Did you know that the US has a shortage of welders? Me either. But after reading a NYT article in 2009, Pa'Trice Frazier took a trip to her local school to ask if the statistics were true. Sure enough, the instructors confirmed that the US had a shortage of 150-200K welders on their hands. Pa'Trice signed up on the spot to become a welder. After becoming a certified welder, Pa'Trice spent the next years of her life traveling the US. How did she find work? She showed up where project job crews ate. She'd tell them she was a badass welder and asked if they needed one. This is how Pa'Trice began her career and how she gained the skills to become an award winning welder. From Mercedes Benz Stadium and Seaport Musuem in Atlanta to submarines, Pa'Trice has worked in tight spaces, fun spaces, and on time crunches. Pa'Trice is really, really good at what she does. In fact, Pa'Trice believes women have an advantage when it comes to welding. Pa'Trice could have stopped there; kept working hard, earning an excellent income, and excelling at her career. But this is not in Pa'Trice's nature. In 2019 Pa'Trice founded Weld Jointed to guide young people who are looking for something more from life. She saw a path for youth who were looking for it; fill the gap that our nation needed to secure our infrastructure and give these young people a solid path as a welder. Now, when Pa'Trice isn't letting it burn, baby, she serves as a self designated Welding Ambassador. She visits schools and events to talk to young people about welding. She mentors youth by helping them get into a welding program, find a job when they come out, and even get their PPE to get them started. She guides these young people into an incredible career! Imagine having had a Pa'Trice in your life?! Pa'Trice is one of these people who just keeps doing the work she is doing. She has too much to do to kick back admiring her life. Our interview was almost over before Pa'Trice causally mentioned the curriculum she is developing for prisoners! While Pa'Trice recognizes the importance of this work, she sees it as no big deal that she is the one doing it. In her opinion God gave her the ability to help, so she does. And "oh yeah". Pa'Trices latest work was BUILDING A HOT WHEEL- like a real, life size Hot Wheel, in Europe, with NBC and Peacock! Getting to know Pa'Trice is a gift. Her wisdom, experience, and get shit done mentality remind me that forward motion is always possible. Do yourself a favor and don't miss this conversation with Pa'Trice Frazier; Master Welder and founder of Weld Jointed. Find Pa'Trice here: Weld Jointed On Instagram
Fonseca sits down with Samantha Newark is an English-born American musician, singer and actress. She is best known for her voice-over work as the speaking voice of Jem and Jerrica in the animated cartoon series Jem. As a teenager, Newark became a voice-over talent in mainstream television. Her work on "Jem" produced a serious cult following that persists to this day. She lent her voice to many radio and TV projects while writing and performing her original music as a solo recording artist in Los Angeles CA, Nashville TN and Dallas, Texas. In 2015 Newark appeared in the live action feature film adaptation on Jem and the Holograms directed by Jon Chu.new live-action Barbie movie. Ryan Gosling is also playing Ken while Margot Robbie plays Barbie. John's role had been kept a secret until it was revealed at Cinemacon. The website says John is playing a male mermaid named Merman Ken Mattel Creates Down Syndrome Barbie Doll: Raw Story says Mattel introduced a new Down Syndrome Barbie doll yesterday. The company worked with the National Down Syndrome Society to create the doll.Mattell says; "Barbie plays an important role in a child's early experiences, and we are dedicated to doing our part to counter social stigma through play. Our goal is to enable all children to see themselves in Barbie, while also encouraging children to play with dolls who do not look like themselves.''The National Down Syndrome Society says, "This Barbie serves as a reminder that we should never underestimate the power of representation. It is a huge step forward for inclusion and a moment that we are celebrating.” Retail Dive saysMattel and The Gap are teaming for a Barbie clothing collection. The new line will be available on the Gap's website starting on May 23rd. A clothing collection based on Mattel's Hot Wheel toys is also in development. The Barbie collection will feature t-shirts, skirts, hoodies, jeans, accessories and pet apparel. The two companies are teaming up to promote the release of the new live action Barbie movie -World of Reel says a sequel to ''Beetlejuice'' is in development in the UK. Tim Burton plans to direct the film. Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder are returning to reprise their roles from the original movie. InInterview with Samantha Newark voice Jem and Jerrica June 30th “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” director James Mangold tells Total Film magazine that he used technology to de-age Harrison Ford for a 25-minute scene in the film. He says Harrison pulled it off because he was able to pretend that he was 35 instead of 79. ''Ford is incredibly gifted and agile which made it easy to pretend that he was 35 when filming the scenes. We had hundreds of hours of footage of him in close-ups, in mediums, in wides, in every kind of lighting, night and day. I could shoot Harrison on a Monday as, you know, a 79-year-old playing a 35-year-old, and I could see dailies by Wednesday with his head already replaced.”Harrison Ford tells Total Film magazine that he is not going to appear in the new Indiana Jones TV series. He says “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” will be the last time he plays Indy. “This is the final film in the series, and this is the last time I'll play the character. I anticipate that it will be the last time that he appears in a film.” Chris Evans doesn't think he is going to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe to play Captain America again. The International News quotes him as saying, "It's tough, because look, I love that role deeply. He means so much to me, and I really do. I think there's more Steve Rogers stories to tell, sure. But at the same time, I'm very, very precious with it. It's like this little shiny thing that I have that I love so much, and I just don't want to mess up in any way, and I was a part of something that was so special for the special period of time and in a way, it really landed so well. As much as I'm connected to that role and love telling those stories and working with those people. It doesn't quite feel right right now."

