Jimmy Conrad, Charlie Davies, and Tony Meola welcome MLS Next Technical Director Luis Robles to the show to unpack the newly-unveiled Quality of Play rankings. As the architect behind the pilot program, Luis breaks down the thinking, methodology, and long-term vision driving this bold shift in how youth player development is assessed in America. Coming on the heels of Tab Ramos' pointed criticism—calling the initiative “cookies for nice passes”—Luis addresses the skepticism head-on. How exactly is “quality” being defined? Can this model produce better professionals—or just more robotic players? And what role does US Soccer play in shaping the future of American talent? Plus, is AC Milan the right club for Yunus Musah? The guys discuss Musah's downturn in form and weigh up the risks of leaving the Italian giants ahead of the World Cup.

FUENTE: AP

Players of note are captain Luis Robles, Juan Agudelo, Brek Shea and Wil Trapp. Will Inter Miami renegotiate some of these contracts and welcome the players back at lower pay or are they saying goodbye? A new episode is out and this time Aaron (Autto421) joins Jordan and me on the podcast. We quickly recap the gritty 3-2 victory NYCFC had against Inter Miami but then the conversation switches to the rumors that Alexandru Mitrita will be loaned, with an option to be bought, to Al Ahli FC. This news couldn't have come at a worse time after Mitrita playing his best two matches of the year and that Maxi Moralez is still injured. Aaron breaks down his thoughts of NYC's season and it's head coach Ronny Deila performance. Then we finish up previewing the match against DC United which is being played for the first time in eight months at Yankee Stadium. Join us on SportsHosts and be entered in our monthly NYCFC merch giveaway: http://thenycfcnation.com/sportshostsapp Game recap provided by MLS Soccer New York City FC continued their strong run of form, twice seeing off Inter Miami comebacks to win 3-2 at Inter Miami CF Stadium on Saturday courtesy of two goals from Alexandru Mitrita. All five goals came in a rollercoaster of a first half when momentum swung rapidly between the two teams. Mitrita got the scoring going early, running in behind the Miami defense and providing a neat one-time finish to an Alex Ring ball over the top. We had to wait a while for the game's second goal, Lewis Morgan applying an emphatic right-footed finish to a stylish team move involving Blaise Matuidi and Victor Ulloa in the 27th minute. But the goals then came thick and fast. Eight minutes later, Anton Tinnerholm drove forward and cut inside from the right before beating Luis Robles with a low left-footed shot from 20 yards, Miami again pulled level in the 38th minute. Morgan grabbed his second of the night, this one even more spectacular than his first as he struck an unstoppable right-footed shot after a layoff from Gonzalo Higuain. But the parity lasted just five minutes. Mitrita matched Morgan with his second goal, running from deep inside his own half and into the Miami area before getting the benefit of a deflection off Ben Sweat to find the net. That proved to be the end of the scoring, though Miami were celebrating a late equalizer from Julian Carranza only to have it called back for offside following a video review. The Red Bulls have started training for the season to come. Joe and Mark review New York's draft picks and trialists. Luis Robles joins to give his first impressions of the 2018 squad. Also: What would you find in the RBNY Hall of Fame?
So, about Red Bull Arena being a fortress. So much for that right? A 2-0 loss to New York City is bad. A 2-0 loss where you don’t look competitive and only record one shot on goal? That’s much, much, much, much, much, (how many more times do I need to say it?) much worse. Bradley Wright-Phillips did not do much because he wasn’t given much. Sacha Kljestan didn’t do much because why should he? Granted, no one else, aside from Luis Robles, did much against NYC FC. The same goes for the Philadelphia Union USOC match where Ryan Meara again should be buying the post a beer after it saved a loss a regulation. Meara at least made good in Penalty Kicks and secured the New York Red Bulls a place in the USOC Quarterfinals. David Gass brings in the stars to help preview one of the biggest weekends of the season Heineken Rivalry Week. First Calen Carr and Ben "The Research" Baer stop by to talk Houston v FC Dallas (9pm ET on UniMas & Facebook.com.) They chat about Calen's history in the rivalry but more importantly what Wilmer Cabrera and Oscar Pareja are building for the future. They also breakdown the must win Seattle-Portland Cascadia Cup match on Sunday 10pm ET (Fox & Fox Deportes). Plus they look back at a bunch of midweek action and forward to a Saturday night filled with big time MLS battles. In the second segment Tommy McNammara and Luis Robles stop by the MLS office to preview the Hudson River Derby. McNammara talks about his national team future, NY sightseeing tips, and much more while the ironman Luis Robles takes over hosting duties from Andrew. In the mailbag the ignorant ETR hosts FINALLY look north to the Canadian Championship, wonder what is wrong with Jordan Morris, and one caller worries Deuce could get Landon'd off next summers World Cup roster.
Now that MLS is back, Mondays just got a whole lot better. The guys gather to break down the Round 2 results, starting with a frigid first-ever game in Minnesota that saw the Loons lose 6-1 to a rampant Atlanta United side under a blanked of snow. So what has to change? First things first, the defense, says Doyle, while David likes the look of the Josef Martinez-Miguel Almiron one-two punch up top for ATL. Meanwhile, Andrew is jumping on the Houston Dynamo bandwagon, San Jose get some love (with a caveat), Luis Robles is the new MLS iron man, the Galaxy lose again in a bizarre match at the StubHub Center and Ben 'The Research' Baer gets his own segment. Itwasn't just about the games this weekend, either. There was some drama, featuring a Twitter back-and-forth between Alejandro Bedoya and Jozy Altidore. It's not just MLS occupying our attention this week, as the CONCACAF Champions League returns with semifinal matchups for the Vancouver Whitecaps and FC Dallas against Liga MX compeition. ESPN FC's Tom Marshall joins the guys to explain why Tigres might just be the best Mexican team of all-time (gulp, 'Caps fans) and give Omar Gonzalez some props for his performances for Pachuca. Is this MLS's year? Maybe, but it's going to be a grind. In the mailbag, a shout out to two long-time listeners, props for the Cauldron in Kansas City, some sketchy match in the Montreal Impact midfield, more love for the Dynamo and a vocabulary lesson from Helsinki.
Hey, that Roy guy is pretty good! Wait, his name isn’t Roy Miller? What’s his name, Daniel Royer? Well, I guess that’s good, as long as he doesn’t put a free kick into the upper deck, he can call himself Roy all he wants, especially if the team manages to not drop a 2 goal lead. Granted, they never had a 2 goal lead against the Montreal Impact, but still, it’s an improvement. Oh hey, the New York Red Bulls also had a CONCACAF Champions League match this week? A tie in CONCACAF on the road? That’s pretty decent. They won their group and will advance to the knockout rounds in the spring? That’s even better. They didn’t give up a two goal lead? Amazing! Oh, Luis Robles tied his record for shutouts in a season and Dax McCarty is now the team leader for minutes played? Records are dropping all over this season. It's 2016! The Red Bull Rant boys are back to bring you coverage of the New York Red Bulls. They start off talking preseason. The team is down in Florida and they had their first scrimmage with the University of South Florida. There were two people missing Luis Robles is off with the United States Men's Team. The Red Bulls are in the Eastern Conference Championship, one step away from going to just their second ever MLS Cup. And I'll talk to Russ McKenzie about how he feels about the series, his opinion on whether or not they'll win and if this season is a failure if they do not. Also talk about Luis Robles winning goalkeeper of the year.
New York Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles tells a heartwarming story about his path to MLS and his team's preparation for the playoffs. In the second segment, NBCSN and CSN Houston reporter Sebastian Salazar goes around the league with Roche.
