In the latest episode of The Flip N' Shift Podcast, my guest is Salim Najjar.   Salim Najjar who is not only a biohacker and is titled “That HRV Guy” but also an entrepreneur with a passion for mental health and a mission to spread positive energy. Salim is a co-founder of the drink company called Sound.  Sound is an organic tea infused sparkling water.  What is unique about Sound? Well it's Salim's mission which is to inspire healthier communities by making it easier to drink less sugar.  Sound has No sweeteners and only organic ingredients means brighter bubbles for a brighter you.   Our episode topic is HRV (Heart Rate Variability). What is HRV and why is it becoming an important measurement in the chronic illness and autoimmune world. HRV is an important diagnostic measurement that reflects how adaptable your body can be. If your heart rate is highly variable, this is usually evidence that your body can adapt to many kinds of changes. People with high heart rate variability are usually less stressed, happier and healthier.  One of the things you will notice about Salim is how calm, happy and centered he is. We are going to learn how he uses HRV to maintain his sense of wellbeing as well as pick his brain on how to use biohacking methods and mental health tools to achieve the ideal HRV measurement. In the latest episode of The Flip N' Shift Podcast, my guest is Jim McFarland.   Jim McFarland is an award winning shoe repair and leather repair service craftsman that has been serving customers in Florida since 1967.  Jim's shoe repair craftsmanship has received awards at the highest levels in Europe and the US.  Jim received two gold medals in the Inter Schuh Service International trade show and competition in Germany.  His latest award in June of 2023 was a competition where 46 master craftsmen from 16 countries participated in the competition and McFarland was the only award winner from the US.  Jim's following on social media is over a million followers and his reels have attracted hundreds of millions of viewers and received praise from famous celebrities.   We are discussing what is considered not only one of the oldest recycling industries in the world but one of the world's oldest crafts, shoe cobbling.  In recent publications such as The Industry Fashion, they predict a market growth of 5x its current market value which is estimated to be $77 Billion Dollars by 2025 with the resale of high end clothing, shoes and accessory pieces.  The value is placed on the condition of the pieces.  Many will spend what is needed to restore to almost like new condition,  However, due to a massive decline in trades such as  seamstress, shoe cobblers and restorative jewelers most will need to seek repair and restoration out of state or even outside of the country.  So, we are chatting with Jim McFarland on his remarkable journey into a successful generational shoe repair business and the challenges he is facing in a demanding field with supply chain issues and less cobblers available to service larger populated regions.   Website: https://mcfarlandsshoerepair.com/ Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/jim.mcfarland.31 Instagram:  https://www.instagram.com/americascobbler/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@americascobbler   Cite Sources:   Please subscribe to the Flip N' Shift Podcast Channels. In the latest episode of The Flip N' Shift Podcast, my guests are David and Kaitlyn Beiser.  David and Kaitlyn Beiser of Atlas Strength and Wellness.  David Beiser is a corrective exercise specialist and is a trained C.H.E.K (Stands for Corrective Exercise and High-performance Kinesiology) Practitioner.   Kaitlyn is a Certified Exercise Physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM-EP) and Certified Transition Lifestyle Solutions nutrition & wellness coach. A Corrective Exercise Specialist is an expert in human movement assessment.  David can accurately analyze a client's movement patterns, identify overactive and under active muscle groups and compensations.  Corrective Exercise is imperative in identifying and addressing imbalances that cause posture, stability, and mobility issues.  Their mission is to guide and educate people to reach the next pinnacle in their fitness and health journey. Atlas Strength and Wellness encompasses a blend of holistic lifestyle coaching, corrective exercise and soft tissue release techniques with strength & conditioning in order to improve each client's quality of life. We all know the expression no pain no gain. But is that really the best approach to achieving your health and fitness goals? Science is telling us that not all exercises work for everybody.   Sprain and Strain is the most common injury in exercise. It can cause acute and chronic issues in the body which can be painful, costly and emotionally devastating.  In this episode, we will be discussing how to prevent strain and pain in exercise.  Website:  https://www.atlasstrengthwellness.