In this episode of Memory Jogger, Jason and Wyatt use the randomizer to choose from a group of topics and see how much they can remember (without any prior show notes.) After sharing their experiences, they can then cheat if necessary by using the Google machine to find anything they might have missed from their memories. The topic chosen by the randomizer during this episode is Matchbox Cars! First, the duo come up with early memories of collecting toy cars. Then, they talk about the different types of cars, playsets, and where they played with them. The conversation turns to how are parents afforded some of our more expensive toys and then "losing" toys during movies and donating to needy families. Did we jog any memories or experiences with Hot Wheel, Match box or Micro Machine cars that you have collected over the years? Tell us your jogged memories either by commenting to our show notes on Rediscoverthe80s.com, tweet us @RD80s and @infamouswb or better yet Leave us a VOICEMAIL and we'll respond to it on our next episode → https://telb.ee/rd80s

The WPR crew is back from their day off on Monday recharged and ready to discuss the finer points of … the best way to make a PB&J. The crew talks about their time with Back 4 Blood, the new iteration on the Left 4 Dead formula made by some of the people who created it. While it has an uneven first showing, as with most co-op games it's often better with friends. After the break, Natalie and Cado dive into their time with Deltarune Chapter 1+2, and discuss the ways the game continues to play with themes set up in Undertale in new ways. Then, Rob is colliding into his past as a matchbox kid by checking out Hot Wheels Unleashed, an almost too brutal arcade racer that has a bizarre home decoration component? And Patrick wraps up his time with Kena: Bridge of Spirits, and finds the back half challenging in a satisfying way that the first half was not.Discussed: Back 4 Blood 13:42, World Flipper 43:18, Deltarune 50:30, Hot Wheels Unleashed 1:04:13, Kena: Bridge of Spirits 1:25:01 See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

On this episode of the “Autoweek Podcast,” host Rory Carroll joins Wesley Wren and Mike Pryson in the studio to talk about the 2019 running of Le Mans. Since no one in the room was actually there, the guys have Peter Hughes call in to talk about his first trip to Circuit de la Sarthe for a 24-hour race. Peter spins a yarn about his experience and the sights he saw -- and explains how you can have fun at Le Mans through a VIP experience or just from running around with the masses. The group also dives into the major problem the World Endurance Championship is facing with only one manufacturer, Toyota, present in the top-tier LMP1 class. After the fun Le Mans conversation, Rory and Peter remember their friend Davey G. Johnson. Johnson worked at Autoweek as well as other publications like Jalopnik, Car and Driver and Motorcyclist, among others. This section was recorded before today’s news that the missing journalist’s body was found. Wrapping the show, Rory and Wesley talk with Ricardo Briceno, the global head of brand marketing for Hot Wheels. The group talks about the growing Legends Tour, the new high-tech cars rolling out under the ID banner and what cars they want to see scaled down into a Hot Wheel.

Last episode we talked about Lansing’s first-ever hot air balloon festival which is happening at the end of the month, the new Hot Wheel exhibit at Impression 5, and Lansing’s obsession with crack chicken. If you missed that episode, make sure to check it out! This week we talk about Oars & Ales, a unique paddling and brew event happening later this month. Lansing Brewing Company sales manager Keri Brown joins me along with Paul Brogan and Nate Williams from River Town Adventures. Kathleen Lavey is also back on the podcast to talk about Bigfoot, after the internet went wild over a photo taken in the Upper Peninsula that shows a black furry beast in the woods.
(07-08-2016) - Top Gear's "Stig" from 2000-2010, Ben Collins was a key part of the hit UK show, but couldn't go public about it! He talks first rides, stunt driving in James Bond movies, the all new Top Gear and celebrity Top Gear drivers like Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz & Lionel Richie: and Drew Alcazar of Russo & Steele talks about his favorite "Hot Wheel", having the greatest wife in the world & the classic car that she lets him park in their living room.
Biz and Theresa talk about kids' books and outside of a few, how totally horrible they can be. Is it ok to just skip pages or not even let our kids know some classic children’s literature exists? What about books about TV shows or merchandise -- “And then the little Hot Wheel saved Christmas!” HUH?! Plus, Biz is desperate to hear "those three little words" from Ellis, Theresa is on the other side of Oscar’s surgery, and we have a blast talking about children’s music with performers Andrew and Polly. If you drive to northern California through central Oregon, you cross the state line on US 199, also known as the Redwood Highway. As you continue into California, you reach a certain point where it feels like you’ve entered a fairytale. It feels like your car has shrunk, and now you’re driving a Hot Wheel, because there are these massive, massive trees stretching above you, over your head, these ancient redwoods. And if you get out of your car and walk around the groves of redwoods you feel...
