Seed oils have recently become a hotly debated topic in nutrition, fueled by sensational claims on social media. In this episode, the central theme is examining whether seed oils are truly harmful or if they've been unjustly demonized. The discussion tackles prevalent claims – that seed oils drive inflammation, oxidation, and chronic disease – and compares them against the current scientific evidence. This is highly relevant to nutrition science and clinical practice today, as many patients and practitioners are encountering conflicting information about vegetable oils. By exploring the origins of seed oils, their biochemical effects, health outcome data, and the misinformation ecosystem, the episode aims to clarify how omega-6 rich seed oils fit into a healthy diet and what evidence-based guidelines say. Interview with Justin Black, CMO, and Jean-Paul Tsotsos, Interim CEO of Chesapeake Gold Corp. Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/chesapeake-gold-tsxvckg-innovative-technology-new-gold-ounces-5163Recording date: 7th April 2025Chesapeake Gold has developed a groundbreaking oxidation technology that could revolutionize how refractory gold deposits are mined globally. The company's Metates deposit in Mexico, containing 17 million ounces of gold and 423 million ounces of silver, was previously considered too challenging to develop economically due to its refractory nature, where gold is trapped in sulfide minerals. The proprietary technology transforms sulfide ore into oxide ore through an accelerated oxidation process, making previously unrecoverable gold accessible through conventional heap leaching. This innovation essentially compresses what would naturally take "100 million years" into just months, by applying special reagents that strip sulfur from pyrite crystals and replace it with oxygen. The economic impact is dramatic. Previous development plans for Metates required pressure oxidation autoclave technology with a capital expenditure of approximately $3.5 billion for a 90,000 ton per day operation, yielding a sub-10% internal rate of return (IRR). With the new technology, Chesapeake can start with a 15,000 ton per day operation at a capital cost of just $360 million, achieving a 35% IRR and all-in sustaining costs of approximately $750 per ounce.Justin Black, Chesapeake's Chief Metallurgical Officer who previously worked with the technology at Hycroft Mining, demonstrated its effectiveness on a commercial scale with a 150,000-ton test pad. Material that initially had only 20% recoverable gold achieved 80-90% recovery after treatment. For Metates specifically, tests showed that material oxidized for 204 days reached nearly 75% gold recovery compared to just 33% for untreated ore.Beyond economics, the technology offers significant environmental advantages over traditional methods for processing refractory ores, including lower water consumption, reduced energy usage, and lower greenhouse gas emissions.According to CEO Jean Paul Tsotsos, this technology could unlock a market worth approximately $1.5 trillion in currently inaccessible gold resources. McKinsey estimates approximately 580 million ounces of gold globally are considered refractory, with these deposits typically offering higher grades (averaging 2.25 g/t versus 1.21 g/t for non-refractory deposits). The company has identified over 200 deposits globally where the technology could apply and is advancing on multiple fronts, including continuing test work, analyzing samples from other companies, and planning to establish a pilot plant to further demonstrate the technology's effectiveness.View Chesapeake Gold's company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/chesapeake-goldSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

My name is Lewis Moon and I'm a Mineral Balancing Practitioner & Hair Mineral Analysis App Developer.   I have a diploma in Nutritional Balancing Science and a bachelor's degree with honors in Landscape Architecture.    In 2004 I started feeling detached from reality, with 24/7 brainfog, DP/DR, terrible social anxiety, racing mind, skin problems and over 30 other symptoms.    In 2011 I came across an article by Dr Lawrence Wilson on brain fog and this is where my Mineral Balancing journey started. Little did I realize how sick and burned out I was.    Through HTMA I discovered and healed extreme adrenal burnout, chronic fight or flight, severe copper toxicity, toxic metal issues, severe liver damage from accutane and many more debilitating problems.   In 2015 I became a practitioner under Dr L Wilson until 2020 where I realized the complexity of Mineral Balancing and HTMA and how building a piece of software to analyze the tests would be very helpful for practitioners and individuals in the space.   