Send Steve a Text MessageHey, everyone! Welcome to the Steve Stine Podcast. I'm your host Steve Stine, and today we're diving into five essential tips to improve your soloing skills on the guitar. We'll explore how to enhance your guitar tone for maximum comfort and confidence. We'll discuss making smooth connections across the fretboard, adding those little details—what I call "isms"—that bring authenticity to your playing. You'll also learn about giving your solos direction through chord connections and phrasing. Whether you're a beginner or have been playing for years, these tips are designed to help you elevate your guitar solos and make them sound more fluid and expressive. So grab your guitar, and let's get started on this musical journey together! Links: Steve's Channel → https://www.youtube.com/user/stinemus... Send Steve a Text MessageEver struggled to make your guitar solos soar? Look no further, because in this musical masterclass, I'll guide you through linking scales to chords to ensure your solos are always on point. We start by examining the A minor chord and its best friend, the A minor pentatonic scale. I'll show you how to accentuate chord tones, like the root note A, crafting solos that dance perfectly with the chord progressions. As we encounter new chords, I unveil strategies for navigating these changes, such as when to emphasize different notes within the same scale or when it might be time to switch scales to match the harmonic shifts. All of this comes alive on the fretboard, where I demonstrate how to glide from A minor to G major pentatonic scales without missing a beat. But what about those tricky non-diatonic progressions that threaten to throw you off your game? Fear not! I break down the process of playing over chords that don't fit neatly within one key. You'll learn how to stay flexible and move along the fretboard, experimenting with different positions whether you're shifting from A minor to G minor or A minor to A flat minor. Starting with simple exercises, you'll build the confidence to expand your soloing vocabulary and approach each progression with a positive mindset. So, grab your guitar, and let's get your solos flying high above the fretboard with finesse and musicality.Tune in now and learn more!Links:Steve's Channel → https://www.youtube.com/user/stinemus... For four decades, Nuno Bettencourt has been the lead guitarist and songwriter for the band Extreme. His style is so distinct that generations of guitar players have tried to sound just like him. In this career-spanning conversation, Nuno talks to Tom about Extreme, why a great guitar solo has nothing to do with how fast you can play or how proficient you are, and why Eddie Van Halen is his hero.

One of the highlights of any hard rock or metal song is when the guitarist (or keyboardist!) takes centre stage with a memorable solo that often transcends the song itself. In this episode of our In 40 Minutes series we have strung together some of our fave solo moments from studio recordings (with one live exception). Something's indeed comin' your way!!!! Send Steve a Text MessageHey there, Steve Stine here. In this episode of my guitar podcast, I wanted to share with you my approach to learning challenging guitar solos, using the example of "Warheads" by Extreme. As a guitarist, I know how frustrating it can be to tackle a difficult solo, especially when you're trying to stay true to the original while still making it your own.Throughout this episode, I break down my process for learning solos, from the initial listening stage to figuring out the notes and adapting the techniques to suit my own playing style. I emphasize the importance of finding a way to execute the solo that feels comfortable and natural to you, rather than trying to copy the original artist note-for-note.Using specific examples from the "Warheads" solo, I demonstrate how I modified certain licks and phrases to better fit my own playing, while still maintaining the essence of the original. I also discuss the realities of playing live and how that can influence the way you choose to play a solo.My goal with this episode is to encourage you to approach learning solos in a way that works for you, and to remind you that it's okay to make modifications and adaptations to suit your own style. Remember, you're not trying to be someone else – you're always going to be you, and that's what makes your playing unique. Links: Steve's Channel → https://www.youtube.com/user/stinemus... Send us a Text Message. In this episode I'm talking you through one of my favorite shapes on the neck. This two string version of the minor pentatonic scale is not only a great exercise, but it is also super useable within solos, improvisations and lead work.It start on the minor 7 of the scale rather than the root note so it opens up a whole new range of "jumping off' points for us. The 2nd single from Jason's forthcoming LP is out now. Singer-songwriter/drummer/multi-instrumentalist/producer Anthony LaMarca of The Building and The War on Drugs joined Jason to talk about the song and the album. The two friends and longtime cohorts discussed production, tracking at Peppermint Studios in Youngstown, OH, tempos, Anthony's sweet guitar solo on this song, the definition of the term "shralping", why the album took a long time to write and record, whether the demos are better than the album versions, songwriting, and a lot more. Plus, there's a bonus post-script detailing another of Jason's awkward interactions with a musician. Awesome contributions were made to this song by: Anthony Andrew Carlson Gary Rhamy D. Nick Nurse seems to hate Robert Covington. Why? We talk about Nick Nurse's personnel choices, Maxey's awesome game and Embiid's defense down the stretch. We also discuss three STARHUNTING options in Golden State, some interesting things that Joel Embiid said on Tyrese Maxey's podcast, and empty out some voicemails and emails about the dunking vs. soloing debate. Spike and Mike were drinking the entire podcast. The Sixers, without Maxey or Embiid, showed some fight and got a moral victory in Boston. We talk about the game, go star hunting in Atlanta and Orlando, bring back Relationship Advice, and have a big argument about whether you'd rather be able to dunk with ease, or do a sick guitar solo on demand.
