My latest guest on the show Tommy Byrne is a former motor racing driver who hails from outside Dundalk, Co. Louth and now lives in Daytona, Florida. Tommy talked about growing up working on a farm, how he got into racing on tracks like Mondello Park, then moving to England to pursue a motor racing career, and getting an opportunity to race in Formula 1. His racing career brought him to America, Mexico, and many tracks around the world. He also shared his favourite race tracks in the world, his thoughts on modern motor racing, how his book about his life was hard to do but he is happy he did it. Today, Tommy teaches young drivers, defensive driving techniques and coaches drivers to be better, and he also enjoys racing with his friends. Shane talked about playing darts from age 7-8, then playing tournaments in The Horse and Jockey Bar, Inchicore to being the first player to get a PDC tour card in 2011. His darting career in between brought him National success and he even won and competed Professionally in Australia. He also talked about the opportunities in darts today, advice from professionals like Phil Taylor and Kevin Painter, his darting schedule, friendship, the origin of his stage name, motivation and belief, going back to qualifying school in 2021 and his plans to tour again later this year.
