Union to D'Vonne Pickett Jr. Way, we are airing this interview of D'Vonne Pickett Jr. on The AC Podcast from October 8, 2019. The interview took place at Black Dot Underground and was hosted by K. Every time we talk to a Seattle hooper the name David King is always mentioned when talking about the best to come out of the area. The powerful frame, Olajuwon-like footwork and incredible basketball hands is what most opponents rave about. He was key to the memorable and historic State Championship win in 1998 with Rainier Beach High School. Although his high school teammate was NBA Legend Jamal Crawford, it was David King with the post-game interview shouting that he was going to Disneyland after the victory. King will forever be loved and respected in Seattle, but we feel that he needs to be recognized in the entire basketball world. He has continued to be an important contributor to the game by both coaching high school basketball and running The CrawsOver as the director/commissioner. The Crossover is one of the most recognized Pro-Ams in the country and we get to hear all about it here. Great stories were shared about growing up in Seattle, the hoops scene in the City, a historic title run, Jamal Crawford, Douglas Wrenn-El, Doug Christie, LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, The CrawsOver, getting the Sonics back, coaching, and MUCH more!Don't sleep on this episode! David King was such an incredible guest and we are forever grateful for the experience. We had so much fun with him and we can see why he was so loved and respected by those who know him. We know you'll feel the same after hearing his story.Thank You David King!Be sure to support The CrawsOver and Rainier Beach High School basketball.Follow us on social media for news, updates and highlight reels!Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/notin.myhouse.79Instagram- @Not_in_my_house_podcastTwitter - @NOTINMYHOUSEpc

Guests: Rainier Beach HS football coach Corey Sampson, and Scott Laigo. Topics: 2021 recruiting and the year that was for Rainier Beach HS football. Rainier Beach high school football coach Corey Sampson joins us this week after a tremendously long year. A year that saw his football program play in the spring, followed by summer practices, and then another football season this past fall. It was an extremely successful season for his Beach Boys, that now encompasses his seniors going off to the next level. Coach Sampson has had a multitude of coaches come to talk to him about his players. We discuss that process and what it means to him. We also discuss one of his highly recruited players in the country, offensive lineman Josh Conerly Jr., his leadership on and off the field, and what he has meant to the locker room for the Rainier Beach football team. Corey's community work and fundraising are recognized, and he constantly demonstrates how important it is to give. This holiday season he hopes people will join him in giving back to the community. He discusses his Go Fund Me page: Coaches, Cops & Coffee. This page raises money and gives back to those who need it the most in their community. He has set the example not only to his players but his four kids who are in college. We discuss the impact of the late Derek Sparks and what he had meant to him and others. After saying bye to Coach Sampson, former coach and president of Student-Athletes Advocates Scott Laigo discusses this past recruiting period. The effects of the transfer portal, how the coaching carousel played a part in some of the decisions by major recruits, and what to look out for if you're a student-athlete trying to make commitment decisions. I can't thank the coaches enough for their time. Happy Holidays. Check out this interview and others on our NYSEA radio YouTube page.
