We discuss her journey into the Music from studying Arts, Music and Entertainment Management at LIPA to securing her Masters Degree in Business alongside working in South Africa as well as her passions for diversity and inclusion; specifically stemming from leadership positions.During her time in South Africa, Sophie began managing bands and working within the Live Sector in Marketing and Partnerships. After the World Cup in 2010 there was much greater opportunity to tour in South Africa which led to a huge increase in ticket sales (100,000 to 1 million a year) working on tours for huge acts such as Ed Sheeran, Rhianna, Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber.     ESTA RAE - Life with Dyslexia & AIM Events Manager

    Esta wears many hats day to day as an Events Manager, Youth Mentor and Public Speaker on Neurodiversity, specifically Dyslexia and Dyspraxia. In this episode we were able to dive deep into her schedule and the doors that speaking openly about her dyslexia have been able to open. Since she was diagnosed during her time at University, Esta struggled academically for her younger years but has gone on to show that her creativity and drive propels her talent in the Music Industry. She is voice for others with invisible learning needs to ensure they see appropriate support, check out @life_with_dyslexia for a wealth of information. Esta also has a BA Honours Degree in Social Work and a Masters Degree in Music Business Management. Esta is a Senior Events Manager at AIM (The Association of Independent Music) and has curated some incredible events such as the AIM Independent Music Awards 2022 where the Libertines headlined, Stormzy and Lethal B both won awards and there were special guests such as JME and Giggs.     Karen started in the music business booking bands and DJ-ing at Leeds university. In the late 80s, she took a job at Rough Trade Distribution climbing the ladder in a male-dominated sector by asking the right questions and learning the numbers. In 1990, she used her redundancy to start Key Production, which specialises in the design and manufacture of Vinyl CDs, DVDs and cassettes plus bespoke packaging for both music and a growing list of other industries.Through first organic growth and then a series of acquisitions that added knowledge and expertise to the company, Key Production Group now comprises 56 people at four offices in England and is the leader in its field.Karen has been the driving force behind Moving the Needle, an initiative focussing on supporting women in the music industry.She has also built and owns a sustainable Hotel in Nicaragua and mentors as well as speaking at schools and universities.What a delight it was to speak with Karen!     PIXIE PICKERING- VP, Creative and Co-Head, UK Sync at Sony Music Publishing

    Pixie started working in the media industry 17 years ago in the music department of ITV Yorkshire. After recognising a passion for the creative side of putting music to picture, she moved on to become a music consultant for EMI. Initially it was a mostly Regional based role, providing media clients across the UK with both production music and commercial music. She gradually worked her way to leading the UK sales team for Sony ATV, and in 2021 became the V.P of Creative and Co-head of the UK sync team. This entails managing a team who license, pitch, and seek sync opportunities for their roster, both catalogue and new works.Pixie works closely with the artists at Sony ATV and A&R to build and maintain relationships so that she can pitch creatively and effectively for TV, Advertising, Games and Film, as well as work with music supervisors, directors, and music departments to create opportunities for our Sony ATV artists and writers.