This is where Hair Analysis App - www.hairanalysis.report was born. Used by hundreds of practitioners the app is able to generate highly detailed HTMA reports, supplement regimes and healing reports in order to aid a practitioners analysis of clients.    I currently spend most of my days improving the software and I work with a small group of clients to improve their health through Hair Analysis and Mineral Balancing.   You can find me on YouTube under the channel Life Labs HTMA.  My website is www.lifelabshtma.com And my app is at www.hairanalysis.report   Work With Me: Mineral Balancing HTMA Consultation: https://www.integrativethoughts.com/category/all-products  My Instagram: @integrativematt My Website: Integrativethoughts.com   Advertisements:   Viva Rays: Use Code ITP for a Discount https://vivarays.com/   Zeolite Labs Zeocharge: Use Code ITP for 10% off https://www.zeolitelabs.com/product-page/zeocharge?ref=ITP Magnesium Breakthrough: Use Code integrativethoughts10 for 10% OFF https://bioptimizers.com/shop/products/magnesium-breakthrough Just Thrive: Use Code ITP15 for 15% off https://justthrivehealth.com/discount/ITP15 Therasage: Use Code Coffman10 for 10% off https://www.therasage.com/discount/COFFMAN10?rfsn=6763480.4aed7f&utm_source=refersion&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=6763480.4aed7f   Chapters: 00:00 Navigating Parenthood: The Early Days 03:01 Nutrition and Child Development 05:58 The Importance of a Stress-Free Environment 08:53 Foundations of Health: The First Years 12:11 Cravings and Nutritional Needs 14:56 Understanding Oxidation Rates 17:58 The Science Behind Cravings 21:04 Mineral Balancing for Children 35:20 Understanding Mineral Interactions in Oxidation Rates 38:14 The Role of Adrenal Function in Metabolism 40:34 The Complexity of Oxidation Rates and Diets 43:43 The Importance of Testing and Individualized Nutrition 46:49 Copper and Its Role in Health 49:46 The Debate on Vitamin D3 and Calcium Levels 01:01:44 The Complexity of Hair Analysis and Its Patterns 01:05:29 Comparing Oxidation Rate Calculations in Hair Analysis 01:14:39 Understanding Hair Analysis: The Two Camps 01:21:41 The Importance of Accredited Courses in Hair Analysis 01:25:57 Valence Update: Results and Observations 01:39:40 Innovations in Supplementation: The Future of Healing Takeaways: Parenthood brings both challenges and blessings. A stress-free environment is essential for child development. Zinc deficiency is a common issue affecting children today. The first ten years of a child's life are crucial for health. Cravings can indicate nutritional needs and deficiencies. Oxidation rates are fundamental in understanding health through hair analysis. Healthy communication about food can prevent rebellion in children. Mineral balancing can improve children's eating habits. Attracting a health-conscious community is beneficial for parenting. Proper nutrition in early childhood sets the foundation for lifelong health. The oxidation rate is influenced by the balance of sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium. Elevated sodium and potassium can lead to low calcium and magnesium in cells. Adrenal function is crucial for maintaining mineral balance and metabolism. Understanding oxidation rates is essential for effective dietary recommendations. Copper plays a significant role in health but must be managed carefully. Vitamin D3 can leach calcium from bones if taken in high doses. Hair analysis provides a comprehensive view of mineral interactions and health. Different practitioners may use varying methods to calculate oxidation rates. Individualized nutrition is key to addressing metabolic issues. The complexity of hair analysis requires a deep understanding of mineral patterns. There's a lot of confusion in hair analysis. You have to choose one side in hair analysis. Accredited courses are crucial for practitioners. Valence supplements are more potent and absorbable. Faster detoxification is observed with Valence products. Binders are essential for managing detox reactions. The program can be intense, but improvements are being made. Education is key to reducing confusion in the field. Innovations in supplementation are necessary for progress. Practitioners need to adapt to new findings in health. In this episode, host Alyssa Clark and RD Alyssa Leib discuss the role of fat oxidation, fasted training, and Low Carb High Fat (LCHF) diets in endurance training. They explain that fat oxidation, or the body's use of fat as fuel, is crucial for ultra-endurance athletes. But, aerobic training will improve fat oxidation rather than strict low-carb diets or fasting. They also dive in to how fasted training has negative effects on performance, health, and training quality. Uphill Athlete's updated stance emphasizes that the risks of fasted training, such as low energy availability, outweigh its benefits. They also discuss how LCHF diets, do