Non Netflix n'est pas la seule plateforme de SVOD à proposer des séries TV Marvel. Hulu arrive dans le game et arrive fort avec la première saison de The Runaways. Une série qui mérite bien son épisode de MCU Talk ! Si vous nous écoutez depuis un moment vous l'avez remarqué : les séries Netflix ne nous excitent plus depuis un moment. Agents of SHIELD traîne en longueur et seul Legion trouve grâce à nos yeux. Alors tel Doctor Strange cherchant frénétiquement à soigner ses mains, nous fouillons partout pour trouver une nouvelle série susceptible de faire battre nos petits cœurs. Et si cette série était The Runaways ? L'approche teenage de l'univers Marvel n'est pas ce qui à le plus de chance de me faire vibrer, et pourtant... Bref vous connaissez la chanson : on débriefe après avoir fait le point sur toutes les actus du moment. (On a un peu traîné à sortir cet épisode donc désolé si vous trouvez les annonces un peu old). On fait le point sur Gifted, Captain Marvel, Cloak & Dagger et même Inhumans. Accrochez vous à vos slips, on envoie la musique !

Back before Iron Man was leading the Marvel Cinematic Universe to massive success, there was Brian K. Vaughn's Runaways. Originally planned to jumpstart the MCU the teen-focused series has finally made it to live-action. Telling the story of a group of high schoolers who happen upon their parents performing a secret ritual that leads them to discover their parents are actually villains. The teens come together to form their own odd Breakfast Club like "superhero" team. Comprised of the boy genius, tech inventor, telepathically dinosaur linked girl, a girl with massive strength, a magician, and a girl who has mysterious alien-like powers the teens aren't just forced to take on their parents but they are forced to get along with each other. Marvel's "Runaways" works best with its interaction between the kids and that is well mirrored with the parents interacting with their own group. Both teams are complex, well written and acted. Marvel's Runaways is yet another hit in the ever-growing MCU freight train. Jay and Demetrius sit down to discuss the newly released (in IMAX) 2 episode premiere of Marvel's "Inhumans." Telling the story of a royal family of aliens who reside in a hidden city on the moon, who work to keep themselves hidden from inhabitants of Earth. The show focuses on a breakdown in that royal family that involves a coup d'etat headed up by the king's own jealous brother. The rest of the royal family is forced to escape to the planet Earth, but their troubles are only just beginning. They must figure out their new home while fighting to regain the rightful place back in Attilan on the moon. The premiere episodes lay the ground work for a season that may have some potential, but that's merely speculative at this point. The footage shown in theaters was rather underwhelming but better than early buzz indicated. In 2015, Marvel and Netflix started us down this path with the first season of Daredevil starring Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil. From there we've had series focusing on Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Coulter), and most recently Iron Fist (Finn Jones). These shows have now finally brought together 4 unlikely personalities to team up Avengers style to take on a larger threat. The show is a departure from the four solo series by only being 8 episodes instead of their standard 13. This allows for the telling of a slightly tighter story but also puts some constraints on what the show can do in such a limited time frame. The team takes on a woman named Alexandra (Sigourney Weaver) who controls the evil organization, The Hand. She along with Elektra (Elodie Yung) aka The Black Sky work to further goals while trying to destroy New York City in the process. There are things that worked incredibly well in the series, such as Luke and Danny's budding friendship, but the series is also plagued by rushed writing and lack of quality action beats for certain characters. A valiant effort from Marvel Television, but improvements can be and should be made going forward. This review has a SPOILER section that is clearly stated for those who have not watched the season in its entirety. The building in which the company I work for rents space is also home to a coffee roaster, here in Minnesota, and  that process is a quite deceiving. Based on the end result, you'd expect that the whole roasting process would release luscious, intoxicatingly seductive scents. But it doesn't.
