There's a lot that goes on pre-opening in hospitality, whether it be a hotel, a club, or a restaurant. That's where Jensen Moonien comes in. He is the Founder and Managing Director of La Rencontre, a consulting firm specializing in the F&B space of hospitality. Jensen discusses the importance of hospitality, sharing enduring memories without expecting anything in return, and highlights his entrepreneurial journey, including his move from Mauritius to Dubai. The conversation covers the complexities and strategies of opening a successful restaurant in Dubai, including market adaptation, the significance of the pre-opening phase, and the vibrant restaurant and nightlife scene in the UAE. Jensen also sheds light on the influx of investments in Dubai and the evolving trends in creating immersive and festive dining experiences.Takeaways: Bring global brands or concepts, but adapt them to fit the local market requirements. Understanding the local customer psyche is essential.Focus on getting the pre-opening phase right. Ensure all aspects, from design to marketing, are flawlessly executed to make a strong first impression.Engage with local consultants who understand the market dynamics, regulatory framework, and customer preferences to navigate the challenges more effectively.Location is crucial. Evaluate whether the concept is better suited for a hotel environment or an independent setup based on the target clientele and business goals.Establish connections with local PR firms, promoters, and concierge services that can drive customer footfall and enhance visibility.Consider innovative business models like dinner shows or hybrid concepts (restaurant + nightclub) that cater to local trends and customer behaviors.Identify and capitalize on the unique aspects of the business, whether it's the design, the culinary experience, or exclusive entertainment offerings.Quote of the Show:“I think everybody is kind of sold on the dream of coming to Dubai, of having the platform to create things, and it's true.” - Jensen MoonienLinks:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jensen-a-moonien-121388b3/ Website: https://larencontre.ae/ Shout Outs:0:44 - Four Seasons https://www.fourseasons.com/ 0:45 - St Regis https://st-regis.marriott.com/ 0:46 - Ritz-Carlton https://www.ritzcarlton.com/ 4:33 - Vatel Mauritius https://www.vatel.mu/ 7:21 - Titanic https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Titanic 29:17 - Bagatelle https://bagatelle.com/ 29:21 - Zuma https://www.zumarestaurant.com/en/dubai 34:04 - RECA Hospitality https://www.linkedin.com/company/recahospitality/ 34:05 - Sunset Hospitality https://www.sunsethospitality.com/ 35:21 - Gaia https://www.gaiarealty.ae/services 40:57 - Sheikh Mohammed https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohammed_bin_Rashid_Al_Maktoum

Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Leo Ornstein is as well known for his extraordinary longevity as for his music: he was born in Ukraine in 1893 and died in Wisconsin in 2002, aged at least 108. His generous output of music, much of it for the piano, his own instrument, remains poorly known, although it can stand shoulder to shoulder with that of many better-known names. Some of the pieces here – which cover a span of over 60 years – have their roots in Debussy, Skryabin, and Szymanowski, but Ornstein welds those influences into an edgy, energetic language very much his own. The Three Moods of c. 1914 are anger, grief, and joy, but there is strength of feeling in all the music to be heard here. Indeed, the Nine Vignettes bear a misleading title: they are substantial and powerful virtuoso essays that can flare up into moments of startling power and violence; hitherto unknown, they constitute a major contribution to the piano literature.TracksNine Vignettes, s380 (1977) (34:39) No. 1 Moderato (4:49) No. 2 Con Moto (3:08) No. 3 Moderato (3:21) No. 4 Animato (4:26) No. 5 Moderato (2:09) No. 6 Allegro (3:30) No. 7 Animato (4:15) No. 8 Moderato (3:15) No. 9 Moderato con moto (5:46) Bagatelle, s100 (1952) (1:30) A Moment of Retrospect, s156 (?1950s) (4:45) The Cathedral, s73 (1916) (2:50) Nocturne, No. 1, s153 (c. 1922) (8:47) Three Moods, s5 (c. 1914)* (11:13) No. 1 Anger: Agitato (2:38) No. 2 Grief (5:32) No. 3 Joy: Presto (3:03) All Except * First Recordings*First Digital RecordingHelp support our show by purchasing this album  at:Downloads (classicalmusicdiscoveries.store) Classical Music Discoveries is sponsored by Uber. @CMDHedgecock#ClassicalMusicDiscoveries #KeepClassicalMusicAlive#CMDGrandOperaCompanyofVenice #CMDParisPhilharmonicinOrléans#CMDGermanOperaCompanyofBerlin#CMDGrandOperaCompanyofBarcelonaSpain#ClassicalMusicLivesOn#Uber#AppleClassical Please consider supporting our show, thank you!Donate (classicalmusicdiscoveries.store) staff@classicalmusicdiscoveries.comThis album is broadcast with the permission of Sean Dacy from Rosebrook Media.

Do you know bagatelle? You know bagatelle probably from the handheld pinball incantation from your childhood. The word "bagatelle" means a "trifle" or simply "child's play."I have a case that is child's play; the 1990 murder of 23-year-old Lise Brisebois. It's a wonder a suspect has never been mentioned as an obvious candidate has been geographically under the Surete du Quebec's nose for thirty years – a sort of criminal investigative bagatelle.https://johnallore.substack.com/

I.e.: not respecting no photography rules, getting in people's faces and way. Do you guys have any advice on how to deal with family dynamics like this? Not inviting him really isn't an option, because that would cause even more drama. Anything would be much appreciated! Question 2: My fiancé (35M) and I (30F) finally decided on a venue that we wanted. The date we want (a Thursday in June) was available at an amazing venue in Key West. So a destination wedding. We were very excited to get moving with some real tangible plans. After reviewing their required/ preferred vendors list. Just after the caterer our budget is hit. The budget I'd like to stick to is 15,000- 20,000 absolute max. After emailing the the venue wedding planners, asking them for advice to keep the wedding within budget I got the following response. "Well another option could be to have the wedding ceremony here and maybe have a reception at a restaurant? They tend to be a bit cheaper. For 50-60 people this will definitely bring you to the top of your budget with food and alcohol. Maybe inquire with Bagatelle or first flight they will be able to accommodate your size party and might be able to keep you on budget? " I guess, I just don't understand how I could have saved up so much money and that can't cover a reasonably small party. Personally, I don't like the idea of leaving the venue for a dinner reception. I went on Wedding Report for my town and it says that based on the answers I gave I could achieve a wedding around 18k-25k for 75-100people. My fiancé doesn't want to get married here, so that doesn't really feel like a back up plan. Should I keep pricing things out in Key West? Thanks for at least letting me vent a little. Question 3: What are the thoughts on shape wear and when to get the shape wear? Should you get it before dress consultation? Question 4: Instead of going the traditional catering event, they decided to use a restaurant that will set up the buffet. Without needing servers, they are looking for people to help with pouring water, cutting cake, etc, how do we find a staff? What do we look up to find the right help? Question 5: We are having a 40 person wedding. How do you feel about DJs? Our families are a mix of partiers/dancers and those that just want to sit. Is a DJ awkward with 40 people?