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/atlasstrengthwellness Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/atlasstrengthwellness/ LinkedIn:  https://www.linkedin.com/in/kaitlyn-beiser-0a16b760/     Julie Walz discussing topics on strains and sprains with Kaitlyn and David Beiser.   "What should we understand about sprains, strains and pain recovery for clients?" asked Julie   "We tell people, "Pain is the last thing to arrive and the first thing to go." said Kaitlyn.   Behavioral addiction to exercise is also a real thing – many want to add to the exercise program or train harder than what we recommend. Other challenges that are hard to admit include a sense of insecurity, loss of emotional validation or self-esteem since they cannot work, exercise, or participate in sport to the same degree, explained David."  Julie asks "We all go to the gym and follow online exercise regimens that seem to be one size fits all approach.  Which often is the wrong approach to exercise.  You are educating clients on how to be intentional and less reactionary with exercise.  Can you further explain this approach?" David explains intentional exercise, "Yes, it's really about awareness and intention. In essence, people need to exercise for their unique situation and body type.  We start with specific assessments in two areas 1) physical and 2) lifestyle or wellness. The purpose is to help us design a better program and coach more specifically, but more importantly it raises the awareness in a person so they can be more intentional in their choices." What have you seen in your practice regarding these findings?"   Dr. Sutton's response:   "Fatigue, infertility, depression, bipolar, serious liver damage, skin rashes, joint pain, cardiovascular disease, afib.. There are more. I have documented over 150 diseases in my research that is in the book. Before you start spending your money on probiotics, supplements and immune suppressors (etc..) do a very simple blood test that gives you a report of foods that you are safe to eat."   19:38   Vince addresses misconceptions and common questions regarding food sensitivity and allergy testing:   "There was a place for skin prick testing for foods, we have advanced so far beyond that. It's important to note, that Skin prick testing is only looking for, typically, IgE, acute response or short term response.  Looking at just the IgE doesn't give you the full picture, period.  You have to look at these other factors, you have to have the algorithm to give you the level of sensitivity of each food." 29:38   Reference links:   https://thenutritionfactor.com.au/ https://lavagewellness.com/   Connect with us through The Flip N Shift website. After undergoing intensive brain surgeries twice (2003 and 2006), Mathew decided to take his health into his own hands when doctors told him that part of his brain tumor was irremovable. With the guidance of his Naturopath at the time, Mathew used herbs to completely dissolve what was left of his brain tumor. As if cancer wasn't enough, Mathew had to self-diagnose himself with Lyme Disease because of the misdiagnosis of many physicians. He states that his fight with Lyme Disease is what led to his passion in naturopathy due to the lack of understanding of it in conventional medicine. After seeing specialist after specialist, Mathew was beyond frustrated he wasn't getting the proper treatment. His resilience in finding the root cause to his symptoms of neuropathy, fevers, joint pain, gastrointestinal issues and constant flu-like symptoms while he faced them daily is remarkable. Mathew knows what it feels like to feel frustrated with his health, so he wants to help you avoid the years of pain he had to endure. Mathew is currently recovering from Lyme Disease through treatments including a frequency generator that kills the bacteria that causes Lyme Disease. Dr. Jadan's experience and education make him a naturopath worth visiting. Brad genuinely believes his passion and love for what he does radiates and shines through and that's what sets Brad apart. The Empowerography Podcast is all about helping women feel empowered one episode at a time. Excerpt from https://empowerographypodcast.square.site/home "For me the fact that I was raised by two very strong women in my life, both my mother and grandmother raised me up with the values and lessons to respect women ALWAYS. Seeing them and what they had to do to make ends meet and especially my mother going back to work to help raise my brother and I after she left my father and my grandmother stepping in to help raise us when my Mom was at work. They gave me an appreciation for women, albeit I was young but these values they instilled in me from a young age have stuck with me to this day. These two women were instrumental in making me the man I am today and were amazing role models for me. Now being a father/parent myself of two beautiful girls and a husband to a beautiful wife, these 3 women along with my Mother and Grandmother