Roster moves kick off the agenda tonight as Mikka and Phil talk through Liam Rose's unexpected departure from the club midseason. Diego Abarca and Elijah Martin also were announced as leaving as Wilmer Cabrera continues his shake up. El Paso Locomotive failed to win at home once again in the USL Championship after Eric Calvillo's opening goal was cancelled out by Panos Armenakas' equalizer. The discussion goes to the quality of the opening goal, the inability to continue that quality and the drop off that seems to happen especially at home with the lead. Then they look ahead to Oakland and a flying Roots team who will be a big test midweek for Locomotive.
Dariusz Formella led the charge against Orange County, but it's a different test this week. After a rough start, El Paso Locomotive parted ways with their manager, and now Wilmer Cabrera is at the helm. But can he get the best out of his new squad? Phil and Mikka get the chance to sit down with Wilmer Cabrera who was just appointed the new Head Coach of El Paso Locomotive and got to talk about the whirlwind that brought him to town, the tough reality of the team's form and what he believes it will take to get a result against San Antonio FC and beyond. A refreshingly up front interview from a manager who has a US Open Cup among his honors. They follow that up with a discussion of Locomotive's home loss to Birmingham Legion in the USL Championship and look ahead to that SAFC match against a fellow rival also struggling for form.

Phil and Mikka get together to chat about Brian Clarhaut's abrupt end to his tenure in El Paso and they look ahead to the Wilmer Cabrera Era (say that a couple times fast.) They look at underperformance of this current squad in the USL Championship against Cabrera's seeming knack for getting a tune out of an under-resourced squad. His US Open Cup triumph, his playoff escapades, it suggests there is a man who gets the most out of his teams and Locomotive are in desperate need of inspiration ahead of a stern test away to Ben Pirmann and Nick Markanich's unbeaten Charleston Battery.

David Gass brings in the stars to help preview one of the biggest weekends of the season Heineken Rivalry Week. First Calen Carr and Ben "The Research" Baer stop by to talk Houston v FC Dallas (9pm ET on UniMas & Facebook.com.) They chat about Calen's history in the rivalry but more importantly what Wilmer Cabrera and Oscar Pareja are building for the future. They also breakdown the must win Seattle-Portland Cascadia Cup match on Sunday 10pm ET (Fox & Fox Deportes). Plus they look back at a bunch of midweek action and forward to a Saturday night filled with big time MLS battles. In the second segment Tommy McNammara and Luis Robles stop by the MLS office to preview the Hudson River Derby. McNammara talks about his national team future, NY sightseeing tips, and much more while the ironman Luis Robles takes over hosting duties from Andrew. In the mailbag the ignorant ETR hosts FINALLY look north to the Canadian Championship, wonder what is wrong with Jordan Morris, and one caller worries Deuce could get Landon'd off next summers World Cup roster.
The ExtraTime Radio Extravaganza rolls on with a Texas Derby edition of the show featuring new Houston Dynamo head coach Wilmer Cabrera and FC Dallas boss Oscar Pareja, who are now on opposite sides of the rivalry after decades of friendship. A legend in Colombia for his time with the national team and as a star in the domestic league, Pareja dishes about his playing days, how Dallas became his home, what the future of the club looks like and what he hopes for his own son, a member of the academy from which FCD plucks future stars. Don't assume Papi is the only one with a star-studded playing career. Cabrera was Pareja's peer and equal back in the day, and he joins the guys ahead of his first season as head coach of the Dynamo after being promoted from within. So how did he land the job? How did the club land Alberth Elis and the other Central and South American stars set to populate the line? What does Cubo need to do in order jump start his career? Give it a listen and let us know what you think in the comments section below! Enjoy the show? There's more where that came from. This week is an ExtraTime Radio Extravaganza. Five shows, five days, five exclusive one-v-one interviews with MLS coaches. Check out Monday's show, a team-by-team Eastern Conference whiparound as preseason begins, then move on to Tuesday's special with Dominic Kinnear (SJ) on the time he won a title in Mexico and Mauro Biello (MTL) explaining how he managed Didier Drogba. Don't forget there is also a comprehensive Western Conference primer coming on Thursday followed by Friday's finale with Jason Kreis (ORL), who tells the guys how his wife kept him in the coaching game when he wanted to quit.
Andrew, David and Matt are beat after two straight nights of Knockout Round action, but they drag themselves into the broom closet anyway for a special Friday morning summing up the 2016 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs so far and looking ahead to Sunday’s conference semifinals. First up, what happened to much-fancied D.C. United, who laid an egg against the bunker-and-break Impact at RFK? Do Sporting KC have reason to be peeved at the referees after their late lost to the Sounders? Are LA the favorites in the West? Did Toronto FC’s win say more about them or Philly? There’s no rest for the weary, as barely more than 48 hours are left until Montreal and the Red Bulls get a Sunday quadruple-header started from Stade Saputo in what promises to be a fascinating tactical battle between Jesse Marsch and Mauro Biello, one that could include a Didier Drogba trump card. Same goes for Galaxy-Rapids, a clash of clubs with very different histories but MLS Cup aspirations all the same. Toronto and NYCFC, meanwhile, promises to be the most fun matchup, and Seattle and Dallas will rehash a playoff rivalry that seems to pop up every year. In the mailbag, the Houston Dynamo’s coaching search appears to be over, with Wilmer Cabrera getting the nod over Wade Barrett. What’s that mean for the club? The guys wade in.
Major League Soccer was trending on Twitter on Wednesday. Why? Matt Miazga’s rumored big-money move to Chelsea and the soccer lifeline the LA Galaxy extended Ashley Cole. The guys give their takes on both moves…right after congratulating Landon Donovan on fatherhood. Fox Sports’ Alexi Lalas joins soon after to chime in on Miazga, Bruce Arena’s future in LA, Patrick Vieira, Jermaine Jones, Tim Howard and the role of captains on the field and off. Meanwhile, Wilmer Cabrera has a lot of work to do, and very little time to get it done. The former Chivas USA and United States youth national team coach is now at the helm of USL expansion team and Houston Dynamo affiliate Rio Grande Valley Toros FC. Cabrera is currently building a roster from scratch, and he joins the guys to lay out his plans, challenges and mandate from the Dynamo.
