Acefield Retro & Chad are your hosts for Episode 115 of Wrestling Tonight, breaking down an eventful week in pro wrestling that reshaped the landscape across AEW, WWE, and beyond. AEW Revolution delivered a night filled with high-stakes matches, career-defining performances, and major title implications. Jon Moxley retained his AEW World Championship in a hard-fought battle, but the night truly belonged to Toni Storm and Mariah May. Their Falls Count Anywhere match, billed as The Hollywood Ending, lived up to its name—an emotional, brutal, and visually stunning war that left the AEW Women's Division forever changed. Kenny Omega, in only his fourth match back from injury, reclaimed gold in a must-see battle with Konosuke Takeshita, while Will Ospreay and Kyle Fletcher turned their deeply personal rivalry into an all-time great steel cage match. Swerve Strickland cemented himself as the next World Title challenger after a grueling victory over Ricochet, setting the stage for what could be AEW's next marquee feud. The fallout from Revolution will no doubt define the company's direction in the months ahead. Meanwhile, WWE saw multiple title changes and a dramatic escalation on the road to WrestleMania 41. IYO SKY ended Rhea Ripley's dominant reign to capture the WWE Women's World Championship in a result that stunned fans. LA Knight recaptured the United States Title in a hard-hitting rematch against Shinsuke Nakamura, while Shawn Spears shocked NXT by seizing the North American Championship from Tony D'Angelo, taking advantage of a lingering injury. But the most talked-about moment came at Elimination Chamber, where John Cena's long-teased heel turn became reality. After aligning with The Rock, Cena left Cody Rhodes battered and bloodied in a post-match attack—but it was rapper Travis Scott who delivered the most unexpected blow. A stiff slap to Rhodes ruptured his eardrum, raising questions about whether Cody will be at full strength heading into his WrestleMania 41 title defense. Over on SmackDown, another long-running mystery was finally solved. Jade Cargill made her return and confronted Naomi, revealing her as the one who had attacked her months ago. With the truth finally out, Jade wasted no time in seeking revenge, setting the stage for an intensely personal showdown in the near future. Elsewhere, the WrestleMania 41 build continues to take shape. CM Punk and Seth Rollins are set to collide in a steel cage match, The Rock's presence looms large over the title picture, and AJ Styles is ready to call out Logan Paul in what promises to be a heated confrontation at Madison Square Garden. Beyond WWE and AEW, the wrestling world remains in motion. TNA is making moves with the return of Chavo Guerrero Jr., the exit of Alex Hammerstone, and Eddie & Alisha Edwards committing to long-term deals. Cora Jade is set to challenge Masha Slamovich for the Knockouts Title at Sacrifice, while NJPW's championship landscape continues to evolve with Yuji Nagata stepping into a rare IWGP World Heavyweight Title match. Meanwhile, Zack Sabre Jr. is gearing up for a loaded WrestleMania weekend schedule, making multiple high-profile GCW appearances. And as for Travis Scott—was Elimination Chamber a one-off cameo, or is WWE positioning him for something bigger? His unexpected role in Cody Rhodes' brutal beatdown has sparked speculation that his involvement in WWE may not be over just yet. With AEW's Revolution reshaping the company's landscape, WWE's WrestleMania build reaching new levels of intensity, and TNA and NJPW making key moves, this is a week packed with major developments. In 1994, Hulk Hogan made the leap from the WWF to WCW (with a short hiatus in between). We've covered the end of Hogan's WWE career in previous podcasts and now we're touching on the beginning of his WCW career as he FINALLY goes one-on-one with "Nature Boy" Ric Flair for the WCW Title. This match has been talked about for years and years, built up since Flair joined the WWF in late 1991, and it never happened...until now! Also on this card, "Stunning" Steve Austin defends his United States Title against Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, the (VERY) odd couple of Cactus Jack and Kevin Sullivan defend the WCW Tag Titles against Pretty Wonderful, Dustin Rhodes puts his trust in tag-team partner Arn Anderson as they face Terry Funk and Bunkhouse Buck, Vader faces the newly crowned Guardian Angel, and Lord Steven Regal puts the TV Title on the line against the baaaad man, Johnny B. Badd! In the news, we discuss the ongoing steroid trial between the WWF and US Government, Undertaker vs. Undertaker at SummerSlam being spoiled by early advertisements on pizza boxes, the SMW champion no-showing and causing issues, and much, much more! This is one of the best shows from this era of WCW and one of the greatest Great American Bash shows of all time! Your hosts, Troy & Greg, have personally seen this show 3-4 times. It was Sting's crowning achievement of FINALLY beating Ric Flair to sit atop the mountain as the WCW World Heavyweight Champion. The future