This week on Open Sources Guelph, we're feeling the love. Yes, it's two days after Valentine's Day technically, but the love for covering hot button issues and concerning political trends burns strong. On the menu today is a variety of topics including a new conflict of interest scandal for the premier, and a new sex scandal for the Mayor of Toronto. Abroad, we will look at the latest developments around a year-long war, and the same old same old from the death cult that now runs the American legislature. This Thursday, February 16, at 5 pm, Scotty Hertz and Adam A. Donaldson will discuss: The Wedding Spinner. More conflict of interest news in Doug World last week as it was revealed that developers were invited to the Stag and Doe Party for Premier Doug Ford's daughter and her then-future husband. For people who already smell a rat when it comes to the Ontario government's handling of the Greenbelt, it's another clue that the fix was in for people looking to make a profit on land that was supposedly protected. How much longer can Ford laugh off these allegations? Mayor of Swingstown. It was a Friday night surprise when Toronto Mayor John Tory came out and announced that he's resigning his office after the Toronto Star exposed that Tory had an inappropriate relationship with a female staffer. It seems like a boneheaded move from the someone who was supposed to be the face of technocratic, business-like management at City Hall, so why did Tory screw up so badly, and does this provide Toronto a rare opportunity to examine what kind of mayor they want and need? The Post Dangerous Year. February 24 will mark one-year since the start of the full Russian invasion of Ukraine, and many people have an eye on Moscow to see if their planning a commemoration of sorts. Of course, the first anniversary is paper, but no one's expecting Russia to sign any piece of paper saying that they're ending their war efforts. Quite the contrary. So while we wait and see what Russia's next move is going to be, we will talk about the year's lessons for Russia and Ukraine's resiliency. Tech War. Last week, President Joe Biden gave the State of the Union, but the atmosphere screamed amateur night at Chuckle Hut. If this is your first encounter 118th Congress, you might be shocked, but the new team really showed their stuff at a series of hearings about the supposed bias against the right in big tech, which only ended up affirming that that no such bias exists and that platforms like Twitter went out of their way to not apply their own rules to GOP racists and conspiracy theorists. So does any of this matter? Open Sources is live on CFRU 93.3 fm and cfru.ca at 5 pm on Thursday.

This week he will preside over the City budget. Here's the thing: there is still a $933 million hole in the budget which the city wants other levels of government to help out with. Good afternoon panel! A couple of things from the past week. Last weekend, I had a listener meetup with Liz and friends to try my hand at pheasant hunting  Great to meet up with like minded individuals.  Had a great day, but no luck with the hunt. On my way to and from the hunting area, I thought that I would expand my listening library and take in some of the CCFR podcast episodes.  After listening to 4 episodes, I believe that I now have a better understanding of Rod Giltaca.  Or not.  It seems to me that one of the favourite subjects to speak on is "Things I have done".  I am sure that the CCFR as an organization does good work on behalf of Canadian firearms owners, but to paraphrase Adhemar from the movie "A Knight's Tale", the podcast has been weighed, has been measured, and has been found wanting.  Frankly, I expected a little more.  Thoughts on that? Secondly, another appropriate movie reference. My utter contempt and loathing for all things federal government related has been "turned up to 11", after the shenanigans pulled with C21 this past week.  Clearly the idiots in Ottawa do not know the difference between an "amendment" and a "complete rewrite"! (FYI, the movie was "This is Spinal Tap", if you were not aware) Looking forward to this week's discussion! Best Regards, Eric   From: Gerry RE: Amend This Episode Hello, I appreciate the effort and content you put in the podcasts, but the Amend This episode will be my last. Hearing a person refer to firearms as “weapons of mass destruction” and stating “you have the right to hunt even though you don't need to”  in this episode is counter productive and divisive to people who value freedom. The ability to take care of yourself or your family whether it be fishing, hunting or growing food is an essential skill worth learning and may be useful given the situation we face. Marksmanship and accuracy are worthwhile and respectable  pursuits that should join the sport shooting and hunting communities. The aforementioned commentary is neither accurate or respectable. Thank you for the past episodes and I wish you the best in future endeavours. Ontarians head to the polls on Oct. 24 to vote for their municipal governments. And while some storylines seems set—Toronto Mayor John Tory looks poised to win for a third time—races in Vaughan, Ottawa, Hamilton, Richmond Hill and Brampton are far less certain. The outcomes are even less predictable given how low voter turnout was in the province's 2018 municipal elections, when just 38 per cent of eligible voters cast their ballots. What does all this mean for Jewish voters? To analyze the issues, we're joined by Steve Adler, a lobbyist with the communications strategy firm NATIONAL. Adler previously worked around the Ontario legislature with the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs, and has been watching the 2022 municipal elections closely, including what's going on with various district school boards, which have become frequent battlegrounds between Zionists and Palestinian activists.
