De notre correspondant à Kinshasa, Sur la pelouse du stade Albert, à Kinshasa, une trentaine de jeunes talents de l'Académie Black Stars s'entraînent avec détermination. Échanges de passes, tirs au but et exercices d'agilité rythment leur séance. Tous partagent le même rêve : porter un jour le maillot des Léopards, l'équipe nationale de la RDC. La récente performance de cette dernière, arrivée en finale des barrages pour la Coupe du monde 2026, a ravivé leurs espoirs. Parmi ces jeunes, Louis-Hélène, 17 ans, confie son émotion : « Le football, c'est quelque chose. J'ai commencé très jeune. J'ai vu beaucoup de joueurs passer et je me disais toujours : un jour, moi. Voir que mon pays arrive à monter comme ça, que ce sont des gens de la vingtaine, des gens comme nous... Ça me donne encore plus d'espoir et ça me donne envie, vraiment, de représenter ce pays un jour. » À ses côtés, Enola avoue avoir une idole au sein de l'équipe nationale : Mukau Ngalayel. « Parce que c'est un numéro 8 comme moi et j'aime trop sa façon de jouer au foot, sa technique. Il a un truc qui me plaît, son style de jeu. C'est un peu pareil que le mien, c'est pourquoi je l'apprécie beaucoup », explique-t-il. « Faites-nous rêver » À Kinshasa, les académies de football sont nombreuses, mais beaucoup doivent composer avec des moyens limités. Pour Daniel Bolingo, directeur sportif des Black Stars, une qualification des Léopards pour le Mondial serait un véritable tremplin pour le football congolais : « Franchement, la joie serait immense. Moi, aujourd'hui, j'ai 22 ans, je n'ai jamais vu mon pays participer à une Coupe du monde. Je vois des pays à côté, comme le Sénégal, qui fait un beau parcours, ou la Côte d'Ivoire, qui revient souvent à la Coupe du monde. Nous, on n'a jamais vu la RDC en Coupe du monde. Donc aujourd'hui, si on voit notre pays se qualifier, ce serait une joie immense et ça mettrait la lumière sur notre pays. Parce que le talent en RDC, il est énorme. On a une grande population, un grand pays, et voir nos aînés qualifiés à la Coupe du monde, je pense que ça donnerait un boost pour les jeunes footballeurs et pour le football en général. » Pour Kavé Kazadi, coach de l'Académie Black Stars, l'équipe nationale possède déjà un atout majeur : « Il y a de l'amour, il y a une bonne communication entre le staff et les joueurs. C'est vraiment ça, la force de la RDC. Sans équipe soudée, vous ne pouvez pas aller loin. Le vestiaire doit être déjà fort, et ensuite, à l'extérieur, vous pouvez vous montrer de quoi vous êtes capables.
