Billion with a 'B' and I'll hold the Chickens Scuba obsessed in the weekly podcast where we talk about all things scuba diving from cool new gear, places to dive and scuba in the news. Here are some of the storeies we have in the news. Deap Sea Discovery, Billions Dollar Treasure and More Wrecks for diving. Jim S., Mack and Darrin are at it again.
Sorry for the poor quality for the first half of the show. We had to use a backup recording. We ran into an internet speed bump. This week Mack, Jim S., and Darrin talk about some more scuba diving. It really looks like winter is coming to and end.
Can you Believe it? We have two Jim's, Mack and Darrin all in the same show. Darrin and Jim try to dispell the myth that high vis and warm water is not dangerous. Florida was a great place to test that out. Hear how the guys handled diving in locations like Ginny Springs, Devil's Den and more. We may also have had the worst scuba joke so far.
Jim S. and Darrin talk about scuba in the news. Jim S. shares his visit to the Ghost Ships Festival in WI. They also plan next weeks wreck dive on the South Bend in Diamond Lake.
Jim S., Mack and Darrin talk about Scuba in the news. Of course they go off course a few times. They even venture into talk about the storm going through and rogue waves. Everything gets pulled together by the bad scuba joke.
Jim S., and Darrin interview special Guest Denea Buckingham about The French Job. They also cover scuba in the news and an a predictably bad scuba joke. * Note - the audio next week will be better. I discovered a setting on my microphone that I had wrong for several weeks now. Ugh!
Mack, Jim S., and Darrin try to get caught up in the news. They discuss the worlds best scuba club house. There is a lot of diving going on and another full weekend of diving planned. They also attempted to make up lost ground on the bad scuba joke.
Mack, Jim S., and Darrin dive in to the news. Jim explains why you want to have a solid back on your camera and we also talk about the great lake conditions. Yes! We got on Mack's wreck and there was a Havana dive. To top it off with the bad scuba joke and a picture you won't believe. Or maybe hope you don't see.
We replayed the interview with Sebastien Seb "The Sub" Murats by Denea Buckingham. There was plenty of news and plenty of scuba diving. We think Mack ditched the last four minutes of the show because he couldn't handle the bad scuba joke.
Darrin, Mack and Jim S. catch up on Scuba in the News and a whole lot of diving. Jim S. returning to his old east coast stopping grounds and got in an atlantic wreck dive. Darrin and Mack dove the Muskegon in Michigan city and a fresh water reef in Michigan city. They even had time to get some warm weather river diving in looking for some bottles. The show as you guessed was capped off by the bad scuba joke.
Mac, Jim and Darrin cover scuba in the news. We have some great videos of a cold looking monkey dive and a 1 minute teaser video of Mac's wreck. There is also time at the end for a bad scuba joke. New consisted of a DEMA press release plus the following articles... Boat passengers get letters from attorney on scuba diving death http://www.carolinalive.com/m/news/story?id=782273 Metro Detroiters react to helium shortage http://www.myfoxdetroit.com/story/19149701/2012/07/30/metro-detroiters-react-to-helium-shortage Reducing underwater noise for Scuba Santa and other divers http://www.wvxu.org/mobile/include_news_article.asp?ID=10188 Underwater â??electrical outletsâ?? put in place for cabled ocean observatory project http://www.washington.edu/news/2012/07/26/underwater-electrical-outlets-put-in-place-for-cabled-ocean-observatory-project/ South Carolina students to excavate shipwreck at Harbour Town http://www.wcnc.com/news/regional/South-Carolina-students-to-excavate-shipwreck-at-Harbour-Town-162264755.html http://www.thestate.com/2012/07/13/2353774/shipwreck-gives-usc-students-a.html
Once again Mack, Jim and Darrin geek out about scuba diving and discuss scuba in the news. They correct some items from the week before and make a whole new rounds of mistakes. DEMA had a load of press release lately and the last few weeks. The chat room was full and so was the show. Thank you for listening.
Mac, Jim and Darrin put their take to scuba in the news. There were scuba bans, new shipwrecks and giant 100+ ton horseshoe crabs to keep them busy. Almost makes of for them being dry this week. Almost but not quite. They also had a seasonally appropriate bad scuba joke.
After a long weekend of diving Mac, Jim and Darrin talk about diving some more. Summer may be mostly over but still plenty of scuba diving yet to do. Jim is now up north doing more diving. We wish we were their with him. Maybe the bad scuba joke will hold us over for another week.
Jim, Mac and Darrin catch up on the dives up north after dipping into Scuba in the News. The days may be shorter but there is still diving going on. Also a stinky Scuba Joke of the week. Not to mention a few dive videos and some photos.