not have evidence to support claims of improved endurance. Studies show limited performance gains and potential health risks, especially in high-altitude environments. Alyssa and Alyssa note that athletes should focus on balanced, fueling, especially with carbohydrates, and prioritize consistent training over restrictive dietary approaches. If you'd like to read more, check out our three articles linked below:https://uphillathlete.com/nutrition/fat-adaptation/https://uphillathlete.com/nutrition/the-impact-of-fasted-training-on-performance/https://uphillathlete.com/nutrition/high-fat-low-carb-diet-ultra-endurance-performance/Please visit uphillathlete.com to learn more about our nutrition coaching options or write to us at coach@uphillathlete.com

Understanding Fat Oxidation and How to Improve It for Endurance Athletes In this episode, we dive into the critical role of fat oxidation for endurance athletes and explore practical strategies to enhance it. We also feature insights from Dr. Dan Plews of ENDURE IQ, a renowned expert in sports science and endurance training. What is Fat Oxidation? Fat oxidation is the process by which the body breaks down fats for energy. For endurance athletes, improving fat oxidation is crucial as it allows the body to rely on fat for fuel during prolonged exercise, sparing glycogen and enhancing performance. Key Points on Improving Fat Oxidation: Train at the Right Intensity: Incorporate low-intensity sessions (zone 2 peak fat max) to improve fat utilization. Increase Mitochondrial Density: Regular aerobic training boosts the body's ability to oxidize fat by increasing mitochondria in muscle cells. Utilize Specific Fueling Strategies: Experiment with fat-based fuels like medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) to promote fat metabolism during training. Periodization of Training: Combine high-intensity and low-intensity sessions to improve metabolic flexibility. Nutrition Adjustments: Focus on a balanced diet that promotes fat metabolism, with adequate healthy fats and nutrient-dense foods. Hydration and Electrolyte Balance: Maintain proper hydration and electrolyte levels to support metabolic functions, including fat oxidation. Monitor and Adjust: Use metabolic testing to track fat oxidation rates and adjust training and nutrition based on performance data. Dr. Dan Plews & ENDURE IQ's Approach to Fat Adaptation: Dr. Plews highlights the importance of structured training and nutrition strategies to optimize fat oxidation. The ENDURE IQ 101 course includes phases like: Fat Oxidation Base Training  Incorporating fat-burning intervals Fueling experiments  Monitoring performance with tools like metabolic testing By focusing on individualized approaches and periodized training, athletes can enhance fat oxidation, metabolic flexibility, and overall endurance performance. Breast Implant Illness
Episode 67: Hydrogen's Healing Powers: Reducing Oxidative Stress and Inflammation with Dr. Paul Barattiero

Breast Implant Illness

Play Episode Listen Later May 23, 2024 41:35

Hydrogen plays a crucial role not just in managing oxidative stress and inflammation but also in supporting overall cellular health and enhancing various bodily functions. Beyond its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, it has been shown to offer several additional benefits that contribute to overall well-being. In this episode, I'm joined by Dr. Paul Barattiero, a renowned expert who has lectured worldwide for over 22 years, focusing on the benefits of hydrogen gas in water. This aims to raise awareness of how molecular hydrogen can reduce oxidative stress and chronic inflammation. Water quality, filtration, and health benefits I met Dr. Paul Barattiero in September 2022 at a collaborative meeting where I was left impressed with his presentation of scientific literature and the development of his water filtration system. Dr. Paul's journey began with his wife, who was ill for the first 10 years of their marriage, suffering from anemia, thyroid issues, and gynecological problems. In his commitment to help her, he discovered the benefits of hydrogen-enriched water, which significantly improved her health. This experience led him to create the Echo Water System, aiming to help others facing similar challenges. The sad reality is that water quality has drastically diminished over time. Tests and laws governing water quality are outdated, and the number of chemicals and pollutants in water has increased significantly since then. In fact, even supposedly pristine wells can be contaminated by pesticides sprayed within a 300-mile radius. It is thus essential to filter out contaminants from any water source, especially municipal supplies, to prevent our bodies from becoming the filters. When it comes to water filtration, the density and type of filter media are crucial. While