Funky Buddha started from humble beginnings at a small brewpub in Boca Raton, built off passionate people and sketchy craigslist ads. They were tired of the standard beer offerings. Welcome to episode 39 of the BE LOCAL PODCAST! When I first heard about the "Red Meat Lovers Club," I immediately asked when do they meat (get it meet) ok but also can I join.  We have Evan Darnell on with us to tell us how they started, how you can join and how are they giving back to locals. In 1994, Evan Darnell, AKA “The Secretary of Steak,” was dining in the main hall of Tulane University and saw a sign on the dining room table that said “S.A.V.E.”: Students Advocating Vegetarian Eating. He knew there needed to be an opposing club. He later formed Red Meat Lover's Club. The Red Meat Lovers Club held Monthly “meatings” which were hosted at various local bars and the Pike fraternity house. Upon Evan's graduation, the membership reached 300 members. After moving to Florida in August 2017, Evan Awakened his beloved club and re-established The Red Meat Lover's Club. Now, not much has changed except we can create more significant, more dynamic events with a dynamic core of “Steaksmen” whom love to feast on the glorious beast. The R.M.L.C. is based out of sunny South Florida with its eye on establishing chapters where groups of “Steaksmen” have a thirst for old brown spirts, a yearning for the glorious beast, and they want to develop strong personal and business bonds with each other.

Ryan Paton is the Owner and President of local residential mortgage company, Capitol Lending Group.  In 2012 he co-founded honor flight south Florida and serves as the director of Operations. Over the past 4 years, he's taken WWII Veterans to 5 Countries, while filming a documentary about America's last remaining WWII Veterans called Cocktails With Heroes, and recently started the podcast version as well. In between his company, his work with Veterans, and time with his family, Paton has donated over 20 gallons of blood throughout South Florida.

His transformation into BootlegGreg began at an early age, where he learned the benefits and uses of plants and herbs for the human body. Naturally, this led to a prominent career in food & beverages from high-end resorts in Jamaica to bartending for the Super Clubs Chain. In 2005, BootlegGreg moved to Montego Bay`s Hip Strip, where he created his first cocktail menu for the prestigious Nikkita's bar and restaurant. Many beverage programs, awards and accolades later – Gregory now co-owns BootlegGreg Cocktail Co.

Welcome back to another episode of EDBL! We have an incredible guest who's life revolves around service and giving back.  Tony Davis is the founder of "Mission Fishin," and the incredible father to three young boys.  Josh, his youngest was born 11 weeks premature and spent 30 days in the neonatal intensive care unit. At 10 months old he was diagnosed with Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy, Cortical Vision Impairment, Epilepsy, and Gut Motility Disorder. When Josh was 5, Tony received a call from RJ Boyle that changed his life.  RJ Boyle is a local fisherman and business owner that has had the great privilege to fish all over the world. RJ planned a fishing trip with Tony and his family. The trip went great and Josh loved it! He was at total peace and relaxed like no other time when he was out on the water. Since their inception in 2014 they have done many trips and taken over 100 families fishing or on some type of marine excursion and the reaction from families that get to experience what Josh and his family did never gets old!
