A law which stopped parents from publicly speaking about their children who were killed in violent circumstances has been abolished. An amendment to the Children’s Act came into effect yesterday after being signed off by the President and the Justice Minister last month. One of those affected by the law is Kathleen Chada whose two sons Eoghan and Ruairi were murdered by their father in 2013. According to a Kantar poll published in the Irish Independent this morning a significant majority of voters in the Republic of Ireland are in favour of a United Ireland but are not willing to pay extra to fund it. With this weekend coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the Partition of Ireland. Over three quarters of 25-34 years olds are in favour of a united Ireland, while over 60s shower a lower interest in seeing a united Ireland. History was made yesterday as Trinity College appointed its first female Provost in its 429 year history.
