For our second stop on The Great Gacha World Tour, we visit the land of World Flipper, an electrifying place of cool guys turning into adorable little pixel art pinballs. Guided by our local expert Tam, we take a look at like, SO many different guys, and ask about a lot of them a thrilled question: How do you think she does it? I don't know! What makes her SO good? ...It's a Pinball Wizard reference. A reference to Pinball Wizard by The Who. The Great Gacha World Tour cover art by ash! Listeners, Double-O August comes in like a Cookie and out like a Bazooka. This episode blasts its way into your brain, opening you up to new ideas. I guess your brain is a tank or something in this metaphor? When did writing these get so difficult. In this episode: David asks, "why do game have a big gun?" Giovanni tries to rocket jump. Tess loads everything she can into a tube and blasts it at you. Greg has worms. Hungry for more nonsense and explosive ordinance? Check out patreon.com/LTRT. You can learn all about World Flipper, a game that captured our attention for approximately two months that then most of us swore off of. Or you could also check out lefttriggerrighttrigger.com Games discussed: Doom, Team Fortress 2, Earth Defense Force 2017, and Worms W.M.D.

The WPR crew is back from their day off on Monday recharged and ready to discuss the finer points of … the best way to make a PB&J. The crew talks about their time with Back 4 Blood, the new iteration on the Left 4 Dead formula made by some of the people who created it. While it has an uneven first showing, as with most co-op games it's often better with friends. After the break, Natalie and Cado dive into their time with Deltarune Chapter 1+2, and discuss the ways the game continues to play with themes set up in Undertale in new ways. Then, Rob is colliding into his past as a matchbox kid by checking out Hot Wheels Unleashed, an almost too brutal arcade racer that has a bizarre home decoration component? And Patrick wraps up his time with Kena: Bridge of Spirits, and finds the back half challenging in a satisfying way that the first half was not.Discussed: Back 4 Blood 13:42, World Flipper 43:18, Deltarune 50:30, Hot Wheels Unleashed 1:04:13, Kena: Bridge of Spirits 1:25:01 See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
This week, merritt's joined by Fanbyte's very own Jordan Mallory, LB Hunktears, and Colette Arrand to play a wonderful new selection of games… or else. Merritt's also magically aged several decades for a segment where our friends have to explain whatever the hell Ace Attorney, Escape the Undertaker, and World Flipper is to an out of touch old. Plus, in anticipation of Chris Pratt as everyone's favorite plumber, we've got you covered with tons of really good Mario jokes for you to use as you wait in line at the midnight screening. A pinball JRPG... Sounds like a giant mess, but somehow World Flipper turned out to be an incredibly cool and addictive new mobile game. How is this possible? Doug explains his current obsession with it.
This week on the show we hear about Moses' loyalty to apicological royalty, and following that it's Paul's turn to add a wonderful mining and crafting game to his ranked list as well. Later on we get an update from Moses regarding his current travails in Apex Legends, as well as the fate of his very own video game project, and Paul talks about how World Flipper flopped. We put a bow on this week's show with a teensy Blaseball Update and Make My Game!

We're joined by Scarlett for a stroll down memory lane, when Sony meant interesting games coming from Japanese developers. It wasn't even that long ago! Revisiting Gravity Rush 2 a mere four years after its release, we remember the power of the Vita to fire our imagination, and the cold light of day that's been first party development in the last half decade. But also, we remember Kat and Raven, two heroes who do their best despite everything. We remember the vibrant cities and thoughtful meditations on class and capitalism. We enjoy it, always, when you fall in a direction you shouldn't. «China lässt Minderjährige nur noch drei Stunden pro Woche gamen», titelte das SRF vor ein paar Wochen. Spielsucht ist nicht nur im Reich der Mitte ein grosses Thema. Wie dramatisch die Situation wirklich ist und mit welchen Tricks Spielefirmen Kinder und Jugendliche an ihre Produkte fesseln, diskutieren wir mit Psychologe Lukas Bösiger. It's a brand new month and a brand new episode of RPGrinders. September brings us Autumn, cooler temperatures, football, and (the most important thing of all) a brand new tournament! This month we will decide the Greatest Gameboy Advance Game of All Time! As usual, we start the show off with plenty of news. Demon Gaze Extra gets a release date and a few different prices. The Xbox & PC fishing and slice of life RPG, Moonglow gets an October release date. Upcoming release World Flipper offers a unique experience by combing pinball and action RPGs. If you are looking for a more traditional RPG experience, Rise of the Third Power has been announced for the PC. As a special treat, Eric reviews the sci-fi classic Alien. How does he feel about Ripley, the crew, and their struggle against the first xenomorph? This episode is mostly fun and games but the Grinders do take the time to talk about two serious issues: climate change and abortion. Yet again, another strong hurricane attacks America. This time it's name was Ida but what will it be next time? There will be a next time. Just like the Earth, man has decided that he should control women. Right Wing nut jobs are finally getting their way because of Texas and the Supreme Court. These monsters are taking away women's rights to bodily autonomy! Even terrible news can't stop the Grinders from answering the questions that have stumped scholars for generations. If a tree falls it the woods, does it make a sound? Penis mightier than the sword? If a plane crashes on the border of Mexico and the US, where do you bury the survivors? And the most important question of all time, what is the greatest Gameboy Advance game of all time?! Will the classic Link to the Past score an Eagle against Mario Golf? Can Final Fantasy 4, 5, or 6 make it to the next round? Can the Castlevania series maintain it's dominance over the portable gaming market? No Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and no harmonica makes Break Man a dull boy.
