How do we get other people to share our values? It doesn’t get easier by ignoring that the problem is that difficult and pretending that it’s just technical. Coraline: It’s the responsibility of technologists to think about the social impact of the technical solutions they are making, whether that means by being better informed and striving to be generalists, or by making sure we are being inclusive and giving voice to people with different perspectives and levels of expertise on our teams to make sure we are addressing problems deeply and not just from one particular silo. Ashe: Understanding how we are looking at a problem ethically, how we’re looking at it technically, and how we’re looking at it from a human point of view? What are the potential effects? Brad: The laws of nature still exist in the absence of humans. Humans are the reason things are messy and complicated. From Manhattan to Santa Fe to Baton Rouge to Teaneck, New Jersey, Seth Freeman had been all over the country before middle school. He started singing and writing songs as a kid, and never stopped. He has written songs in dreams, on walks with dogs, or sitting with the guitar. After leaving New Jersey, Seth spent a number of years in Boston, where he graduated from Berklee School of Music, and got his main guitar, a unique vintage Gibson SG Special, for only 180 bucks off a guy from the Want Ad Press (this was pre-Craigslist era). It was out of Boston that he was signed to EMI with his band Little John and toured up and down the east coast. After a couple years in San Francisco with a new Little John lineup, Seth landed in Los Angeles, where he has been pursuing a solo career ever since. Seth has continued to write, record, and perform. He has also scored films, produced other artists, and had songs placed in movies and TV, as well as joining forces with other songwriters to form the bands Still Spark and College Girlfriend. Seth Freeman is now releasing a series of rocking and at times soul-searching solo EPs that he recorded over the course of the last year. The first of these EPs is  into Your Atmosphere . You can hear Seth live with the support of former Little John bandmate Stefano Capobianco on guitar and keys, Kelly King of Still Spark on drums, and producer Chris Zerby on bass.

Still Spark is the band to watch from Seth Freeman (Little John - EMI) & stellar songwriter Dan O'Leary. Their soon-to-be-released freshman record boasts knockout performances by Michael Eisenstein , Blair Sinta (Melissa Etheridge, Alanis Morrissette), Lawrence Katz (Mighty Mighty Bosstones), Joseph Karnes (Five for Fighting, Damien Rice), Linus Dotson (Nerf Herder, Palmdale), Gaby Moreno, and more. It is produced by Kay Hanley (Letters to Cleo, Palmdale, At first glance, the two guitars have little in common – one is splashed with boldly colored stickers and battered from years of touring, while the other is shiny and simple, with an air of innocence. Posed side by side, they would seem to suggest an unlikely meeting of very different worlds. And yet it's exactly this juxtaposition that has created the compelling and energized music of STILL SPARK. After meeting through a mutual friend, the seemingly unlikely pair of long-time musician Seth Freeman (formerly of Boston alt-rock band Little John) and aerospace engineer-turned-songwriter Dan O'Leary began collaborating on the songs that would eventually become Still Spark. Though they were inspired by diverse influences – everything from Van Morrison and Bob Dylan to Weezer and Nirvana – the two found their different backgrounds and styles nevertheless complement each other perfectly. The result is a collection of songs that range from the driving energy of the smirking first single “Love Comes Calling” to quieter, more introspective moments like “Heart O' Mine,” always bound with a common thread of lyrical storytelling and genuine emotion. Fueled by a successful Kickstarter campaign, the self-titled debut album from the Los Angeles-based duo will be released on March 1, 2011. It was produced by Kay Hanley Palmdale, Michael Eisenstein Blair Sinta Lawrence Katz (Mighty Mighty Bosstones), Joseph Karnes , Linus Dotson (Nerf Herder, Palmdale), Gaby Moreno, and more.
