This week's show is sponsored by: EPIC-MRA Public Opinion Research MIRS News Fulton Fish Market Mike Lukovich-Atlanta Journal Constitution The “Underwater” episode of A Republic, If You Can Keep It isn't a tribute to Jacques Cousteau, Lloyd Bridges or the Navy's submariners … but the reality facing Donald Trump as he approaches the 100 day mark. At this point in his administration he's the most unpopular President this century. The only other president whose job approval has been this low after 100 days – Donald Trump in his first term. His 44% net approval is 10-to-20 points below the favorability ratings of Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama … and Joe Biden. There's a lot more in the politi-sphere this week: Another major candidate has joined Michigan Democrats' contest for U.S. Senate; There's a new justice on the Michigan Supreme Court, giving Democrats a 6-1 majority on the officially non-partisan bench; State Republicans have been forced into an awkward 180-degree shift on a controversial proposal for Chinese-owned industrial development in west Michigan; And southeast Michigan braces for an upcoming visit from America's best known convicted criminal – Donald Trump choosing Macomb County to take a bow for what he sees as a hugely successful first 100 days. Today, David Waldman and Greg Dworkin address the fundamental question consuming the attention of every true American this morning: Why doesn't KITM make a LOT more money? For the price of only 20,408 cups of coffee per episode, certain commentators and influencers at Tenet Media have had their days brightened, thanks to you… Well, not “you”, but “Vladimir Putin”. Of course, we KITM staff have way too much integrity and imposter syndrome to consider something like that, or any of my other suggestions... alas. So, let's pull up our lederhosen, wade through the schadenfreude, and look up some backpfeifengesicht out there, such as Tim Pool, Joshua Treviño, Ben Domenech, and Seth Mandel, but mostly Pat Toomey. Of course, one person's “punchable face” is another's “willing stooge”. With the Gop it is usually both. State Republicans have renominated 14 of their 84 fake electors and are finding ways to pay off the rest. Meanwhile, Liz Cheney has endorsed Kamala Harris for president. Burgermeister of backpfeifengesicht, Donald Trump is the world's most willing stooge, and ready to sell anything, especially himself, anywhere at any time. Unfortunately for Donald, his weaving ain't so tight anymore, and even MAGA is beginning to notice. If you know what accelerationists are, you can understand why they Telegram. By the way, today the nation is Under the Cloud of a Mass Shooting™.

March 1, 2024 ~ With the Michigan House split 54-54 at the moment, Republicans are looking for bipartisan support from Democrats on important legislation. State Rep. Jaime Greene (R-Richmond) talks with Guy and Lloyd about the need to implement the recommendations of a bipartisan school safety task force that's stuck in committee.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene says Georgia State Republicans need to enforce long passed ‘sanctuary city' laws in their own state stop pointing the finger at the Biden administration. “We could revisit every single American murder by an illegal alien, whether it's an actual murder, or whether they're killed in a car accident, whether they're killed by an illegal alien drinking and driving or doing drugs, whatever it is, or trafficking illegals across the state border that killed two of my constituents last year, every single time it happened, it shouldn't have happened. It was an it was avoidable. And you know, here in Georgia, I've gotten really tired of watching my Georgia Republicans here and in our state, pointing the finger at the Biden administration. When in the state of Georgia, we have a Republican governor, we have a Republican state legislator, and we have a Republican attorney general. And the fact that they passed a law years ago that we do not have sanctuary cities here in the state of Georgia. But yet at the same time, these same Republicans have turned their head and ignored the fact that Democrat-run cities like Athens and the city of Atlanta, do harbor illegal aliens, they choose to not prosecute them,” said the Georgia Congresswoman. Also, Williams, who announced a run for Attorney General today, tells how he, sitting in that position, will return accountability to Pennsylvania's criminal justice system. (Photo by Getty Images)

Trans youth are under severe attack around the country. Sixteen states have enacted laws restricting access to gender-affirming care for young people. At least 15 others are considering similar laws. Missouri is one of those states: State Republicans are pushing legislation that would ban transition-related surgeries, puberty blockers, and hormone therapy for young people, though unlike other states, the bill passed by the state senate allows those already undergoing treatment to continue receiving such care. Last week, the attack on trans people in Missouri escalated when the attorney general proposed new rules that would restrict gender-affirming healthcare for not only young people but adults as well. Rori Picker Neiss—the head of the Jewish Community Relations Council of St Louis and the mother of a trans son—is one of the people fighting back against Missouri's anti-trans legislation. Over the last several years, her family's life has been upended by repeated trips to the state capitol in Jefferson City to testify against such laws. Picker Neiss joined Jewish Currents editor-in-chief Arielle Angel to discuss the nationwide assault on trans rights, how her Jewish community has responded to such attacks, and what it's like talking to legislators who are trying to harm her child. Thanks to Jesse Brenneman for producing and to Nathan Salsburg for the use of his song “VIII (All That Were Calculated Have Passed).” ARTICLES MENTIONED“Everything That Happened in Anti-Trans Legislation This Week: April 15-21,” Trans Formations Project, THEM“The Anti-Trans Lobby's Real Agenda,” Jules Gill-Peterson, Jewish Currents“When Parents Hear That Their Child ‘Is Not Normal and Should Not Exist,'” Megan K.
