For Sheffield Wednesday this season (2023/24) has been one of contrast, the abysmal first 10 matches or so under grumpy, charlatan Xisco Munoz and the markedly better run since under German coaching whizz Danny Rohl. The players have had similar swings, some asked to do unfamiliar or uncomfortable jobs under Xisco then recast or recalled under Rohl's regime. To pick it all apart and gain some perspective please join us for part one of or Mid-Season Review, in which we run the rule over just over the half the players who have contributed this season and assign them school style grades (which schools don't use anymore).Part way through the episode we hit on a Meal Deal based grading system too, if that sounds like your sort of thing then please join us!PS Hang around at the end for something silly.differentgravypod@gmail.comhttps://twitter.com/gravy_pod Hosted on Acast. We talk to James from “Wednesday til I die” and look back at a turbulent six months for the owls, a Wembley triumph, promotion and then a self-combusting ownership, Xisco and a new manager that no one really knows a lot about when in the hot seat. Plus we discuss Ashley Fletcher! We talk about Watford players who moved on to Hillsborough which were hits, which were misses and find out the average height of a Malaysian man and why Carl now wants to go there. We also discover that Carlton Palmer is also on the (very extensive) list of things of which Justin is grumpy about Carl relives a dreadful Wednesday related memory but a rather pleasing one involving Kevin Pressman and a pie.Plus the return of the prediction league which leaves James clearly stunned!COYH!This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not Scratch Your Eyes. Different Gravy - Not just another Sheffield Wednesday podcast
A timely canning of Xisco and our shiny new manager has brought the Gravy Boys out of their slumber. The title refers to the, subjective opinion here, awful KFC sandwich, or as Rich pus it a "nice sandwich in pooey bread". "Pooey bread" slice one gets into how embarrassed we were to even feel remotely optimistic about Xisco Munoz's reign and the false dawn of last time we broke Wednesday bread. And as a result the second end slice of poop loaf gets into the disappointing set of players who have helped give Wednesday the worst start to their football league campaign ever. But don't worry, there is some goodness in the meat and we can recall how to get giddy and overexcited as we welcome the striking and enigmatic Deutsche video analyst upstart, Danny Röhl, to the Wednesday manager position. Do Luke and Rich get into a series of dire stereotypical German impressions? Ja. Do we get carried away fantasizing about Röhl getting the club out on the Autobahn and whipping her into fifth? WITH this week's managerial departures at Sheffield Wednesday and Bradford City, the FootballTalk team have recorded an extra podcast to cover the events. The YP's chief football writer Stuart Rayner joins ‘caretaker' host Phil Harrison to discuss Xisco Munoz's sacking by Sheffield Wednesday and the departure of Mark Hughes at Bradford, as well as focussing on who are the best – and most likely – candidates to take over at each club. Could the ‘Red Adair' of football Neil Warnock – a lifelong Blades fan and former manager of Wednesday's fierce Steel City rivals – be about to take over at the Owls – and how would that go down with the fans? Who will succeed Hughes at the Bantams and is there enough time to turn the team around from an 18th-placed straggler in League Two and back into a play-off contender?
Much, much, better this week, but we're still without a win and not scored in over 400 minutes of football. ...but... Xisco has gone, so it's not all bad. patreon.com/wtidpod twitter.com/wtidpod Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

A few months after bringing in the last one, Sheffield Wednesday are once again in the hunt for a new boss after Xisco Munoz became the last managerial failure at Hillsborough. We discuss last season and a certain Play off semi-final and how good it is that them up the road are experiencing the potential misery that is the jackpot prize after promotion for all the promoted teams' last season! We discuss Sunderland's sad Premier League seasons and our nightmare opponents until we finally convince ourselves that we're glad we didn't get promoted.Pete starts off on another manager he doesn't like for no apparent reason before Ant takes us through a strange pre-season for the Black Cats. We cover off the easy to dislike Russell Martin (what with his good hair and all!) and add him to the list of managers we don't like for no reason. We question if Sunderland could really have kept Ross Stewart. The prediction league goes as badly as we have all come to expect with the highlight being Carlos trying to remember the bands, he knows who have come from Sunderland before Pete and Carl spots a conspiracy as Sunderland will get an extra night to recover as Sunderland will be most likely putting an end to Xisco's reign at Hillsborough on Friday night!!!As Justin's not here we decide to bring everyone up to date on the Fantasy league and it looks like Justin has done a runner!!!COYH!This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not Scratch Your Eyes. EP33 Should Xisco Stay Or GoIt's a sad state of affairs to even be debating whether another Watford manager should be asked to leave, but the football on the pitch has been quite simply, dreadful. And... it's not just us who've noticed it either. Therefore we need to at the very least propose this question and ask ourselves what the rights and wrongs about keeping The Spaniard are. Also on the show, Andre Gray's interview. Did it make you change your feelings towards him? Did it make you dislike him further? Did it do nothing either way? We'll tell you what we thought...And.. Watford have a new signing... or do they? Well its not announced at time of going to print, but we think yes they do and we think its a new left back called Achraff Lazaar. Joining me on the show are football analyst Jordan Weimer and football journalist Tom Bodell. As always please let us know what you think and share the pod so that other Watford fans can hear us ramble on haha.
