Holy crow! It's the FIFTH anniversary episode of Please Hold For Dave Sim! Five years of holding. Five years of two dudes talking about a cartoon aardvark. Over sixty hours of AMOC's Manly Matt Dow trying to make Dave Sim laugh. Five years with a lot of answers to a lot of questions. Like these: Matt remembers Jeff Seiler's car. Dave skips Lank Stephens because, oh god the questions... VGDC Maroro asks about: Judith Bradford a sort of "list of exercises" for one to learn how to ink lines How does one figure out how far one can push the expression of a character until it becomes off-model How did you go about making the rock-climbing scene from Church & State so heartpoundingly thrilling that it took me all the way to 5 paragraphs of the brick wall that is Chasing YHWH in like 2 days If you had the ability to draw without any pain in any bit of your arms tomorrow, would you attempt a second magnum-opus like Cerebus was?  What is your take on the ethics of artists using an AI trained nonconsensually on the work of other artists as a tool to help them? Does Glenn Vilppu's technique work for cartoon characters that were constructed two-dimensionally like Fred Flintstone rather than ones made of 3D forms like Mickey Mouse? Dodger wants to know about Dave's thoughts on Marvel & DC's B/W reprint lines. Steve has inquiries about Jeff Seiler's copy of The Cerebus Guide to Self-Puplishing. Margaret has one of them notebook questions. Zipper wants to know if he has a rare misprint. Christon has questions about Cerebus #1. Philip Fry has questions about two unnamed guys from the first 13 issues. Mike Sewall wants to know how long SDOAR is gonna be. James Windsor-Smith has questions about Matt's favorite cartoon. Wayne Thomas has questions about Deni Sim's signature. Aaron Wood makes us hungry... And has questions about Superman. It's another two hours and twenty minutes added to the pile of content we provide you...for free. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/matt-dow/support

What makes a Charity effective?  How much of their operating budget should charities be spending on staff vs. direct help ($) to the intended cause.  If you ran a Food bank, how much of the budget should go to salaries vs.to the food you are distributing?    George welcomes Auroa City Councilwoman Francoise Bergan who explains questions the Council had about Federal dollars allocated to local charities.  Why do they care?  Some of these "charities" are spending 70% or more of their budget on staff salaries.  is that charity?  Then George welcomes Wayne Thomas.  You might not recognize the name, but Wayne was convicted as a juvenile for armed robbery and more.  While serving his sentence, he leaned into education and got his Doctorate.  After being pardoned he has gone on to live a wonderful productive life. Episode 198 of the InGoal Radio Podcast, presented by The Hockey Shop Source for Sports, features an incredibly fun, informative conversation with former Chicago Blackhawks goalie and current TNT and St. Louis Blues television analyst Darren Pang.In the feature interview, presented by Sense Arena, Pang shares his roots in the game, including how and why his dad talked him into becoming a goalie when all he originally wanted to do was score goals; his path to the NHL, including the importance of believing in and standing up for yourself, even if it takes call to the General Manager on a Sunday night; the impact and importance of having a goalie coach like Wayne Thomas as far back as the 1980s; and being bullied by Iron Mike Keenan, and the story of writing an actual book on NHL shooters that the infamous coach commandeered for himself. This half hour interview barely scratches the surface of Pang's incredible life in -- and impact on -- the game and the position, but still includes incredible stories from his career as a goalie and broadcaster, including his thoughts on the modern game and how it's changing again, as well as a long list of insights that will help goalies of every age and style. All that, plus a trip to the new location of The Hockey Shop Source for Sports (now in Langley) for a look at some of the savings up to 50% off in their upcoming Boxing Day Sale.

The needs of the District exceed its ability to complete this all without a dedicated tax increase, so in Phase 2, the current planned phase, the Board just approved a bond question on the November ballot, for $114,400,000 to fund upgrades, construction, modernization, ADA compliance, security/safety, and more, at 5 schools (Ravinia, Indian Trail, Sherwood, Braeside, & Wayne Thomas). In this podcast, we clarify some recent questions about timeline, costs, and plans in Phase 3.