We should apologize in advance. The scuba joke is so bad we feel we must warn you. Also Jim, Mac and Darrin talk about Scuba in the news and a some dives on Mac's wreck. There were some letters from listeners and yep; the exceptionally bad scuba joke.
What can we say. This is take two of the road trip. Darrin goes solo, the cooper river trip and fraken episode from the road. We will make it up to you next week. :) This is the edited version with bonus material.
Shortly after recording this episode the power was lost to our scuba podcasting bunker in the rural backwaters of Michigan. Even the predictions of the Mayans couldn't keep us down and we present to you this episode. Make sure you check out one of the websites we discuss in the last half of the show, Access Scuba.
Jim, Dave and Darrin cover some more scuba happenings this week. Mac chimed in from the chat room. This was the last podcast.... for 2012. We will see you next week with the start of season 4!
Mac and Darrin have a full platter tonight. There is no shrinkage in this show. We had to bring in Dave at the end to help clean up. The bad scuba joke stunk. We added 10 new music sample for you to review. Stop by www.accessscuba.com/scubaobsessed to vote on the poll (Poll Opens Saturday).
Mac, Jim and Darrin brave the cold tonight to discuss more scuba items. A kickstarter project has been funded and a dolphin has been saved. Oh, and a chat room winner has been chosen for last weekâ??s promised give-away.
Mac, Jim and Darrin huddle around the podcasting computer due to no ice and plenty of scuba to talk about. In addition to scuba in the news there are discussions about the book Shadow Divers as well as some things you don't want to see diving. You may also not want to hear the bad scuba joke.
Mac, Jim and Darrin didn't get a dive in but they make up for it with keeping up on Slugs, Gold and a wet Bounty... These could be mental triggers we have been told to communicate for our alien overlords. The bad scuba joke may be the proof you are looking for. If you get to Our World Underwater make sure you keep an eye out for Mac. He will be the guy waiting in line to see the mermaids.
Jim and Darrin are all over the map this week. We don't blame you one bit if you skip the political bits. They seem to be the type of guys that kiss the third rail on a subway line. Oh well... we have you to promise a good scuba joke.
Jim, Mack and Darrin get up in the Scuba's news this week with some sub raising talk. Two out of three divers getting web is an improvement. Who didn't get in the water? A multi-part bad scuba joke is tried out at the end of the show which is like pulling a bandage off of a sunburn very slowly...
Jim, Mack and Darrin catch up from three weeks off from podcasting. It was wet when it should have been dry, but we had enough wet when it should be wet. Lots of scuba news to catch up an and a double dose of bad scuba joke to send it home. Thank you for listening! We are glad to be back.
Jim, Mack and Darrin talk about a lot of diving this week. Jim K and Darrin hit the Ironsides while Mack and Jim S. mowed the lawn and dropped in to find new items on an old ship wreck. That bad scuba joke once again is what it is.
Mack and Darrin talk about this last week's river dives and the MUD Club picnic. This is great diving weather at the end of the summer. Have you gotten wet recently? Maybe the bad scuba joke will motivate you.
Mack, Jim and Darrin talk about some recent dives. Jim and Mach fill us in on their Cheboygan trip. Jim and Darrin have rebreather plans coming up. The joke wasn't so much bad as it wasn't really that goodl
Darrin and Jim talk about their first experience with diving the Poseidon rebreathers and the Ambient Pressure rebreathers with Steve Lewis and Steve Philipson courtesy of Diving Adventures. What was Darrin's new nickname? How did they like it? You will have to listen to find out. Of course the bad scuba joke was bad as promised.
Mack, Jim and Darrin together once again to get caught up on scuba diving. Jim talks about the dive show in Grand Haven, Mack talks about some diving recovery and Darrin polishing things up with a bad scuba joke.
Mack, Jim and Darrin go long with all sorts of great stories. Happy Birthday Jim! He is retire now so he must really be old, but not too old to breath air out of a tank. The bad scuba joke gets a topper of its own. Bad Jim, Bad.
Mack, Jim and Darrin fight through the effects of daylight saving time to cover more interesting tid bits of scuba. Seems that people above water may also use neoprene and chains. Mack was back in the river pulling up some of the old shiny stuff even though water was high. They bring things back down again with another bad scuba joke.
As Mack, Jim and Darrin digest their Thanksgiving meal they provide some tips for Scuba related holiday gifts. They also have some brief scuba in the news before talking about some actual dives.
The guys cover scuba in the news and also get caught in the news themselves. Mack, Jim and Darrin were among the divers that located a body in the Saint Joseph river during their traditional Turkey Dive. They did fit in a dive later in the week.
