What do we see as the value of making time and space for conversations with different voices from a variety of perspectives figuring our leadership in our churches today? Today, we're sitting down with Coach Jeremy Sheetinger, head baseball coach at Georgia Gwinnett ("GG"). I met Coach Sheets years ago at a conference, where we were both presenting. To put it mildly, he is Mr. Positivity which I absolutely love. In a world, where it's easy to be negative and many are, Coach Sheets always focuses on the positives which is the underlying theme of this podcast.Coach Sheets joined GG in 2020 and in 2021, he led his team to the 2021 NAIA World Series title, marking the program's first national championship. He was named the Skip Bertman National Coach of the Year from the Collegiate Baseball Foundation. Prior to GG, Coach Sheets was with ABCA from 2016-19. He was responsible for communications and relationship building within college coaches and helped facilitate a 200-percent growth rate in ABCA membership. He has also served as an associate scout for the Atlanta Braves since 2015.He received a Bachelor of Science degree in fitness and sport management from Kentucky Wesleyan College in 2004. He also earned a Master of Business Management from Brescia University in 2007 and a Master of Kinesiology at the University of Kentucky in 2009. Ready to take your game to the next level? Coach Joe PechotaIn this episode, you'll hear from Coach Joe Pechota. Coach Pechota is currently the Head Coach at Siena Heights University. Coach Joe has been the head coach at this tremendous NAIA university for over a decade now. Coach Joe has coached NAIA All-America Honorable Mentions Keith Jordan Jr. and DeMarco Dickerson. He has also coached five All-WHAC selections. Coach Joe came to the Saints after seven seasons as the head coach for Brescia University, an NAIA Division II team in Owensboro, Kentucky. Under Coach Pechota's leadership, Brescia appeared in two consecutive Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference finals. Coach Joe coached six Bearcats to NAIA All-America honors. Prior to coaching at Brescia, Coach Pechota was at Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne where he transitioned from assistant to associate head coach to interim head coach during his six seasons at IPFW. Coach Joe played for Concordia University. Immediately, you will find out that Coach Joe coaches to help his players grow. Specifically, to grow players and people. And, there are a couple of themes in this conversation that demonstrate how he helps his guys grow. First, wait to hear how he talks about CONFRONTATION in leadership. This is, for sure, a growth mindset leadership approach. And, I can't wait for you to hear him give his thoughts on COMMITMENT. Just wait for you to hear him talk about Commitment versus Convenient. Quite simply, he weaves this topic from the middle of the podcast to the very end. It is outstanding. I firmly believe that coaches can coach - no matter at what level. Coach Joe is another great example to illustrate my belief. Dr. Beau Branson is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Brescia University with a PhD from Notre Dame. Much of his research has focused on the theology of the Trinity and the Eastern Greek Church Fathers. He has engaged with Dr. Dale Tuggy to demonstrate how a proper understanding of the Patristic doctrine of the Monarchy of the Father can solve many of the philosophical problems found in other trinity theories. The conversation ranges from Christian History, Jewish mysticism, Neoplatonism, the connection between philosophy and theology, biblical exegesis, stoeriology, and the strengths and weaknesses of Biblical Unitarianism. Dr. Branson was very generous with his time to have this conversation with me. We both share the goal of helping Christians with different perspectives engage with each other to foster meaningful conversation. He shares very interesting details of his personal story and how this is related to his current philosophical perspective.

The three primary avenues for athletics scholarships are through the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). Within these organizations, there are further divisions based on the size of the institution. All of these organizations combine education and athletics to deliver the experience of a lifetime to the committed student-athletes playing and studying under this umbrella.