Undertaker, "Mean" Mark Callous, also takes on Lex Luger for Luger's United States Title. This was actually Mark's "audition" for the WWF, which we discuss on the podcast. The NWA World and United States Tag Titles are on the line in matches. Vader debuts for WCW against the Z-Man. There are quite a few outdated things on this show that may make you cringe and...oh yeah...El Gigante debuted. But, other than that...this was pretty great! Also, in the news, WCW may be losing Ric Flair very soon, they can't get rid of the Iron Sheik, Terry Gordy & Steve Williams are trying to come in as a tag-team, everything is coming up Milhouse for the WWF, there are some big talent trades going on in Japan, and much more! THAT'S RIGHT! IT'S BATTLE BOWL! What does that mean? It means we're getting 30 matches on 1 freaking pay-per-view. Will they mean anything? Sure, if you think "randomly" selecting tag partners to face off until they finally get into a mid-card battle royal where the prize is a literal ring...then yeah, it means something. Besides that, we've got Dean Malenko putting his Cruiserweight Title on the line against Brad Armstrong (older brother of Road Dogg), Konnan defending the United States Title against Jushin Thunder Liger, and The Giant defending his World Heavyweight Title against Sting. While WCW was about to hit a super hot period, you couldn't necessarily tell by this card. It's okay, though, because we spice it up and have a lot of laughs! Meanwhile, in the news, we discuss Nitro going to 2 hours, a stacked Great American Bash card coming up (now in our archives), Scott Hall and Kevin Nash making waves, Japan thinking they've got a new giant to promote, WWF signing a crap ton of jobbers and also signing one of the future biggest stars in the history of the business. Finally, after subjecting ourselves to over a dozen of the worst professional wrestling shows ever made, The Year of Duke and Rogue Podcast is back and we're covering Greed, the final ever WCW pay per view. The Nature Boy Ric Flair is still running the company on air, and on this show he'll be teaming up with The Chosen One Jeff Jarrett to take on the father-son combo of The American Dream Dusty Rhodes and The Artist Formerly Known As Goldust in a "Loser Has to Kiss the Winner's Ass" match. Dusty's been loading up on the burritos backstage, so the masters of the figure four leglock better watch out. Elsewhere, there's some brand new championships just in time for the last big show as WCW introduces the Cruiserweight Tag Team Titles. Backstage Buff Daddy's been roaming around with a camera guy getting all the great takes from the back as a mystery assailant causes trouble for the Magnificent Seven. In the main event Scott Steiner defends the WCW World Heavyweight Championship against DDP while his brother Rick defends the United States Title against Booker T. There's some decent action in this one, but there's a lot of throwaway material as well. Within a week of this broadcast, a decision was made to discontinue Nitro and Thunder on Ted Turner's networks. Anyone familiar with the story knows that Vince McMahon swooped in and bought out his competition, effectively ending the Monday Night War, though it hadn't been much of a war in recent times. We'll be covering the final week of WCW on our season finale next time around, followed by a recap episode where we attempt to make sense of the most nonsensical chapter of professional wrestling probably ever. We'll also be previewing where we're going next, and it's with great joy and a sense of relief that we're finally moving on to something different. Moment of silence for World Championship Wrestling.... Thanks for the memories.
WWE Raw 2/20/23 review with JDfromNY. Austin Theory puts his United States Championship on the line against WWE Hall of Famer Edge. Following his victory in the United States Championship Elimination Chamber match, Theory issued an open challenge which was answered by Edge. Edge is determined to win his first title since his initial retirement in 2011 and will be bringing his A-game to the ring. Also, Dolph Ziggler will face off against Mustafa Ali in a one-on-one match. Ali has become increasingly frustrated with his role in WWE and has targeted Ziggler, believing that the former world champion is constantly handed opportunities. Ziggler, on the other hand, has urged Ali to concentrate on showcasing his talents in the ring and has accepted the challenge to prove his point. As we approach WrestleMania 39, the card for the two-night show in Los Angeles will begin to take shape. Will Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley collide again in April after their trilogy bout ended in disqualification? Where does Bray Wyatt fit in after his cryptic challenge on SmackDown? And could we see a clash between Seth Rollins and Logan Paul at SoFi Stadium, after the YouTuber attacked "The Visionary" during the U.S. title Elimination Chamber match? We'll be discussing all of these possibilities and more during our WWE Raw full show review for February 20th, 2023 with JDfromNY.