the carbon filter is effective for removing organic contaminants, it is less effective against inorganic substances like pesticides, heavy metals, and pharmaceuticals. As such, Dr. Paul created a filter that effectively removes contaminants because many filters on the market are inadequate. He explains that simply having carbon in a filter isn't enough; the format and amount of the media are critical. For whole-house systems, catalytic carbon is used instead of activated carbon because it is more effective for contaminants like fluoride. For drinking water, Dr. Paul prefers reverse osmosis, which filters down to 0.0001 microns, effectively removing tiny particles such as plastics and pharmaceuticals. He designed a whole-house system that is more affordable and effective than many on the market, emphasizing the importance of proper engineering and adequate media for effective water filtration. Hydrogen water bottles and their effectiveness When discussing water quality with patients, I emphasize the importance of addressing oxidative stress, cellular stress, and inflammation – both acute and chronic. Many of my patients suffer from chronic inflammation, such as those with breast implant issues. Improving air, fluid, and food quality is crucial for health, especially before undergoing medical procedures. Despite advising against using plastic bottles due to harmful phthalates, many patients still use them, particularly those who travel. The good thing is that Dr. Paul's portable Echo Go Plus device for hydrogen water is a great solution as it is compact, free of harmful plastics, and ideal for travel. It uses purified or filtered water to generate hydrogen-rich water, which can help reduce inflammation and improve overall health. The rise in popularity of Dr. Paul's brand caused a significant increase in demand. However, the market has also seen a surge in counterfeit products falsely marketed which has been a challenge to address. These knockoffs often misuse Dr. Paul's videos and endorsements, misleading consumers. Despite the legal challenges, the Echo brand remains dedicated to providing high-quality, effective hydrogen water solutions. Hydrogen and its role in managing oxidative stress and inflammation in the body Hydrogen is crucial for daily living and postoperative recovery as it acts as a selective antioxidant, targeting harmful reactive oxygen species without affecting beneficial radicals. It also promotes the production of nitric oxide, peptides, and collagen, essential for overall health. Its innate ability to support various physiological processes makes it a vital component for maintaining health and mitigating oxidative stress and inflammation. I advise patients to drink filtered or hydrogen water and add electrolytes and proteins to aid in reducing tissue swelling. Proper hydration should be half your body weight in ounces of water daily. It's essential to drink pure water, as water with contaminants can be rejected by the body, leading to dehydration. Proper hydration with high-quality water is crucial for health as our bodies depend on water for optimal health, as it constitutes a significant portion of our blood, brain, and other tissues. Adding hydrogen gas to the water enhances its benefits by lowering inflammation and oxidative stress. Oxidation is a normal bodily process, but oxidative stress is harmful, and hydrogen helps manage this balance. By selectively targeting harmful reactive oxygen species, hydrogen reduces cellular damage and inflammation, promoting overall health. Additionally, hydrogen supports the production of nitric oxide, peptides, and collagen, which are essential for various physiological functions and healing processes. The body naturally produces hydrogen in the colon through anaerobic bacteria, converting fatty acids and fiber into hydrogen. However, many people have gut issues that prevent this, leading to increased oxidative stress and inflammation, contributing to various diseases. That's why Dr. Paul developed the Echo Water System to provide hydrogen-enriched water to help mitigate these issues. And now, it plays a critical role in producing stomach acid and managing digestive disorders. Gut health, bacteria, and dietary recommendations for optimal digestion and well-being Gut health plays a vital role in nutrient absorption and the immune process. A dysfunctional gut can have severe consequences, especially for patients with chronic inflammation, as their bodies struggle to absorb nutrients. To address this, we use liposomal and liquid supplements for better absorption in the oral cavity and recommend drinking hydrogen water to reduce oxidative stress and support healthy bacteria growth in the gut. Assimilation and digestion rely heavily on fermentation and the right balance of gut bacteria. Ideally, the gut should have 96-99% anaerobic