My father was a superintendent and needed someone to do all the logistics, timekeeping, reports, and payroll. I Traveled around the US and didn't really hang out with the workers because my father kept me close and I guess didn't want me to pick up on the bad habits of refinery workers. Once in a while the workers would come to me asking me for an advance on their Per Diem (meal money) because they wanted to take out whatever girl they hooked up with either at the jobsite or the new location we would be at. Later the company would get bigger jobs outside the US. One in particular was Venezuela. Once we got there the workers immediately went out and by the second or third day had gotten a girlfriend. I never really noticed when I started, but every hotel or motel we stayed at were turned into bordellos by our workers. Many hotels and motels would welcome in and cater to any incoming refinery tower service. Venezuela is when my eyes were opened, mainly because I had to deal directly with the hotel managers, which were coincidentally all young gorgeous females. It got so bad that the female manager asked me to tell the guys to bring in their companions of the night through the back entrance of the hotel. I tried my best, but unfortunately one of the workers told the owners. The owners called a meeting and told them that company x is paying their paychecks and to let them do whatever they wanted. This in turn caused many of the girls to play the game and started hooking up with our workers and foreman. Now the main reason why the owners let the workers do anything was because our company made a deal with the owners to pay them directly in US currency to their offshore accounts. This was also true for all the hardware stores, welding, and safety stores I dealt with. No US currency went through the Venezuelan banks because of the low exchange rate. The first time I went there we all got our Bolivares from the Venezuelan airport. At the time it was 1 US dollar to 3 Bolivares. Some of workers were approached by taxi or bus drives offering 4 Bolivares or 5. They didn't question if the money was real.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/mgtow/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Per diem, what are a per diems, how do you pronounce per diem, and what is a per diem in the workplace are common searches throughout the year. People also want to know if companies have to offer per diems and why companies offer per diems in the first place. In this fast-paced episode we are going to try and answer all these questions. Stick around until the end when we address the question of why companies might want to use per diems. The explanation might surprise you. #perdiem #expensereport #accountspayable Per diems are commonly used in the workplace as part of company's expense reporting process. Employees either love them or hate them, it seems there's no middle ground. That being said, should an organization choose to use per diems, it is important that they take into consideration IRS rules. Expense reporting is frequently part of the accounts payable process. Accounts payable and accounting require the use of both accounts payable best practices and strong account payable internal controls. For many organizations, the review of expense reports and the requests for reimbursement of expenses, is handled in accounts payable. For the accounts payable process to work well, best practices for AP should be used. By their very nature, accounts payable best practices incorporate strong internal controls and avoid AP control weaknesses. Also, a new piece of legislation would greatly increase your minimum insurance requirements, which would greatly affect your bottom line. We’ll explain the snowball effects the change would have on small-business truckers. And in addition to the president’s infrastructure bill, a highway bill will need to be passed this year – and it could substantially change things in trucking, for better or for worse. We’ll tell you what issues are part of the bill. 0:00 – Newscast. 10:15 – Per diem update. 25:08 – Real-world effects on minimum insurance plan. 39:59 – The good, the bad and the ugly of the next highway bill.

At different points of our professional careers, most athletic trainers dabble in per diem work, either as an independent contractor or through an employer. Per diem athletic training is a fantastic way to build experience, grow your network, add additional income, and establish foundations for future jobs. When it comes to working as a per diem athletic trainer, it is not as simple as just showing up and providing excellent care. In this episode, Ryan Stevens sat down with K. Ellis Mair, founder of Go4Ellis, to discuss her journey and "all things per diem", many aspects which any athletic trainer at any level needs to consider when working in this capacity. Ellis Mair graduated from Penn State University in 2009 with her Bachelors in Kinesiology in the Athletic Training Option. She worked in the Secondary School setting where she was the head athletic trainer for Monsignor Bonner High School. She began working per diem work in 2010 with NXTsports. In 2011, she was brought on as the Participant Health and Safety Consultant for NXT. In 2013, she attended Boston University where she worked as a graduate assistant and staff athletic trainer. Upon obtaining her Masters in Health Education from BU, she returned home to Philadelphia to become the Director of Participant Health and Safety for the largest youth lacrosse company in the country. In 2016, Ellis had an idea to streamline and professionalize the per diem setting. She and a few colleagues decided to create Go4Ellis. Currently, Ellis is the Co-Founder of Go4Ellis, the athletic training app that links athletic trainers with per diem work opportunities. She is the Chair of the National Athletic Trainers' Association Youth Sports Work Group. Ellis currently sits on the Board of Directors for Schema and the Fishtown Neighbors' Association. Her garden was named a 2019 Garden of Distinction by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. She currently lives in Philadelphia and is a proud dog momma to a labrador and mastiff.
