Tired of the negativity surrounding bass fishing? Join us as we aim for positivity, announce the exciting return of the fan-favorite City Limits fishing show in 2026, and discuss the mission to get more kids fishing in non-traditional areas through initiatives like street fishing – all while hanging out at the bar and celebrating over 10 years of conversation! Welcome to Ike Live at the Bar! In this episode, join Mike, Becky, and Ethan for a fun and engaging conversation. We're dedicated to changing the narrative (particularly in tournament fishing) and focusing on positivity, as negativity has become so prevalent. Get ready for some exciting news! We're announcing the highly anticipated return of the fan-favorite City Limits fishing show in 2026. This show is all about the challenge and excitement of fishing in urban areas and finding success in unexpected places, regardless of the species or method – be it boat, kayak, bank fishing, or even wading. We'll be using social media to find real people to join us as guests. The show will be available on traditional TV and new digital platforms. A major topic this week is the concept of street fishing. We discuss its huge popularity in other countries where boats are not accessible and how we are working hard to bring street fishing to the US. This initiative is directly aimed at getting more kids fishing, particularly those in non-traditional urban environments who may not have access to expensive equipment like bass boats or forward-facing sonar. This aligns perfectly with the mission of The Ike Foundation to connect kids to the outdoors and conservation. Join us as we also touch on the recent Bassmaster Elite event win by Pat Schlapper (who won with 38lbs 12oz) on the difficult Sabine River, discuss the impact of forward-facing sonar and tournament rules, explore the pros and cons of social media in the fishing industry, and celebrate over 10 years of conversation on the Ike Live podcast. We also share updates on upcoming Ike Foundation events like the Celebrity ProAm (June 21st) and the Walk the Talk 5K Run & 1 Mile Walk on May 31st. This episode of Ike Live at the Bar is brought to you by our sponsors: Abu Garcia (check out the Ike Series 3.0 rods and reels)

David's just booked his 120 mile walk across Dartmoor and Exmoor, so there's plenty for him to discuss. But first he wants to know why Joe isn't swimming anymore and things get a little tense. Then Joe has to help Petra with her car, so David outlines his walking route for us while he waits for Joe to return. The conversation then soon gets back on track and David comes up with a plan for Joe to do the same walk in reveres and meet him halfway. David reckons it'd be great to record it all for the pod, but Joe gonna need some convincing about that. Plus, they finish things off with a long overdue look at the charts and invent a spur of the moment quiz about them too. This relatable conversation is one for parents with kids of all ages. -- Do all kids drink alcohol before they graduate high school? Is this a thing? Today we are breaking down the youth and parent perceptions and norms around underage drinking with Beth Bruton from Holcomb Behavioral Health Systems. We discuss all the surrounding variables that influence youth's perception of alcohol including social media, peer influence, and family modeling. We also talk about how although some parents may serve alcohol to their kids with best intentions of teaching them to be responsible, studies show that kids that are given alcohol at home underage are more likely to drink more often and larger amounts–but most parents don't know this–we don't know what we don't know. Beth gave great tips on ways to talk to your kids about underage drinking and how to set up strategies to give your kids an out if they are in a risky situation. She also provided ways to talk to other parents that may or may not know the risks of underage drinking and how to share this information. We loved this conversation with Beth and hope you will join us! Big Budah has been making us smile for years in Utah. You know him from his time as a DJ on the radio, and his time on the AM News, as a feature reporter. Budah felt this was his calling bringing happiness to us his viewers. Then COVID-19 hit, and things got real. It was during this time that things began to unravel with his mental health. When it started, he felt it was harder and harder to bring himself out of the darkness he felt. Inside he knew everyone was against him, but that was just what his mind was telling him. One night he borrowed a gun, and took a drive on I-80 West to Wendover, NV. Somewhere along the way he pulled to the side of the road and he decided it was over. Hear Budah tell his experience, and the reason he is here telling you this story rather than reading it as a headline. Budah has joined with LWLF, and is taking part on our 7th Annual 100 Mile Walk to Wendover this month. Come join us on this life changing event. Register at Walk to Wendover or just come for the after party at the Peppermill Concert Hall for a Linda Ronstadt Tribute Concert with a special guest appearance by current Voice contestant EJ Michels. We will unpack the very unconventional style of Jesus witnessing to non-believers, who were very much doubting and struggling with faith. If you ever feel over your head or under-qualified when it comes to telling people about eternity, death, salvation, etc. know that is a normal feeling! But what Jesus models to us in scripture is a very different and refreshing way to boldly share our faith with others without being weird.

Episode 104 is the first of hopefully a couple of talks I will have with people who are directly or indirectly involved with the upcoming 11th 100 mile walk that will take place in Seattle area in Washington, USA. Brenda Barnes lives in Kent, WA and is a member of Kent First Christian Church and supports her pastor and many other church members. She is also a major force behind the Kent CROP Hunger, a walk started by Dave (he passed away already) and Nancy Turner close to 31 years ago. The walk supports not only the work of CWS around the world but also local entities like the Kent Community Supper and the Kent Local Food Bank. Brenda loves her children and grandchildren (her 4 year old grandson Donovan is also part of this episode!) and you will hear that she is full of energy and light. Looking forward meeting her in person at the end of March. The songs picked by all our guests can be found via our playlist #walktalklisten here. Do all kids drink alcohol before they graduate high school? Things we mentioned in this episode: We referenced data from the PAYS 2021 Report CTC PAYS Data on Alcohol Infographic We mentioned a previous episode with Carl Gregory explaining the importance of unconditional love We mentioned a previous episode with Corporal Gathercole from Upper Uwchlan Police Dept. When your family loses a loved one it impacts everyone, but how grief looks and sounds in kids can be very different from adults. Today Bethann and Chrissie are speaking with Kate Lannan, MSW, LSW, Community Services Director at A Haven, a nonprofit organization supporting grieving families and children. We discuss how grief presents differently in kids at various ages and how “play is processing and behavior is communication”. Kate explains ways to support kids while also taking care of ourselves during this time, and how to have conversations about death that are honest, factual, and brief. We also discussed how grief can come and go, that it is normal to feel distressed, and we can't fix our feelings…but we can try to process them with support. Join us! Things we mentioned in this episode: A Haven has great online resources to support talking about grief and loss Bethann mentioned using books to support conversations–here is a list from A Haven A Haven is a nonprofit organization located in Exton, PA, focused on supporting grieving children with a family-centered approach. A Haven acknowledges that empowering families to walk through grief together is an important piece in supporting a grieving child. Research now reveals that the number one determining factor on how a child grieves is how the parent/guardians grieve. A Haven provides grief support through groups, community outreach, and educational resources. Follow A Haven on Facebook and Instagram.