bacteria, but antibiotics, heavy metals, and pesticides can disrupt this balance. Hydrogen, being electron-rich, helps create an optimal environment for anaerobic bacteria by providing a negative electrical potential in the gut. This supports antioxidant pathways, reduces inflammation, and can alleviate anxiety and depression. When the gut environment is corrected, people can properly digest fiber and absorb nutrients, leading to improved overall health. Gut health and the importance of drinking hydrogen-rich water Using the Echo hydrogen water bottle consistently, typically three to six times a day for two weeks, can lead to significant health improvements. After some time, people report better digestion, fewer food sensitivities, and improved sleep. The hydrogen helps restore gut bacteria, allowing people to eat a wider variety of foods and experience overall enhanced well-being. Maintaining these benefits requires continuous use of hydrogen water, especially given the pervasive presence of pesticides and harmful chemicals in food and the environment. If you are dealing with neuroinflammation, reconsider the way you eat. In this episode, I'm joined by Dr. Richard Deth to discuss the crucial role of oxidative stress in inflammation and how nutrition significantly reduces the risk and symptoms of chronic illnesses. Long COVID patients have been seen to be unable to terminate the inflammation caused by the Coronavirus, which may also cause other vulnerabilities such as diabetes. What ties them together is oxidative stress.  Oxidation is where we get our energy from. Dr. Richard Deth emphasizes the importance of maintaining and consuming antioxidants from glutathione and food sources to neutralize reactive oxygen species. As our bodies are nutrient-dependent, consuming toxins can contribute to nutrient deficiency and inflammation. In this episode, Nick and Marshall discuss the process of prepping a vehicle for ceramic coating. They cover topics such as the importance of claying, when to clay before or after drying, and the drawbacks of using clay lubes and detail sprays. They also emphasize the significance of achieving naked paint and the role of paint correction in the coating process. The conversation delves into the variables involved in correction, the importance of panel prep, and the choice of towels for different steps. The episode concludes with a preview of the next episode on applying ceramic coating. Takeaways Efficiency is crucial in the ceramic coating prep process to save time and effort. Variables such as working in a shop or as a mobile unit can affect the prep process, but the overall process remains largely the same. The order of wash and clay can vary, but it is important to get the car as clean as possible before moving on to other steps. Choosing the right clay for the job and assessing the level of iron contamination are important considerations in the prep process. Today, I am blessed to have here with me Paul Barattiero. He has lectured across the world over the last 23 years. 12 years ago, he set out to educate the world on the vast benefits of molecular hydrogen. His message has focused on the critical role of molecular hydrogen (H2) in reducing oxidative stress and inflammation. His lectures present the causal problem and the solutions through scientific studies. He developed the Echo hydrogen water system as well as other products to modulate immune and cognitive function. Paul has lectured across the world and has been on national television in the USA, Germany, and Switzerland, including Doug Kaufman's television show, Know the Cause. He was featured in “The Truth about Cancer” and has been on radio shows and podcasts worldwide. Paul works diligently to educate individuals on how to prevent disease and no longer suffer. Paul's greatest joys come from serving others. He is passionate about the prevention of pathologies. He founded Synergy Science, Inc. in 2011 and developed a full line of products focused on detoxification, immune boost, and gut recovery. In this episode, Paul Barattiero reveals the pain to purpose story that led him to discover hydrogen water in the first place. Then, Paul dives deep into hydrogen and how hydrogen water can help us optimize our glucose levels. Hydrogen is a powerful selective antioxidant that neutralizes cytotoxic free radicals, helping eliminate oxidative stress and inflammation. Later, Paul answers questions from the Keto Kamp listeners, including how hydrogen water can benefit people with autism, whether or not it's beneficial for our pets, and much more! His wife had gynecological issues, her menstrual cycle was horrible, and she was highly anemic. A friend told Paul about this water system that could potentially help people. After Paul's wife tried the water, it changed her whole life. Within a few months, her