In Season 3 of The Ampersand Manifesto, Jessica Wan, executive coach & classical singer, interviews people who, similarly, have led "dual lives" for decades and succeed in two or more completely different worlds. This show explores how their multiple worlds – different as they may seem – collide, integrate, and fuel each other. Jessica's goal is to celebrate, elevate, and normalize these stories. Through these interviews, the goal is to co-create the Ampersand Manifesto, principles for leading a multi-passionate life. This season she talks with a range of folks who have written books, given talks and workshops worldwide, and invented new ways of connecting the world. Before being acquired by Capgemini, Rich Lyons was the Founder and CEO of Lyons Consulting Group. He joins on The Science of Business Development to share his story and the wisdom he's attained along the way. With a bachelor of science in Electrical engineering from Michigan and an MBA from Kelloggs, Rich shares some insight on the science behind getting started in sales."No one wants to do dials on Friday afternoon. So if you want to avoid that, you front load your week. Do them earlier in the week. It's no magic. If you don't have them done, then you better be dialing on Saturday and dial on Sunday. When you set your floors, you can have stretch goals, but make it every week. To me that's the science of at least getting started."Tune in more to hear Rich's journey from sales manager, to sales employee and eventually founder of his own company.
Rich Lyons became UC Berkeley's inaugural chief innovation and entrepreneurship officer in January 2020, having previously been dean of the Haas Business School for a decade. For the past two and a half years, he's been tying the ecosystem together in a way that makes everyone want to participate rather than forcing them to sign […]
The Federal Reserve could hike short-term interest rates to 4%, and that still might not be enough to cool inflation. Rich Lyons is the first Chief Innovation and Entrepreneurship Officer for the University of California, Berkeley. Before that, he spent a decade as the dean of Berkley's Haas School of Business. He joined Motley Fool Contributor Rachel Warren to discuss: - How the Federal Reserve could hit a “hard break” with higher interest rates - A venture capital view about the future of crypto - How universities are creating a generational tailwind for the economy Host: Rachel Warren Guest: Rich Lyons Producer: Ricky Mulvey Engineers: Dan Boyd, Brandon Gentry
"There are generational shifts that will drive innovation and entrepreneurship following a pending recession. Universities can fund world-changing solutions that will end-to-end support. UC Berkeley is revolutionizing how public and private sectors come together to foster entrepreneurship. Higher education accelerators play an integral role in fueling the investor ecosystem," says Rich Lyons.
Rich Lyons is the founder, CEO, and President of Lyons Consulting Group, the industry's premier eCommerce Digital Agency, and Global Commerce Service Provider. Rich teaches others how to scale and have a successful business, how to lead your team, and how to have a happier marriage. The secret? There is no secret. There is no one piece of advice that fits all. It takes hard work, consciousness, and community. On today's episode, Brian, Charlie, and Rich discuss the importance of teachers, walking the walk, and mentorship, enjoy!
What exactly does it mean to be the Chief Innovation and Entrepreneurship Officer at UC Berkeley? We wanted to find out, so we invited Rich Lyons to give us the scoop. Rich discusses the exciting initiatives he's involved in at Berkeley, including a bio-enginuity incubator, a research infrastructure commons, and the “Changemaker” course. Rich and Lee discuss how his work brings the university closer to the line between innovation and tradition in education— and how uncomfortable that makes people. Rich thinks a lot about conflicts of interest and how far he can reasonably push things at a prestigious university like Berkeley. Lee asks Rich about inflation and macroeconomics, and the two discuss what we can learn from that field of study.