Rosenberg and Dip recap the 'WWE Raw' 30th anniversary and discuss the following: The Trial of Sami Zayn (6:40) The Undertaker returning as the American Badass (10:53) Brock Lesnar costing Bobby Lashley the United States Title (12:37) Charlotte Flair evolving as a face (24:35) Bryan Danielson vs. Bandido recap (31:57) Plus Royal Rumble predictions, Black Power Rankings, and mailbag. #RawCast: Bloodline TakeOver - @DonDelarente and @Mo_Rease share their commentary with color on this week's edition of Monday Night Raw, which featured Seth Rollins vs Austin Theory for the United States Title
One of the taglines for this event was, "Glory Bound." There was nothing glorious about this one as Dusty Rhodes tries to out-shine the main event cage match by going for the United States Title in a cage right before it. Ron Garvin was also the defending World Champion, and he couldn't draw flies if he was rolled in cow crap. The Rock 'n' Roll Express vs. Midnight Express match should have been great, but it was put on a stupid scaffold. Terry Taylor had to do some heavy lifting in the TV Title match against Nikita Koloff. "Dr. Death" Steve Williams and Barry Windham even stunk up the joint with a fairly boring encounter for the UWF World Title. The Road Warriors, in their kayfabe hometown, also get screwed by an infamous Dusty Finish that pretty much kills Chicago for JCP forever. Two other "major" things happened on this show, as Bill Watts' UWF was recently bought out by Jim Crockett and they combined as The Wrestling Network (TWN) and had multiple Title Unification matches on this show. Also, this was the first year that the WWF ran Survivor Series and put it on free TV to go against Starrcade on pay-per-view. Because of that, starting in 1988, Starrcade was moved to December. In the news, we cover WCCW and AWA trying to hang on by the thinnest of threads, the NWA's business tanking, multiple hirings, firings, and quittings, and Uncle Dave Meltzer giving a hilarious bad take on Ron Simmons, plus much more!ALL PODCAST, SOCIAL MEDIA, & MERCHANDISE LINKS: linktr.ee/MainEventMarksCHECK OUT OUR MERCHANDISE: MainEventMarks.redbubble.com & bonfire.com/store/maineventmarksGET FUELED WITH SHOCKED ENERGY: https://shockedenergy.com/collections/all?sca_ref=1814354.mOXH7RrwKh&sca_source=MainEventMarks (promo code: MainEvent for 10% off)KEEP YOUR COFFEE GIMMICK FREE AND FRESH ROASTED TO ORDER WITH COFFEE BRAND COFFEE: https://coffeebrandcoffee.com/?ref=WC7vE0tK (promo code: MAINEVENT for 5% off)GET AWESOME SPORTS T-SHIRTS: intheclutch.com/MAINEVENT (use code "MAINEVENT" for 10% off)ORDER FROM SWIFT LIFESTYLES: SwiftLifestyles.com, use PROMO CODE: MainEventMarks at checkout for 15% offLISTEN EVERY WEDNESDAY AT 9PM EST: tikilive.com/channel/BURNS

In September of 1988, Jim Crockett Jr. was getting ready to sell off NWA/JCP to Ted Turner, which would change wrestling forever. Also, they held their 3rd Clash of the Champions event, which was the first ever Fall Brawl! Was it good? That's for you to decide. Oh, and the Main Event Marks! Sting is trying to take gold from the Four Horsemen in the main event as he takes on Barry Windham for the United States Title. The Sheepherders also get a 17-minute match, so...there's that. Mike Rotunda defends his Television Title against Brad Armstrong to open the show. San Francisco 49ers legend Jon Ayers cuts...I guess we'll call them "promos"...about his upcoming appearance at Starrcade '88. Also, in the news, "Dr. Death" Steve Williams gets caught with A METRIC TON of drugs, the WWF is selling out house shows, Paul Orndorff gets a job offer, and the upcoming AWA PPV doesn't look promising.ALL PODCAST, SOCIAL MEDIA, & MERCHANDISE LINKS: linktr.ee/MainEventMarksCHECK OUT OUR MERCHANDISE: MainEventMarks.redbubble.com & bonfire.com/store/maineventmarksGET FUELED WITH SHOCKED ENERGY: https://shockedenergy.com/collections/all?sca_ref=1814354.mOXH7RrwKh&sca_source=MainEventMarks (promo code: MainEvent for 10% off)KEEP YOUR COFFEE GIMMICK FREE AND FRESH ROASTED TO ORDER WITH COFFEE BRAND COFFEE: https://coffeebrandcoffee.com/?ref=WC7vE0tK (promo code: MAINEVENT for 5% off)GET AWESOME SPORTS T-SHIRTS: intheclutch.com/MAINEVENT (use code "MAINEVENT" for 10% off)ORDER FROM SWIFT LIFESTYLES: SwiftLifestyles.com, use PROMO CODE: MainEventMarks at checkout for 15% offLISTEN EVERY WEDNESDAY AT 9PM EST: tikilive.com/channel/BURNS
