need another jukebox musical or another Joker movie, so we decided it was more of a gag than a movie. What didn't make us gag was the talent of the actors and their ability to make something from the lackluster writing. That wasn't enough to get high praise from us. We have to say that the folie in this is definitely number two.

In the ever-evolving world of nutrition and food transparency, few have been more successful at peeling back the curtain on the food industry as Vani Hari, aka the "Food Babe." Vani believes we deserve the right to know what's in our food and she's taken steps to convince food companies to make major, important changes to their products. For example, she convinced Kraft to remove artificial food dyes from Mac & Cheese, Subway to remove all artificial flavors in their bread, and Starbucks to remove caramel color #4 from pumpkin spice lattes.