menstrual cycle changed, and she was no longer anemic. [10:55] Things You Need To Know About Hydrogen Hydrogen is number one on the periodic table. It's a gas that should be produced in your gut. Your body is designed to produce hydrogen gas in your gut when you ferment or digest food. Hydrogen will reduce oxidation. Plus, it gives direction to over 200 biomolecules that have been identified in the body. Every system in the human body is regulated by hydrogen [20:55] How Hydrogen Can Play A Role In Helping Us Optimize Our Glucose Levels Giving hydrogen water to individuals with diabetes will get their blood glucose levels back to normal. Your body puts cholesterol in your veins. When we have too much oxidative stress in our body, our veins will become less elastic. Your body will put cholesterol into the veins where the walls are weak. Hydrogen is able to change oxidative stress and inflammation. Check out Hydrogen Studies: https://www.hydrogenstudies.com/ [28:55] Hydrogen And The Human Body: Why It Matters You are supposed to have hydrogen in the human body to begin with. We should be creating 10 to 12 liters of hydrogen gas per day. You were designed to have a hydrogen generator in your gut. When you take in pesticides, then you're combating your gut function. So, you need the water to be with you daily. Chemicals get into our system; they destroy us as human beings. It all starts with our gut. [33:20] Hydrogen: An Option In Human Disease Treatment Oxidative stress and inflammation is the leading cause of disease. As we convert oxygen into fuel, we create oxygen radicals. Well, our antioxidant system is designed to combat that and keep oxidation in a normal range. When your oxidation is rising, you will have what we call oxidation stress. Oxidation is natural, whereas oxidative stress is unnatural. If you want to live a long time, you have to have a healthy gut. [42:55] How Hydrogen Water Can Support People With Autism Because of gut issues, people with autism are not producing ghrelin secretions. Ghrelin secretions happen either in the stomach or the gastrointestinal tract. When the gut is damaged or not functioning, you don't produce ghrelin. The lack of ghrelin will cause sleep issues and brain issues. Hydrogen water can balance the brain within minutes. When hydrogen water hits the stomach, it will signal ghrelin to go to the brain. [52:45] Should You Give Hydrogen Water To Cats and Dogs?  Yes, give your pets hydrogen water. After drinking hydrogen water, animals no longer have kidney and liver issues. Dogs with heart murmurs will live many years longer than expected. Plus, give your dog's meat, not potato chips! Dogs do not eat kibble in the wild. Well, 50% of kibble is sugar and carbs. Pets get cancer simply because of the food that they are eating. [68:30] When Should Hydrogen Water Be Consumed?   Drink the hydrogen water within two to five hours. However, if you fill it in a bottle, you'll have two weeks to drink it. Hydrogen water is better when it's chilled. You will fall in love with water all over again. AND MUCH MORE! Magical Air Cleaning Oxides? - Short #173

HVAC School - For Techs, By Techs

In this short podcast, Bryan talks about oxidation and all the buzz behind “magical air-cleaning oxides” and other similar IAQ products. Oxidation is the loss of electrons, and reduction is the gain of electrons; oxygen commonly loses electrons. Rusting is a common example of oxidation; it happens when iron and oxygen interact in air or water. Metals that are more likely to react with oxygen (or corrode) are “less noble” than more noble metals. Less-noble metals, known as anodes, are sometimes used sacrificially to prevent the oxidation of nobler base metals, known as cathodes. While iron oxidation results in corrosion, some IAQ products use the process to bind oxygen molecules to unwanted substances. The IAQ products that use oxidation use the natural tendency of oxygen to lose electrons when bonding with other molecules. Ozone is a common agent of these IAQ products because an ozone molecule is very unstable and has three oxygen atoms, meaning it combines with other molecules via oxidation; it stabilizes other unstable molecules. Ozone, however, also reacts similarly with cells in our respiratory system and can cause irritation.  In our industry's efforts to reduce the negative effects of COVID-19 viruses, oxidation has generated a good deal of interest. Nowadays, some IAQ products use smaller amounts of ozone or use activated carbon to catch ozone before it enters the conditioned space. Many manufacturers that use oxidation as a strategy use other ion-based oxidizers, just not ozone. Some of these oxidizers can break pollutants into aldehydes and other chemicals that may harm our bodies.   If you want to learn more, you can read Oxidizers and What It Has to Do With COVID-19.