Mack and Darrin go crazy about a new anti-diving rule proposed for the pier even though scuba divers are exempt. They discussed the negative 10 degree F weather we where having. F weather seems appropriate when you think about it.
Mack, Jim and Darrin catch up on Scuba. Jim talks about his low vis dive in Florida. They do a little venting and then some obsessing. News includes guy diving in a bird cage, people believe fake diving gill and some job opportunities.
Mack and Darrin interview Marine Biologist and Scuba Miss USA 2013 Chanel Hason. Together they cover scuba in the news. Scuba In the News Sea stars take brunt of wasting syndromeâ?? 'Things are out of control' as manatee-loving tourists overwhelm refuge Experience: I survived an earthquake while scuba diving Dark & Stormy: The Gowanus Gets Its Very Own Scuba Diver Ice Cover Affects lake Levels in Surprising Ways Photos of the week Photoshoot Of Africa's Underwater Hotel Diver Creates Underwater Museum in Ukraine Video of the Week M/F OstendSpirit - Beaching Cool Scuba Gear Easy breath snorkel mask promises more land-like breathing underwaterâ?? Seaway debuts flagship Greenline 48 hybrid yachtâ?? Badass Dive Suit Will Make Even Astronauts Jealous - Wired Scienceâ?? We even fit in that bad scuba joke you were hoping we would forget.
Mack, Jim and Darrin have special guest Steve Lewis on the show this week. Steve provides us some insite into his diving background and talks about his books he has recently published. If things on the podcast seem a little broke up it is due to soggy internet (at least that is our excuse).
Mack, Jim and Darrin cover scuba in the news including a video with sharks. Jim discovered a new wreck in the river and was the first diver ever to get on it. Some potential cool scuba gear we need to check out. The bad joke went a little off, but that is what we really expect.
Three dives in the same place with a microphone and some dive stories. We gave Jim the new sound board which is something you may wish we didnâ??t do. More underwater UFOâ??s and bad bad scuba joke.
Jim and Darrin are back this week, but we missed Mack since he was still diving. Caught up with scuba in the news and had a bad scuba joke. Summer is here in the Great Lakes and you need to be diving.
Jim, Mack and Darrin are back this week. Darrin is a little lighter after donating blood, but diving in water is better. They cover scuba in the news and finish things off with the traditional back scuba joke. It is traditional that it is a bad scuba joke, not a traditional joke or something close to that. ** This version fixes the gaps in audio **
Mack, Jim and Darrin catch up on scuba in the news. Jim and Mack talk about the bottle they find while Darrin is concerned he wonâ??t still fit in his dry suit. Sorry about the 7 minutes of backup audio. Have they done this podcast thing before? Better stick to scuba diving or bad joke telling.
Mack, Jim and Darrin discuss some of the happening in the scuba world. Mach and Jim reveal some of the bottle they have been finding in the river this fall. Darrin caps it off with a bad scuba joke care of Rod.
Mack and Darrin review some more Scuba Trade Shows and the show season winds to a close. Mack reviews the two shipwreck shows he visited over the weekend. The diving is starting to get better with spring just around the corner.
Mack and Darrin review scuba in the news. Then the break the podcast. Tune in next week for out interview of the Shadow Divers author Robert Kurson. He talks about his new book Pirate Hunters. He is joined by shipwreck hunter and scuba diver John Mattera.
This week we have an interview with Robert Kurson the author of Shadow Divers. He is joined by John Mattera who is in Kursonâ??s new book Pirate Hunters. We still had all the other scuba obsessed things we talk about so this was a great show. Unless you think the joke was really bad.
This week Darrin starts solo with Jim joining about 1/3 of the way through and Mack joining about half of the way in. We may have duplicated the content a few times, but it is better with everyone together. It is a great time to be diving in the northern half of the globe this time of year.
Mack and Darrin talking about more scuba. This week starts off as a train wreck and changes into a catastrophe. System software updates caused as unique sound that many may find tiring after a while. The audio for Darrin randomly changes from a studio mic to the built in mic on a laptop. It may be entertaining if you believe he has an uncontrollable Jekyll and Hyde complex going on. We do not recommend a drinking game when he turns otherwise you may end up unconscious. To top it off the voice audio is from our backup which can only record at phone quality. We are looking forward to having this fixed for next weekâ??s show.

The recording quality in the beginning of this episode is a little rough. We had to go to our backup recording as we lost power during the show. The high quality file didn't save so we had to splice together the audio from backup with the audio after power was restored. This also contributed to the delay as we thought we could recover the higher quality audio. The attempt at perfection didn't work for us this time and we apologize for the delay. Show Notes Here