are my “WHY”, my inspiration. I've first hand come to experience the struggles they've had with a positive body image. Both my daughters were bullied and picked on and seeing the effects this had on them as young kids, then carrying on into their preteen and teenage years and now young adult lives it's horrible that young girls have to go through all that and carry it with them into adulthood. Their journeys inspired me to create this podcast and that is my "WHY" or at least a big part of it. From early preteen years into adulthood, women everywhere struggle with meeting society's “beauty standard”. So please join me in spreading the word about this mission/collective/movement I am creating to help provide a platform for women to help empower and inspire other women out there in the world."   Website:  www.empowerographypodcast.com Instagram:  https://www.instagram.com/empowerographypodcast/ Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/empowerography Instatie:  http://instatie.com/empowerographypodcast     "Part of my process leading up to the shoot (Brad's Visuphoria Boudoir Photography) is building that rapport, trust and confidence."  11:13   "A common thing that I see or get is (customer) "I have to lose weight".."  Referring to common beliefs women struggle with regarding trepidations for shooting boudoir photography.  13:28     Credit:  Podcast Editing Services Provided by The Empowerography Podcast Editing Services

Brown and the mother of their two early adolescent boys.  Angie discussed their personal story from the moment of meeting Michael, to becoming his wife and then the unfortunate diagnosis of late stage Signet Ring Cell Colon Cancer.  Angie's support and Michael's will to beat this aggressive and rare form of cancer while living his best life has touched so many lives.  She provided personal insight on Michael and explained his desire to create a foundation prior to his death to help bring awareness and funding for research.  The information below explains a little bit about the Michael P. Brown Colon Cancer Foundation. (https://run4michael.com/about-us/) The Michael P. Brown Colon Cancer Foundation was created in 2014 by Michael, his wife, and a dedicated network of friends. Michael was initially diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in February 2010, at age 26-years-old. He immediately underwent surgery to remove part of his colon, followed by six months of chemotherapy, with his wife and infant son by his side. Michael was in remission for almost four years. Then in December of 2013, he was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. The type of cancer Michael had is called signet ring cell adenocarcinoma. It is a rare and aggressive type of cancer that affects less than 1% of all colon cancer patients. Because of its rarity, this type of cancer is not researched as much as the more common forms of colon cancer.   It was out of this necessity for research that the Michael P. Brown Colon Cancer Foundation was founded. We knew that the research would not help save Michael, but rather the many people that will be diagnosed in the coming years. Currently, signet ring colon cancer is treated with the same chemotherapy medications as other colon cancers. Unfortunately, the usual chemotherapy options have proved to be suboptimal and many times ineffective for signet ring colon cancer.   Michael had a heart for running, so to meet the goals of the foundation, a 5K Run/1 Mile Walk was established, “Michael's 5K Run For Life.” Due to fantastic friend, family and community support, the run has gradually grew into a festival, “Michael's Run for Life Festival,” with a kids' run, food, drinks, bake sale, silent auction, live auction, kids' event area, and a live band. As Michael's health declined in 2018, he expressed his strong desire to continue our fundraising efforts. Following Michael's passing in 2019, Central Illinois Endoscopy held the First Annual Michael P. Brown Dodgeball Tournament and a former co-worker/friend established the First Annual Michael P. Brown Colon Cancer Foundation Trivia Night. Michael leaves this world forever changed and his memory continues to inspire our foundation as we strive to keep future families affected by this disease whole.  For more information: Website:  https://run4michael.com Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/run4michael/ Email:  run4michael@gmail.com      "Jackson was 2 2/1 months old when Michael was diagnosed with cancer." 20:26 "Michael had a very rare form of colon cancer, called Signet Ring Colon Cancer. Less than 1% of colon cancers are Signet Ring Colon Cancer. Signet ring carries a very poor prognosis." 21:49  Referencing to travel (Ireland and New York) and doing vacations during Michael's final months:   "We gave ourselves permission to live a life that perhaps we wouldn't have ..had things been different."  36:50   Credit: Podcasting Editing Services by Brad Walsh (Empowerography Podcasting/Editing Services)
