Post-pandemic, there has been a gradual recovery, with some films performing exceptionally well, while smaller films continue to face challenges in recapturing pre-pandemic audience levels.

Hello and welcome back to Navigating New York! I am back with season 3 and we are kicking off the season with a really great guest, Irish Actor Moe Dunford. Moe is from Dungarvan County Waterford and his acting career has ignited over the past while. His first ever US Movie has just been released on Netflix, Texas Chainsaw MassacreMoe is best known for his performance as Aethelwulf in the hit TV series Vikings. Upon graduating from the Gaeity School of Acting in 2009, Moe worked on some of television's finest dramas including The Tudors and Game of Thrones. in 2015 he received an IFTA in the category of Best Actor in a Lead Role in Film for Patrick's Day. Moe is set to be in New York this weekend for the premiere of his recent movie, NIGHT RIDE.Nightride is a real time, one shot thriller set in Belfast about a dealer trying to pull off one last job in order to go straight. Written by Ben Conway Nightride will be screened at the 2022 Dublin International Film Festival on the 1st March, before a Netflix release on 4 March. Nightride is being premiered in New York this Saturday March 5th at cinépolis luxury cinemas in Chelsea as part of New York's Premiere Irish Film festival, Craic Fest and tickets are available at thecraicfest.comI chat to Moe with Terence Mulligan, Director of the Festival and then hear a bit more about the  it all from Terence himself. The Government is speeding ahead with incentives for electric vehicles but is facing backlash.New rebates for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles will be introduced on July 1st - with fees on higher emitting vehicles to help fund the scheme starting next year.It follows the Climate Change Commission's advice to increase the uptake of low emission vehicles.Transport Minister Michael Wood says a discount on electric, hybrid and low emission vehicles, funded from a fee on higher emitting ones, is the best policy to increase uptake.Meanwhile, an Auckland film and television producer involved in a controversial Christchurch terror attack film has pulled out.Philippa Campbell has withdrawn from the team working on the proposed They Are Us movie.She says she deeply regrets the shock and hurt announcement of the film has caused.Campbell says it focused on film business, and didn't take enough account of the political and human context.A petition to scrap the film now has over 60,000 signatures.Listen above as Clare de Lore and Josie Pagani discuss the day's news with Heather du Plessis-Allan above

A political commentator has put his support behind a controversial Christchurch Mosque attack film.Almost 60,000 people have signed a petition against "They Are Us", a new movie set to focus on Jacinda Ardern's response to the March 15 attacks.The petition, led by the Muslim community, has criticised the film for focusing on the Prime Minister instead of the victims.However, former Labour Party member Chris Trotter told Heather du Plessis-Allan people can object, but no one owns the tragedy, which belongs to history."I think the story needs to be told again but it's a very, very good story, and I completely understand why the people behind this project want it to go ahead."He says that the Prime Minister and people of New Zealand responded to the tragedy in a way that astonished the world. Trotter says the victims of the tragedy are no more owners of this story than the terrorist Brenton Tarrant is. "There is a natural human response to wall in the pain and walled in the horror. This weeks quest took us somewhere a little bit different, the National Media Museum Cinema in Bradford! We went to watch Jordan Peele's new mystery thriller Us and had a bit of chat about it in Jonny's car afterwards.    Apologies for the sub par audio this week, we'll try and find a better recording setup next time we go on an expedition outside the studio.

In the movie US the message under the surface is that the monster is us.   In Chicago nine years after the extraterrestrials arrived, demanded unconditional surrender, and forced all nations on Earth to disarm and disband armies. While the new “legislators” (as the invaders are known) remain primarily in underground lairs, obedient quislings in government and law enforcement maintain tyrannical control over the populace.
